Do not sign up for membership with massage envy. I repeat do not sign up for a membership with massage envy. Back in August 2024 I went to massage envy to use a gift card that I received for Mother's Day. After my massage, I was asked if I wanted to join the membership even after declining three times. They were still persistent in getting me to fill out a membership with lack of my own judgment, I went on and agreed to becoming a member which was a big mistake. fast-forward to October. I called to cancel my membership because I had not been back to get a massage. I was told that the manager will get back to me so we can go over details on my membership however I never got a call back after multiple attempts to speak to the manager. I finally told them to cancel my membership where I was told because of my contract, I have to pay and cover 3 three months. Massage envy continuously tried to collect payment and was successfully able to do so in December. However, as of this morning, I am still receiving messages that massage envy is trying to collect debt from my account now I have to email someone else to try to get my membership canceled. It is a scam. Do not waste your money. read more

Worst Facial appt, I ever had. I added (2) enhancements to my Facial, once I got their she said she doesn't do the foot scrub, its has it on 2 of their brochures & on their website when you book the appt its an option & the front desk didn't know they didn't do it. I like to relax during massages & Facials & the Esthetician- Inass, wouldn't shut up with questions & ones that made my uncomfortable; what do you do for a living are you married do you live alone do you have any kids do you live in an apt or a house Who asks these kinds of questions, very unprofessional & I got jipped of my 50mn. I asked for the manager to contact me that was 2 wks ago, I filled out their survey & they asked do you want to be contacted I said YES, I called again 2 days ago & still no call or email. Very friendly location! Had multiple massages by Jessica who is very accommodating with where you want to be worked on. For me my neck and shoulders are a big problem. Although my initial experience wasn't a positive, my second one exceeded my expectations. So much that I became a member :) the girl at the front desk (sorry can't remember the name) was very helpful. She explained everything in detail. She let me use my certificate amount towards my monthly membership fees. The place is spotless. And my massage therapist Tiffany was great. I'm glad I gave them a second chance. I've gone to a private masseuse for years and the occasional spa experiences. I've always gotten a deep tissue. I had my first visit to Massage Envy earlier this month and it was great. Last night I had my second visit and NEVER have I had this result and no one should. Deep tissue or not, no one should leave bruised. I should have read thru some of the reviews before coming in here. My bad. What happened to me was almost funny it was so bad. I called in to make an appointment and make a specific point of telling them what I was looking for to try and pair with the right massage therapist. they recommended someone who would be "perfect" according to them.. (i was looking for someone who deals with chronic pain issues and releasing muscle tension).. so I booked it. Then, when I came in for the appointment they asked me AGAIN, all about my issues and I spent about 10 minutes explaining to the therapist what I was looking for. What came next... I don't even know how to explain it. First off, she decided that it would be a good idea to DUMP oil on my back every 2 minutes... I'm not exaggerating. Every 2 minutes I hear "click" and she proceeds to dump more and more oil onto my back. I was (1)freezing from being doused in so much oil I could have taken a bath in it and (2)so uncomfortable. It was so much oil and so slimy I could not even feel the massage it was just here rubbing her hands in the oil all over my back not really doing anything, let alone addressing any muscle tension. At one point, she really hurt my neck. I told her and she laughed saying "haha you have a lot of knots in your neck" but then proceeded to stop working on it and avoided my neck the rest of the time. Eventually, I had to stop her because it was so uncomfortable I was going nuts. It felt like aliens probing at my body with wet slimy oil slicked hands. I finally said, "I want to stop the massage and leave" So I go out into the main office and one of the front desk women along with what looked like a manager asked me what happened. I proceeded to tell them that the therapist clearly had no experience with pain and muscle tension and that I didn't understand why I was paired with her... plus her obsessive use of oil. They literally looked at me and said " oh. yeah. she just does relaxation. not that other stuff.." so then (1)why was I paired with her and (2)if laying on your stomache while someone dumps oil on your back for 40 minutes while sliding up your back doing no actual massage is considered relaxation then **** me. Then.. .they charged me. for the ENTIRE SESSION. AND TRIED TO GET ME TO BOOK ANOTHER SESSION I was literally in shock and just said fine and left. In the process of disputing the charge now and I would advise anyone to stay far far away from this place. If they had apologized and not charged me for the session I may have considered trying another therapist but I was floored. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had at a massage studio. Massages are not cheap and its out right stealing to book someone with a therapist who is completely incompetent and tell me that she "specializes in pain management" I don't think so. Good luck to them. you have been warned. oh, and p.s., they kept writing down my last name as Jensen, which is not my name. I told them a million times and they would not fix it. man. read more

I absolutely love going here. The people at the front desk are always so kind and helpful. My favorite person to go to is Christina. She is amazing, I love getting facials by her. So much so that I became a member because I loved my results so much. I just got microdermabrasion done over the weekend by Christina and I am loving my results. My coworkers even complimented my skin without me mentioning I got this done. 1000% go here. Everyone is lovely. read more

I have been a member of massage envy for about 6 years now. It definitely has pros and cons. Overall Pros: multiple locations, at times can fit you in last minute, friendly staff - they make it a point to get to know you. Overall Cons: the massages are 50 mins (5 mins to talk/change in the beginning, 5 minutes to wrap up and change at the end. However many times if they are running late or whatever the case is, it can go into your massage time. They don't have robes which is okay except that I got a massage monthly during both my pregnancies and would have to stop the massage, change and use the rest room frequently. The front desk ladies at the Wayne location again are nice, however multiple times my massage therapist has come out requesting my filled out paperwork and I was never given the paper work. Which relates to the con of going into my massage time. Overall, it's a nice franchise and it helps when needed. I would recommend it but I feel there's definitely some things to work on. read more

Classic bait and switch. When they first opened, They advertised a chair massage for a discounted price. They also advertised that walk ins were welcome. So I stopped in with my daughter to see if we could each get a 30 minute chair massage. They said they did not have anyone available right then to do a 30 minute chair massage. Which is fine as we did not have an appointment. But then they proceeded to try and sell us each an hour massage which they could do right now. So explain to me how they don't have the personnel available to do a discounted 30 minute massage, but they can do a more expensive hour massage. I walked out and never went back again. read more

Terrible service at the front desk lately. Downright rude, unfriendly with major attitudes. Including management. I got tired that I can never get an appt with my therapist. Called the day after the June 1 booking day and she was already booked until next year !?? I told the manager I would like to cancel my membership and she basically said nothing besides I will send you a form. No questions - could care less, just very short with me. I hope the owner of this ME reads this and looks into how terrible the service is here. The therapists know it and I feel bad for them. All I can say is Good Riddance to this place. read more

Great massage, once again. I love this chain and I generally stay away from all chains. Whether or not you are a member, you can't go wrong with the prices for these massages. The only frustrating thing about this place is that trying to Google precise directions.....it can't find them.....they're in the Preakness Shopping Center near Macy's. I've actually become very upset with my recent experiences at Massage Envy through-out the North Jersey region. I joined while on a business trip in Georgia, where I had a GREAT experience and at the price of $49/month for massage, I thought.. why not? You're able to use your pre-paid credit for a massage at any location in the US, so I thought it would be perfect as I tend to travel frequently. I have been a "member" since June 2010. In the last 7 months, I have probably experienced 3 mediocre massages. That's almost half of the massages I have purchased! I don't think it's acceptable considering the amount of money I am paying. In the experience I had with this location, I came in 15 minutes early as it was the first time at the location to fill out the proper paperwork, and my therapist was running about 15 minutes late, but I was penalized and my massage was cut short about 10 minutes. I don't think it is fair to penalize me when the therapist was late or if another member was late to their massage. It just feels like a hit or miss with Massage Envy, and when my membership is over. I am going to stick with small boutiques. Even if I am paying more. read more

I've been a member since the site opened. Christina does my customized facials & is outstanding! I've had multiple massage therapists for deep tissue & I don't have any complaints. Therapists are very accommodating if you state what you need. Appointments could be difficult to book with a specific therapist, so I would recommend creating a standing appointment if you can. read more

Staff is really friendly and makes the most of your time. I've never had a bad masseuse there and they always check if the pressure is ok. The also offer water and a place to sit after your massage before you leave. Definitely worth the money. read more

My boyfriend and I scheduled a back to back massage and facial at this location. He had Joan for his 60 minute massage. She listens to your needs and is magical with knots and achy areas on the back. He highly recommended Joan for our next visit. I had Uytal for my 90 minute facial. Very knowledgeable about skin care. She let me know exactly what she was about to do with each product. I went for my monthly massage at the Wayne location and MUST say that I had an incredible experience. The front desk girl was incredibly friendly and helpful. It's very rare to come across such a kind receptionist, especially at the end of the day, when everyone is tired and ready to go (I had the last appointment). My massage Therapist's name was Iesha, and she truly gave my the best massage I have every experienced. She was also very friendly making small talk and made me feel very comfortable. I thought because it was the end of the day, the quality of my massage would be affected, but this was not the case. Iesha delivered a perfect amount of pressure (I prefer a firm massage) and really targeted the areas I expressed needed extra attention. However, she managed to be extremely thorough and I felt so relaxed by the end of my massage. I have had other experiences with this franchise, but not a single one measured up to this. This experience alone has made me refer at least 5 friends and family, and all to Iesha. So thank you very much Massage Envy in Wayne! When they say one hour, they mean 30-35 min max. They take you in your massage room at the exact time of your appointment, give you about 10 mins to undress, come in, talk to you for another 5 mins about your problem parts (which you fill out in the paperwork anyway), then proceed to rub lotion on you for half an hour. I have gone to plenty of other massage establishments, including Elements, and other spas, and have never had this issue. Super overpriced for absolutely nothing. Today was my first time at a Massage Envy. It was overall a very good experience. Staff is very nice. Becky was my massage therapist and she was absolutely great! I went in with slight lower back pain and that simply melted away as she started on my legs. Even though I've never been to a ME before, I've had a dozen or more professional massages in the past and this was one of the best. The only reason I didn't give a full five stars is because I could frequently hear noises outside the room while I was being massaged. I think this had to do with the fact that the room I was in was very close to the bathroom. Not terrible, just something that might bother others. I Plan to see Becky for future massages. read more

They suck. No stars. I had a 12 month membership, I went for a message every month. an hour and a half. They always started the massage late and finished early. Now I went to use my last massage that they went into my account and took the money for, I was told I was past my member date of 2/19 and they no longer owed me a massage and would not refund my money. It was on 2/25. I was a customer there for 12 months and they screwed me on my money and my massage. i will put a complaint in with the BBB and Consumer affairs. No Stars -5. read more

I give Massage Envy a 0 rating. Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I was a customer for over eight years. I had replaced my credit card and had yet to give them my new card for future charges. When I contacted them to make an appointment, they told me I was no longer a member. When I tried to rectify the situation, I was told I could but I would pay a higher monthly premium. I was very upset and instead of the reception trying to fix the situation, she told me "to bring it down a couple of notches". This is no way to treat a loyal customer. read more

I have been a member since 2009 at the Massage Envy in the Preakness location. I can't say enough about the staff: Ann (Manager), Judy ( Accounting - who I just found out left), and the rest of the staff. They pretty much have all been there since me and my husband joined. The professionalism, every time I call is amazing, but not only that, the kindness, the down-to-earth friendliness is awesome. The therapists are all great too. I used to see Linda, who was so great for relaxation massages, and the facials ( by Christina) helped my skin during my pregnancies. I have now moved to Atlantic County, and although the ME is OK, it will never compare to my experience at the Wayne ME. You are all like one BIG FAMILY in business and that is hard to find these days! read more

Was very unhappy with my service and then was harassed immediately following my service to purchase packages while I was in the "relaxation room". Nothing about it was relaxing. My massage itself was a prenatal massage and I was laid on my back which I found odd since I have had many prior and pregnant women are not supposed to be on their backs. When I was turned to my side at the end the were no pillows or wedges and made for it to be pretty uncomfortable. I called the next day and asked to speak with a manager and was told they didn't have one available. I asked when they would be in and they repeatedly asked what it was in reference to and I said I would prefer to talk to a manager. They told me they couldn't have one call me back unless I told them my reason for calling. read more

bottom line nightmare....I scheduled my appointment early in the morning for 5pm and they waited until i drove 20 minutes away only for them to tell me that they gave my spot away...i even made my appointment on time. they're only excuse was that they tried to contact me, except for the fact that they never called me. On top of that, i called numerous times and left a voicemail in order to confirm my spot... my advice is that the customer service is bullshit and any other massage envy beside the one in WAYNE, NJ may be the better option. read more
