I went to get a hair cut which was long over due, my first time there. It's a really cute, clean, pretty salon. They have a darling little dog who helps their hair stylist being a small friend. My stylist was Ash, and she gave me the best cut, that I honestly liked, for the first time in years. Ash Tanner was my stylist, and she did an amazing job. I am very picky about my hair and had let it grow out rather than deal with finding someone who would cut it the way I wanted it. Honestly, it's the best cut I've ever had. I went to see Ash Tanner and she not only gave me what I wanted, but she tailored it to my face shape, glasses, and hair type. Her attention to detail was impeccable, and she explained everything she was doing and WHY she was doing it every step of the way. Her product recommendations were good, and I didn't feel like she was pushing me to buy something I didn't need. Her pricing was fair, and for the level of skill, professionalism, and artistry she has, I expected her to charge more. I have never felt more comfortable in someone's chair, and i dont think i will go to someone else as long as I am in Olympia. I am already rebooked, and you are doing yourself a disservice if you go to someone else. read more

I had Rhea cut my hair after seeing reviews on Yelp. She did an amazing razor cut for my short hair and was super nice. The salon is really nice as well, albeit very difficult to find if you are going for the first time at night. They don't have good signage. I would love to go back but after all was said and done my haircut cost 65.00. 50. for the cut and 15 for the tip. I am not a Kardashian so unfortunately I will have to find something in town with a better price point for my budget :( I wish they offered coupons or specials but apparently they cater to a higher clientele. I just got a cut from Aly last week, and I am so happy with the results. I have naturally curly hair with a tricky, straight underlayer. I always have issues with my straight hair sticking out in the back, and Aly did an amazing job disguising it while also giving me the short layers I need to avoid having a triangle-shaped head. It looked great when I left (smoothed out with some curls added back) and it passed the final test this morning with my natural curls falling perfectly! It's a little more expensive than where I went before, but it's hands-down worth it, especially since they support environmentally friendly products. read more

This salon has, on more then one occasion, canceled my appointment (made 2 to 3 months in advance) the day of and has been unable to reschedule in a reasonable amount of time. Like many busy and popular salons, appointments must be made 2 to 3 months in advanced. Because of this I am always sure to book my next appointment when paying for my current one. It has been twice now that my appointment has been canceled, by the salon, the day of. Now I am understanding, people get sick, things come up, so I am completely willing to reschedule. The problem lies with the salon's inability to reschedule appointments within a reasonable time. For example, on May 9th I made an appointment for July 9th. On July 9th my appointment was canceled by the salon and I was informed that their next available appointment was August 29th. Considering it was the salon that canceled, I was flabbergasted that their only available appointment was more then a month after my original. Although I've been a dedicated client for over 5 years, my past couple experiences have been extremely disappointing. Unfortunately these experiences have lead me to take my business elsewhere. read more

I no longer go to Moda Capelli. Why? I don't enjoy sitting for hours and spending a lot of money for services provided by the Stepford Wives. If you wonder, check out the team's pics. The quality of service is ok. The prices are keep going up, and even a simple service takes too long. The stylists walk around, little attention is given to the clients, and one of the owners constantly looks annoyed with all human beings. After reading the reviews and checking out their website, I was super excited to book my appointment for a cut, color, and eyebrow waxing. I got to my appointment. The place was gorgeous and the staff friendly. The girl that did my hair was fabulous and I started feeling confident that I found my permanent Hair Salon (recently moved to the area). However things went from amazing to a nightmare fast. I spoked with the girl doing my hair and went over what I wanted to do with my hair. I showed her a picture with a girl with copper red hair and the length was just below her chest. I told her that's what I wanted. So she began mixing my dye which took an extremely long time because the day I got my hair was April 1st and I guess it's appropriate to pull pranks and create a loud ruckus while with clients... So I was in the chair for a good while just waiting for hair dye... After the laughing settled down, the girl came out with the dye and began the job. We chatted and when it came time for the reveal I was so excited, but was shocked to see my hair wasn't much different from the auburn i came in with. It was different but far from copper red. It wasn't even a light red. I shook it off and was hoping it would lighten more once it dried. So we then began to work on length. I showed her where I wanted it cut, but I was at a loss when she butchered my hair just past my shoulders. No warning. Just gone. I came in with hair down to my waist and left with hair barely below my shoulders after showing her specifically that i wanted it below my chest. Well the damage was done. I stayed cool in the chair so I didn't get her worked up and cause her to do a worse job. She dried it and sadly my hair did not lighten up. I was devastated. I paid. I left. My fiancé was shocked at the length. I played it off. Then I got home and attempted to put it up and couldn't because it was too short. I burst into tears and i was so upset for days that i couldn't even mention it. I felt very uncomfortable with the hair length. I finally got the nerve to contact them to complain. We played phone tag. I wrote an email and haven't heard from them. I'm not interested in any services from them but an apology or acknowledgement would go a long way. So disappointed. After traveling to Seattle for haircuts for the past four years, I finally had a great haircut at Moda Capelli. The stylists are very talented and the atmosphere is welcoming, but why is it so hard to make an appointment? I have been going to this salon for only about eight months but I have never had the telephone answered when I call. After leaving a telephone message, we play phone tag, sometimes for days. I finally had to give up on the phone calling and stop in to book my last appointment. Now I'm trying to schedule my next appointment. I was advised to call two or three weeks in advance, so I called in mid-August to schedule an appointment for early September only to find that the next available appointment is in mid-October! Part of the problem seems to be that the hours very limited, which I guess is my problem, because obviously all the stylists are steadily booked. I will be so disappointment to have to find another salon but if I can't schedule appointments when I need them I will have no choice. read more

I recently saw Aly and she cut about 8 inches off my hair. I was a little nervous since I've had long hair for years, but Aly is amazing and I knew it would look great. Now I have a trendy little "lob" and I absolutely LOVE it! I found the prices to be very reasonable; I mean, you pay for what you get. I've gotten cheap haircuts before and they definitely looked it. In hindsight, It occured to me I was most likely doing what some people might consider, a very unwise undertaking. There I was, sitting in the stylist's chair (15 minutes later than my scheduled appointment time) at Moda Capelli hair salon for my very first visit, working with a stylist I did not know, relying on her opinion to choose a hair style which would best suit me for a dance presentation, which was to take place in less than two hour's time. Did I mention I only had one hour? A tall order in deed but thanks to the Yelp reviews for Moda Capelli, I picked the right place. The receptionist made me feel welcome and offered refreshments. She acknowedged the fact the sylist was running a bit late and offered an apology. Emily (the stylist) made it a point to talk with me and say she would be with me shortly (and was). Emily hustled the paperwork from the privious client without being rude (the receptionist had put in her full day's work and was no longer present), then Emily gave me her full attention. She knew the exact hair style with the best movement for dance and was adept in its execution. She understood my hair type, explained what product(s) would work best and proceeded to use them in this visit without an added charge. I'm pleased with the reviews others gave about this Salon. I don't think I would have placed so much trust in a first-time visit for a very special occasion, otherwise. read more

I just had my hair cut by Aly schuller (who was referred to me by a friend) and I LOVE IT! Not only do I love it, but the cut and style have been receiving rave reviews at my office! Getting my hair cut has been a very stressful experience for years because of bad cuts, bad color jobs, etc.. I've lived in Olympia for 5 years now and have had the most difficult time finding a salon with the right combination of skill, friendliness, and price. I've been to 6 other places in my search before I found Rhea at Moda Capelli. The staff is welcoming when you come in and the atmosphere is pleasant. Rhea is the only stylist I've been to who has successfully helped me transition my super short pixie past the dreaded awkward phase into something more manageable. That's quite a feat. :-) Although the price is a little bit higher than I'd like (I believe $55 is the general starting point for a haircut), I realize this seems to be fairly normal for a good quality salon in Olympia, and perhaps I was indeed spoiled over in Spokane when I could get the same cut for $35. Either way - Rhea has been instrumental in helping me get the change I've been seeking for so long, and I will continue to see her at Moda Capelli. read more

I see Emily Enz here, who is truly an artist. After many failed attempts to craft a difficult asymmetrical bob cut at other salons, Emily completely nailed it the first time I came in. Since, she has pulled off other challenging style requests with ease. I get tons of compliments on my color, and the way she cuts it holds the style far into the 4-6 week margin where other cuts sometimes start to fall apart. Just wanted to tell people beware of the salon Moda Capelli in Olympia, WA. I made an appointment to get a color/cut and when I scheduled the appt they took my card and told me they needed a card on file. Obviously I've done this before with other salons since most find it easier when checking out. The morning of my appointment I called and had to cancel because our 5 month old baby was really sick vomiting/dehydrated and needed to go to the hospital. I felt like I did the right thing and called to tell them I could not make it in to my appointment and explained why and also told them I wasn't sure if it was a contagious thing or not so I was also canceling for the sake of not spreading germs to everyone at the salon. I never hear back until an hour before the appt and they said if I didn't come in they were charging me half my appointments service. They also said the stylist was at home and they needed to have her come in if I was still coming. Also that they have a cancellation policy that Under no circumstance can you cancel under 24 hours or they charge you half of your appointments. I was never told this over the phone when I booked and I would have never booked with a salon with that strict of a policy because I have a baby and know emergencies could happen. Even if you ended up in the hospital you'd still have to pay for the service which is crazy because people can't plan out health and life. I've worked at plenty of salons as a stylist and I've never heard of this happening unless a no show or someone constantly canceling on appointments. It's taken days to get a hold of anyone because their phone just goes to voicemail constantly trying to resolve and figure this out. When we just talked to the manager she said the stylist booked a babysitter and so she lost money not being able to cancel her childcare which should not be the clients problem. They were extremely rude and unprofessional handling all of this and so I didn't want anyone else having to deal with this kind of business. I understand people cancel for no reason and are not honest but when you have a true emergency that's totally different. read more
