After I paid the service fee, he told me he needed approval to continue. I went more than seven days without being able to flush my toilet or use my shower, and the service fee was never refunded. He also claimed to have diagnosed the problem, but never scoped the line and did not have the proper equipment to complete the job. Based on my experience, I would not recommend any plumbing services from an inexperienced technician. I strongly suggest making sure going with another contractor that has the proper equipment and experience to fully diagnose and complete the job. As a precaution, if you encounter or get him as a contractor do not pay an upfront service fee until he can fully diagnose and have the equipment on the day of service as it seems he'll come out and wont return for days without completing the job!

Be aware and watchfull: Plumber Eric with Martinez Maintenance Pros. who is contracted with Choice Home Warranty company. Came out to repair a couple leaks and the toilet. It took him 3 trips out because he didn't properly repair the issues. He said first trip out was to assess the issues and get approval for the repair. He told me the service fee I handed him my card, he said he couldn't take payment that way. I asked do you have cash app or Zelle? He said no, he could only take cash. He was given cash then he started to leave.....without giving me a receipt. Funny thing, I saw on "Thumbtack" that those are the forms of payments that he takes. 2nd trip...kitchen sink leak he said was repaired...it wasn't he had to return to replace the faucet. So, I sent him a picture of the one I wanted which was under the allowance given by the warranty company, Apparently he chose a different faucet as a replacement without informing me of the type. The replacement didn't fit the hole pattern. 3rd trip... he was to replace the faucet, I wasn't home when he came. When I got home, I saw the sink had a big gapping hole. I called him about the hole and he told me most customers go buy a cap or a soap dispenser. I said why would I do that when the faucet I showed him had a dispenser. He said he paid more out of pocket for the one he installed, and if he came back I'd have to pay for installation. Obviously, {another cash transaction}. So, now I'm stuck with a big gapping hole in the sink, where even more water could leak through. Eric was scheduled to come back out to replace the faucet and was a no call no show 3 times. He keeps cancelling the appointments.

He did a great job of putting in my new sink, hardware, and garbage disposal. He cleaned under the sink and around the floor and shelf where there was sawdust, my hole was not square. I found Sonny Vigil on the internet, reviewed what people said about him and from my vantage point as a real estate broker and small business owner, picked him out of the crowd. I wanted somebody I could trust and somebody I could recommend to my clients if they need a referral. The regular handyman I had used over the years had gone out of business. Sonny put together a HomeStyles portable kitchen island for me. The package alone weighed 115 pounds. No way could I have put this together myself. He struggled with it, found a few problems with the instructions (what else is new?), showed me the problems along the way, and together we decided on simple fixes that would make it work. And work he did. He did a fabulous job. He also hung a very heavy mirror exactly where I wanted it, fastened it with a gorilla wall molly that he supplied (I had my own hanger, but he preferred his own that he knew would work). Measured and marked everything and made sure it was level. Perfect job! He fastened storage units to the inside of cupboard doors so that I had a place to put wax paper/plastic wrap/aluminum foil in one and pan and pot lids in another. Made sure everything fit. Did a great job. He moved a heavy file cabinet so I could reach my shredder. Then he cleaned up everything, carried the trash out to the trash dumpster and brought up the shipping manifest for the kitchen island that I had forgotten to take from the package . All these things were household fixes beyond my reach. He did every bit the job I was hoping for and charged me a reasonable fee after eyeballing the job when he got here. He brought his wife along (it was Sunday) and we chatted about a lot of things we had in common all the while Sonny worked. I was thrilled with his work.
