My 11 year old daughter has wore her hair long and straight for her entire life. She recently decided she wanted to try a new style. Luxe is close to our house and they have great reviews, so I called and asked for someone good with teen styles and got an appt with Prestley. I received a text to confirm appt, and a reminder, which was nice. The salon is so nice! The ambiance is clean and minimalistic with a nice little gift shop in part of the salon. They had drinks for customers as well (coffee, tea, water, etc). Anyway, on to the actual hair cut Prestley discussed all of the options with my daughter, including how she would need to style hair for certain cuts, the amount of effort needed, etc. She was so informative and patient as we asked questions about different styles. My daughter settled on curtain bangs and some face framing layers. She was so ecstatic with the results. She has been smiling from ear to ear about her new hair cut. Prestley's attention to detail was fantastic and the cut seems perfect. They used very nice products as well. The hair cut was 39.00 which is a little steep, imo, for an 11 year old's hair cut but in the end, you get what you pay for. Prestley is very knowledgeable about trending styles and is a master at her craft. Looks like we will be back next time my daughter needs a hair cut. Went in to Luxe today for the first time and Starr was my stylist. I am so pleased. She did an amazing job, it is different than what I had before. it actually has style now...lol Having long hair, seeing a new stylist is always scary, she was kind, interesting and listened to what I wanted along with giving her suggestions. Since moving out here almost 6 years ago, I've sadly only gotten my hair cut twice. This coming from someone that used to get my hair cut like clockwork every 3-4 months. With that, I've been on the hunt for a place that I felt comfortable at. I mean nothing beats my hairstylist friend that would come to my house and cut/color my hair but I'll admit, this place is a close second. The vibe is welcoming, the ladies I interacted with were amazing. The little shopping section is so cool to see as a fellow small business that creates handmade items as well, its nice to see a collection of beautiful creations. I know where I'll be stopping by when I want something unique. I was in desperate need of getting my hair chopped off. I've never really been picky with how short I have to cut it, I've always just focused on the health of my hair and goodness, it needed to all go. Starr and I went with taking my hair from my lower back all the way up to my shoulders. The weight taken off felt AMAZING right away. It has taken me some time to get adjusted to the difference as far as what I do with it but goodness, I feel a million times better. Normally I would not take the time to write a review, but after my experience with Luxe for Style I feel inclined. I recently moved from California and was looking for a studio that provided Bellami hand tied wefts. My recommended stylist was Millie. She is a very sweet girl, and I'm sure she can provide other services well but I would not recommend for extensions. After she dropped my extensions and reinstalled she did not put a bead close to the ends of the extension causing them to stick through my hair, I called twice to go back in to have them redone. On the third time I called Dena answered the phone I told her my name to which she replied" I know who you are", I told her the issues with my hair and she replied there is nothing I can do for you over the phone I will get with Millie and have her call you back. They never called me back lmao. This is the first time I have had a hair studio treat me like this and not back up their work. Extensions are expensive and it's important to have them done by a professional so that you don't have issues like me or potential hair loss. I have had extensions for 3 years and never seen this lack of professionalism or poor quality of work. I never called and was rude or difficult to work with. I just want my hair to be done with quality and I don't feel that is too much to ask for especially considering the cost. So I am not quite sure why I was treated like that, but I will not be coming to this studio for future services. I feel really bad giving a 2 review, I thought about this a lot and how to state my feeling and personal experience. I just moved back to Washington after being gone 5 years. I had a great hairstylist and I Was hopeful that if I went to a posh and expensive salon I would get amazing hair. That was my first mistake, granted the salon it's self is very nice. I was not ready for how things transpired. I met with my stylist and showed a photo of how my hair looked and asked if she felt she could give me the same results. I had a pixie and I just wanted it cleaned up my hair had grown out and I needed highlights and a good cut. She said of course, I was hopeful after this was a posh salon in downtown Oly. Well...I walked out after almost 2 1/2 hours think " okay, I can make this work" not " omg I love it" the dread set in. It looked terrible, It looked like a grown out pixie everything I had asked for was missing . Such as a good clean up in the back shave the baby hairs, make it high and tight. It didn't happen and it looked terrible! I was so sad, after all I paid $220 for hair that looked terrible. I had in all my years never had this happen. I sat on it and thought about it. I called and asked if I could get my hair fixed and they put me in with a different stylist. I was thinking " yes, someone else to place eyes on this mess" however, they called me back and said " we called your stylist and she would like the opportunity to fix it" I said "ok" against my better judgment. Sigh.... I went in a few days later, and she " cleaned it up" not really I keep asking her to shave it and make it clean . She was saying " it gives it dimension and style" ....no, see , no it doesn't it looks awful. I brought my son with me and he made a comment " I need my hair cut" I paid $25 dollars for a cut and maybe even more. It was terrible. I feel so bad saying that, but seriously. My husband as why is his hair sticking up? He had long strains of hair in his face. I was just disappointed and expected more. I read amazing reviews about this place and they stylist. I'm not trying to be rude or disrespectful and this is my honest and truthful feelings about my own experience. I just don't think it was a good fit and I have taken my business to a different salon and things have been better for me. To add to this, I have no idea what I paid for. I was thinking a highlight and cut?! I paid for maybe a toner? None of this was explained to me. I wonder if i liked my hair I would of never questioned it. I also must say, I was waiting in the waiting area before appointment which was 35 min late. I got my hair dramatically cut by Elisa about a week and a half ago and I absolutely LOVE IT. I have been wanting to go above the shoulders short for years but have been incredibly nervous of a bad haircut, so I've been holding off until I found a salon I felt comfortable with. Almost no one in my current city posts pictures of their work when they are done with client or pictures of their own looks so you can see what the stylists themselves look like and that just makes me super nervous. I saw pictures of Elisa and the salon before I went to my appointment and that helped give me peace of mind. I got to my appointment and was immediately in love with how beautiful the salon was - I wish my own house was decorated as nicely! Then I met Elisa and showed her pictures and she knew exactly the kind of cut and style I wanted and more importantly what I DID NOT want. I had long, straight, heavy, boring hair with a basic side part and bangs before and she gave me a beautiful short layered cut with a more dramatic part (think Julianne Hough's messy short hair) and room for my bangs to grow longer to create the style I really wanted. I wanted my hair to move and have volume and I wanted to be able to just shake it out when I was done styling and she taught me some tips for how to do that and gave me the exact cut I wanted and styled it for me at the end. Very, very pleased with my haircut and service. I called at 10:30 on a Saturday and they were able to get me in for a 12:30 with Devi. The salon is in a charming historic building and the decor is hip, modern-romantic. Devi listened carefully to what I wanted, asked what I usually do with my hair, how I care for it, and gave me some helpful pointers. I have crazy-curly hair which I typically iron straight daily, but lately has looked dull and unhealthy even with lots of products and ironing. I came into the salon with my frizzy, wildly curling Lion's mane, and left with shiny expertly layered sleekness. Devi was able to achieve this without slathering my head with heavy products or hairsprays. I noticed people admiring my hair all day after this visit. I will be going back! I got my hair done by Megan at Luxe, and I adore her on every level. I was greeted with a smile and an offer for fresh coffee from the receptionist. Then I sat down in Megan's chair with no idea of what I wanted - I just "wanted a change". I figured she would be annoyed at my lack of direction, but instead she was excited to talked me through multiple hair ideas. Then she went the extra mile, and after 1.5 hour cut and color, she took the time to show me step by step on HOW to style the hair for MY face shape. The reason why this means so much to me is because she actually took the time to give me her opinion. I have gone to other stylists and asked for haircuts - they would simply nod and start cutting. Sometimes I walked out looking worse than I came in. Not because of their cutting/coloring skills - but because they would not take the time to TALK to me about what would flatter my face/coloring. Getting a personal assessment from someone, who is literally in the career of beauty, is so valuable. I'm amazed that so few stylists take the time to work with their clients. Love Marla, every time she cuts my hair I get compliments! She listens and understands what I want each time I have gone in. Now I'm addicted to the hair color she did for me. The color is exactly what I wanted, lots of dimension, and my hair still feels healthy. I love being a blonde! Also she is one of the only stylists that I've asked not to use the texturizing scissor things and actually does not use them!! Even at the very end when I'm sure she is pressed for time. She takes the time to use scissors and create texture that way. I can't believe how many times I ask people not to do it and they try to sneak it in at the end. I love Marla for this. read more

The only reason this place gets even one star is because the stylists are awesome! I see Marla or Elisa, and both are EXCELLENT. This review has nothing to do with my hair, but with the customer service and overall performance as a business. Their "Prepay" Policy: Last year, I had one no-show appointment due to a calendar mistake, and as a result have been punished ever since. When I tried scheduling my last appointment, all of a sudden they decided to tell me that I had to prepay for my service due to that one no-show (a year ago). I could understand if I no-showed frequently, but once? This policy is absurd and just bad business. Luxe is a customer service industry, and when you're paying anywhere from $100-200 to get your hair done, you expect some flexibility. The policy doesn't indicate what happens if you have to reschedule, or if the stylist reschedules, so as far as I know, they just keep your money. Scheduling: Half of the time when I call Luxe, nobody answers. When you work full-time, it's frustrating to not be able to get through to a business that has a receptionist when you have a few minutes free to make an appointment. I have an easier time booking a doctor appointment than I do with Luxe. You have to book 6 weeks out in advance if you need an evening or weekend appointment. Also, their receptionist and stylists have booked my appointments before, and have mixed up the date, causing a huge inconvenience (waiting six weeks to hear "oops! sorry!" is not okay). I have a friend who goes there too, and she said this has happened to her on more than one occasion. Apparently, there is no repercussion for them to make a mistake on their calendar, but when the paying customer makes it, you now have to prepay your services. Parking: It's difficult to find street parking downtown, and most appointments take longer than 2 hours. Usually the stylists will run out and fill your meter, but it's still frustrating. Bad Manners: I emailed Luxe a cordial email covering what I covered above, in the hopes that someone would contact me and at least apologize. Nobody replied. I will never go back here, which is unfortunate because I love Marla and Elisa. I've told several friends about my experience here, and they've since boycotted Luxe as well. I now go to Premiere Salon & Spa by the Farmer's Market, and they are WONDERFUL. You can grab a Batdorf & Bronson coffee, get your hair done, then cross the street and buy some fresh veggies...and it's all Aveda products! Win win win win! read more

Wedding hair blues. I've been a client of one of the salon owners for years and have sent other clients to her, as well. When I last saw her, I told her I was getting married the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Her response was that my hair would have to be done the day before the wedding as the store is closed on Sunday and its a holiday weekend. I've never been married and accepted that this was ok until I spoke with my sister and some friends. They were all really surprised that she didn't even check to see if one of the other stylists would do my hair on the day of the wedding --and I was prepared to pay well for the service. I wanted to give the salon another chance so called back twice, leaving a voice message once and a message with the receptionist the second time and both times asking for a call me back --maybe they didn't realize I was having a professional photographer, maybe they didn't realize that I only needed my hair styled. But there was no response. Today I spoke with a friend who also goes to Luxe. She said the owner was aware I'd called and indicated that she'd called me back. This severe lack of customer service and lying about it blows me away. I called another salon that I've never been to and they had no problem accommodating my needs. read more

I went here in November (I know Im a Yelp slacker) to use a Groupon I had purchased, $50 for $100 of services. To give you the setup- I am a natural brunette with super thick curly hair that I straighten virtually every day of my life, I would say it is also decently long. A couple months earlier I had been into the Madmen thing and wanted to get my hair as red as possible that would still look good with my brunette hair and slightly olive skintone. The stylist at the previous salon I went to in Tacoma did an all over demi color that made it look dark burgundy in the normal WA no sunlight, but when the light hits its this awesome red color. Love love. So I had noticed my roots had grown a few inches which isnt all that noticable except at the part and I'm slightly anal about these things. Hence I decided lets get the roots re-touched and a trim/re-shape with my groupon. Went to Luxe, happened to be a special event day and they were also selling all this cute funky jewlery and serving mimosas, great start! The slaon is small, but cute, I love the chandeliers. I had a stylist named Shawna, who is new to the Olympia area. She is super friendly and gives the best shampoo I can remember having. Seriously. I would go just for the shampoo lol. I told her that I wanted to retouch the red color and wanted a trim to keep the length but even out my hair from some gross choppy layers that had been previously done. One of the owners consulted with her a bit on the best technique to phase out my choppy layers, which I appreciated. Shawna also said she loved the color in my hair and recommended highlighting a few pieces around my face so that the red would pop even more in some face framing sections. I loved the idea. The style and color came out great and I had a good time talking with my stylist. She described Luxe as a little more of a high end salon but without all the hoity-toityness. I would say this is pretty accurate. I enjoyed the experience and recommend Shawna and the Salon in general. If you go, try to go on a trunk sale day or other special event, it was a fun twist and I walked out with a cute pair of earrings and who doesn't love a mimosa! * Update- So within a couple weeks I noticed the few highlighted areas with red had faded to more of an orange color which I obviously didn't like. I called the salon and was able to make an appt with Shawna in a couple days. I went in and she re-did all the highlighted pieces free of charge. My hair is a thick beast that sucks up all color and moisture, plus red is the hardest color to keep. It wasn't her fault, I appreciate the customer service and have been happy with the new color ever since. I plan to return. read more

I've been going to Luxe for Style for about a year. The service has been nice. My haircuts have always been just a trim and they turned out good. Once I decided to take quite a bit of length off my hair the tables turned. My hair is so uneven and the layers look chunky, choppy, and lopsided. Not at all what I wanted. I have to spend an incredible amount of time on my hair now just to make it look good enough to leave the house. So disappointed. I'm beginning to think my trims turned out so well because she already had a good haircut to work off of. If you want a cheep trim. I would say go. If you want a real haircut don't go anywhere near this place. I should have known none of these girls were that experienced when I noticed they were all in their early 20's. read more

The management is rude, the stylists seem jaded, and their products drug store quality (and ridiculously overpriced). The only saving grace at Luxe was Devi Pack. She has become the only stylist I have let touch my hair since my first cut. Every time I leave an appointment with her I wonder to myself why she is not a stylist in Hollywood. I went here for the first time on 1/13/18 and I'll definitely be back! I have short hair that I'd let grow out for too long, and Morgan gave me an excellent haircut! My new profession requires a much more conservative appearance than my old one did, but Morgan encouraged me to express my personal style while remaining professionally appropriate and struck a really great balance between the two! She also gave me exactly what I asked for--a low-maintenance cut that doesn't require using product to look good. This salon is in a great location and they even have designated downtown parking spots. Cute decor, coffee, tea or water while you wait, a fun selection of hair products, jewelry and accessories. They are great at reminding you of your appointments. They have lots of business hours to accommodate working people. Elisa gives great haircuts. This was my first visit to Luxe as I was looking for a new salon. My coworker referred me here. I got my hair cut and colored yesterday by Andrea and she did such an amazing job on both! She had great ideas and I felt totally at ease with her - I hadn't colored my hair in about ten years, and it can be nerve racking to jump into coloring again. She listened to what I wanted, took a look at my pictures, and I couldn't be happier with the result! I wanted something low maintenance that I wouldn't have to retouch very often, and Andrea absolutely delivered. And the price was so reasonable! I've been quoted over twice the amount she charged to color my hair at locations in Tacoma. She also took the time to give me tips on styling, and wasn't pushy with the product pitch (though I did end up buying some shampoo and conditioner as a splurge since the cost for my service was so reasonable and the product smells amazing!).
