We came on a weekend and were serviced pretty quickly for it being a smaller and busy cafe. My boyfriend got pancakes, eggs, both which were pretty basic in my opinion. I got the chicken sausage wrap and a cinnamon roll. I really enjoyed the chicken sausage wrap and the tortilla it was wrapped in. I just wish the filling was more mixed together. The cinnamon roll was really good, however, the frosting is VERY sweet. Maybe if it was heated up more I wouldnt notice, but the cinnamon filling was very good and flavorful. We both also got the cold brew coffee, which was also basic, but decent. read more

There was a gentleman at the counter. I assumed he was taking orders. I said good morning. He looked at me and "oh they'll take your order over there" pointing to a cash register with no one there. The worst greeting and customer service ever. No "hello" or "we'll be right with you". Just a look like I said the dumbest thing in the world to him. Quite a shame. read more

During our trip to San Diego, we decided to grab breakfast here before heading out to Balboa Park. The food was ok, and it seems like a local favorite. One side of the shop was packed as the other half was closed off for maintenance. A worker was fixing a ceiling tile in that area. The cafe is on my walking path to the office so I decided to drop in. I was impressed with how quickly my order became ready. The food quality was great and it was warm just the way I like it. There's a nice sofa fountain. Yeah I know I shouldn't be drinking soda but that's for another day. I ordered a half dozen muffins on the Corner Bakery on-line ordering system. The site gave me a time a half hour after I ordered. After a half hour I walked in to get my order and they indicated they didn't have an order. I showed him my order on my phone and then he told me they didn't have any muffins. Two things about that was weird, 1) why let me put in the order if they don't have any muffins, and 2) why make me wait a half hour if you aren't even going to make any muffins for an order that came in. When I asked for a refund, he said it would take 2-3 days. I asked for a receipt for the refund which he was able to give me despite claiming to not have the order. Anyway, I would not recommend putting in an order to pick up food at this site. They are not reliable. read more

I came here quite a bit during jury duty. They opened on time and food was ok. There is a new cashier with a badge named Hero that was the sweetest, but that's the only positive I can give for service as I felt the manager was not hospitable. I tried the scramble, oatmeal, pancakes, and cookies. Also got Mini chocolate chip cookies to go which were stale. Pancakes were good, so I'd recommend those if you go. San Diego local, here. I pass by this franchise often and decided to give it a try. The menu items are expensive for what you get. The customer service wasn't memorable. The espresso machine was broken. I got a cold brew instead. It tasted weak, like milk and vanilla syrup. I also ordered a Cafe-sized pasta. Upon first bite, I thought that it was quite bland. It needed more peppers or seasoning. Then, I realized that the sauce was quite oily; I thought that the reason this specific pasta was higher in calories than the rest was for nutrients or protein. No, just oil. The pasta came with garlic bread on sourdough, which I thought was nice, but it was not memorable either. By the end of eating this pasta, I noticed how salty it was. There was more flavor needed, but the corporate chefs could learn a lesson that salt doesn't equate to flavor. For a small coffee and a side of disappointing pasta, my meal wasn't worth $18. There's a large lobby inside and a large outside patio, all empty. I can see why. And, I can see why I avoided it until today. I don't love supporting chain restaurants in San Diego, especially downtown, since there are so many other amazing food options. Don't make the same mistake that I did by getting lunch here today. They get 2 stars because the food was hot, the circumstances causing the low stars is as follows. They left the paper on the cheese absolutely a turn off and when I called to inform them they didn't offer any sort of fix. They said they will let the cooks know to remove the paper used to separate the pre sliced cheese for the egg and bacon croissant. The interior of the restaurant look to be in reasonably cleanly order. For me the experience was lack luster at best and down right disappointing over all. read more

After working in a coffee shop and making my own I knew this cold brew was not made properly. I wish they would have just had concentrate on the side and made the cold brew fresh that way to make sure measurements were appropriate. The atmosphere was very chill. Service was meh. Kept getting looked at while waiting to order before someone decided to help me. It took approx 10 minutes before getting service from one of the four women working in the front. read more

Great quality of food, ambience, and atmosphere was a plus. However, there were two things that could have been better. 1) The men's restroom had an out of order sign posted on the door. When asked, if I could use the woman restroom the server said no! Whoa... What... Wait.., However, she did inform me that the men's urinal was available but the men's toilet was out of order. She could have presented this in a better way as I was contemplating on leaving. A better way of handling the situation would have been, yes, you can use the men's restroom, however, the toilet is out of order, but the urinal available. 2) Parking is really bad as it was difficult to find any parking at street level. Love Corner Bakery, the staff is always so nice and helpful. I usually place my orders online for pick up and sometimes the baked goods are unavailable (between what I placed on-line and what is currently available in store). But they always provide me with options to replace what is missing. We've never really had anything here that we have not liked. My son's favorite are the soups and the bacon/tomato mac and cheese and my daughters is the chopped salad. The amount of food you get for the price is great. The containers are always packed and the food is always fresh and tasty. Their baked goods are good and they have an excellent black current iced tea. Super refreshing! Most locations have indoor and outdoor seating and there is plenty of it. Service is most always great, only one time we had an issue and it was resolved right away which was great. Wish there was a Corner Bakery closer but it is worth the drive for us! read more

Very good location, comfortable, friendly staff. Was in the area and stopped in for a quick meal. This struck as as a Panera-style place, and the menu seemed similar. I had a VERY good salad - the Berry Pecan Salad - because Blue Cheese is one of the only cheese that I don't care for, I asked if they would swap out the cheese and they were accommodating (I choose mozzarella, but they had a number of options). It was my main meal, so I ordered the larger size, and the portion was perfect. The dressing was really good, but next time I probably won't use it all because the salad had great flavor with the berries and candied pecans. The hubs had a sandwich and I'm drawing a blank about what it was - I want to say BBLT? Whatever he ordered, he enjoyed. I would have given them 4 stars (because I do think that compared to similar restaurant types they deserve 4 stars), but we stood at the counter for a number of minutes before someone came to help us. I know people are busy and appreciate that, but it's super easy to look up at us and acknowledge us simply by "someone will be with you in a moment". I've been to a CBC in other states. I think it's my fourth one. As I told my wife, they are batting a thousand. This place simply delivers. The food is really good. At this location the customer service is doing right. I don't recall the young lady's name, she greeted us with a welcoming smile and took our order timely. After each guest there was a concerted effort to disinfectant the area without offending the customer. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato basil soup. The food taste is average. You'll eat the meal but it's not memorable. You don't think about what you paid but know you can get it better elsewhere. The lemonade is still the best. Well, I don't have much to say as I walked in got in line waited my turn as the employee finished up with a customer. As it's my turn (my first time visitor) another lady walked in straight up to the right side of the counter(I was on the left where it says order here) told the girl she was ready to order, girl said ok I'll be right with you, as she was getting the 1st guests order, she looked at me gave me a oops kinda look yet said nothing to me since the moment I walked in. So I in frustration just said " well ok then, Starbucks it is" I turned around, walked across the street to Starbucks (fyi it's an online pick up location BUT they took care of me & the others that walked in after me!!). Positives was the big space, friendly cashier and ability to plug-in if you need to work (however the wifi didn't work, totally spotty and slow). Last resort option, in the future.
