Super cool area with lots of shops and restaurants. We had a LARGE party of 25 with reservations and was surprised with how good the set up was and service. Our server was Ezekiel and he served the entire group by himself and nailed it. Very good cadence for checking in on his part which made the evening smoother. The food itself, however, I felt was just okay / average. We shared the cheese bread for starters - calamari - and 14" garlic chicken pizza. Wasn't anything special, but wasn't bad either.

My friends and I gather here every couple of months because it's a good middle meeting ground. Sundays at Mosaic can be a parking and traffic pain because of the market. It clears out by afternoon. This Matchbox location is a 3 start best. Why? The staff doesn't wow me. They are not accommodating and not astute enough to realize that if they deliver a Mimosa Tower(one that serves 4-6 people) then they should also provide us with glasses. We always sit in the bar area so having to stand up to get our own glasses at the bar is convenient but honestly if you are charging us 20% mandatory gratuity then bring us glasses with our giant $40 tower. We ordered 2 towers. Food is good. The plates present well and our crowd enjoyed their salads and mini burgers. Our only complaint was that the fries were not hot. Overall, this is a 3 stars because the service has always been dismal.

Brownie with Ice Cream

Our group of eight visited Matchbox for a late lunch on Saturday. The restaurant is quite spacious, offering both indoor and outdoor seating. Since they didn't have a table large enough for our group, we were split between two separate tables. Service was on the slower side. We were seated in the back of the room, and it took a while for our server to take our orders. I opted for the Restaurant Week promotion, a 3-course lunch for $25, which was a great deal. I had the arancini fried risotto as an appetizer, fish and chips for my entrée, and a classic brownie for dessert. My husband ordered the Pig & Pineapple pizza, and my niece had the Burrata & Salami pizza. Both pizzas had a thin, crispy crust and were delicious. The pricing felt a bit steep at $19 for a 10" pizza. The 3-course lunch promotion was definitely a better value. Overall, good food but service could be better.

Nice Xmas decorations

Last night we tasted the Arancini and mini burgers for appetizers, so good! THE BEST is the pizza, that you can choose two different flavors, toppings and etc, well done with full of flavors! It was a great surprise to see the restaurant very well decorated with a beautiful Xmas tree and lights all over the place. The manager, Eliana came to the table to check our food and drinks. She made us feel very special. Thank you!

Always been a fan of Matchbox pizza and recently saw on TikTok that the Fairfax and Silver Spring location have a great brunch. $35 dollars for food with a great selection on the menu and you can add bottomless (mimosas, strawberry lemon drop martini, espresso martini, and Bloody Mary for an additional $25.) The waitstaff was great and very attentive to see if we wanted more food or drinks. They are strict on the arrival time of your reservation. The fifteen minute grace period was enforced. Luckily they were still able to seat us with about a ten minute wait. The DJ was great and the music selection was even better. It was a nice vibe for a Saturday and family friendly if you have kids.

Fried catfish with grits

Food influencer recommended, slightly disappointed. Finally had the chance to try out the weekend brunch I've been seeing on TikTok and was truly unsatisfied with the dishes I ordered. The brunch is $42 per person ($14 for kids) for a 2 hrs limit. The portion size is moderate and not excessive. There's a variety of options on the brunch menu. I ordered Catfish and grits. The grits were lumpy. The spinach and artichoke dip tasted well. My favorite dish was the breakfast pizza. The steak option I recommend to avoid. It was overcooked and looked rubbery. Our waitress was nice, but was hard to locate when we need assistance. My opinion brunch isn't worth the price listed.

Crispy tuna tacos
Grace H.

Nice place with a variety of dishes. I ate the crispy tuna tacos and tried some of the pepperoni hot honey pizza. The pizza was pretty good and the hot honey flavor was nice and not too strong or sweet. The tacos were decent, but not what I was expecting. The description was "four crispy tacos, guacamole, sriracha aioli, Mexican street corn." The tacos were actually raw tuna in a light, crispy taco shell with slices of avocado on top. Nowhere in the description did it mention that it was raw, poke-style tuna, and I don't consider plain avocado slices to be guacamole. Luckily, I like raw fish and still enjoyed my meal, but I think Matchbox should really mention this on the menu. Something to keep in mind if you're considering ordering the crispy tuna tacos! Service was decent.

Interior

It's a smaller version of the Matchbox in comparison to the one in Reston, VA. The restaurant layout was somewhat cut in multiple sections and the interior felt stiff and dim. Service was good, friendly, and attentive. Not a massive selection of draft beers but good enough selections of beverages for a night out with friends. Good menu with a mixture of bar food and of course pizza. We had the calamari, sliders, chicken salad, all delicious. Overall good experience, just the ambience somewhat of a letdown given its location being right in the center of trendy Mosaic which had probably inadvertently hyped up the expectations of a great vibe. I don't feel like I would come back to this location but certainly will do the one in Reston.

Front of Matchbox

I think Matchbox would be a place I could frequent if only their service was better. I came here on a Wednesday afternoon to eat dinner. I was seated by the host once walking in but I was sitting in the far back. Maybe I should have opted for a bar section but I didn't want to be in the midst of all the noise. Sometimes you just want your own peace and quiet. After seating my server greeted me and I was able to place my drink and my food order ( I looked at the menu ahead ) and was off to a good start. The wait for this took a bit as I waited half an hour or so. I understand pizza does take time to order but my server left me stranded waiting for a bit. Not sure where they went. So a few minutes more, another server comes and ask me if I have been helped yet and I mentioned that my server hasn't came back with the pizza yet. The other goes and checks on that for me and immediately brings it out telling me it's been ready for a bit now. I was so hungry that I didn't want to have a fit about it and was just delighted to see my food. The only issue is that it's lukewarm, and the pizza is cut not in equal parts. Why am I mentioning this in the review? Because you want pizza to be equal slices if you have a group to share with and it'd be weird if you had more pizza than they did. The pizza, which was Sausage + Peppers contained garlic, tomato sauce, hot Italian sausage, roasted red peppers, mozzarella and ricotta. A nice blend of ingredients for a very solid taste. You can't go wrong with this pick. After eating four slices, I waived my hand to get a to go box. My server actually came back and noticed me after so much time passed and they were able to hand me a to go box and the check. My experience was a bit disappointing and I get something may have happened but communication is key. The service wasn't there on that visit but it could have been an off day. Hopefully I can come back and expect a much more pleasant experience.

So they have a dairy free, gluten free menu?

Yes I believe that they have a gluten-free pizza crust BUT, I would check individual stores...

Do you serve fried flounder?

Their fresh fish of the day is usually grilled

Do they still have the unlimited brunch menu?

Hi Jenny, we unfortunately do not offer the unlimited small plates brunch anymore. But we have brunch entrees available at all locations, served all day!

Does Matchbox Mosaic still have $3 mimosas for brunch?

We do not currently have mimosas for $3. We have all day breakfast, and an amazing new cocktail selection! Thank you for reaching out to us, we appreciate your support.

What's on the kids menu?

Hi Brooklyn! Hope you can join us. Here are our kids items: kids’ menu…

Is happy hour offered throughout the entire restaurant or only at the bar?

We have been coming here on and off the last few years and just recently came to eat a late brunch. The food took a very long time to come out and it was pretty disappointing in flavor. We had the breakfast burger which was just okay. The breakfast hash was lacking salt. The margarita was just so-so. We got the Sunrise bowl which was tasty and can be made without dairy. The Korean noodle bowl and the Korean steak is awesome. We also had the avocado toast which was decent. The breakfast taco was delicious and can be made dairy free. It is absolutely delicious with all the flavors coming together. It has eggs with roasted onions and mushrooms and sweet potatoes. It has since left the menu. We wish they would bring it back. The pancake is very good and can be served with coconut milk,dairy-free whip cream in lieu of regular whipped cream if you need to have it dairy-free. We love the Moscow mule that is made by the manager, Michelle. Their Thai peanut noodle bowl was very good. You can add your own protein to the plate but it makes it a little pricey but healthy. The desserts are all really pretty good: vegan/dairy free cookies and cream, and the vegan squash pie is delicious. The flourless chocolate cake was also delicious, not too sweet. We like the new espresso Martini. They can also make you a dairy free affogato, which is a scoop of their dairy free coconut ice cream with a shot of espresso. If you like coffee, this is delicious. Their shot of espresso is bold and tasty. This place has great options for vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and health conscious people. They use fresh and healthy ingredients.

Steak and Eggs: Not as Good as It Used to Be On our last three visits, we noticed that the steak and eggs were no longer prepared the way they used to be. This dish was one of the reasons we previously loved coming here, but the steak just doesn't have the same excellent flavor it once did. Perhaps the preparation has changed or there's a new chef in the kitchen. Either way, the quality seems to have declined. We would gladly give this restaurant five stars if the steak and eggs were still as delicious as they used to be. Overall, the food is now just okay. What We Recommend The Huevos Rancheros with three eggs is quite delicious! It's topped with spicy aioli, spicy sausage, and bits of cheese, creating a flavorful dish with a nice kick. The Brunch Pasta is another standout. It comes with sausage and a poached egg on top. It's very tasty and definitely worth trying! The TUBS (Ted's Ultimate Breakfast Sammy) is a great choice if you're in the mood for a sandwich. It features bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, an over-medium egg on top, cheddar cheese, and toast, served with hash browns. It's a hearty, flavorful sandwich that we highly recommend. The Breakfast Burrito is pretty good, especially if you add extra meat. The Shiitake Mushroom Hash is also worth trying. The mushrooms have a surprisingly meaty texture and are served with eggs, making this a satisfying and flavorful option. From the dinner menu, the Pot Roast is a real winner! It's tender, moist, and delicious. Highly recommended. Drinks and Desserts The Spicy Pineapple Margarita is good, especially with its Tajín rim, which adds a nice spicy, tangy touch. The White Russian Shake is pretty good, too. The Chocolate Cake is huge, rich, and delicious. It's a generous portion that's perfect for sharing. The Tater Tots and other appetizers can be tempting during happy hour, but the Tart dessert was much too sweet for our taste. Dishes We Would Skip The Patatas Bravas (potatoes topped with two eggs) didn't quite hit the spot. The dish lacked flavor and texture, and the potatoes tasted slightly dry with a bitter aftertaste. We wouldn't recommend this one. The Overnight Oatmeal Quinoa is a lighter alternative if you don't feel like eating anything greasy. It's served with fresh berries, a couple of walnut pieces, and a sprinkle of fresh mint. It's a pleasant, light option. Don't Miss Happy Hour! Ted's happy hour runs from 3:00 to 6:30 p.m. and features the Ted's Trio, which includes fried mozzarella, steak-and-cheese egg rolls, and loaded tater tots. You can also enjoy $3 off appetizers, along with specials on cocktails, beer, and wine. It's a great time to visit Ted's if you want to sample some appetizers and enjoy drinks at a better price. Overall: Ted's is a convenient choice for all-day breakfast and brunch, with several standout dishes, especially the huevos rancheros, brunch pasta, breakfast sandwich, and pot roast. However, the decline in the steak and eggs is disappointing, particularly because it used to be one of our favorites. Choose your dishes carefully, and happy hour is worth checking out!

The…read moreservice has been very good on every visit, and the bathroom has always been exceptionally clean. The Bloody Mary was good, but the avocado toast was the real standout. It had an incredible combination of black beans, charred corn kernels, feta cheese, and a flavorful kick from the chili aioli. It is the best avocado toast we've ever had! We also tried the salmon avocado toast and added two eggs, and it was delicious as well. The capers and combination of ingredients worked beautifully together. What really makes the avocado toast special is the bread. It is grilled until incredibly crunchy and perfectly toasted. They really know how to build an avocado toast, from the crisp, grilled bread to the creamy avocado, chili aioli, feta, and other flavorful toppings. Every bite has great texture and complexity. The steak and eggs were good, too. The steak was grilled to a perfect temperature and had a simple but flavorful seasoning of salt. The challah French toast was delicious--the French toast flavor was infused all the way through the bread, making every bite flavorful. The crispy corn flakes, macerated berries, and citrus cream on top added wonderful texture and extra complexity. We also love the complimentary popcorn. It is super tasty and a fun snack to enjoy while waiting for the food. The Cobb salad is another delicious choice. Everything tastes fresh, and the grilled chicken makes it hearty and filling. The grilled shrimp salad was also very good, with cashews, edamame, and jicama. The chili bowl is another good option if you're looking for something hearty. For lunch or dinner, try the filet tip pasta. It has a delicious lime flavor and is very tasty. The salmon with warm salad is another good choice. The coffee is good if you like a bold cup. And for dessert, the bread pudding is a perfect finish. It comes in a small muffin-sized portion topped with a dollop of whipped cream and a mint garnish. There are so many good choices here, and everything we've tried has been fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. We've had consistently good experiences here and look forward to coming back!

We had an incredible experience celebrating a birthday at Evelyn Rose!…read more The menu is exciting, seasonal, and features a TON of local options and farms- you can taste the difference. We decided to start by sharing the wagyu carpaccio, the fried green tomatoes, and an appetizer portion of the cavatelli- I really like that you can do appetizer portions of both pastas on rotation on the menu here. We were also brought two pieces of focaccia with incredibly flavorful olive oil (yum!). The cavatelli and the fried green tomatoes were standouts for us, the pasta had a great chew and the bolognese was really flavorful. The fried green tomatoes came topped with a pimento cheese that was incredible. For our entrees, we opted for the braised bison shoulder and the scallops. The scallops were perfectly prepared and were a very generous portion. The bison shoulder was so tender and the accompaniments were incredible- this was a perfect fall dish. We also got the charred sweet summer corn, which was delicious and came studded with the lightest goat cheese, and rustic Old Bay potatoes, which were absolutely perfectly fried and came with a side of some honey mustard. We took a good amount of the sides home and they held up for a day or two! I was really impressed with the wine list here- there were a lot of solid options. The champagne in particular was excellent (and I am picky!). Our server, who I believe was Riley, really made it a special night. He was so attentive and had excellent suggestions. One touch that was so thoughtful was that we had declined dessert because we would be having birthday cake later, but mentioned that the banana tres leches sounded so good. He brought over a scoop of the banana ice cream that's typically on top of that dessert with a candle in it! It was so kind of him to listen to us but still recognize that it was a special occasion- and it was some of the best ice cream I've had in a long time (he said it is made in house every day with duck eggs, it was so rich and flavorful). We have already booked our return reservation here! Thanks to Evelyn Rose for a wonderful night with such memorable food.
