We just had our new bed delivered and set up. We are very very pleased with the bed to say the least. A week or so we walked into the Mathis store and were greeted by Dianella. She showed us a number of beds, but what is rare these days, she listened to the feedback we provided and guided us to the perfect bed for us. We placed the order and waited for delivery. About a week later the delivery guys arrived. The took the old mattress and boxspring away and installed the new bed. It looks spectacular! Daniella was able to include sheets (2 different colors) and an extra pillow. There was no haggling and the whole interaction with Daniella was very easy. Mathis brothers overall did great, but Daniella stood out for her commitment to make my wife and I happy with the process from finding the right bed through to getting sitting in our master bedroom. read more

Well, we're new to the Coachella Valley, and so, we went to Mathis for the very first time to look at purchasing a smaller furniture item for our recently purchased home. - Started out well, had a good salesperson, found a very nice quality item at a reasonable price, that well met our needs. We purchased it, and set up a home delivery. - Item arrived, and to our surprise, we expected to receive what we saw in the showroom. However, the item showed up in a compact cardboard box, and the delivery folks confirmed that there was some "assembly required" by the purchasers, meaning us. - Our chagrin was that this was not explained to us at all, by the selling salesperson, we were expecting to receive that which we viewed in the showroom, delivered and immediately fully usable. - We were eventually able to assemble it with some effort, however the amount of packing cardboard needed to be recycled was so voluminous that it completely filled our one Burr-Tec recycling bin, and then with some carry over into our trash bin. - Ultimately, we were not expecting to have the same type of purchase experience one would expect from an IKEA store, this coming from Mathis, which purports to be a little higher tier furniture dealer. It would have been very beneficial to have the assembly requirement explained to us by our salesperson prior to purchase, and, with perhaps an offered option to have the service team assemble it for us for a modest added expense. My wife and I have been around the block, so to speak, for a number of decades, and it is getting so tiresome to have to deal so often nowadays with less-than-acceptable customer service. Not sure if we'll ever go back to Mathis again, seems doubtful at this juncture, we don't want to risk another poor customer service experience. The only reason that I give this review 2 stars and not 1, is that the item we purchased meets our needs entirely, it was just getting to that end was a bit of an ordeal, which could have been prevented with better customer service from Mathis. read more

My family and I furnished our whole house with Mathis, which is where the star are coming from. In the past we haven't had any issues and quite frankly enjoyed one or two sales reps. This past month 4/2025, we just finished buying a new bed frame for our toddler and during the purchasing of the item Holly, informed us that the display bed was not sitting on a box spring. When we asked if it needed a box spring we were told we did not need one. Fast forward to us picking up the bed frame and installing we come to find that the bed frame was a key element to keeping our little boy safe while laying on the bed. Without the box spring the mattress doesn't cover the bed frame enough leaving several inches of space where he can fall and get hurt. Upon contacting Holly we were told that it was our fault because apparently she told us we needed it but my wife, myself and my parents whom happen to be there at the time all heard her say we did not need it. We were very specific asking because, again, we have purchased from Mathis before and had asked the same exact question when we purchased my daughters bed. Holly informed us to contact customer service. The customer service representatives then kept giving us the run around, forwarding us to different areas in an "attempt" to find a supervisor. Upon finding Able, apparently because of Holly's account we are required to pay for the box spring. SO at this store, the customer is not right, the employee is. In the end there was minimal effort to reconcile with us, offering us 50% but then were told we'd have to pay for some fee. Apparently this fee is nonwaivable. I was frustrated with this last min additional of the "nonwaivable" fee as it felt like, again we were being manipulated for their benefit. In the image you can see that without the box spring there is too much space at the bottom of the bed. The bed is a full size bed frame. The mattress on the bed is a full size. Maybe it's just bad luck? Well if it was once or twice MAYBE. We bought a motorized sofa and within a week, one side didn't work. Ok, the exchanged it, but the new one works, in overtime! When I get up, my side reclines all by itself. In other words, it's a piece of . Next we buy 2 lamps that were on SALE ? Only to find out these were from Ashley Furniture and Ashley's price was less without the sale! Finally, we buy an upholstered bed frame-custom made....12 weeks for delivery. Ok, but once it arrives, the front and back legs don't match, and one is crooked! AND the fabric dye lots don't match either!!! (WTF?). So, needless to say, we will NOT use Mathis Brothers Home EVER AGAIN. Piss poor quality, even though the people in customer service were very nice. That being said, I have never had the most incredible service as we have received the past couple of years with our Wonderful Sales representative, Toni Bautista, She is an absolute gem and truly knows our style and taste. We most recently purchased a matching loveseat to go with our Germaine sofa. Toni handled every aspect of the Sales and delivery with the utmost professionalism, follow up and detail to ensure a successful transaction. You are truly lucky to have Toni, as she really understands The customers needs and goes above and beyond to make you feel very comfortable and happy with your purchase. We started shopping there about a year ago when we were looking for furniture for our new house (moved to Rancho Mirage 2 years ago). Finally decided it was time to purchase. The associate Brad White was more than helpful w/our selection. Very willing to look up information for us and answered all our questions. Good balance of salesmanship and information. We purchased a W&L Askerton Firm Cal King mattress on 03/26/25. Less than a month later the mattress was failing where we slept, about an inch and a half and now 2 inches, both sides. We have tried to get this resolved only to get you need to send us more pictures. If you want to return it it will be a 400.00 restocking fee. No you can't restock a used bed! Now another picture was needed. We used a measuring stick and measurement tape to show that it is indeed failing. Now they are asking for another picture "We also need for them to be taken further back to make sure the stick is being lay'd flat on the mattress." Explain every angle needed so we aren't going back and forth and can get this resolved. How else would we be taking the picture. Ridiculous!! Check your warranty before you leave the store! This much hassle isn't worth purchasing anything there again! All this in the midst of us having to funeral. Unacceptable!!! read more

First of all I have to give the person who help me in the outlet center of Mathis Brothers 5 stars (wish I could give him more!) His name is Gary and he is so helpful and accommodating. And beyond all ... patient. I wanted it right away and he made sure that happened He checked on all sorts of different products for me and coordinated everything from delivery to assembly. Truly great guy. If you go to Matthis, ask for Gary. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because of Matthis policies regarding pricing. I was told earlier that if you found the same exact thing at a less expensive price like with Ashley furniture, you could get that lower price. But the woman manager at Matthis refused me the discount when I had already been to Ashley in Palm Desert and they we're going to give me the price I found on their website. The reason I went to Mathis is because I thought I could get it quicker which I did and that was great. The difference in price was a little less than $100 but I just felt like they should have accommoded me because I signed up for their credit card and bought several other items. My wife and I were looking into possibly purchasing a new bedroom set. It was our first time at a Mathis Home ever. There were two associates that deserve high praise for their level of professionalism, enthusiasm and knowledge. Katherine A Stone greeted us as we entered the store. She asked how our day was and what we were interested in looking at the store. She directed us to the the bedroom sets upstairs and we expressed interest in beds that had storage underneath. She informed us of the membership Mathis offers and details. She answered every question we had and with enthusiasm. Sergio Rodriguez, sleep sales associate, assisted us as we looked into mattresses. He gave real, honest insights in all the mattresses. We first looked at the purple mattresses. He provided us demonstrations and we were able to lay on the mattresses and try the base features. We looked at the tempur-mattresses and Sergio showed professionalism and kind demeanor. Lastly, we tried the intellibed. My wife and I are debating between the purple or intellibed. I expressed to both associates how much we appreciated them for their time and how I wished more places actually cared about their job and customers like they do. The scam company asked when did I notice it wearing? I said I don't know a month or so ago. We bought a sectional sofa and chair 5 years ago. Genuine leather. Within 3 years, little white spots started to appear. The set gets very little use, household of only 3 people. Month after month, the dots got worse. Closer look showed they were the "leather" flaking off. We called the extended warranty we bought, that we paid hundreds of dollars for, and found out we were one month too late. Warranty expired one month earlier. A local upholster looked at it and said it cannot be repaired. That "genuine" leather is not really leather hide. It's scrap bits of hide chewed up and rolled into fake leather pattern. Sooner or later it will split or flake. We showed the pictures to Mathis brothers. They said, "oh well". We sure won't be buying the next sofa there. read more

It really pays to go through your online statement on a regular basis. This faux pas by Mathis clarifies for me that they are a disreputable organization that will take any tactic to earn dollars from current and past customers. Two years ago we purchased a large area rug from Mathis Brothers. As part of the purchase, the salesperson registered us for the Rewards program. The rug that was delivered was imperfect and it was a hassle to get it returned and credited. In fact, we ordered that rug 2x and both were defective. This organization did not willingly stand behind their product. We had such a horrible experience working with the local Mathis Brothers representatives I asked at the time that all transactions be cancelled immediately -- we assumed that included the Rewards program. Fast forward two years later to today when I discovered that my checking account was charged $152 for the rewards program renewal. Javier the sales person is the worst. I asked for updates for my delivery, and he argued, and then lied, about our communications. He accused me of using a false number and tried to blame and shame me rather than fixing the problem. The quality of the furniture is fine, just like any other average store. The delivery people were wonderful and agreed that Javier is a menace and verbally abusive. I'm concerned about retaliation (he has my contact info) so I'm not leaving any other details. Mathis Home Co, and GBS protection plans Co has made my wife's life a living hell putting up with their inability to tell the truth and deliver items intact and what we ordered. They delivered the wrong couch twice. I had to decline the order and go to Macy's and buy a better, cheaper couch. I ordered a standard bedframe and box springs. They tried to sell me on $700 plus electric bed that we instantly declined. When I told him to take it back to the warehouse, I received a phone call from management asking me if I would accept the electric bed for the price of the $300 standard bed. I accepted. Last month early February I went in to go over the final balance after all there mistakes and returns. They also sent me a coffee table that rocked back-and-forth which I declined. Mathis home would not assist me in contacting GBS protection plans to discuss the plans. I never ordered. Desmond in the GBS office told me Mathis home doesn't know what they're talking about and there's nothing that he could do, that Mathis home needed to address the problem. I called Richard the manager at Mathis home and informed him that GBS said he didn't know what he was talking about. He laughed, got his pride hurt and got defensive. I have much more information to share. There was a screw-up where our very nice, but very new, salesman told us their "Elite" delivery service included delivery, set up and haul away. Turned out that it didn't include haul away. When the delivery guys came to deliver my recliner chair, they wouldn't take my old recliner. I was upset and called my salesman. He got his supervisor involved who confirmed that the salesman gave us bad info, but they would figure something out. The supervisor called back about an hour later, and he told me that one of their employees would pick up our old recliner on his way home, around 6:30 pm. True to his word, Antonio (who we discovered normally works in mattresses) showed up and hauled off our old recliner. Wow! I didn't know anyone had customer service like that anymore!
