Where do I start?? How about I went into the store in February to order furniture, that was delayed in getting to me until June! I completely understand that COVID has slowed the manufacturing. When we were called and told that our furniture was FINALLY in, we discovered that what we had on our original order confirmation sheet was NOT what we got! We were missing a chair. To my shock and surprise I was told that it was supposed to be ordered, but the sales representative did not include it when he entered our order! We had to order it AGAIN and due to COVID, it would likely take 8-12 weeks! That was in June. The last week of August, I called for an update, I was told that the chair was never ordered, fell through the cracks because I needed to pay for it first! I had called the customer service number and asked if they needed me to pay for the chair now. They informed me that I would get a call when it arrived, and I could pay then, they also stated that the chair should be in early September. I call back around the first of September, and find out that the chair hasn't even been ordered! Joshua, a manager in Ontario, ordered it for me, and I paid at the time of purchase. He said that he would try and put a rush on it, and would call me with updates. I never heard from him again! In mid September, I called AGAIN and spoke with Sung, another sales manager. He was helpful, and checked on my order, and said that it would be in September 25, and he would call me to schedule delivery. I called him on September 26, he stated that there was a hold up in delivery, but he would call me Monday 9/28, with an update. Still nothing from Sung, it's nowOctober 5! So here we are, my living room looks like a psychiatrist office with one chair and sofa. I still don't know when I will get a chair that I ordered in February! My advice is the sit with the sales person when they submit your order, even if it takes extra time. I'm still waiting on a chair that I thought was ordered in February! SECOND thing. We ordered Simon Li furniture for our Den 3 years ago, (separate incident). Our sales representative insisted that because it is leather that we must buy the insurance on it. He was right, it is now scratched by a belt, and by our dog paws. When we bought the insurance we were assured that it covered all accidental damage. I submit a claim with photos to support the damage, and it was denied! I was told that if my dog vomited on the sofa, or I spilled wine on it, or it was stained by spit, it would be covered. This is crazy! I have threading loose on the couch now, due to a belt buckle, or possibly a dog, and because it isn't vomit, or spit, it's not covered?! DO NOT BUY THE FURNITURE INSURANCE! IT'S A SCAM! The sad thing is, the insurance company was rude to top it off! When I spoke with Joshua at the Ontario store in September, I explained this to him. He said he would call them and ask them to call me and take another look at the claim. I have heard NOTHING from the insurance company or Joshua! The selection and quality of furniture is great! If the customer care was the same, I wouldn't be in this situation. UPDATE 10/6: I got a call from Mathis Brothers yesterday. I would bet that they called because of this review. The latest is the chair will be in on 10/15. I will believe it when I see it! This is 8 months now folks!...Still nothing from the insurance company. read more

Don't buy furniture warranty through Mathis brothers. I bought warranty that covers stains and accidents and now tri company furniture (the cleaning company that Mathis is associated with) says because there is more than one stain - they don't want to cover my furniture. I called mathis brothers and they said they don't involved between customer and warranty company. Mathis just does a great job at convincing their customers to buy the warranty but doesn't support their customers when their customers really need them. read more

what I thought was going to be a great experience turned into a nightmare. I purchased 2 bunk beds for my kids. The good thing the sales associate was super helpful and delivery was in 2 days, then it all went downhill from there. Upon delivery, the guys came wearing masks, but then they had difficulty carrying the pieces of furniture up the stairs so they removed their masks, huffing and puffing, sweating. Upon "assembling" my son's bunk bed they completely forgot the bottom bunk's slats. It took me 4 days of calling every single day, including with the sales associate who made us the sale assisting in getting it resolved. Finally, I had to go pick up the slats from the warehouse myself. They gave me the run around and finally we got the slats. NOPE!! They gave us the wrong size slats!!! Back to the warehouse, and even after MORE calls to/from customer service "managers" still issues with obtaining the correct size slats. Off to return the wrong size and pick up the correct size slats. I put them down and WTF they don't fit. Calls again. Well, turns out it's the right size slats, the assembly of the bottom bunk bed frame was WRONG!!! the delivery guys who were "technicians" assembled the bed INCORRECTLY!!! on top of that, they stripped all the screws!! I can't even fix the problem myself!! some of the screws even cracked the wood frame!! I would NOT recommend their service to anyone!! No matter what the price! read more

I was asked to give a review, as I waited to meet with the finance department. I was excited about my order I placed, thought Cora and Jason were helping me then got a much higher price with upcharges, asked for breakout in pricing for up charges, never received, then no one, not one Mathis employee, ever called to update me on my $3000+ sofa. I patiently waited for almost 12 weeks, decided to call, and found out my order had been there for almost 2 weeks- Horrible experience, bad excuses. Spoke to Jason, who made sure he told me he was sales manager, numerous times, asked to speak to his supervisor, still waiting for 3 weeks for a call. Mathis brother has the worst customer service from the furniture industry, I order my furniture on 9/4, I waited almost 4 months , 20 phone calls and had Ontario manager Shaun rudely hanged up on...anyway I got my sofa delivered on 12/22, within days, we felt small needle poking on our skin, it turns out doze feathers poking out from the sofa, the longer you seat the more the poking out. I called Mathis, Madeline said she can schedule a service pick up. I called back today, I was told by Saian it will takes 4-5 weeks ( actual time two months) fix the sofas, I asked for two requested: 1) quality and workmanship warranty for my new furniture , Saian said not, Mathis don't stand by their products, Mathis has many vendors work for them, mathis don't know what defect furnitures vendor will provided ( that's her exact words). At this point, I feel like deal with gangsters... 2) if they pick up my sofas to fix it, I requested temporary furnitures for replacement, Saian said no, Mathis doesn't have such service, so our family supposed seat on the floor for another month?? Are we being punish for order sofa from Mathis? I was not aware my sofas made with feathers, I thought they make with foam like in the showroom, I feel totally being cheated !!! I never thought I needed to look at yelp for a furniture store until now! My husband and I go to MB in July, looks like an awesome store. We end up buying a couch- what we went for. It is a custom couch where you pick the colors. It comes in 8-12 weeks. Didn't like the wait, but its custom so why not. Week 8 comes and I call to get up an update, they said the parts are all coming at different times and it will be at the 12 week mark. Okay no problem. My husband gets a call a week later stating all parts are in and can be delivered. Weird but okay great! He schedules delivery for a Thursday. They went to bring the couches in and before they do he stops them and states that is not the color we bought. Delivery drivers know nothing obviously because they just deliver. My husband calls the store. Talks with customer service- went no where. Talks to the manager. The male manager said thats the color you signed off on. My husband asks it doesn't say a color it says a code. We thankfully took a picture of the color of couch and pillows we picked out and it was a dark grey and they gave us a very light grey. The manager said he will need to figure out why this happened and he will give a cal back. No call back. My husband calls a week later maybe and still no idea and waiting for another call back. At this point I go on yelp and see all the one star reviews and said we need to run now as fast as we can away from mathis brothers to avoid a headache. He calls a week later and talks to a female manager. He has also emailed 5 people at the store and no response. He gets ahold of the female manager and states he wants a refund and we don't want the couches if you guys cannot make this right. She needs to get approval and will call back by 7 pm. No call back. He shows up at the store and asks for a refund. He gets the refund. He over heard a staff member telling another manager the company sent the wrong skus on the fabric so we picked out the right color but the sku was wrong so they made the wrong one. The computer who will respond to this- I only need one question answered- Doesn't your staff get tired of all the angry customers? I've never seen more 1 star reviews for a place then this place. I am thankful we didn't go through with the order. I would never recommend MB to anyone looking for furniture. Also the sales staff will stalk you the whole time you are in the store. Our sales rep was great in helping us find the item we wanted. We purchased on Oct 31 with an expected delivery of 12 weeks. After that time passed, we called and found out from a rude customer service agent that it had been delayed 6 more weeks. That time passed and again.... we had to call and check in and were notified of another delay of 6 more weeks. I get that the manufacturers are having delays due to covid, what I don't understand is how nobody bothered to call us and let us know that our $3,000 purchase was going to be delayed for months and months. It makes me feel like once the sale is made, they wrote us off. And to make matters worse , the customer service team was so rude and inconsiderate to our frustrations with the lack of communication both times. We ordered another item from the same manufacturer through Jeromes and they called us both times to notify us of the delays and apologized. Go there. We purchased a very expensive leather recliner chair for my 92 year old mother at Mathis Bros in Irvine. The electric motor quit working after 10 months. It took several phone calls and e-mails and hours of my time to get someone to come out and replace the motor. This took two months. New motor was put in and the chair quit working four days later. Now the manager will not return my calls. They keep telling me they are looking into the situation. I had to go to La-Z-Boy and purchase a new chair for my mother as she has to have her feet elevated per doctors orders. Customer service was terrible at Mathis Brothers as was this chair. However the customer service and warranty department are super rude and I will never purchase anything fro lm Mathis brothers . It's been the worst experience ever . I tried emailing and reaching out to every single department and got nothing back . I normally don't leave bad Yelp reviews but they gave me no choice. My wife and I went to Mathis Home looking for a bed frame. Curtis was the sales agent that showed us their bed frame selection. I really liked that Curtis explained how the bed frame selection was laid out in the showroom and then allowed us to walk through the selection by ourselves. This allowed us to comfortably browse independently, but he was also readily available to answer all of our questions. We went in for a bed frame, but Curtis asked us to look at their mattress selection and referred us to Zachary. Zachary walked us through their mattress and platform selection. We did not make a purchase that day and went home to think it over. Zachary remained available via text message to answer my questions following our visit. After looking at other stores, and because of my communication with Zachary it was clear that Mathis Home had the most to offer. Overall I felt Mathis Home had the best value of all the stores we visited. I really appreciated being able to text Zachary and receive a response within minutes. I have purchased furniture from Mathis Bros. 4 times. Each time spending several thousands of dollars. Each time it did take longer than they initially stated to get the furniture but I wasn't in a hurry. My recent purchase was different. I needed the furniture soon so what I picked out was only 1 week out for delivery. I stated to the sales person that I was okay with that. A few days after placing my order I received an email stating that my furniture was in and ready for delivery. Great, a day later I went down to pay the balance and schedule the delivery. When I arrived my sales person informed me that they no longer had my furniture. They filled someone else's order with my furniture! I was told that they gave them the furniture because they had ordered the same furniture but had paid in full up front! I didn't pay in full up front because I was told to only put a deposit,which I exceeded the amount they asked for! So I asked when they would fill my order? The sales person said about 2 months! They do not deliver timely. As someone who works in customer service I value good customer service and not being upfront about potential delay of delivery over 2 months is not great service. It's been 2months and still haven't received all the furniture I ordered due to delay with manufacturer. Today I was told the date has been pushed back a 4th time. I understand that they have no control over the manufacturers but had they said the delay could potentially be well over 2 months I personally would've spent my money elsewhere. I think when people go into stores and are told there could be a delay they tend to think maybe a week or two not months. So by not telling customers that the delay could be well over a month prevents people from making informed purchase decisions. read more

I usually don't write negative reviews but I am so upset with the current situation that my family and I are dealing with. Let me give you the complete picture... The first incident started when we purchased two love seats in February!! We wanted to change the fabric it became a custom order which is normally fulfilled within 8-12 weeks. Well then COVID happened. Totally understandable that it took over the 12 week time frame (it took 15 weeks but again I understand)! Keep in mind that I was not contacted by anyone with an update even when it got past the 12 week mark. Well when they finally came in and got delivered I was given the WRONG item!! The fabric was right but they sent us sofas instead of love seats! I contacted customer service and they placed a new order for the love seats since it was apparently a mess up with the manufacturer (the salesperson did order us loveseats but they made sofas). It wasn't great because we had to wait AGAIN for the 8-12 weeks. And I had to make sure they did not get messed up or anything because if they weren't sent back in new condition I would be charged for them. Keep in mind I did try to decline the order but I was told that because it was custom I HAD to keep them. The loveseats did eventually arrive in less then 8 weeks so that was good. Fast forward to June and my husband and I decided that we liked having the sofas (since we had to keep the mistake sofas) so I went into the store and placed an order for one sofa to match our loveseats. This is when the second problem began!! I spoke with the salesperson and told him that I wanted to order the sofa in the SAME COLOR as the original love seats so that they would match! He said no problem! Well guess what, the sofa came in after waiting 8 weeks AND THE SOFA FABRIC DOESN'T MATCH THE LOVE SEAT!!! I contacted customer service and was told "they have to look into it". I am not really sure what needed looked into because I know what happened; I wanted the matching fabric and the salesperson ordered the wrong one. I have been sitting in the dark for TWO DAYS!!! I contacted them on Sunday, emailed them what they requested and didn't hear back (even though Donna said that she would get back to me THAT DAY). Monday I called when they opened at 10am, I spoke with Maria since Donna wasn't working that day but I need the CORRECT sofa fabric ordered (especially since its takes 8-12 weeks to come in). Maria said that she will "continue to look into it" and she promised that she would call me back that night. I called at 6:30pm (they close at 7pm) because I haven't heard back from ANYONE! I gave my name and phone number and was told she would call back that night. Well its 10pm as I write this review and I didn't receive a call from ANYONE!! I am beyond disappointed with the whole system. I am disappointed with the sales team for failing me and ordering the wrong fabric. I am disappointed with the customer service department because they are not resolving the issue. I am disappointed with the manufacturer because they didn't send the right thing that was ordered. I am frustrated, angry, and feeling like they don't care about their customers. The only thing I am happy with are the delivery guys! They have been to my house 3 times and are great!! They are respectful, professional, clean and helpful! Mathis Brothers needs to get their act together, handle this problem and stop dragging their feet. I hope I can update this review at a later time to show that this problem is resolved but the way I am being treated thus far; I am skeptical. UPDATE 8/25/20: After feeling a little let down: I called the store in Ontario, spoke with Mercedes who asked for yet another photo. I sent that photo via email (although I already sent the same photo to another customer service-oh well). Then 30 minutes later I got a phone call from Justin Lewis-a service manager from their corporate office. He was AMAZING!! He heard my concerns and within 15 minutes of getting of the phone I had a confirmation email that my corrected fabric order has been placed. I will update after its received but for now I am so thankful that the situation seems to be taken care of; fingers crossed!! read more

We went to Mathis Brothers to find a dining set with our 3 babies ( 2 year old twins and a 7 month old) expecting it to be a difficult trip, but luckily we had Hector to help us! He got us a double car and single car to push the babies in and he made sure it was clean for them. When one of our littles wanted to be carried he pushed the car for us so we would have it when needed. He was even so patient and helpful when I had to nurse my youngest and he gave me privacy to do so. We had trouble finding the perfect chairs for our dining set and Hector patiently waited while we looked at fabrics and he carried multiple different chairs to the table we had picked out so that we could see them together. Thanks to Hector we had a great experience and not only did we find our perfect dining by set, we found a sofa set and an outdoor table! read more

We needed a couch asap... and found a really good deal on a sectional. Picked it up later that same day & it was loaded by Robert Sharp.. can't say enough great things about him. There were a few ppl ahead of us however while I was waiting, Robert acknowledge us everytime he passed by. Not sure about other ppl but I really dislike when they walk passed you without so much as a hello. B4 he loaded them he asked if it was to climb in the truck & how far we were going. Once loaded he took the time to strap them down & asked if I wanted additional strapping. I said no ty, he secured them. All while with a smile, patient & in great spirits. I have purchased many items & have visited many times however this is my first review bcz of him. He went above & beyond & these days you don't get so much as thanks. Today was my second trip to Mathis Bros. I agree with most reviewers that the onslaught of associates eager and ready is daunting and annoying. However, they provide a great selection with awesome prices. Our first trip we purchased bunk beds, nightstand and a chest of drawers for my boys. We couldn't be happier. The quality of the furniture is excellent and we know they are able to use these pieces for years to come. Our second trip was today. We replaced our dining set, media console and living room set. Again items are fantastic quality and the prices are great. I wish Mathis brothers listened to their yelp reviews and toned down their eager associates. Also, at one point today during our visit it did feel as though there was a 1:1 ratio of employees and customers. A bit much, therefore lost a star. read more

Well, it's been nearly two years since my original review. I did contact Rick S through the email he provided, and included all documentation. Never heard back. We have a pretty busy life around here, and unfortunately I couldn't devote hours a week to following up. As seen in the photo below, when the cushion cover is made of good, durable material, the chair is very nice. When sub-standard material is used though, which is the case with 6 of our 8 chairs, the result is rather disappointing. She went out of her way to literally bring down an area rug to the sectional and the coffee table so that I can see it put together. Lori made us feel welcomed and was very patient with us.
