    CALAMARI
    Zoe W.

My boyfriend treated me to dinner here, a spot I'd never been before and it was wonderful! While the menus on the pricier end, the food is exquisite and the service was amazing! We started off with one of our favorite appetizers, calamari. We both agreed this was the best calamari we've ever had- very flavorful and unique. My boyfriend ordered the smaller portion of the truffle fettuccini and I ordered the larger portion of the bolognese. Both were absolutely delicious! I would definitely recommend getting the smaller portion of the pasta unless you're super hungry. The larger portion (technically the entree) was far too much for me to eat. By the end of our meals we were both too full for desert. Our server was wonderful and constantly came to check in on us. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They weren't too busy at all which was nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I hope to be back in the future!

Match delivers on all fronts! The meatballs, truffle tagliatelle, meat ragu tagliatelle, and carpetbaggers are absolute must-orders--rich, flavorful, and perfectly executed. The hen of the woods mushrooms? You can skip them..... [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is gorgeous, and if you can, grab the giant purple booth for the best seat in the house.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Can't wait to return! Amazing service. Ask them to tell you why and how they designed the menu from the owners perspective! GET THE CARPETBAGGERS.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute interior bar, fantastic range of options and great drinks![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had the Forest Flatbread which had spinach, mushrooms, mozzarella and goat cheese. Thin, crispy and delicious wood-fired pizza crust. My first drink was a margarita, which was okay, though it tasted a bit too much like sour mix. My second drink was a dry gin martini, which came out great! Would love to come back and try more options. Great little spot on Washington street and the bartender was friendly and attentive.

First off - our server was amazing and attentive and an adorable delight! The food was spectacular - last time we were here was eons ago for Mothers Day brunch and now I can't believe we let it go so long! Putting this spot into our regular rotation for certain. Didn't take photos of everything but my faves were the truffle pasta, the pumpkin ravioli, the foie was incredible with the hazelnuts and spiced pears, the burrata, the chocolate cake - ok so basically everything we ordered was my favorite! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Loved sitting In the front by the window and sharing all our plates family style - really want to go back tonight again lol[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Food is always good. We tend to always order similar things, I guess habit. The calamari, which we didn't take pictures of is delicious, especially if you are a fan of olives. Cocktails and mocktails are amazing! The spicy margarita is perfect. Service is amazing. Our server Peter was having a great day because he was top notch. Gratuity is included, and I didn't mind when you have such great service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's such a chill place and a wonderful vibe, we will be back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We have been looking forward to eating here for months. My husband grew up in West Port, and we were looking for somewhere new and snazzy to get reservations when we visited this week. The best thing about this place is the food, but before I share those details I want to brag on the staff. From the moment we walked in, we were treated with so much professionalism and kindness, as well as enthusiasm and expertise. They have really great wait staff, hosts, etc. Everyone we interacted with provided the highest level of service. The wine list is impressive and I was thrilled to find a super Tuscan at a reasonable price on the menu (it was insanely good!). But the food is the real star here. These dishes were just incredible. Flavor was intense, seasoning was perfection, and the temperature was exactly on point. I would not have changed one thing. I highly recommend the chicken entree. The restaurant itself is spotlessly clean and we got great seats by the windows up front, which were perfect for people watching the street traffic. The place has a nice vibe of contemporary decoration mixed with functional classics. I do have to note that in other cities, I have paid 2-3 times the price for a meal of this caliber. The pricing of the menu is so reasonable. This is great food, at a great price, in a beautiful atmosphere, being prepared and served by very talented foodies. It was an amazing date night spot.

tl;dr - Best gnocchi I've had in my life! Which says a lot, because I've tried many disappointing gnocchi. The bistecca alla fiorentina is also delicious but it's a lot of food for 2 people. Carpetbaggers - 6 fried Norwalk oysters with truffle cream, truffled steak tartare, and truffle aioli. As someone who doesn't usually enjoy oysters, these made me want to grab seconds. (10/10) Tuna tartare - Comes on top of a large cracker which is a bit tough to cut, and is drizzled with sweet soy and an avocado sauce. It had a bit too much sweet soy sauce for my taste. (8/10) Octopus frites - Braised and charred octopus with fried red potatoes. Solid dish, I'm just not the biggest octopus fan. (7/10) Greek salad - Lettuce, diced tomatoes, and feta cheese, served on a warm spanakopita (Greek spinach pie with feta cheese). It's a nice salad, but it doesn't compare with the other dishes I tried. (8/10) Bistecca alla Fiorentina - 60 oz Porterhouse, served with broccoli, mashed potatoes, pearl onions, and a bordelaise sauce. It says it's for 2 people, but it's so much food that it's really for 3-4. So delicious if you can find people to share it with! (10/10) Gnocchi - Gnocchi is usually my least favorite type of pasta. I'm not a fan of their texture, and how they get stuck to the roof of your mouth. But this gnocchi dish was my favorite of the night and probably the best gnocchi I've ever had. They're tossed with peas, mushrooms, spicy Italian sausage, thyme, shallot and cream. The flavor and texture was heavenly. (10/10) Strawberry rhubarb crisp - Warm fruit topped with an oat crumble, served with pistachio gelato. Delicious way to end the meal. (9/10)

This review is based on my firsthand experience as a customer of this business on May 24, 2024, and on many other occasions since moving to Norwalk in 2010. Match has anchored the SoNo restaurant district in Norwalk since 1999 while countless others have come and gone. These's a reason. His name is Matt Storch. You just can't go wrong here. Discovered Clos de los Siete on the Matxh wine list. This outstanding Argentine mostly Malbec pairs perfectly with the Osso Bucco. The correct name for this business is Match. Just like it says on the pizza box. While it's true Match is a restaurant, the word "Restaurant" is not part of the name. Kind of like how I'm a person, but the word "person" is not part of my name. It's not really complicated , yet somehow Yelp got it wrong even for this very well known Connecticut institution.

Walking up and down Washington St in SONO trying decide on a restaurant for dinner with a friend and this place was bustling! Very busy! For us, that was a good sign and a good choice on a whim. Food was flavorful. Garlic bread had fresh sliced garlic.m served with a ricotta spread. Pizza dough was light and crispy.

We had a gift certificate here and so glad it encouraged us to try! The oysters were top 5 best things we have ever eaten. The flavors hit all in the right order at the right times. The farm salad was nice and the latke was a nice surprise. We also got the steak and fries, and ravioli which were all good. It got very busy on a Friday so a reservation is a must. Even though it was busy the food came fast and hot. Parking is easy if you park outback in the metered public parking lot. We will be going back!

My first meal was the Caesar salad, which was outstanding. The poached egg was cooked perfectly with that soft, medium‑boiled center I love. The Parmesan was fresh, the dressing was balanced, and the grilled chicken was a generous, well‑seasoned portion. Simple, clean, and delicious. The ambience is a huge part of the charm -- a cozy, wood‑cabin feel with a great bar setup. You can get full service at the bar, enjoy top‑shelf drinks, and watch the TVs without it feeling like a sports bar. It's a comfortable mix of locals and travelers, and the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. Benny behind the bar was great, and he made the experience even better with fun conversation and excellent service. For dinner, I tried the pasta with sausage, which was flavorful without being overly salty. You can tell they use quality ingredients. The mussels were a standout -- the broth was clean and delicious, with a white‑wine base, a touch of tomato, fresh herbs, and just the right kick from jalapeño. One of the best mussel dishes I've had in a while. The wine selection was also very good and paired nicely with the dishes I tried. After several meals back‑to‑back, I can confidently say this place delivers every time. Great food, great service, great vibe. There was street parking when we got there but they also have valet and some self parking in the back. As we walked in, the ladies at the host stand were so warm and inviting. They were also the cutest ever. They encouraged us to sit out on the patio versus the bar so we headed upstairs. Our waitress came over with menus and it went downhill from there. She was so inattentive that we had to ask the other waiter for things we needed. He was engaging, checked on us and we even chatted about his Jordanian heritage and my trip there back in December. Our actual waitress, however, checked on the table next to us 6 times (yes I counted) in between her checking on us. Even when I ordered a mocktail, I guess they didn't have the one I wanted so she brought me an entirely different drink without asking me. Then got upset when I didn't want it. The absolute audacity. As far as the food, we got the crab cake, lamb, whipped mashed potatoes and the bread. The food was good but the bread took it to another level. It should have been complimentary though but that's neither here nor there. Overall, loved the experience but wish we had another waitress. She didn't even acknowledge my friend's birthday. Sigh.

After doing a little research, I came across The Wheel, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. I made a reservation for Sunday brunch. Finding the entrance was a little confusing at first, and parking took a minute to figure out, but I eventually learned you can park for free at the Village next door, which made things much easier. Once I arrived, I was immediately greeted and shown to the outdoor seating area. Walking through the restaurant, I was impressed by how beautiful the property is. It is incredibly spacious, sits right on the water, and even has an additional outdoor area next door where you can relax away from the restaurant. The views alone make this place worth visiting. Our server, Freddy, was fantastic. He was friendly, personable, and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the menu, answer questions, and offer recommendations, which made the experience even better. Now onto the food. To start, we shared the Breakfast Pizza, topped with smoked bacon, crispy potatoes, roasted garlic, mozzarella, two eggs, and fresh cracked black pepper. It was a fun twist on brunch and had great flavor. We also ordered the Shrimp and Grits, made with cheddar grits, wild caught shrimp, a poached egg, and chimichurri. Rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. The Crispy Chicken Sandwich looked outstanding. Made with organic Murray's chicken, hot honey, coleslaw, and dill pickles, it came with fries and disappeared quickly. For my entrée, I ordered the Steak and Eggs, featuring grilled hanger steak, two eggs, breakfast potatoes, and chimichurri. The steak had excellent flavor, although I ordered it medium and it came out closer to well done. It was my only real issue with the meal. We also tried a couple of cocktails. The Orange Crush was refreshing and perfect for brunch, while the bourbon, Aperol, peach, Earl Grey, and lemon cocktail was smooth, balanced, and equally enjoyable. Dessert was the perfect ending. The Take 5 Sundae with peanut butter crunch, pretzels, whipped cream, vanilla bean caramel, chocolate ice cream, and hot fudge was absolutely delicious. We also had the Tres Leches, topped with strawberries and vanilla whipped cream, which was light, moist, and a great way to finish the meal. Overall, everything we ordered was delicious. Aside from the slightly confusing entrance, parking, and my overcooked steak, the entire experience was outstanding. The waterfront setting, excellent service, beautiful atmosphere, and quality food make this one of the best brunch spots in Stamford. I will definitely be back. Next time I already have my eye on the Banana Buttermilk Bread, Village Breakfast, Braised Short Rib Hash, Wheel House Burger, Margherita Pizza, Smoked Salmon Pizza, and the Crispy Chicken Sandwich for myself. For drinks, I want to try the Charred Citrus, One in a Melon, and the Orange Crush. And I definitely need to save room for the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake.
