I think people forget that we're all human beings and thus we can all act differently. Personally I care less about someone being a buttoned up professional, especially now that I've met her. She is quick and talks fast. Sometimes I would end up waiting longer to see her than my appointment itself in the beginning which annoyed me at first, but I don't leave feeling like I didn't get enough out of her and that's what's important. She is very warm and personable, remembers things about my personal life and shows genuine care. She has not only helped me lose weight but has gone out of her way to maximize my results and tailor everything to my needs, and in a way that I don't feel things are being "sold" to me. On the contrary, she has gone out of her way to get more affordable options for me. She is as much my hype person as she is my doctor. I've lost 40 lbs healthily under her care since October and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. All of the Avita MD staff from the front desk to nurses are all very kind too. The doctor's own notes explicitly stated "No significant issues." Yet, Sutter billed me for a separate, "Level 3" complex office visit on top of the preventative exam. 250+ dollars is charged for a 10-15 second discussion concluding no issue. When I tried to dispute this, the billing department was a nightmare. They refused to address the fact that the doctor found "no issues" (which means low complexity!) and instead kept copy-pasting generic federal guidelines about billing codes to justify the charge. When I asked to escalate to a formal Grievance, they ignored the request entirely. It feels like they rely on patients being too tired to fight back. They are using "Modifier 25" to double-bill for visits that have zero medical complexity. Save yourself the headache and go to a provider that bills honestly.

Here is time to give back by leaving my review :) We have been seeing him for about 2 years. And he indeed lived up to 5 stars, and even far beyond 5 starts if we have more stars to give! As people have been saying here, he is compassionate and competent at the same time. In a typical visit, by asking curious and caring questions without rushing, he got all aspects of my concerns, and he listened so well and cared so much that sometimes I forgot I was in a doctor's appointment, but feeling more like catching up with an uncle that I have missed for a while. Every time for any issue that we want to learn more, he could cite trustworthy resources readily and we trust that he gave well informed advices. There was a time my husband doesn't feel well in his chest, and concerned about potential heart issue. It was in the evening, like 9 or 10 pm, after ordinary office hour, and he didn't feel too bad to go to ER to check it, but concerning enough for us to consider if he should go to ER. We messaged Dr. Fell on the one medical app, and he called us a few minutes later!!! After asking some questions, he said with comforting tone that it's fine, probably muscle tensions, and my husband doesn't need to go to ER that night. Such a relief! And he saved us a thousand dollar bill. And my husband is indeed fine. We are so grateful and impressed about his confidence and that he cares so much and is willing to go far and beyond to help! We also both received his hypnotherapy, which has been deeply healing and I still draw resources from those sessions after two years. His compassion is so genuine that created a safe space for deep healing. Since Covid started, we left CA. When we have any medical questions, we still consult Dr.Fell with virtual visits. We are not willing to let go of him no matter where we go! And we will unhesitatingly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a doctor that could provide excellent medical advice plus family like kindness and care.

Dr. Kallem is respectful, pleasant, and knowledgeable. She listens to my concerns and suggests alternative approaches without lecturing. In addition this practice uses the UCSF patient portal so all test results and physician notes are available quickly and in complete form. She is the most unprofessional, rude doctors I have ever come across and I say this with multiple data points to support. In 2022 or 2023, she casually told me in an appointment that my husband and I should look at staying childfree because apparently a lot of people choose to remain that way and settle down in a place like Iceland. Mind you- I was not seeking her medical inputs on conception or pregnancy. This was just a passing thought and wisdom from her. In 2024, I was late for an appointment by 10 minutes this one time, and I would have accepted a no-show and reschedule. Instead she decided to take me in but she interrupted her staff from taking my vitals by literally pulling out the cuffs of the BP monitor off my arm. She was physically violent when she did it, I was too shocked to react. Today, I had an appointment with her for which she didn't show up for 45 mins when I was there on time. The justification from her staff was that the next patient arrived early. Really? What about decency and accountability? Dr. Thiru was nice enough to come and see me instead even though my appointment was not with her. Do better, Dr. Sangwan. And learn some decency and professionalism if you can. I will not be seeing you ever again.
