Had to change my review took my bmw in for a gasket change. Had the car there like 3 days and charged almost $900. Picked it up and still seen smoke and a check engine light came on took it back told them about the smoke and engine light. Engine light was a sensor got that fixed the smoke was told it's probably old oil and it will burn away fast forward two three weeks and I moved down to Florida and still seeing smoke. Just took car to a mechanic to look at it and guess what it's still leaking from the gasket. He power washed to make sure. Now I'm stuck with a leaking car and really no cash to fix it and no way I can take it back to NY or I would. This is why I changed my review. They should of caught that the second time around. WOW! First of all, this is the only place I've come across where you can make an appointment for an inspection. Second of all, as I approached the place I realized that when I was a beginning driver, eons ago, my mom took me to a fabulous mechanic in that area; turns out that this owner apprenticed with the original owner and, obviously has kept up the wonderful practice of decency, honesty, timeliness and excellent work. He even showed me original photos of the place when it was "born" and what fun to see the black and white photos of the old "vintage" cars. Highly recommend and have given neighbors his cards. read more

Master Mechanix, and the people who work there are fantastic. They responded within a day to my quote inquiry via Yelp. They offered a ride home because my car was going to be in the shop all day (though I didn't end up needing the ride). They looked over the car, and fixed multiple problems within the day. When I arrived to drop off the car and explain the issues with it, they were smart, asked smart questions, and made me feel involved and confident in the process. My 2013 Impala monitors would not reset after we replaced a dead battery. The problem persisted for months despite all the miles we drove it. Tim offered to take a look at it and persisted until we were successful. I found him to be competent, ethical, and a really nice person. His staff was wonderful too. Found this shop via yelp and decided to give them a try based on their stellar reviews. I can say I've found my go to mechanic thankfully! They do honest and fair priced work and went above and beyond with my diagnostic requests. The only criticism I have is the they never call me back with any updates! I had to call to find out my car was ready or that parts have been ordered every time Ive been there (3 times). Aside from that I couldn't be happier with Tim and his crew! (Side note a dealer had quoted me ~$1000 to fix an a/c issue and Tim was able to fix it for a fraction of the price and was very patient and honest with everything!) read more

I'm not your average person and I'm willing to work on my car myself, but when my clutch went in my 02 Toyota Camry I went to about 10 different places asked around and even contemplated doing the clutch myself until, I watched how hard it is and time consuming it would be on YouTube. I found this guy on Yelp and he lived up to the hype. Was the most honest and reasonable person with the price and he was only about 2min from where I live. Tim is honest, but not reasonable when it comes to estimates. If you got the dough he is your man.

This is the best choice you can make to bring your car. I had an issue (or so I thought) and had allocated about $300-400 to spend on it. When I arrived we drove around to see if he could pinpoint the issue and told me that it was just an issue of it being an old car. Sears auto body had told us that we needed something replaced, which is why I had money set aside. I was told nothing was wrong, and left happy, with a full wallet, and trust in the fact that my car was working. He put me at ease and treated me with respect and didn't just try to empty my wallet for useless repairs. As a young college student who knows nothing about cars this could not be more appreciated. I would recommend this place to anybody and everybody. read more

The shop owner ok, but very rude if you catch him on a bad day. It seems they hire mechanics right out of a training programs. Had several bad experiences with these guys, I didn't mind paying their high price at first, but I quickly found out that in wasn't worth it. read more

As others have mentioned: the owner is knowledgeable, kind and will tell you up front he will only do what is necessary - and not try and do as much as possible to get as much money as possible. We brought in a 2009 Subaru Forester for its 30,000 mile check-up (a major one) - cost at the Subaru Dealer would have been $650.oo...at Master Mechanix it came to $250 which included an oil change (synthetic oil; roughly $70)...the repair shop refused to change brake fluid because after looking at our brake pads (and driving the car) - there was no need for the pads (and fluid) to be changed (we do lots of highway driving); also our spark plugs were still fine...so no change needed there (so immediately we saved $100 off the price we were quoted over the phone). All in all this was such a wonderful experience - anyone who runs a business - in any field - should be as knowledgeable, kind, honest and hardworking as this shop. Two anecdotes: when I look up and see a nun from the nearby Catholic School bringing in the van for work - and being greeted by her first name (Sister Mary) - I am impressed...and while there at least five people came in to have their cars worked on - and they were all greeted by first name...with everyone smiling. People in the neighborhood trust this guy...I would especially recommend this shop to women - very respectful men here who will take their time explaining to you why you might need (or might not need) a certain repair...they will not try and give you an aggressive "sell" - but will give you advice on how to avoid and decline such hard sells by other shops...I cannot recommend this place highly enough. I cannot rave enough about Master Mechanix. Excellent customer service is just the beginning. Speaking to Tim is probably the best experience I've ever had when it comes to dealing with issues with your car and the person you happen to choose to help you with those issues. Tim explains everything in terms you can actually understand, whether you are a complete novice (wouldn't know the hood from the trunk) to an expert mechanic who doesn't have the time to do their own auto maintenance. I fall somewhere in the middle of the spectrum, leaning toward the novice but I do know how to research the right person for the job and after getting quotes from two other shops I chose Tim to look after my car as he took time to make me understand what I needed without trying to sell me on anything else. Trust is a big factor in choosing someone to work on your car and Tim has mine! His secret is that I think he actually knows what he is doing, being an auto engineer also helps I suppose ;) My Audi A3 with 100k miles on it runs beautifully, thanks Tim. read more
