Having been here several times, I have found the service to be hit or miss: two thirds of the services I've received have been good, the rest, subpar. They were all overpriced. Feels like a cookie-cutter corporate-run business designed to rope me into paying more money by looking posh. Most staff members are nice; just be aware, they'll pitch you a membership (i.e. monthly subscription to their services) on your first visit (which doesn't save you any money compared to just paying per-visit). My second time there, I arrived 5 minutes late and someone behind the counter, after greeting me, informed me that my massage would be shorter than scheduled because I was late. I said okay and went back to look for the restroom. In the hallway a therapist intercepted me with an unfriendly, monotone "Are you [name]?" and when I confirmed, she ushered me into my massage without asking whether I needed anything (like to go to the bathroom) first. I didn't feel free to interrupt her since I had been late. That massage felt aggressive--like she was getting some pent-up frustration out on me. Not pleasant. When I had a facial, it felt like it helped my skin, but the person who gave it repeatedly told me I really needed to be using this, that, and the other product on my skin, and generally came across like they thought I was dumb for just washing my face with soap like people have done for hundreds of years and for not remembering the brand of moisturizer I'd been using. On the other hand, I've really enjoyed the massages and conversation from a couple of the other therapists here. Like I said, hit or miss. Massage Luxe?!?!? I'm partial to this place. Definitely lots of room for improvement. I received a gift card to this establishment a year ago. I love that the gift card has no expiration date. I called to make an appt and was pleased to get a next day appt. I spoke to Stephanie. She was friendly, took my info and told me to be on the look out for an email with forms to complete. I did get an email confirming my appt but the email with forms to complete didn't hit my inbox until the morning of the appointment. I noticed my last name was spelled wrong and when I tried to fix it no luck. So I just waited to handle when I arrived to the establishment. I arrived to the establishment and was greeted by Aniya (I think that's how you spell her name). She was friendly checked me in, corrected my name in the system and gave me a tablet with forms to fill out. Upon completion she escorted me to the waiting room, pointed out refreshments and said they would be with me soon. A few mins went by and a staff member who later introduced herself as Sue came to me and said "and you are?". I realized she probably did that because she couldn't pronounce my name but she could have started off with a good morning. That was a bit of turn off but whatever. We get to the room she introduces herself and admits she had a hard time pronouncing my name and didn't want to butcher it. She went over her process, asked if I had areas I wanted her to focus on and asked what pressure I liked. I prepared for my massage and the session began. There were a few times I had to ask for pressure to be eased up but overall pressure was okay. What I didn't like is she massaged my head and was about to rub my face (forehead area). I specifically put on the paperwork they had me fill out that I did not want my head or face touched. I will say Sue checked in with me periodically to make sure I was comfy but I just couldn't get over the smell of cigarettes that radiated from her. Nice lady and professional it just wasn't an ideal experience for me. I think my energy gave that off cause she commented I was hard to read. Now it's time to check out. The price for first time guest is $65 for an hour Swedish massage. I had a $50 gift card which means I had a balance of $15 to pay. They asked if I wanted to leave a tip and I said yes 15%. I normally tip 20% but took off 5% for her touching my head and face and smelling like cigarettes. Aniya rings me up and says my total is $35 I said how? She said you tipped $20. I said no I tipped 15%. $20 is not 15% of $65. She then rings it in again and this time says my total is $33 and shows me a sign with suggested gratuity. I'm like I don't care about your sign. Do the math!!! At this point I had already swiped my card and was annoyed so I left. After sitting in my car for a few minutes I went back in because I just couldn't let it go. I said I was charged $18 for tip and that is not 15% I want it to be corrected. I was told the manager wouldn't be in for another 15 mins and the person who was now helping me didn't know how to issue a refund. I left and went to Starbucks came back 25 mins later. The manager issued the refund of the full amount back to my card remotely as they were still not at the store. Now the girl was trying to ring it again to charge me the $15 balance and my 15% gratuity. She was on the phone with management who appeared to be unable to walk her through what to do over the phone. After standing there for about 10 mins she just said I have your info we will call you if we need any information. Yikes! I'm not saying don't go there. But I am saying double check that you're being charged the right amount for services and be clear on how you want your massage to go. I was disappointed but I was respectful and I felt like the moment I challenged Aniya she just shut down and I didn't like that. She couldn't care less about fixing her mistake. Not sure how you can be in the front handling transactions and not know basic math. The other employee did her best to try to rectify the situation but it was all annoying and unnecessary. For what it's worth I recommended the place to my cousin a few months ago before I even went and she reported having a great experience. I took advantage of their $35 60 minute massage deal they offered before opening. Nice spa, friendly staff, good location, easy booking experience, clean, modern atmosphere. A little pricey for a 60 minute massage at $100 for this area though. However they have a great deal for a monthly membership where you get a massage each month for only $65 with no commitment you can cancel anytime. If you are someone who likes to get a massage monthly this is perfect. Plus you get to use the hydro massage bed as many times as you would like throughout the month for free. The massage therapist I had, Jose was excellent!!! Highly recommend asking for him. The blankets on the bed are nice and warm, they wrap your feet in hot towels. Last year around Christmas I saw an ad for a discounted massage special at this salon. It was a good price, around $40 for an hour, and had no expiration date. I decided to treat myself and bought one. My friend bought several for both herself and as gifts. Since she went before I did and had a few experiences she recommended Sue to me for my massage. Unfortunately she's one of the "senior" massage therapists and hard to get in with. They ended up booking me with a new employee when I had my massage a few months later. Prior to my appointment I received an email with likes/dislikes, and massage goals. My therapist really did pay attention to those needs and likes, and I was very happy with her services. The room was tight, and very dark, even when getting dressed. At my appointment in May, masks were required by all throughout the entire process. I have no complaints on her service. After my service she provided water when I asked for it, but it was in a Styrofoam cup, although I saw bottled in the waiting area. Just thought that was a poor choice since I was leaving and it makes more sense to have a bottle than a cup in the car. When I think of Luxe salons I think of high quality, upscale personnel and great customer service. The front desk receptionist that were on the night of my visit were none of that. I felt their attire was better suited for a strip club than a salon, and they lacked the professionalism one would expect for a salon of this caliber. When I arrived one was hanging out with her boyfriend, and I had to wait till she finished up with him to assist me. When I left, over an hour later, boyfriend was still hanging out in the lobby, playing on his phone, as was she. She didn't acknowledge my departure. The other receptionist was better, still with questionable attire, and seems to be doing the work of two. They have a massage subscription plan they try to upsell you, which actually wasn't a bad deal if you stick to a massage schedule. She offered me the use some sort of hydro- massage for free since I was a first time customer, which I did. The hydro massage is like laying in a waterbed that shoots jets and sprays of water from inside but with enough force you feel it. It was my first experience with this. There's a screen where you can adjust movement, focus on certain areas, change the spray and force, etc. Normally there's a charge for this service and you can also buy a subscription service that allows you unlimited walk in availability. While it was different, it wasn't for me, and I questioned the cleanliness of the bed itself as I didn't see anyone cleaning it before or after my use. If they offer another discounted massage special, I'd buy it just for the price, not because I have any loyalty to this spa or therapist. I am a loyal customer and I admit the my memory is a bit off so I relay on the text reminders and emails right before my appointments. I simply tried to explain to management that I did not receive notification until after my appointment had started so I will be charged which is ok. But I do not appreciate the tone that was used and the dismissive attitude. I don't even know where to begin. I've never been so upset with a service in my life and I'm not one to complain. We scheduled 3 appointments for my sister and friend who came to visit from out of town. I received several confirmation calls and a confirmation text an hour before our scheduled service. When we got to the spa, they took my friend and I back to the room. I was then informed that my sister wasn't getting a massage because one of their therapists called off. I never received a call. They claimed my phone was disconnected but I have received phone calls, texts and voicemails all day. They checked her in and had her go to the lounge to fill out paper work. She then sat there waiting for her therapist before being called back out to the waiting room and told she would not be getting a massage. She is a new mom who was taking the day to herself for the first time and it was completely ruined. They offered to comp her another day but that doesn't make up for the wasted day away from her baby. I would not recommend this place to anyone! Not once did they apologize, rather tried to place the blame on us. I'm so upset with the whole experience. Don't plan your day around visiting this spa. I would probably rate them 4 stars, however, after the massage I've experienced nothing but soreness, and my husband couldn't even touch my back without me wincing. Two days later, I have multiple deep bruises. I've had plenty of massages before, even deep tissue (this was supposed to be a Swedish massage) and I've never been bruised like this, so I have to assume the therapist didn't properly apply techniques to bruise me so badly. I never write reviews, but I thought I should write one here. My massage therapist, Dana, seemed angry with me from the start. Maybe she was having a bad day, but she was very short with me and didn't seem to care about what I wanted from this massage. As a woman, I hate when people say we have to look happy at work; but Dana was just clearly grumpy and not trying to hide it. I asked her to avoid some blisters I have on my hands, and she rubbed tons of lotion in anyway. She only focused on one or two muscles on every body part, going over and over on them until they hurt. When I asked her for less pressure on my shoulder, she said "fine" very shortly and didn't finish massaging it despite spending a ton of time on the other shoulder. She just moved onto another body part. For some reason she massaged my face with body lotion and actually got some lotion in my eye. I was startled at the end of the massage when she loudly and curtly told me to put my clothes on and she would be waiting with water. When I looked at the time, only 45 minutes had gone by despite me paying for a full hour. I asked the front desk about this, and they said it was because of time spent doing paper work. They never have me any paperwork to fill out. This was a 45 minute massage despite me paying for a full hour. Now I am sore, upset, and feel like I wasted 45 minutes of my time. I purchased 3 gift certificates during a black Friday promotion in 2020. I gave these as Christmas gifts to three dear friends. They were able to schedule their spa services together. One friend had a massage and two had facials. Everything seemed to go fine until my one friend was checking out following her facial. She was informed that she owed an additional $50.00 above the amount of the gift certificate. When she questioned the charge the staff claimed she had an upgraded facial with more expensive products. To be completely clear, she did NOT request the more expensive service nor was she informed of any additional expense prior to her service. Not knowing what else to do she paid the $50.00. On the drive home she compared her facial with the one the other woman received and there were no differences. I was very upset when I learned about the charge as I gave her the gift certificate so she could have a relaxing break from life. I called LUXE to express my frustration and they claimed that my friend requested the more expensive facial when she scheduled the service. This is absolutely NOT true. This was her first experience with this spa and she scheduled the facial with the clear understanding she had a gift certificate for a specific service. The staff was unwilling to resolve the problem and refund the money. My friend who received the $50.00 charge also called LUXE hoping they would refund the charge. They did not. The only resolution that was offered was for a $50.00 credit to be applied to a massage but she would be required to pay any amount over that. She declined as she had no intention of giving them anymore of her money. Since LUXE is a newer business I would expect customer service to be a priority but clearly that is not the case. read more

Stay away!!!!! There are so many good spas that are much better and don't cheat you. I have been there 2 times. 1st time $65. This time I was expecting $75 as they told me massages are after you've been there once. I got there on time at 6 and went back on time. Greta spent 15 min asking a myriad of questions and by the time my massage started I looked at the clock in the room and it was 6:25 already!! The massage was mediocre. She was rushed and I kept telling her I'd like more pressure and I was so disappointed because the pressure never changed. When the massage was over, it was 7pm which means I had a 35 minute massage then got my little cup (what? you can't pony up for a bottle of water for your clients?) Then I went to pay and was charged $120!!!! What? For a mediocre 35 minute massage? I asked about it and the unprofessional young girls upfront insisted too bad, that's the cost of it unless you join our club and get one massage a month for $75. I asked for the manager who was not there. I called several times (the manager was supposed to call ME) and was constantly put off by the managers who obviously know nothing about customer service. A year ago my wife nearly died from covid. At this time we had a membership where we paid a monthly fee in exchange for services. Due to this unfortunate event she was unable to get services so I called to see if I could extend the time after recovery to use the services we paid for. I was told that the deal would only last 30 days and due to her long recovery this would not he possible. They were adamant about this rule but told me that If I paid an additional $25.00 month I could extend the time but receive no additional services the fee was merely to extend the time. One year later I'm still paying the "fee" and can just now begin again mainly due to bruising. I've tried to contact the manager to rectify this situation but cannot get a call back. My advice is buyer beware as this company is ruthless with their policies and could care less about the situation my wife and I went through through no control or fault of our own. WHY don't they want to talk to me? Profits over a revolution which may cost them precious dollars. STAY AWAY as they are truly uncaring and unemotional to what was a very serious situation. I would not recommend this place based on my previous experience. Yesterday evening my sister, friend, and myself had made appointments at MassageLuxe for three massages. When we arrived we were checked in, filled out forms, and were escorted to the lounge to further fill out what type of massage we were looking to get. They came and escorted my sister, then friend back to their designated rooms. After being able to here them talking in the hall for several minutes that the one massage therapist Andrea was not there(me assuming I would just be getting someone else) they came to get me & asked me to come out to the front to talk where three people told me that unfortunately Andrea called off work so they had no massage therapist for me. This is all AFTER I filled out the paperwork and they took the two other girls in. They were in from out of town and I had arranged for a babysitter being I am a new mom to do this evening out!!! Instead of apologizing they simply said well we tried to call and the number was disconnected which is a complete lie as they sent us THREE confirmation text an hour prior. I'm not upset I didn't get my massage but how it was handled was completely horrible. They couldn't own their mistake and just say sorry instead trying to push blame onto us with a lie, that's the part that is the worse. They did try and comp me a massage but after the interaction with them there is no way I wouldn't even want to go back and it certainly wouldn't be the same as I would not have my friend & sister to spend the day with being from out of town. When this place opened I joined after having my first massage. I wound up canceling because I did not think it was worth it. Canceling was drama. I drove in 45 minutes from home, because they said I had to cancel in person, and the manager was not there to "cancel" my membership. The girl at the counter was very apologetic and told me she would take care of it. Fast forward eight months later, my boss gave me a gift card for a massage. When I went to check out I was told there was a "glitch in the system." The girl at the counter asked someone to help her. He looked at the screen, I asked if there was a problem, he said there was a glitch. I asked if they could check me out on another computer. A third person came over and told me my account has been on hold for eight months. I told them I don't have an account, that it was canceled. I said that perhaps they should not call it a glitch they should just be upfront. The only reason I gave it more than one star was because I enjoyed my massage, but I will never be back, and I will certainly not get gift cards for my employees from here. The staff needs training on how to handle this type of situation and if my account was "on hold" for eight months why didn't anybody call me or say anything when I booked the appointment? I was afraid to give my credit card for a gratuity because I did not want them to charge it for my so-called account. Jocelyn Carino is the General Manager. She was infected with COVID 19 and withheld this information to Esthetics and Massage employees. She hired 3 new Front Desk employees knowing she was infected with Covid. I was made aware by a client . My client shared the review with me. Also a Massage Therepist was infected. Jocelyn advised the Assistant Manager Zoe Colon and Shift Manager Ericka Bankston that Jocelyn communicated she had Covid through a "Whats App" communication. This is false. She has put the staff and clients health and safety in danger to the Covid Pandemic. This is unprofessional and reckless behavior as a Manager. A Massage Therepist has returned however a client did answer Yes to the Covid screening form, which is sent to each client prior to service. He worked Saturday, 12/12/2020. He was told by Joycelyn he could return. He was advised by the Shift Manager Ericka Branston to go a get a Covid test before continuing to service clients. Jocelyn has created a unhealthy work environment that continues to grow with lack of Professional communication necessary to maintain professional focus to our clients. Circumstances changed with my employment and I have access to a massage therapist and work in York. I have tried ( following their protocol) to cancel the membership completely since February, they failed to do so. I was billed MONTHLY on my credit card. They said they were waving fees in the months of April and May,due to Covid 19, but, each month, I placed several calls & finally they removed the charge. And the email I received to cancel the membership, which I was to sign and return states it is no longer valid? Pushy, pushy, pushy. Any relaxing benefits of the massage disappeared as I tried to get away from the mafiosi-style shake down. It's a franchised chain operation, apparently. We have had so much trouble finding times to book couples massages for my husband and I because they never seem to have any openings or therapist available except for 8 or 9 at night. We finally found someone to watch our 2 special needs sons so we could go enjoy a couples massage today only to get a call saying one therapist was not available and they didn't have any other openings today. Very disappointing. We feel that if we are paying a monthly amount per month to get massages, we should get priority over those that come in occasionally. That should be a benefit of having the membership I would think. I also don't think it's right that the only time you can buy a membership is after you get a massage that day. They don't give you time to think about it before you say yes or no. We will be canceling our membership since it seems we can never get in due to lack of openings and therapist available. read more

Had a wonderful massage - except for the end, they tried pushing the memberships. The second time I came in was far from enjoyable and I am hesitant to go back. For what you pay for, I expect a little more. Pricing is the same as if I wore to book a massage at Visage A Visage or Luxe yet you don't get the spa satisfaction like you would at one of that salon and spas. There is no room to relax with a robe on before or after the massage. You are basically in and out. I had scheduled a 90 min massage to relax and unwind and for over 50 minutes I could hear a child running up and down the halls or in the lobby screaming and yelling. This is not how I want to experience a massage. Children should never be able to be in a massage atmosphere. It's a place to rejuvenate and relax. The staff never did anything to stop the child, and my massage was ruined because I kept hearing the child scream. It was less than relaxing and I did mention something to the staff for future reference. read more

This was my second time at MassageLuXe. The first experience was for their grand opening and my husband and I took advantage of their $35 hour long massage. I was not pleased with my massage as I had asked for a deep tissue massage and there was hardly any pressure applied and I did not feel relaxed afterwards. Then they try to push their membership deal. We kindly declined. Then I receive a gift card for Christmas to give them a try again. Since I already had the initial special deal massage when they opened, I was going to be charged $100 for an hour long massage. I noticed a "Relax, Revive, Renew specials" and inquired about them. The Relax included an hour long massage, an hour long basic facial, eye treatment, and scalp treatment for $150. Since this was the amount of my total gift card I decided on this option. No one even knew what this package consisted of when I got there and tried to charge me for add ons for the eye and scalp treatment. I had to explain several times what I purchased. I arrived early, as recommended and sat and waited while others that came in later were called back for their appointment. When my massage therapist came in at 6:10pm for my 6pm appointment she apologized that her previous appointment ran over and assured me I would still get my full massage time. My massage started at 6:20 and at 6:59 on the dot she had finished. Really? So now she was back on schedule for her next client and I did not get my full time. Also, I again ordered the deep tissue massage and it was barely the regular Swedish as far as pressure. I went on to my facial appointment immediately after and expressed I was upset I didn't get my full massage time, not that she had anything to do with that. I went to check out and when asked about my experience I again told the front desk. They said they would report to the manager. Then, they tried to charge my over $200 for my visit. When explaining the package and price I was quoted, which is an EVERYDAY package on their site, she had to look it up because once again she had no idea the cost or what it included.
