Never have I had a better family night out than at Match. Their cocktails are all made to the perfection and I find that since my awesome waiter recommended it, I haven't bought anything but polish vodka, it's the best. All of my food was to die for good. While the atmosphere might feel slightly stuffy, it quickly transitions to a fun mystery that you can't wait to solve. 10/10 would absolutely recommend whether you're a tourist or a Norwalk native! read more

Ambience is very awkward seating is here there everywhere, industrial unfinished ceiling with very ugly BAr and there is curb Booth seating on the back. Bathrooms are Downstairs. Food is Okay just average( Appetizers are below what we expected ) Margarita was nice $15 ( very expensive ) Ribye steak $40 ( crazyyyy) Small portion of sides and they are all pricy. Server Was okay she was running all over to cover the area. We tried but we will not going back soon. You know what, Match is great. There, I said it. In a strip of typically over-priced restaurants down in Sono, this place has me thinking about it, which means it was great. I have been more than once, and frankly, my first trip wasn't amazing - I got a burger (you might know my newest rule not to eat burgers unless it is Shake Shack, Five Guys, or similar). However, I went back, and had three memorable dishes: 1) A Kale Salad (I said it); 2) A Ravioli dish split with another; 3) A Bacon-Potato-Egg Pizza. Now, the kale salad was splendid, and made me want to eat more kale salads though I never did. The ravioli was tossed in a red sauce that would make my grandmother proud - I hope they were house-made. The pizza - this damn pizza. WOW. Who knew breakfast on a pizza could make me turn into a non-vegetarian (just kidding, but seriously it could). I have had other meals, and am excited to go back. My husband and I tried this restaurant after a recommendation from another exec chef. We were told to try the carpetbaggers, Norwalk oysters with steak tartare and lots of truffles (aioli and cream). Omg, were these phenomenal! In fact, that was the only thing I really liked and would return for. I wasn't sure if I'd actually enjoy the tartare but with the truffles it melted beautifully. I also ordered the forest pizza with mushrooms, pesto, goat cheese and thyme. 2-3 ppl can easily share a pizza. I found it really oily and wasn't impressed with the mushrooms and flavor. I wondered if the Greek salad version would have been better. A bummer. My husband ordered the steak frites as medium. I had a taste from the end which was brown inside so tasted dry and unflavored. I noticed as he continued to slice through while eating that it wasn't evenly temperatured-parts med well, light pink to very pink. He also didn't taste any meat flavor. He didn't like the balsamic onions (I didn't taste it)-however the accompanying garlic spinach I thought was very well executed-soft not mushy but nicely flavored. He's mixed on whether he would order it again there. The iced tea tastes weird and I'm sensitive to this. It's a cool spot in town and seems to be really hip with inside and outdoor seating. I would recommend making reservations since it fills up and seems like outside and the bar might be your ticket if you are without one. read more

Tonight is the third time I have visited Match for dinner. Each time I visit I am more impressed with the food. I always order the roast chicken, I can't get over how good it tastes. Delicious appetizers included burrata, tuna tartare, fantastic calamari, oysters, bruschetta and garlic bread. The spinach salad was also tasty. The swordfish steak entree was cooked to perfection in the wood burning oven and delivered wonderful smoky flavour. Other entrees also looked to be very good. From David's friendly greeting to Chef Matt Storch cooking to perfection and constantly creating new culinary treats, we always look forward to going back. Tonight we had the best porterhouse steak we have ever had. I closed my eyes and thought I was savoring a Peter Lugers steak on their best day. Not only did we get a porterhouse that could feed 3 people, Chef also includes onion balls, broccoli, mashed potatoes and gravy. The steak had natural juices that made this the most delicious steak I have ever had. Taste, texture, juice, smell all combine to make this steak a 10 Plus. All the above was only $92.00, that's incredible! We started the meal with an arugula salad with an amazing hot dressing. Our desserts are old favorites, the best tiramisu with coffee beans dipped in chocolate and home baked chocolate chip cookies garnished with caramelized banana and pistachios. Agree with other reviewers - this place has lost its soul and appears to be much more about the margins than the food. I've been here when the food quality and creativity blew my mind, but what remains is a sad remnant. To give credit where it's due, the bread and pizza are still outstanding. The ambiance is also very hip. The wine was very good. Based on these three things, this restaurant may be for you. I'd stay far away from the rest of the menu though. The cacio e pepe was embarrassing. The chicken was fair. What really offended me however was the beet salad. Not the fact that it was $13 for a plate of canned beets, but that the waitress lied profusely about them being roasted in the brick oven. read more

Fantastic Experience with Engagement Party Earlier this month my fiance and I had our engagement party of around 75 people. The food was amazing. Every dish they brought out the entire evening was someone in the rooms favorite. People are still talking about it even weeks later. The staff, without exception, was accommodating, professional, and friendly. They let us choose our own music and were really willing to help us with dietary restrictions. Matt was super helpful setting it up prior and every person who staffed the party was excellent. I would recommend Match to anyone. Between food, service and even vibe, this is an instant favorite. If I could give half stars, I would round down to a solid 2.5. My friend and I arrived here on Saturday night with no reservations. After standing at the front for a bit, we were finally acknowledged. The host chuckled when we said we didn't have reservations and told us our best bet would be the bar. That's fine, there were two seats opening up. Once we settled in at the bar, I asked the bartender which of the whiskey drinks he recommended. He told me the margarita. Um, okay a margarita with bourbon? I then clarified that I was asking about the whiskey drinks and asked if a particular one was good and he said, "Yeah it's fine." Way to sell the drink buddy or point me in the right direction. The bartender left for a period of time to go make our drinks along with everyone else's in the restaurant that had ordered. During this time, the lady bartender walked by and I asked if she could put in an order of calamari. She said she wasn't sure if they had it, so she would check. At this time, another guy came over and literally took the menus out of our hands while we were reading and were told that we'd get a new one shortly as they are out of a lot of food since the restaurant will be closed the following week. Okay, weird, but whatever. The first bartender then comes back with our drinks along with drinks for the guests adjacent to us. Obviously, he could not remember who ordered what. He put the drinks down without smiling, or telling us to enjoy. The calamari was delivered and we placed our entree orders. After we were done with the calamari, the female bartender asked if we needed anything else or just our check. Um, yes, the food that we just ordered. Oh right, you forgot to enter it into the POS system. She came back from "checking" on our food only to clarify our order so she could actually enter it. Look, it's fine, we all forget things, but don't try to play cool, just own up to it. Not once was my water refilled while we were eating. We were asked if we wanted more drinks after sitting with empties for 10 min. But the worst of it all, was trying to pay for our meal. For 15/20 min, I was trying to get the bartender's attention to get the check. At this point there were literally 6-8 people at the bar. It was not busy. Finally after begging to pay (literally had asked him 3 times at this point by both hand motions and verbally asking him), I was brought the check and not thanked. What lacked in service was made up by the food. Everything we ordered was delicious, so there's that. At the end of the day, I'll take stellar food over stellar service and mediocre food. The employee's should take a clue from the restaurant's name and light a fire under their ass. I've never experienced such inattentive, slow and lackadaisical service. YUMMO. Now I can see why this place is so popular. I took my friend out for dinner before she moved to California and this was one of her top choices. I'm so glad it was! This is coming from a girl who drove all the way from NYC, with 30 mins of traffic, just to come here. What was the first thing I did when I arrived? Order a glass of Riesling and soak in the relaxation. The atmosphere is different than nyc. Less hectic and more laid back. My entrée was the roasted chicken and let me tell you, it was pretty damn good. All the spices were infused in the chicken and so flavorful. This is one of the few Sono restaurants which has withstood the test of time. I love how the menu always changes seasonally, but they also have year- round staples. Match uses local produce whenever possible and are not afraid to try new flavor combinations. Service is also excellent. I am still dreaming of the thick cut bacon with buffalo mozzarella and the sweet/spicy glaze. I wanted to lick the plate. Can't wait to go back. read more

It is much larger than it looks and has a nice layout and decor. The bartenders were very nice and attentive--they made some good suggestions. I ordered a pineapple flirtini...VERY good! They have a huge wine list, with some great looking bottles. I did sneak a peak at the menu...I would definitely come back to try the food, especially after seeing the waiters go by with dishes! read more

I felt compelled to write this review. I went with my girlfriend for a quick dinner, never made a reservation and they managed to squeeze us in outside under a heater. Our server was excellent, personable, totally on his game, made great recommendations, and just delivered perfectly. The owner/chef was walking around which is always a great sign. We had the steak tartare (outstanding), the Caesar salad (very good, they even separated it as we split it), the old way margherita pizza (very good) and the wood grilled chicken (outstanding). I had been here a few years ago and match was great then. It's even better now! I live in Boston, but can't wait to go back! Well done! read more
