We had a terrible experience here. We brought our car in for a specific issue, and they quoted us $2,000 for the repair. However, they tacked on an additional $6,000 in "necessary" extras, claiming these were crucial for the car's safety. Suspicious, we sought a second opinion. The new shop quoted us just $800 for the original problem. When we asked about the extras that Master had insisted on, they agreed some items should be checked but confirmed, after reviewing the car's history, that those repairs wouldn't be needed for another 80,000 miles. I would not recommend this auto shop to anyone. I found they were not honest. They charged me $800 to fix a catalytic converter code which it still had when I picked up the car. They told me the code would go away after the car had gone 50 to 75 miles. It never has. It turns out the only thing wrong with it was a little cracked tube that cost me all of $3.00 to repair after looking into it further myself. They did fix a few things for me which turned out OK but when I picked up the car they told me it needed brakes and rotors because the rotors were grooved. I can replace the brakes myself so I did that and when I pulled off the tire and pulled out the brake pads they still had more than half of their life on them and the rotor was perfectly smooth. They wanted to charge me $300.00 per tire to repair this. When I went in they never recognize me even though I was in there four or five times Within the space of two weeks. I left there feeling like they were only gouging me for money four things that didn't actually need to be repaired. read more

Passing through the area, I was concerned about my car's brakes. I arrived at this location and my car was taken in within ten minutes. Upon inspection the technician stated no new brakes were needed at this time. I still had 15,000 miles left. I thanked them and prepared to pay the bill for the inspection. To my surprise there was no cost! I thanked them again and left with gratitude for their professionalism and prompt service. They could have told me I needed new brake, but I walked away with no cost and more confidence as I continue my journey west. Cory at the clfd location was so helpful from the minute I called the shop asking for price quotes on my daughters jeep after her brakes failed while driving. He was extremely helpful, accommodating, and offered to diagnose the vehicle at no cost! Once I got her jeep towed to his shop in clfd, he was very quick to diagnose the braking issue and contact us with a quote. Because my daughter didn't have alot of money to put out on the repair, Cory was more than accommodating to keep the cost within her budget! I took my Chevy Tahoe in here because I desperately needed some new brakes. The entire process was about 4 hours from drop off to pick up. Jay was nice and super easy to work with. He made me feel at ease with leaving my car there. He called me as soon as they took a look at told my exactly what was wrong and the cost. Their prices are very reasonable especially for their great work. They got it done and gave me a call for pick up. My brakes are as smooth as ever. I can see why this shop gets a 5 star rating. They know what they're doing, they're honest and they try very hard to meet their customers' needs, even new one-time out-of-town customers like me. I drove in for the weekend from out of state and needed help with a bad shimmy in my car today before we make the drive back tomorrow. Jay advised me of several possible issues. Rather than assuming I'd need shocks and struts, he advised that I check the tires first, which they don't do there. On top of that, though they were booked solid for the holiday and short handed, he committed to trying his best to fit me in, if the tires were not the issue. So, I did check the tires and that was the problem. I did not end up doing business with Jay and Master Muffler. But I will tell my daughter and her friends who live here that this is a professional, reliable and honest shop. If you're like me, then you probably care a lot about the honesty of your mechanic and you read a lot of reviews before you take your car somewhere to be serviced. I thought after reading the reviews here on google that Master Muffler would be a trustworthy company and that they would be able to help me get off my oil pan drain plug that had been slightly rounded off. When I called and asked the mechanic if it was something that they could do, they said that they would try and it would cost somewhere between $40 and $50. I took the car over at about 2pm and they said that they were really busy, but they would try to fit me in before the end of the day and told me that they would call me when they looked at it and if it was something they felt like they could do. I left and got a call just before 4pm and they said that they had finished the job and it was ready to pickup. Less than 2 hours had passed from the time I dropped it off and when I picked it up, and they charged me a service fee of $90... If they were busy, they wouldn't have likely had a chance to get started on it right away, and likely would have only worked on it for an hour max. Most places charge around $50/hour for maintenance, and they charged me $90 for what I believe to be an hour. I would not recommend this place. They were dishonest and didn't call before they started the work, and they charged an extremely high price for the amount of time they worked on it. I also felt like they were pretty careless, because after the drain was taken off, I asked them to change the oil and filter with the oil and filter that I had, and they left the oil cap off and when I got home and checked my oil to see if it was filled up all the way, I found it resting on top of my coolant reservoir. read more
