Very accommodating and honest. Even though they were very busy, they took the time to inspect my brakes while I waited.

I went in two days ago for a basic oil change and rock chip repair. The tech, who was also the…read moremanager, insisted that I needed to have $1,000 worth of work performed on my car...which is a lot for a Subaru Outback that's only three years old. I said yes to some of the repairs, but when I tried to say no to others (a new battery, for example), the tech pressured me into it, saying that my car was most likely going to break down and leave me stranded if I didn't replace the battery ASAP. Feeling uncomfortable and stuck, I paid for it all. Now, two days later, my air bag light is on. I called the shop to ask about it, finding the timeline to be a little funny (since they'd just worked on my car two days prior and made no mention of an airbag issue). I spoke to the same tech/manager, who claimed it couldn't have possibly been related to the services they performed. Fine. It is what it is. But, since I had him on the phone, I told him how I felt frustrated, overcharged and taken advantage of two days prior. He condescendingly told me that I "was a big girl" and "should learn how to say no." Even though I'd told him "no" just the other day! He then had the audacity to backtrack and tell me how he respects women and treats every customer equally. But, if the tech/manager truly respected women, he would've listened to my concerns and not told me to be a "big girl" and learn how to say "no." True respect would've been to accept my initial "no" and move on. He apologized, but it was more of a "sorry you feel that way" apology, not a genuine "how can we make this right" or "how can we do better next time" apology. The airbag isn't even why I'm upset--I'm appalled by the tech's sexist remarks and the fact that I was pressured to buy a battery I didn't want--after I'd said no. Update: I spoke to a gentleman at the Jiffy Lube's corporate office. He expressed genuine concern and stated that he will personally visit this Jiffy Lube location to offer training/guidance to this tech/manager. While I am still dissatisfied with how I was treated at this particular location, I do feel that Jiffy Lube corporate did their best to make this situation right.

This was the first repair that was needed outside of my warranty and outside of VW. These guys were honest and straightforward about what was wrong and the cost and the recommendations they provided. They were responsive and communicated to me about the timeline in which it would be completed, when the part was delayed a day, they made sure I knew and I never had to call them for an update. Stress of a broken down car was as minimal as it could be and I will definitely return as the need arises. Thanks so much!!!

That said, having just made the first of many credit card payments for work I never would have had done given the full scope of what my vehicle needed, I feel compelled to prevent this from happening to anyone else. While the actual work done here seems fairly competent, the diagnostic process seems about as accurate as playing darts blindfolded. I brought my car in because it was creaking misfiring, and the check engine light was on. I told them that I believed my engine mounts were worn out and that I also needed a diagnoses for the misfiring. They told me that the cause for the misfiring was likely that my spark plugs and ignition coils were worn out, because that usually happens around 100k miles and my vehicle was past that. I agreed to have them replaced along with new engine mounts, to the tune of $2,600. I was told that after this my vehicle would be like a totally different car. The very next day, my car misfired again and the check engine light came back on. When I brought it back, they informed me that they don't have any way of knowing this fo sure, but I probably actually had a blown head gasket. I brought my car to a different mechanic shop who did a full and complete diagnostic from bumper to bumper and took photos of everything wrong with the car- from a blown head gasket to a leaking transmission to almost completely worn wheel bushings and a host of other problems totaling over $8,200 in addition to the $2,600 I had already paid at Red Rock Auto. Had I known this in the first place, I never would have paid $2,600 on a doomed old van that needed almost $11,000 in work done. I had to buy a new van and that $2,600 would have really helped with the down payment. I'm tempted to say that I feel duped, but I don't think there was any malice or fraud going on- just general laziness or incompetence in the diagnostic process that very negatively affected me.

It would not shift into higher gears, the RPMs were extremely high, and the car began shuddering as if it was about to break down. I parked the vehicle to avoid further damage. A few days later, when my husband started the car, it began blowing white smoke, and the same shifting and shuddering issues occurred again -- symptoms that clearly indicate a major mechanical problem that did not exist prior to this visit. When we called Take 5, the manager said he would review the video footage and call us back. He later claimed that they had only added a quart of oil and did nothing else. When I called back, the employee who originally helped me repeated the same statement and denied remembering the incident -- despite the fact that their staff were the ones who originally told me about the windshield washer fluid mistake. When my husband went in person to review the footage, Take 5 admitted they had watched the wrong video and then finally acknowledged that windshield wiper fluid was, in fact, put into the radiator. Despite this admission, they refused to take any responsibility whatsoever -- no repair assistance, no remediation, nothing. We were not asking for anything unreasonable -- only help getting the vehicle back into running condition after their acknowledged mistake. Instead, we were met with denial, misinformation, and ultimately a complete refusal to help. This experience has left us with a vehicle that is potentially severely damaged due to negligence, and a company that chose to avoid accountability rather than do the right thing. I would strongly caution anyone considering Take 5 to think twice before trusting them with their vehicle.
