They had the best online reputation and combined price with overnight shipping (only one chilly night). They're the best in my book! Service centers said they'd have to order it from the manufacturer, it'd probably cost hundreds of dollars (if they had one), another hundred to put it in, and it'd take 'a few days'. I did it for $128! This was on par with what happened at our lake house (I replaced that one too on my own). Part was promised before 10:30 AM and it arrived at 9:30 AM. Paul Mills is the owner and sole tech in this great little company. I hired him to replace a busted water valve on my Kenmore fridge. When I first called him, I didn't know what the problem was--or how to turn off the water supply to the fridge. He quickly suggested that I check under the sink and gave some other advice as well. (His advice was correct on all counts.) After diagnosing the issue myself, I called him back and gave him the business. The whole thing was easy and he did a fine job getting our refrigerator back up the very next day. For the appointment, he gave an actual time. Not a "window," an actual time. Imagine that! A professional with enough skill and knowledge of their trade to be able to accurately estimate the time needed to finish jobs. Anyway, he's not the cheapest around, but you get what you pay for. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS. I'm still in shock and complete disbelief at how rude and disrespectful Paul was towards my husband and me. We hired Paul to repair our refrigerator as he came highly recommended by our neighbors. Paul and his son arrived shortly after our appointment time and upon entering our home, Paul started with the backhanded, sarcastic comments. First, he pointed out the scuffs on the hardwood floors near our refrigerator. He bluntly asked how did they get there and then flat out said that it was apparent we didn't care about protecting the floors. Basically calling us weirdos because we clean behind the refrigerator "more than once a year." As a side note, the scratches are light and were there when we bought the house. This was followed by a barrage of questions as to why we selected a refrigerator that in his words wasn't "built to be serviced." Next came a series of rants and complaints as he roughly took apart the freezer compartments. Throughout it all we heard him mutter that he couldn't wait to retire. All of this in less than 10 minutes after welcoming him into our home. Next, he went to his truck to get a steamer which was needed to melt the block of ice that had caused the issue with our refrigerator. He returned to the kitchen and without acknowledging us or asking permission to do so, he immediately grabbed the kitchen faucet to fill the steamer with water. My husband kindly asked Paul to use either the utility sink or sink in the hallway bath- especially given that the steamer was quite dingy. Here's where things got interesting. In response to my husband's ask, Paul begins to loudly protest yelling that "this is the stupidest thing he's ever heard," called us "delusional," and said that we acted as if our home was "Downton Abbey" and as if we were a Lord and Lady of the manor. HE LITERALLY SAID THIS. At this point, I had had enough and was just about to show this clown the door but our freezer and its many components were lying all over the kitchen floor. We let him finish the job while watching him like a hawk because how can you trust someone who spews such hate and vitriol to be left alone to his own devices? Never, ever again! This man is as disrespectful, ignorant, and obtuse as they come. He smacks of misogyny and racism. He is a discredit to his profession and to the human race in general. Paul Mills is a technician who takes pride in his work. He has fixed appliances for us for years and he has always been competent and his prices have been reasonable. We had a garbage disposer that was leaking water and he figured out the problem in about one minute. He had the replacement unit we needed on his truck and fixed everything in a little less than an hour. He also gives good advice for free while he is fixing your appliance on which models of dishwashers, washing machines, etc. have low maintenance. cost. He also is available quickly so you don't have a long wait. We wouldn't think of calling anybody else for appliance repair. read more

Pros: 1. He seemed to know what he was doing. 2. He came when he said he would come. Cons: 1. Unresponsive and a Bit Rude. Dishwasher didn't work right after he left. I emailed him right away and tried calling about 3-5 times and emailed just as much. After waiting a month with no response from Paul, I had to get a different appliance repair man in. When I eventually spoke with Paul who called me about the bill (he returns phone calls if it's for money), he tried placing the blame on the customer. Somehow I should have known he doesn't check email and he must have called me back because he always returns phone calls. Note: I received an email from Paul with the original bill so I thought emailing would be a save mode of communication. 2. Expensive. His trip change is $99 whereas other Appliance Repair Men were cheaper (around $65). 3. Thoroughness Lacking. Because he left without checking to make sure the washer worked, it made me question if he understood GE dishwashers or if he typically doesn't check work before leaving. Maybe he was trying to be cost effective to us by not staying longer? In summary, I do not recommend Paul Mills based on this experience however many people have had a favorable experience. read more

Paul is competent and British. Although my neighbor, two blocks away, he wanted $100, just to look at the clothes dryer, and the $100 did not count against the repair cost. When he did not have the part on hand to do the repair, he demanded another $100 to fetch the part. The parts and minor labor costed more, all totaling about $300. Glad I could pay for your new, big house, Paul, but I'm not happy that my neighbor insisted on $200 in drop-by cost. Anyone in Vienna area wanting appliance repairs should go to Vienna Appliance. I was so pleased with Paul Mills. I needed to have someone repair BOTH my refrigerators - one a SubZero and one a Sear Kenmore. Everyone I called either worked on SZ or everything but SZ so hope was fading to get one repairman to fix both. Paul came and fix BOTH of them! In both cases the defrost drain was plugged. Was very pleasant and helpful about explaining things. I will never buy an appliance from Sears again. The customer service department was very rude and refused to service my Kenmore on warranty even though it was defective almost from the beginning. read more

I called in the early afternoon with a dishwasher that was collecting water in the bottom, even when the dishwasher was not in use. I could see where a little stream of water was constantly running into the dishwasher. Paul returned my call in 1 1/2 hours, and from my description, he knew the part that needed replacement. He told me how to turn off the water to the dishwasher, but due to strength limitations, I wasn't able to do it. He advised me to use the drain button. He was booked for the rest of the day, but said he would try to come. To my surprise, he arrived at 6 PM and fixed my dishwasher at a reasonable price. Most recently we used him to fix a motor in an aging refrigerator that we're weren't quite ready to replace. Our experience with Paul has always been fabulous. He is extremely professional, on-time, returns calls promptly, and charges very reasonable fees. He knows his appliances and knows how to fix them; we've used him for 20-year old dishwashers and refrigerators to brand new electronic LG washers and dryers. The appliances always work right after Paul has been to our house and we've never had to call him back a second time to fix something again. In the past, we've had some really bad experiences with repair people - either trying to rip us off or simply not knowing how to do their job. Paul is NOT one of these people.
