Went in for a kids cut (5 yr old). First off $24... wanted a mohawk cut. Hair was pretty short already. When done 5 yr old says that doesnt look like a mohawk and it wasnt. Young lady was afraid to fix it. Overall pretty poor cut. read more

I haven't gotten my hair dyed or done anything to it except get it trimmed for the past four years, so I decided to take a chance and dye my hair! Sheena (i apologize if i misspelled her name) was the absolute best color hairstylist I've had and I used to dye my hair a lot, so I've come across quite a few hairstylists/colorists. She was very careful and patient with the entire process and made sure I got exactly what I wanted, if not better. Not only is she skilled in hair coloring/cutting/styling, she is a kind person and it was very easy to converse with her. I will definitely come back for her for future haircuts/coloring and recommend her to everyone. read more

Do NOT go to Rachel at this mastercuts. I needed a trim and some layers l, simple stuff. She totally butchered my hair. The layers were choppy, uneven, and she took out whole CHUNKS of hair that she shouldn't have touched. She's a nice person and I enjoyed talking to her, but when I asked her to fix the layers and blend them together she only made it worse. I decided I didn't want her to touch my hair any more so I left and came back later so someone else could try to fix it. They did the best they could, but my hair will still look awful until it grows out. read more

For the last two years, I've come here every month or two, to get my eyebrows cleaned up. I used to get nervous if I had someone new, as we've all heard the horror stories. I think I've had every stylist do my brows now and they always come out perfect. My fiancée sees Lyndsey for haircuts and she does a superb job. He has a cut that needs routine maintenance, and she has sculpted his hair perfectly. I've started getting my hair trimmed / maintenance from Lyndsey as well, as it's significantly cheaper than my normal place. Ask for Lyndsey when you go! read more

I got a haircut from Myriam (not sure how to spell it!) a few weeks back and forgot to review. I asked for several inches off my layers and bangs and she did a great job! It's a few weeks later and I'm still pleased with how my haircut looks and has started to grow out. She looks pretty young and I was a little apprehensive as I've gotten some bad haircuts from newer beauticians before - but I was really happy with the amount of time she spent on my hair and how careful she was to make sure my hair was cut evenly and the way I wanted it! Also - I know the majority of people enjoy having a good conversation with their hair stylist, but I enjoy having it be more of a quiet and relaxing experience and I got that with Myriam. She probably sensed that I wasn't a big talker so we really only talked about how I wanted my hair to look. If was very nice! So if you enjoy this type of hair experience I would definitely recommend her and I will be returning to this Mastercuts again! read more

I just want to mention, while it has been years since our visit to this salon -- it changed our lives in ways we could have never predicted. It turns out my son has sensory perception disorder which means his nerves are in constant overdrive. Everything he feels is amplified. This horrible day has resulted in a boy who, at 7 years old, still cannot be comforted out of tears when he goes to the hair stylist. Most of the time he just sits there sniffling and with a wet, red face (but he doesn't fight it). When the person giving a haircut inevitably asks why he tells them he is afraid they will hurt him. Often he adds that he does not understand why he cannot shake the fear but he adds it is so potent it is overwhelming. It is then I usually have to explain something bad happened in the past. This place was that "something bad." ------ Edit : This is my old review My son was taken here for a hair cut because his father forgot to go with "the usual girls" at another salon. He figured it was cheap, and close to the play area he wanted to stay at. This is the story of how a four year old was butchered in Olympia. It started as a rather normal afternoon. My child sat in the chair expecting a haircut he could trust because when he was younger the pair of sheers used in his first cut were not properly adjusted so hair was pulling painfully during the trim. Rather than realize this - because it was my child's first haircut - his father presumed the fussiness was related to "first time" not pain. Once it came turn for his father to get his hair cut he winced and explained what was wrong with the sheers while adjusting them, stating he could not tolerate more than a second without tears coming to his eyes, but this meant my son was traumatized long long ago during his very first cut so we tell people DO NOT PULL ON HIS HAIR. First thing the woman does at this salon is jerk his hair around as if it were some sort of handle for his little head. He didn't come in shaking his head no, nor was he fussy. He was actually excited until this moment. When she started to YANK he started to cry into his own hands with his head hung like a defeated animal subjected to an abusive kennel attendant. She stripped him with the same amount of care you would show taking wool off a sheep -- only she missed parts and made his entire cut so uneven we're not sure we can salvage it without a full head shave. My son's father was enraged. Never in his life had he wanted to hit a woman until that day. He wanted to strangle this teenager who was barely qualified to hold a pair of SAFETY scissors let alone become a stylist. I am guessing by other reviews there are some good people, and some god-awful people. This place looks very hit or miss. We are incredibly upset and shall never be returning to this salon because clearly they do NOT look for quality in their employees or the skills those employees possess. My son looks horrible now. Hair is sticking up at odd angles all over his head when he came in with straight long locks past his nose and almost to his shoulders. The first thing he said when he got home was, "The lady tried to kill me with her scissors" and he tried to show me how she was "cutting and pulling and cutting and pulling and it hurt *my son's name* real bad !!" This is from the child who has been standing in the way of 10 year olds zip lining at LBA park, and has repeatedly been kicked in his body and head to the point he flies and collides with bark chips then stands back up and just laughs. Yes, we do make jokes about this innocent boy-behavior but he is not mentally disabled - just male, and proud of it. Normally my boy is strong so when he tells me some woman "hurt his head really bad"... well ... I think I've said enough. DO not take your children here unless you work with a person over the age of 35. It seems the younger ones are using people as practice dolls in this place. They need to go back to salon school. They probably barely passed with a C-. read more

Honestly if I could give no stars I would! My husband and I took our son to get a much needed hair cut. He's 3 and he fidgets, they said he's fine we will do it no problem. The lady that cut our sons hair is very nice, her name was Sun. She was nice, but she didn't know how to cut hair. We had asked for a medium fade, and short on top. She gave our son a bowl cut! I asked her to just trim it more down and she said she had an appointment and couldn't. I asked other people in the store and they were "to busy." I understand that people have appointments and things, but they could have fixed it. I spent 20 dollars on the worst hair cut for my son. His hair looks awful... not impressed... read more

I walked in at almost 2 1/2 hours before closing. I asked for a haircut and was possibly getting color. I just asked how much for color. The two girls at the counter starting freaking out that it's too close to closing and they wouldn't have enough time. I've had my hair colored many times and it hardly ever takes more than 2 hours! I just got a haircut it was literally 3 mins. She barely cut the ends and didn't give me the layers I asked for. I was very disappointed and won't be coming back !!! read more

I have a hair cut session with Alex and I just have to say it is a waste of my time and money. After my hair cut, I noticed she leave strand of hair uncut. So I went in again, she is apologetic and trim it. Then this morning, I noticed all hair is uneven and looks horrible. My husband even joke about I should let my 4 years old son cut it. Maybe it depends on who you get. I've always had really good experiences here. Pam is wonderful. They're always well staffed. I've never had to wait very long and they're a great value. You can't go in expecting tea, hot towels and a neck massage, but you're paying $16 for a haircut. Get over it. I hate paying more than $20 to get my hair done and Mastercuts fills that void for me. Mastercuts at the Westlake Mall in Olympia is where we always go. Lien and Pam are fantastic! The other stylists are really great too. Lien has been cutting mine and my daughter's hair for years. Pam cuts my daughter's hair often too. We are always happy with our haircuts. They recognize us and know our hair, and what to do with it. I highly recommend them! read more

Ugh! Make sure to read the RECENT reviews on this place. I called to make an appointment for my son to get his haircut, and they told me that they do walk-ins and that there may be about a 20-ish minute wait when we get in. They didn't even mention that if they schedule appointments, so I pack up the kids and drive over. Once there, one of the stylists greet me, but the woman at the front desk says NOTHING. Not even eye contact for almost three minutes while I wait, awkwardly standing there waiting for her to acknowledge our presence. (Which is arguably hard to do with a six year old and a two year old. You know when we're anywhere.) Finally she tells me it'll be about 10-15 minutes to wait for a stylist, and that we could go and come back in about 15 minutes. I go wrangle the kids for 15 minutes out in the mall, which is no small feat with them, and then come back. I get greeted again, like they don't remember us at. all. Every stylist is with someone, even the people that walked in BEHIND us. There's no one working the front desk, and after standing there again, quite awkwardly now - it becomes clear that everyone else has been helped and we've been skipped over. We leave, and no one says anything, because clearly they didn't want to help us in the first place. I called the Hair Masters across from the mall, and zip! We get in and out and all nice sparkling haircut in a matter of minutes. Lesson learned - there are WAY better places to get a hair cut, don't waste your time and money here. read more

Just wanted a light trim, cleaned up around the ears. She took less than 2 minutes, didn't give me a mirror, and when my hair dried I looked in my mirror and both sides were just hacked with hunks cut out. I would go back but I don't want her to touch my hair again. read more

Had my daughters hair trimmed here a couple of weeks ago. I had to have it fixed by another salon because it was so poorly cut, with long strands in the front, and randomly throughout the back. I didn't want the same stylist to fix her hair because my daughters hair was already cut shorter than she was hoping for, I didn't want her to go even shorter. Pros, the staff seemed nice, and the salon was clean. read more
