Updating my review: The "new" owner Linda has done a great job in trying to show appreciation for the customers. They now do promotions like 10% off services if you mention the email, free jewelery, snacks, flip flops, etc. Although prices have gone up (like everywhere else) I feel like a valued customer and no longer switch up my nail spot. The best technicians for dipping powder are Lucy and Mimi. In my opinion, Cindy does not do as good of a service. Their pedicures seem like top notch. And you get what you pay for: if you upgrade to a more expensive pedicure, they really spend a lot of quality time on your feet. But even with the classic pedicure, I feel like they take their time with the massaging and clean up of my toes. Although the place is not very large, that's kind of what I like about it. I don't feel rushed and I feel like they know me well enough to know how to service my nails nicely. I will state, I'm not a super picky person. If you're looking for a specific rare color, a weird design, etc this may not be your place. But that's fine with me because I like it better when it's slow and I can do a walk in. LBVS. i have been here previously and theyve done a decent job. i had gone last tuesday to get my toes an gel nails done for a trip. within two days my gel nails were chipping and within a week, falling off. i had called and they offered to get me back in to fix. the lady who fixed my nails rushed and missed a section of my nails on every finger but my thumbs. i will never be going here again as they rush and dont value good work to keep customers coming through the door. read more

Time is money and this place is a waste either way! This was my last visit. I showed them a clear photo of the French tip I wanted, and they still couldn't get it right. They struggled to match the color and kept speaking in their own language the entire time, which felt unprofessional and excluded me from the conversation. This is the second time I've been inconvenienced here -- the service is slow, the results are inconsistent, and it's simply not worth the time or money. I do **not** recommend this place. I have been to Matte Nail Lounge about 5 or 6 times since moving to Bolingbrook. I've had the opportunity to get pedicures from a few different nail techs. Just like every other nail salon, the experience varies greatly depending on which tech you get. I've had amazing pedicures where the nail tech takes their time and thoroughly preps my feet, eliminates callouses (ew!), and carefully paints my toenails. I've also had techs who kind of speed through the whole process, making me feel like I could've done a better job myself at home. The front desk staff is always okay. Neither extremely welcoming nor mean. The nail color options could be better. Overall it's a decent place to get your nails done at a reasonable price. read more

I've been looking for a place that has been able to do good quality gel nails for a while. This place is so good. Always make an apt because they're busy. They take great attention to your nails, I always get so many compliments on them. I'm scared to say this because she's honestly the best and I want to be able to stay in her schedule lol but Katie has done me good. I feel welcomed, she's personable, she helps manage the place and she does a great job. When I'm unsure of what exactly I want to do she helps guide me, I remember I didn't know which glitter I wanted and she pulled out 10 different types and helped arrange the perfect look for me. I was already kind of disappointed at how my nails were coming out (uneven lengths, crooked shaping, couldn't give me what I asked for, etc.) but the two cuts were too much to ignore. Mistakes happen but to break skin with a nail tool is not only PAINFUL, but a SANITARY CONCERN. I've been contemplating about coming to this place because all of the reviews are years old. Not only that all the pictures on the page are from people that are no longer there so it's a snow day and I was like why not go and try it out?! Beats traveling to the city. Long story short .... I was told over the phone that their best nail techs were MIA & VINCENT. Well upon arriving I totally forgot to mention their names but I definitely told them I'd be giving them a review ... My mom received Mia & I received Susan. Vincent was too busy on his iPad and I guess didn't want to be bothered BC at the time there weren't any customers. So hey! Why not, right?! I'm very picky about my nails and I only go to the city as you see in my reviews which gets the job well done! MIA did great on my mom! Susan ehhhhh she did one hand great but the other was a bit different due to polish job and filing. However, it's doable ... Didn't quite like the pedicures. The massage chair and foot massage was the best part! $35 worth? I think not! I didn't get any cuticle remover, I have ingrown nails, he almost past them up and I had to mention it. They are very light to touch. Overall, I need THEE best nail techs in order to change my mind and become a loyal customer. I rather go to Colours in the city on 83rd to get the job done right! Best advice: When we come to the nail shop we want our nails to be prestine, sharp and all the same. I came in 3 hours before close, Told them what I wanted when I came in. Mia did my nails, she asked what I wanted and I told her I wanted a full set. She let out a large sigh and blatantly rolled her eyes to the back of her head. It sucks to come in to a shop and pay for something, and feel bad for asking someone to do the job they're hired for. Not only did she have a bad attitude that made me uncomfortable, she did a HORRIBLE.. I mean really horrible job on my set. I asked as much as I could to file the nails evenly on the sides, and on the surface. After having to ask twice I gave up. She didn't cut my nails when I asked either, it's ugly when you have long nails under a new set. She also refused to paint my nails with 2 colors, so I simply just had to have black nails. Mia is amazing! I'm very particular with my nails and she understands exactly how I want them. She takes her time to ensure they come out perfect. I almost always get coffin shape and she does them beautifully. They're not too thick to where they look awkward and not too thin to where they break. Mia is also really great at doing fun designs and ombré nails. I've gotten acrylic full sets, gel full sets, dip powder, and regular no chip manicures by her and all have been amazing! Called prior to scheduled service for 2 pedicures and 2 manicures for 12:00. Both of us waited 45 minutes for service. Once pedicure was completed, no space for manicures so the technician rushed through a stand up version. Minus the typical items hand soak, cuticle trimming and buffing. Was hoping for some type of discount, since missed portions of listed items which are to be included in a manicure. Unfortunately was charged full price. Upon viewing my nails, they looked like a 12 year old painted them- Not only my hands but my toes as well. The other persons nails where not much better- wrinkled surface as though polish was older. Tried to explain that I was not pleased, but the masks and language barrier didn't help. Thus paid and left. The techs that do the pedicures are phenomenal; very thorough, pay close attention to detail, and are gentle. For the manicures, however, there is room for improvement. I have had a nail tech that clearly sees that the gel polish has an uneven texture and you can clearly see that the application of the polish is uneven, yet still continues to even it out even though it is clearly visible. I do not mind if they do it quickly since there are other customers waiting, but do it right. read more

I'd been coming to this salon every three weeks for the past couple of years. What I really like about it is how they stay up to date on new designs and all of the newest trends! However I had an unfortunate experience that might deter me from going back--at least for a while. I've had this same nail tech two times in a row (about a month apart) and both times she seemed irritable. Having worked in customer service for about 11 years, I KNOW how customer can be, therefore I try not to expect too much from people working in customer service jobs. I know they deal with a lot (especially working in the beauty industry) so I definitely get not wanting to be bubbly all of the time and I know there are days where you're definitely going to feel off. Therefore I try to make it a point to be really nice and have probably let too many instances of bad customer service go in all of my experiences (at other places not here necessarily). With all of that said, after my first experience I chalked it up to that day just not being a good day for her, but after two times in a row, I know now it wasn't a one off thing. Most of the time I get my nails done, I like getting color changing polish, so I always ask to see that particular ring of nails. Because my hands tend to be colder, it can be hard to figure out what the "warm" color should be. In the past, other techs would grab bowls of warm and cool water so I can see the colors changing to help make my decision. The last time I'd gone, I asked the nail tech, Lexi, if she happened to know how many of their color changing polishes on the ring change from white to blue. She answered "We don't know that, you just have to pick." Whatever. I let it go. Then yesterday, I had her again. There were a couple of maroon color changing polishes on the ring of nails, so I asked if she happened to know which of them changed from maroon to fire engine red. Yes MAYBE I shouldn't have asked and just kept rubbing the fake nail until it changed, my fault. This time, she answered, "We don't know what color they change into, if you want to find out you can take it to that sink back there" while pointing to this sink on the other side of the building. I should have at that point just gotten up and left or asked to speak to a manager at the time, but I'm not really good with confrontation. It may not come across as bad as it does in person, but her tone of voice was unnecessary when I wasn't being rude to her. I was going to get my eyebrows done as well but opted not to. Aside from that, I'd wanted to keep the general shape of my nails round but wanted them cut really short due to my job and how much I have to type. She cut them and then said because they were very short she couldn't do the round shape, she could just do the square shape with rounded edges. Looking at my nails, they seem more square and run at a bit of a slant. There are so many nail techs there whose names I unfortunately don't know who are very nice, which is why I can't rate this place with just one star. I don't know if Tony still works there but he always made it a point to get to know people and remember their names, and I truly appreciate that. There is another named Susan who actually used to work at another salon before this one and remembered me although I hadn't seen her in 15 years. She's always very pleasant and smiling all the time. Lately it seems I've had more unpleasant experiences recently and I'd recommended this place to many other people who would look at my nails and ask whew I got them done. First time I went here I sent a picture to a male worker asking him if the design I wanted could be done there and he said yes! I wanted to a full set and pedicure and made an appointment. Good thing because I was told to get up again for my hands to get done first. Some older woman started doing my nails and cut almost all my cuticles and they were bleeding. She then insulted me by saying it hurts because I cut my own nails at home!? I cut my nails at home not my cuticles! I had to let her know real quick that she knew she cut my cuticle and to stop acting like I did it to myself! I wanted coffin shape nails btw and she filed one nail so narrow 1/3 of the nail was gone, she would have left it like that if I didnt say anything! She did not ask what polish I wanted, she just put on no chip on her own! I then sat down to get my feet done and the male who did it was being extremely passive aggressive. The older woman nail tech had whispered something to him and took keys out his pocket so Im assuming they together and she talked shit about me complaining!
