Worst massage spa I've ever tried !!! I bought vouchers on Groupon and have an appointment at 7pm but I called ahead and reschedule to 7:30pm. They said they were already full after 8pm but I can late 15mins which comforts me much. Everything was fine until I came to the spa. The lady at the front desk was extremely rude. She did not greet when I came and left. She did not smile for even one time. Her face looks like I bothered her much. Unfortunately, she was the one who did the massage for me. God blesses me! I had feelings that everything would go wrong and I was right. The whole session was awful. To be honest, I can't feel my body just get the relaxation, it does not look right compares to other massage places I have been gone to. Massage 1 Spa is one of my favorite massage places to go to. I love getting the Groupon deal for a couples massage. The bf and I come here several times a year. I also bring my mom here too. The masseuses here are pretty good. They know exactly what pressure to use. I also like that they change up their technique from time to time so it's not the same. They also change their decor to keep things updated. They do have a few private rooms, but their main area are rooms that are separated with curtains and walls. Both areas are very comfortable! There are times where you will hear other people talking, but most of the time it will be quiet and relaxing! read more

Well it's all true. They do ask for a certain amount of gratuity($10 each for 60 mins massage). But it was worth it! Me and my bf did a couples massage and we did not feel gyped for giving them a $20 tip. The way the asked for the tip was funny however. After we finished and got dressed, we opened the curtains and there they were waiting for us with two small cups of water. Gave them our tip and the lady looked at her coworker, made a face, and the guy masseuse said "tip $10 each". While slightly rude, but it's fine. Got a good chuckle out of it. But all in all, 4 stars. This place is more for the massage and getting out knots. At least what I thought. Didn't think it was relaxing at all. Heard gunfire through the audio system at one point. Not too much good to say here. My lady had the smell of Bengay- very strong. Her hands were nice and soft with no jagged nails. That's about the most positive I can say. Way too much talking and giggles from the staff with each other. My lady did not focus on any of my knots. I feel like I went to get a greasy rubbing. She wasn't very skillful with the rocks either. I felt she was falling asleep half of the time. She'd pause at times wasting the clock. Times in between the wipe offs were lengthy and drawn out. My lower back ,thighs and butt got zero attention. Saw this on Groupon and my back was killing me. I read the reviews and was a bit apprehensive about it. I called them and after talking to them I decided to give it a try. Park is pretty easy. They have a lot behind. Upon walking in is the waiting area. Kind of quaint. They make you pay first which is fine for me. Jack came to get me. Upon entering the massage space it's dark and peaceful. Jack was very, very strong. He knew all the spots on my shoulder and neck. He did this one thing where I could feel the popping happening and it felt amazing. There is a sign that says $10 tip but that isn't unreasonable as most of these places isn't rolling in the though. I would highly recommend it. read more

Ok, please hear me out. I'm neutral on the place for a number of reasons. Some pros some cons. Pros: they are open. They all wear masks. All looks sanitary. My masseuse (forgot her name:[ )was really strong and she had a nice welcoming smile on her face. She is the reason I enjoyed my massage, she really worked on my upper back as I wished she would. Cons: my appointment was from 8-9. By the time I got called in after waiting a little outside, was about 8:02. I was completely laid down and started getting massage 8:06. My massage ended slightly early. She ended my massage at 8:53. About 8 minuets shy. Another con is the noise/talking level of the workers. From a scale of 1 being whispering and 10 being screaming, they were all talking at a level 7 -8 volume. Please keep in mind there are no doors in the private rooms - just a curtain. On top of my masseuse cutting me off early, as the other workers were in the hallway kind of yelling at each other, my masseuse came out for a few minuets talking back at them then came back to continue massaging me. Before coming here yesterday, I did my review on the reviews here on yelp. In regards to the tipping. I really only wanted to tip $5 - but considering everyone commenting about how they get mad if we do not tip $15 and honestly, I wasn't in the mood for a scene so I tipped $15.. A lot of my complaints, I feel I'm stuck posting on yelp because the workers can't really speak English, so I feel like, why waste my breath just to be misunderstood. - the only reason why I can't be 100% mad is because the masseuse I had working on me, although cut it short, had really good hands. This was one the worst massages I've had. When I called on the phone the gentleman said foot and body for $29.99. Well when I got there the lady at the counter told me foot- 25; foot and body- 35. Well we eventually came to an agreement and I was escorted to my room. Two gentleman came in right after me and were in the room next to me. Anyway- the ladies were talking the entire hour like a cheap nail salon. And the massage itself was very rough and not relaxing at all. I heard the guy in the room next to me tell her at the end "too much talking". And he was right. So as I go to leave the place I hand her a 5 dollar tip. We had a groupon for a couples massage. The massage was average and just ok. I'd give that 3 stars. It was the the rest of what was happening during the hour and 20 minutes we were there. Upon arrival there was another disgruntled couple arguing with the front desk about price. Our appointment started at least 15 minutes late. When we went in, I didn't feel the area was as clean as it could've been. During the massage I could hear another customer talking to a masseuse. They were discussing tip. The customer was very polite but the masseuse was telling her there was a $10 tip REQUIRED. It was very awkward. The Groupon for an hr long couples massage for $50 is worth it in my opinion. Do bring extra cash to tip your masseuse ($10/person for 1 hr). Tip: Tell your masseuse if you want it lighter or harder (pressure wise). It was perfect for me but my boyfriend said it was a little too light for his preference. I loved the hot stones & how the masseuse worked my whole body from head to toe. The feet in the water was new for me and I actually enjoyed that a lot. The only cons I had were that the rooms are all separated by curtains. I could literally hear someone snoring & another person talking to the receptionist. Came here twice for the couples massage with a Groupon deal. The price is really great for what you get. Coming from the San Gabriel valley where Asian massage parlor a abound...I know that having hot stones and oil used costs more. This massage was in a semi secluded room (they put up tapestry dividers) with two beds and 2 baskets to hold your stuff. They ask men to strip to underwear and women as well. Women get a towel with a Velcro fasten. The massage is literally whole body. She started with my back for awhile with the hot stones and oil. Then she had me lie face up and gave me a head and face massage. She massaged my face with lavender oil which was relaxing. During the face massage, my feet were put in a warm water soak. Then she moved on to my feet,arms, and legs. Overall a great value. Downside is you can kind of hear the other people and sometimes the workers whisper to each other saying things like "Don't talk that much" read more

Groupon might have ruined Massage1Spa. I first visited Massage1Spa one year ago and received a superb Chinese oil massage. It was performed in a clean private room with soothing music in the background. My masseuse was a master of acupressure. I didn't speak a word with her and she already recognized places with muscle tension and eased the knots. I left energized, de-stressed, and was able to sleep well that night without pain to my shoulders and lower back. There was a clock in the room and the massage ended in exactly one hour. I recently found a Groupon deal and decided to return for a $25/hr hot stone massage. The promotional price would be competitive to other spas in the area. Setting up the appointment was surprisingly easy because there was an American receptionist who answered the call. Everything was expected until I was led to a curtained area. Body massages are now done in a partitioned section of the common room that was formerly used for foot massages. The massage "room" was bordered by curtains rather than walls and a door like my previous experience. Privacy is now a bit reduced and you can hear noises from other customers separated by a curtain. I think this was done to keep up with the high Groupon demand, as the main massage rooms (the one I had last time) are probably reserved for those requesting couples massage. The most recent massage I received was relatively weak, although calming and relaxing. I did not come for this type of "stress management" massage though, since I had developed tense and knotted muscles from sitting at work. The masseuse failed to relieve the tension. She performed a mechanical routine, rather than scan my back and focus on individual areas. I didn't like how she was constantly rubbing and touching instead of applying deep pressure. When my masseuse did attempt to press on tender areas on my back and shoulder, she was huffing and puffing (I interpret that as giving maximum effort). I may have to look elsewhere for knot treatment. The massage ended at around the 55 minute mark. Unlike many massage therapists in the area, the ones at Massage1Spa are all female and do not smoke. They are clean and professional while the facilities are spotless. However, I would not recommend Massage1Spa for people seeking pain relief or treatment for heavily knotted muscles. Based on my experience, I don't think the masseuse would be able to give a deep tissue massage. In my opinion, Massage1Spa is best suited for those looking for a relaxation massage, the type where you want to unfold and feel calm after a long week of office work. read more

Like the majority- I purchased a couples massage through Groupon. I WISH I had read reviews prior to going. The massage was okay but some areas hurt a lot even though I requested medium strength. Once they are done with massaging you, they leave the room. They give you like 2 min to get dressed before knocking on the door and offering a small cup of water. We gave them their tip and this is when it got awkward. They yelled at us and said NOOOO NOOO NO. And pointed at their hands saying "$10 minimum" it's 2018 nobody carries tons of cash nowadays so all we had was $19. They got butter and upset but WTF a tip is a tip. Shouldn't be demanded. Had a couples massage with my wife. Massage was okay. The lady masseuse I had walked on my back without asking, I was a bit surprised by feeling her feet, never had that happen to me before. The therapists kept on walking out of the room to get more oil and other supplies, they should just have all of that ready the first time they entered. They have a sign in their front desk that says "Suggested Tip" and instead it should be called "Mandatory Tip". The masseuse waited outside our room after the massage with water. We were already going to tip them some amount for the Okay massage but then the male masseuse said, "are you not satisfied?" While looking at our tip. He said "$10". Pressured us into giving more tip, would not let us leave without giving more. I would not go here again! A tip is a tip and it is rude to ask for one, let alone say how much tip you should be given. My friend and I got the couple's head to toe massage deal off livingsocial for 45$. Even though I read some mixed yelp reviews we figured we might as well go because the price was so cheap. Anyways, we got there and there was definitely a language barrier but I didn't mind. The employees were still able to get their point across by using gestures. There was a definite language barrier, so I confirmed with her THREE times that we both had the same date and time. I told her we were here for a pre-scheduled Groupon appointment, and she asked for my phone number. I gave it to her, and she scanned...scanned...scanned her appointment book. Nope! Not there. She told me it was my fault for not calling THAT day to schedule. Sorry, what?? She tells us to sit down and that if the couple that she double-booked in our spot doesn't arrive, we can have their spot. So we sit, and after 10 minutes she somehow decides that the couple is indeed coming, and that they can't help us. This was the only time for a long time that we were able to carve out in our busy schedules to spend an hour together focused on just us. The folks at this "spa", especially the receptionist, are cold and unapologetic. Everyone looks miserable to be there and it's not hard to understand why. Arrived about 15 minutes prior to our appointment and was taken inside at the time of our appointment. We had a little area curtained off with 2 massage beds and were given robes to change into. We received a full body massage and foot massage that felt great. My friend is in nursing school and with clinicals, is always on her feet so she loved the foot massage. On top of that, we received a hot stone massage which I had never tried before and it was awesome. For less than $25, we had a pretty nice experience and massage. If you're looking for a good massage or looking to de-stress and on a budget, I'd recommend this place. We were led down the hallways that were draped with black currents and I peeked to see that behind them was where the foot massages take place. We had a couples room with two beds. It was clean and spacious, with little cubbies, a sink, and not a microwave but something to keep the towels and stones warm. My boyfriend and I been coming here for 2 years now. Not consistently because it's a little far for us but when we really need massages. We always purchase the Groupon couples massage and call ahead of time to schedule an appt bc they get busy on the weekends. They are Chinese owned and the ladies that give massages are Chinese as well so I feel right at home communicating with them. It might be a little more difficult if you don't speak Chinese but they know the basics. If you are very particular about things, or if you get irritated at communication/language barriers, or need a beautiful ambiance, this isn't the place for you. They have rooms separated by curtains and it's nice and dark inside. If you get a couples massage you and your partner get your own private "room". My only complaint and it's not anything they can do about-- is that the sound of cars zooming by on the main street outside can get kinda loud when you're laying in a quiet room. You might get a room if you are doing a couples massage. The massage: My masseuse was nice, but a bit too light for me. I'm a dancer and wreck my body all the time so I need stronger massages. I tried to convey that but it didn't change. I felt too much time was spent on my shoulder and barely touch my low back and below. So my poor feet and legs didn't get much love at all, and yes I got a full body massage. I did like the oil + hot stones although it was startling at first. I gave a 2 cause the masseuse was nice and I liked some things but the overall experience was very disappointing. They kind of don't speak english that well and I don't speak Chinese at all. Keep in mind, you'll be instructed to go to your underwear and lay face down so they can begin the massage, dont worry they put a towel over you so nothing is exposed. Two beds in a "curtain" room. Back massage first then arms + legs. They'll ask you to turn over so they can massage your face and head (best part for me), your feet will be soaking in water. The last part is the foot massage.
