Great service, reasonable prices, clean, what more can you ask for in downtown. They their hibiscus tea, super delicious! Hidden inside the 501 W Broadway building. Nice place to have a quiet lunch. read more

Nice little café in an office building on Broadway. Mainly for folks who work in the building but the food is good. I got the soup of the day which was split pea. A cup for $4.95. It was the split pea of my dreams! Spiced perfectly and hit the spot. I would get this every day if I worked here and they had it. I also got a pan bagnat, which is their fancy name for their regular tuna sandwich (tuna salad, not grilled Aji or anything). It was good but not nearly as good as the soup. They also have beautiful grab and go sushi and bowls. If I come here again I will get the soup and try something else. They were very nice also. read more

Matisse has been around for many years, changing ownership and location from the trolley station to this building entry. Very convenient if you know that they're in a building. Food flavors and service have changed and obviously portion sizes decreased and prices have increased due to inflation. I like Matisse, their healthy meals and their French flavor. Service is nice and prompt. Cleanliness in tables can be improved after customers eat but ambiance is nice. Salads and sandwiches are tasty and highly recommended. read more

Every time I order a salad, it gets smaller and smaller. Barely any chicken or lettuce. Don't think I will be going back.

Very reasonable prices, quick service and good food! Stopped by here for breakfast and ordered a jalapeno bagel egg sandwich for only $5.95, which feels like a steal in San Diego. It was very good. I enjoyed an oat milk latte with it, which was average but hit the spot. Can't go wrong with this place for a quick breakfast before work. read more

Quick grab and go spot located in the lobby of a building. Service was friendly enough. Got a ham and egg breakfast sandwich on a croissant. The croissant was not particularly fresh and slightly hard, definitely felt at least a day old. The egg, ham, and cheese ended up coming as a single solid block with the egg being overcooked. It was overall fine, but that's it. read more

I had their southwest quinoa bowl and added chicken for lunch. It had a slight kick to it but wasn't particularly spicy. The avocado was fresh, as were the other ingredients. The sauce that came on the side was good- it was like a smoky chipotle aioli with a bit of tanginess. I liked the flavor profile of the whole meal. The portion size was a bit on the smaller side but it was very tasty. I came here during jury duty and it was super close to the courthouse. The other reviews are true- you can't see signage for the restaurant on the outside of the building, but just go into the office building and it is within the lobby. It was clean, had nice decor, and the staff was friendly. I look forward to trying their sandwiches and some of their other items! read more

This was my second visit to Matisse Bistro. I came the first time by myself and this time, I brought a colleague. The reason I am giving such a low rating has to do with the attitude of someone I believe to be an owner or manager. Due to his bad attitude, I will not return to this establishment, nor will I continue to refer many colleagues who look for local places to dine. I ordered a nicoise salad with tuna (tuna salad). The salad was served with the vinaigrette dressing on the side. There is no way to properly dress the salad by pouring this strongly flavored dressing on top of the salad. So, I asked him if he could toss the dressing with the salad? Although he complied with the request, his attitude towards me showed me that he was peeved. What he proceeded to do was simply dump the salad and the tuna fish salad into a bowl with the dressing, and plopped it back down in front of me. It was an "F/U" gesture, as far as I was concerned. Now, I have a salad, that was tossed with small bits of tuna and dressing. It was a mess. I ate it simply because I did not want to argue with anyone and especially when I do not believe that the owner/manager would have been gracious in his response. So, I will not be returning to this place and I offer this review with the hope that they will reconsider their attitude when fielding a reasonable request from a dining client who is paying a premium price to dine out these days. read more

Great little place tucked away inside a large building. Very friendly service and great vibe. While slightly difficult to find, you can still see its location through the glass in the main building. I ordered two of the Feritta's, and both were delicious. Service was quick after ordering. I would highly recommend this place for a quick stop to grab and go, or a casual business luncheon. I will be sure to share this little gem with my co workers. Prices on their website and on Yelp don't currently match; expect to pay about an additional $2 per item. Still totally worth it. read more

Coffee was good, probably one of the worst breakfast sandwiches Ive ever had. I felt like I was eating a yellow sponge on a cold dry croissant. read more

This very nice spot is tucked away at the back of the large building of its address. I am sure it is frequented by those that work at firms or other offices upstairs. When asked, it seems like it's like that this place was recently remodeled, and it looks great! They have large and small tables along with a couch seating area that looks quite modern and comfortable. They have coffee, quick to go meals, as well as a full made to order sandwich selection. I had a Parisian brie sandwich, which was fantastic, tasted fresh, and hit the spot for what I needed. At the time of this review, make sure to check in, you get a free macaroon, a very nice bonus! Service was excellent, with smiling employees. A nice addition I noticed were outlets complete with USB ports! I will be back when in the area! Escaping the heat in style! read more

Great place! The two guys running the front are really friendly, seem to know the locals, and really appear to enjoy what they do. The menu is unique and the food is really good. Be sure you know where you are going - it's in the high rise with the address and there is no signage from the street. On top of that, minimal seating...but worth waiting or taking it to go. read more

Prices are higher than advertised on restaurant's Yelp menu. The little bit of Brie on the turkey panini wasn't event melted and my guest found blue thread in her sandwich. read more

I found this place as I was on my last day of jury duty. I wish I had known about it sooner, because I could have had their Farmer Prosciutto twice. Or try another of their sandwiches as they all sound delicious. read more

Quite good. The breakfast burrito is awesome. Many eggs and well done! In the lobby of a high rise downtown.

Wonderful service, very good food, very friendly staff, good prices, very clean and peaceful place to sit and eat. Delicious salads, coffee, pastas, etc. read more

It was a super average breakfast burrito made with items I didn't order. (Wrong eggs and no bacon available). Also slow to make the food items. I'm sure it was a fluke but still I'm being generous with a 3. read more

I work downtown and was in this building to do some business. I was in need of some coffee and accidentally came upon this place. It was well designed and attractive. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The coffee was really good. After my meeting concluded I was hungry and decided to grab something to eat from here (it's just so convenient!) The NY Roast Beef was amazing! It was full of flavor and the bread was delicious! My only issue was that the amount of roast beef was pretty slim so the ratio of meat to bread/innards was off. Lucky the bread was good but I want to taste the roast beef when I'm eating a sandwich. read more

Ordered a salad and added shrimp which was an extra 5 dollars and received only 4 shrimp. What the heck. Not worth the money

Great selección on healthy and tasty food. The guy that works here is always so upbeat and cheerful he makes you smile no matter what kind of day you are having. He has such great energy and it's contagious! Prices are reasonable. Totally recommend. read more

My fav place to grab a cup/bowl of soup. Glad they moved away from the old location near the trolley station, into a new clean building. Tomato Florentine Soup (wednesday maybe?), and the Poblano Soup (Tuesdays) are an absolute must. If I recall correctly, one of their specials on certain days is the tricolore pasta with a gorgonzola cream sauce with chicken. That is absolutely recommended as well. I tried another pasta special today (Thursday) the Penne Au Poulet, and I did not like that one. The sauce was bland, and the chicken was dry, and unfortunately expensive. Overall, it's a nice quick spot to grab lunch near the new courthouse. Try to get there before noon, because the queue usually gets long around then. read more

This place is underrated. Amazing food every single trip & everyone who works here is a pleasure

Excellent food. Loved the tuna on the Nicolae salad. Avocado and egg make it Keto friendly.

I ordered at the wrong location on April 4/13/2021 and I called before they made the food, told them about my mistake and asked for them to refund my purchase. They said yes and that they would do it right away. I waited until Thursday April 4/22/2021 and since the money still had not been returned to me I called them. They said they would return the money and give me a call to let me know. I did not receive a call or email all day. 4/23/2021 Friday, I called again very upset and the person that answered the phone told me that they still had not refunded me the money and he would tell his manager. I asked to speak to the manager and as he's giving the phone over I hear a "good luck" and a laugh in the back ground. This is unexceptable when working in customer service. I will NEVER advise anyone I know to eat or spend their money at this establishment. I don't normally write reviews but the treatment I received was ridiculous. I should not have had to call in about a refund that I was told would be sent to me. Ridiculous read more
