I switched to this practice from another more "mainstream" OB practice around 20 weeks of pregnancy, and delivered our baby girl 4 weeks ago. As other reviewers have said, choosing Integrative Obstetrics was one of the best decisions I've made in life, period. I literally cannot imagine receiving better quality care. I was primarily under the care of Kristin, but had the opportunity to meet all four doctors, who are uniformly knowledgeable, intelligent, caring, genuine, and have excellent bedside manners. Kristin in particular is simply wonderful. From beginning to end, I felt that I was in good hands, and in retrospect she made all the best possible decisions and designed the best possible care plan for my pregnancy, and I trusted her advice completely. Unlike other OB practices where a pregnant woman can be made to feel like a commodity, Kristin and her team took at least 15-20 minutes to really *talk* to me and my husband at every appointment, *in addition* to the time spent on actual medical procedures. She coached us on what we needed to be thinking about at every stage of the pregnancy (as first-time parents, we were pretty clueless and didn't even know what questions to ask, so having a pro who offers proactive advice was very helpful). Dr. Abdelhak, who was on call when I went into labor and delivered my baby, is efficient, sure-handed, and hilarious. As a business, their office is run admirably well and every aspect of the operations very smooth, from making appointments, getting lab results, to dealing with payments and insurance. The facilities at 21 McWilliams Place are brand new, clean, and zen-like, with a beautiful park right outside the front door. The receptionists, nurses, and technicians are smart and nice. Every interaction felt personal and I knew everyone in the office by first name very quickly, and vice versa. There's an ultrasound room on premise so I conveniently received frequent growth scans, which were very reassuring to have in late pregnancy, without having to go anywhere else. The hospital affiliated with the practice, Hackensack UMC, is also excellent and worthy of the affiliation. Becoming new parents is such a nerve-wracking, intimate, monumental, once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I am so glad that Integrative Obstetrics was here to help us navigate through it. Kristin is awesome! I am a very picky consumer. I research all of my restaurants before going, and try to eat healthy organic foods only. I workout every chance I get. Health and well-being is my top priority, and when I found out that I was pregnant, I only wanted the best. I knew I needed to find someone with expertise, compassion and experience. Being a doctor myself, and having seen my sister go through three pregnancies, I knew that choosing the right provider makes all the difference. I wanted an all-natural pregnancy and all-natural labor, which meant no unnecessary medical interventions. After days of research and reading tons of reviews, I decided to go with Kristin. This was the best decision I made for myself and my baby. I can say with confidence that Kristin was everything I was looking for and more! She is very knowledgable and respectful. Throughout my entire pregnancy I felt I was in the best hands. At every appointment, she took the time to explain things and give m e pointers on how to get through the pregnancy. I actually enjoyed being pregnant. She made me feel at ease and reassured us every step of the way. Even in the delivery room, Kristin coached me with calmness and sympathy. She had me try different positions that made the progression of labor go very smoothly. Kristin accommodated all of my requests, and after 24 hours of labor, I gave birth naturally to our beautiful daughter! I had also wanted my husband to be more involved in the final stages of labor, and Kristin remembered to do that too! ( I was too busy pushing the baby out). Currently, I am running on only 5 hours of sleep and tending to my newborn, but I really wanted to write this. Hopefully, this will help someone like me who is frantically searching the internet for a great midwife. I am definitely going back to her for my second baby! Kristin is absolutely hands down AMAZING!! All throughout our prenatal care, I felt that she really cared about me and my pregnancy. She was always available and had the solution when I needed it. She was a wealth of knowledge from everything about foods and supplements to exercises and body movement techniques. I felt that she really knew me and helped me have an amazing pregnancy. I felt great! I had used a doctor with my first and I cannot even tell you the difference. Night and day. The doctor was in and out and I was lucky if I could get out a question before she was out the door onto the next patient and she basically told me everything I was feeling was normal in pregnancy and that I was crazy not to want an epidural. Kristin was the exact opposite, she always had remedies or tricks to try, and they actually worked! And she encouraged me to go for the birth I was envisioning. At the delivery, Kristin was everything I was expecting a midwife to be and more. I see now why people rave about her! Seriously, she was great. calm and kind. She was present, but not overbearing. She was able to read what I needed without me verbalizing it, and while labor is EXTREMELY difficult, I was able to cope and have the delivery I wanted, the way I wanted. She really gave me a lot of confidence in my own ability to do it and I am so so SO thankful to her and her staff Michelle and Lisa for all they did. We are forever grateful. I want to start off by saying that I had the best experience at this practice. My wife was pregnant with her 2nd child and with our first child the old practice we went to was nothing compared to this one. My wife's pregnancy wasn't the easiest we had a lot of ups and down, but when my wife needed to speak to a provider she always did, no matter the time. My wife went into labor on a Thursday and I will never forget this, she labored for 36 hours and when at the hospital she got to see each provider there. They did not rush her into delivering the baby they all were very patience and they all wanted my wife and I to feel completely comfortable about the whole thing. My wife raves about Kristin Mallon and Dr. Jonathan they are so amazing! Also the staff is so kind and welcoming. I'm a type 1 diabetic with hypertension. Pregnancy for me, was always associated with a dark cloud of complications and unknowns. Naturally, I entered my pregnancy with a lot of anxiety and fear. However, every appointment with Kristin was an absolute pleasure. I was never rushed, had all of my questions answered and I was always met with nothing but positivity and tons of encouragement. She really helped calm my fears by educating me and taking the time to explain things. At the birth Kristin used her wealth of knowledge by making positional changes and various other methods to allow me to labor peacefully and enjoy every minute of my laboring experience. I had my first daughter at another midwifery practice in New York which ended in a c-section. As I searched NJ for for a midwife that would be willing to allow me to have a VBAC I came across Kristen Mallon CNM. I cannot say enough how exceptional Kristen's practice is. Her appointments are personal and meet your needs as a patient. She was always willing to answer any questions my husband and I had. She gave us great educational material to read with the goal of us having the best outcome for my delivery. The day of my actual delivery I was easily able to contact her and ask her for advice as to when we should go to the hospital. Once arriving at the hospital she was extremely attentive and flexible in my birth. She supported every decision and helped encourage me as I pushed my little baby. Finding Mindful Midwifery was the best thing I ever did. Hands down, Kristin Mallon, Dr. Walter and the entire team at Mindful Midwifery are the absolute best you'll ever find. They are careful, thorough, thoughtful and patient. They spent quality time in every one of my appointments making sure me and the baby were healthy and answering any questions I had. Even when they were busy I never felt rushed. They answered my many panicked emails directly to ease my mind. When it came to my birth preferences, the respected and empowered all my desires. Kristin and her practice are the absolute BEST! She spent an incredible amount of time with my husband and me (first time parents), answering all of our questions at each visit. I didn't want many tests or interventions and Kristin was able to help us make informed decisions about which ones to do and skip. I believe that her holistic advice throughout my pregnancy allowed me to have the fast and drug-free birth that I wanted from the beginning.
