This is a great little spot that has a very laid back style. The specials are very good!! The freshest fish dishes. This is not a chain restaurant or Tex mex set up - it takes them longer than 10-15 minutes to cook the dishes but it's absolutely worth it. Please offer at least one vegan option. A few years ago, the chef was happy to make me veggie tacos. Yesterday, we were treated like an inconvenience. The restaurant was empty and there were 2-3 patrons in the bar. Were even told a few years ago (the only other time we went) that the guacamole had dairy in it. Not the best meal or experience I've had in the DMV. The dining area was practically empty on a Saturday night on Labor Day weekend. The bartender was generous to extend HH pricing to us in the dining area. Chips and salsa came out late, as all of our appetizers and entrees were piece meal delivered. Salsa tasted a day old, not fresh. The rockfish tacos were not cooked correctly and tasted very fishy. All puns intended. My chicken quesadilla ($13) tasted more BBQ flavored than anything. It was accompanied by a spoonful of rice and beans, literally. No one was impressed and agreed it would be our first and last time. I'm so glad my husband and I decided to check this place out tonight. The food was fantastic, service was consistent and friendly and the atmosphere was clean with nice ambience. It wasn't busy at all when we were there so we had the dining area to ourselves. The bar area which is separate was more crowded but not overwhelmingly so. We ordered the Fiesta wings to start. Best wings I've had in a very long time! They were big, seasoned just right (not too spicy at all) and you get a nice portion for the price. I'd go back just for the wings! My husband ordered the chicken & steak fajitas. Comes with 3 tortillas and a good serving of sides including rice and beans. You can order 3 more tortillas for a dollar. They were very good. I ordered the beef taco salad with a side of guacamole. It's served traditionally in the fried burrito bowl. Best one I've had yet and that's what I always order if a Mexican restaurant has it on the menu. All the ingredients were fresh and crisp. Guac was great too. The owner if the place makes his own sauces too. We tried a couple of them and they were delicious. Not overly spicy which suits our taste but they do have hotter sauces if that's what you prefer. My husband also got their "award winning" margarita, which they try and sell you on right off the bat. It's quite pricey and it doesn't taste any different than any other regular margarita. That would be my only complaint. All in all, I totally recommend this place. Great food at good prices. We will be back! read more

I honestly cannot believe this place tries to be a legit business. I assume it's a front for something else, but if not, it's a joke. We went at about 10pm and there were two other tables filled. Nonetheless, the waitress said "it's going to be a long wait for food." Lol. What ? We went to the bar for a beer and tried to just get chips and queso. I am not lying when I tell you it took 30 minutes. Why? I have no idea, especially given it looked like a jar opened and microwaved. If you do go, make sure you look in the opening where the guy is "cooking." He looked confused at worst and disinterested at best. This could be a cool spot but they really really really don't care. Food here may have been amazing and them some, but I'll never know. Walked in, noted they didn't seem to have any servers or host or anybody. Waited a while before the bartender suggested we just sit anywhere. While this was happening, a couple who had seemingly been ignored for a while up and left, leaving their menus at the table. So we figured to take advantage of that and sit where the menus were. But just as we were sitting, the bartender grabbed the menus away from our table to deliver them to another group who had just come in. She did hear my protests though and returned with replacement menus. After another ten minutes, the bartender came out to ask us about drinks. Before we could answer, she said she had something to do and would be right back, leaving us rather bewildered. She did *not* come right back, and just kept behind the bar. After another ten minutes or so, we finally up and left. I would point out that no less than four other parties left the restaurant without having been served while we were there. I would also point out that, while sh*t happens and sometimes restaurants and left severely understaffed, the bartender never attempted to apologize for the problem, nor did she (despite our table being only a few few from the bar) ever call over to us to reassure us that she had not yet forgotten about us. If a place is so desperately understaffed that it can only serve the few people at the bar, they should probably close the dining area. I don't recall ever feeling quite so invisible at any food establishment. I hope this experience was a fluke. But either way, somebody should probably discuss the concept of customer service with this bartender. read more

Ehhh...this place was ok. We're staying in Ocean City for a few days and we were craving Tex-Mex so we decided to try this place out. I guess Matteo's is technically in Fenwick Island but it's literally like 10 minutes from where we're staying at in OC. Now I want to say that I don't really expect much from restaurants in a beach town because 90% of the time the food is average and that's exactly what we got here. As soon as we walked in the first thing we noticed was how dark it was inside. I'm all for dim lighting but it was a little too dark. The hostess was very nice and she let us pick where we wanted to sit. It wasn't really busy when we got there so maybe that's why. Our waiter was nice but just not really attentive. The chips they give you tasted old and the salsa tasted like the canned ones that you get from the store. We ordered the steak fajitas and that came with rice, beans, sour cream, and tortillas. You have to ask for guac just fyi. The fajitas were lacking flavor but I've had worse so no biggie (just add some salt and you'll be fine). The guac and rice were also lacking in the flavor department. The only foods that were nicely seasoned were the beans and rice. The tortillas tasted like those that come from a taco box kit, definitely not restaurant quality. Overall, this place was average. I would check around and read other reviews of other Tex-Mex places before heading here. read more

My family of six and I decided to stop here after arguing about what we wanted for dinner for the past half hour. We could not have been more satisfied. The wait staff was kind and patient, as well as accommodating. My sister mistakenly ordered a dish that had flour tortillas, but she thought it was corn tortillas (she's gluten free). The waiter promptly brought out corn tortillas so she could eat her meal. We received our food within 15 minutes of ordering. Everyone loved their food (seafood and chicken enchiladas, hard beef tacos and soft chicken tacos, fish tacos, and a taco salad). It was absolutely delicious, and we ended up stuffed. The owner is a liar and left me with my wrecked car that he promised to fix if I didn't call the police! Storytime: My boyfriend took me here for dinner for my birthday in MAY. upon our departure I noticed my driver's side mirror was dangling on the side of my car. once we got closer, I noticed a big dent in my door as well. went back inside to ask if they can pull the cameras and the waitress at the bar blew me off. A customer sitting at the bar said to me that they were asking about it earlier. That's when the waitress at the bar went over to someone (later found out was the owner) and had him come over and talk to me. He stated that his employee went around the restaurant asking whose car that was and I told him that nobody came up to us nor did I see him walking around asking. So the owner walked us outside and took a look at the damages himself and said not to worry about it that he will get it paid for and he let me know that his employee did not have a driver's license. He asked me not to call the police and that he would pay for it even if his employee no longer works for him. He handed me his business card so I had his contact information and asked me to get an estimate. I figured I would be kind and the owner was genuine enough with me to not get police involved so I can go about and enjoy the rest of my birthday night since it was already 8:00 p.m. at this point And I live an hour away. I also understood that there was a labor shortage and I didn't want his cook to not have a way to work, so I thought this was a considerate thing to do. 2 weeks later I was able to get a day off work to go get the damages estimated. I tried to call Matt (the owner) to let him know And he is a hard person to come in contact with. after a few days we were able to speak and he told me that he wanted three estimates. So I made two other appointments with other collision places and had to take an additional two days off of work. Now I'm at three days of work that I had to take off with no pay. So now we are three weeks post accident hit and run.... I was once again finally able to get a hold of Matt to go over the estimates. He then tells me that his employee no longer works for him and that he will send me his contact information. as you guessed it, his employee has not responded to me. I let Matt know his employee responded to me and now neither of them respond to me. I even settled with going through my insurance to make it cheaper and they would just have to pay my deductible, but they can't even do that. Moral of the story: You can't trust rich people. read more

The food here is really good. They make their own hot sauces and salsa. I believe they even source their own peppers. So the food can be a little spicy. If you love spice this is your place. If you hate spice just be a little selective with your order. I have come here twice so far and it might be a regular visit on all trips to OC. The place was quite busy as it is the height of the vacation season on 4th of July weekend. The food and drinks took a long time. This really was understandable. The most disappointing part was the award winning margarita. It tasted very watered down and weak. We noticed this problem both times we were there. The best margarita they serve is the Cadillac margarita for $2.50 less. So save your money and don't fall for that 'award winning' crap. The Sangria was also very tasty. So all in all its a good place probably worthy of 4.5-5 stars but the 'award winning' margarita stole my money. read more

Went on Memorial weekend with the family arriving on the earlier side around 6 for dinner. We were seated and then asked to move to a different table which was by the bathrooms and the server stand. We were greeted right away and the service was good. Most of the servers were just starting out for the season and I listened to a more seasoned server explain the concept of turning tables... get them in, get them out, make more money. Chips and salsa were good and we were offered refills. My wife has the rockfish taco special for $19.99, 3 tacos minimally stuffed with some fried rockfish nuggets. Tasty but you could get 3 equally if not better fish tacos at Baja Fresh. I had the steak fajitas, which came out on a sizzling skillet, with steak, onions and green peppers. Here is where the 2 stars come in. After eating a couple pieces of steak, the realization hit me that this steak tasted like the steak you get with beef and broccoli at a Chinese restaurant, previously frozen individual pieces of steak. It was not skirt steak, flank steak or any other kind of meat I have ever had with fajitas. It also didn't have the flavoring of fajita meat. Weird!! In not a good way. One other side note that is a pet peeve. The bathroom soap was a store bought pump container that had been used up and refilled with water.... it just pumped out water that was a hint of soap. Honest broker here. Chips and salsa were very good but this is where it ends. Who deep fries pork tenderloin and calls it Carnitas ? On top of that no mexican flavor at all. They dusted it in flour and deep fried it. My daughter got the taco salad and the tortilla shell was not eatable guarantee the fry grease hasn't been changed in weeks. On top of that everything is $19.99 for an entree, should have been my first clue. The bartender didn't know the beers on draught. Ok so as I understand it they are having a hard time getting help like everyone these days but this is all on the owner not the staff.
