Was in need of an urgent massage based on sore muscles from work, travel, and fitness. When booking the massage the receptionist talked me into a enhanced treatment for 10.00 more and that it would be before for my line of work. Funny as I was leaving she stated those same words to someone else. No sincerity there at all. All about the point of sale; she got me that one time. The gentleman checking me in was excellent and very kind but after the massage was a little to pushy for my liking. Massage therapist was excellent. Toward the end of massage started to mention he wanted to see me each week for 90 minutes and he would give me daily stretches. After the massage I never received the stretches but I was definitely asked multiple times about a membership and informed about their holiday deal. I stated I don't live here. They often cut the time short for facials. For the price, this is unacceptable. I had a facial two days ago. Added an upgrade using an extra credit and another $15 upgrade, as well. I was on time, early even. She left the room after I said I will be just ONE minute. All I had to do was remove my top. She came back at 2:08 for a 2pm appt then she turned the lights back on at 2:44. That is 36 minutes for a double credit visit plus another $15 eye upgrade! All of the aestheticians lead you out front and upsell you and that comes from management, so they have no choice about that part, but don't cut my facial short to upsell cream, which is what I suspected was the reason for cutting me short. I feel like I pay premium price to not have ads like a timeshare sales pitch! At $80/month that visit was worth $175, plus tip, All that extra money and I couldn't even get the full visit? I do realize, the upgrades are extra creams not extra time, but if you are adding another layer it stands to reason that you would definitely take the full time to do the facial, so it would at least be the full time allowed. Also, you never know what they are putting on you, but the supposed $15 upgrade was just adding a cream, no eye massage or anything just quick dabbing on some cream. The other lady always does a little eye massage, even without the extra treatment and I got NO eye massage at all with an EYE upgrade. She just dabbed on some cream. It seemed like I got way LESS for an extra $80 credit and an additional extra $15 fee than if I had just waited for an appt with the other aesthetician to begin with. My biggest disappointment was the front desk being not that interested in my complaint. I've been going to this place for years for the massages. You'd think they would actually try to keep people happy. I have one masseuse that I keep the membership for, but she is hard to get into and now I am finding the facials to be a big rip off. They are way more about upselling than actually doing the facial. That much money to slap on some cream for only 36 minutes!! It feels more like a promo mini-facial to sell me on the actual thing, rather than a full on facial you paid money for. If you get a membership here, stick to the massages. The other stuff is not really worth it or at least its inconsistent in the quality. Even the masseuses are sort of hit or miss, until you find a good one and then they tend to leave as soon as you find one or two that you like. read more

If you're the type of person who books last minute on the actual day you want a massage, this place might work for you. As a 15 year member of Massage Envy, I was shocked to find that this location refused to transfer my membership to a location closer to home. I never authorized them to transfer my membership TO their location and when I attempted to rectify the situation, not even their corporate office would ensure I was taken care by placing my membership to the correct location. Messages go unaddressed by this location and short of cancelling my membership, I'm out of options except to bombard them with bad reviews. Unscrupulous! Corporate America at its WORST! I have had a membership with ME for close to 3 years due to a back injury. My last 4 appointments with their location have gotten cancelled by their employees and they never have anyone to fill the cancellations. Pros: Staff is friendly, location is clean, lots of parking, massage is good. You choose your focus areas and pressure levels beforehand so your therapist already knows before you meet. Was able to book an appointment when all other massage locations were booked. Cons: Paid for 1 hour massage, but got a 50 minute massage because they account for 10 minutes to change. She talked to me like I was stupid because I didn't understand the prices and asked her to clarify, you should be having better customer service as a receptionist your the first face we see coming in and she had an attitude from the start for no reason as I was super nice just buying a gift card. And if someone isn't understanding your prices you shouldnt be making people feel stupid for asking. This location had really nice receptionists and felt new and clean (I gave them an extra star just for that). But my massage and therapist, I'm being generous with two stars. First, my therapist saw me and thought she knew me and that I had been there before. She went off asking If I wanted what she did last time.. and I had to wait for the opportunity to finally pipe in and tell her I'd never been there. (I went because I was given a gift certificate for my birthday). She clearly didn't hadn't looked at my paperwork or preferences. After she left to let me get on the table she was gone about 5 minutes (a long time when you're laying there and I had arrived 15min early) and I looked up saw my massage was starting at least six minutes late. Her style of massage was fast and brash. (Next time I'll ask for someone who's relaxing??) I got no soft, soothing or therapeutic vibes because she worked so quickly. She complained to me about what horrible knots I had a couple times and even said "wow, this is a lot, oh well...you're already here" that comment really made me feel uncomfortable and awkward. Sorry I came for a massage?? I also didn't appreciate that she felt comfortable enough to curse a few times while she told me stories about her personal life. It also felt like when she got on a roll with a story that she forgot what her hands were even doing.. At the end of the massage (booked for 90min) I noticed she ended a full 10 minutes early. I didn't at mind at first because I wanted to get out of there. I got dressed quickly and went back to the nice receptionists...I was almost checked out when the therapist came out with a drink of water acting so surprised that I had beat her out to the desk...I tipped her well and left never wanting to go back to that location (I wouldn't want to see her) I almost felt bad because I thought maybe she ended early because she worked so hard on my knots, also why I still tipped her well. Plus I've worked in the service industry all my life. But it was an unpleasant experience, especially since it was a gift from someone who wanted to treat me. I have been a member for almost two years and love my massages. I'm a cancer survivor and massages helped me when my bones ached while on my cancer meds. I did have one disturbing therapist named Debbie. Made random comments during my massage about "please don't try to kill me". Very bizarre. Never again with her. Massage therapist Heather is excellent! She's wonderful and pays attention to the amount of pressure preferred and remembers. Angela is excellent for facials. I truly look forward to my sessions. The atmosphere at ME is quiet and soothing with well trained massage therapists. Since I get a massage every couple of weeks from the same therapist (Susan), she knows my trouble spots and helps me get the relief I need. Belonging to their program allows me to get frequent, "customized to my needs" massages, at an affordable price. Totally bummed. I have been going here since June of 2008 and learned to ignore the front desk. The worst customer service people ever. They are not friendly and give the impression you are annoying them. That has been the norm since day one. My friend actually went with me originally but had such a bad experience with the appt and then the follow up with the Manager was laughable so she never went back. I however have major issues with my jaw and back it's next to required for me. So the occasional appt mix up over the years and horrible people that great you were not enough to deter me from my appt. About 8 months ago things got pretty bad and I was going to cancel but I had saved up so many massages from lack of wanting to go. I needed to barrel through them so I could cancel with out losing them. My normal guy had just quit and they gave me Jennifer. A-mazing! She was so good I no longer wanted to quit. Not only did I not quit I upped my appts to 90 minutes. Love love love her! All of a sudden the issues are beginning again. I have moved further away so these mix ups are a much bigger deal. After another appt mix up last Sunday I had to cancel...I couldn't deal with it any more. Sadly I will be moving on to another company. I recommend the same for you. I went a couple of weeks ago to this location. I booked an appointment and went in for a massage. No light weight I train pretty hard in my sports endeavors and had been feeling out of whack. Maybe my expectations are consequently also out of whack or because I am in the martial arts that I expected something more personal or attentive than what I received. I walked out 45 minutes after the massage and felt about the same as I did going in and that was in need of a good massage. The woman that massaged on me worked on me for close to an hour and then I got into a dose of high pressure sales at the front. I am more of a 'go when I need one' type of fellow rather than going every single week or month like clockwork. I realize that is not their bread and butter when it comes to this business but when I marked down that I like a massage about once a month and they are trying to get me to sign up for one in 2 weeks, it means they really aren't listening/reading to what information I provided that they asked for when I went in and instead trying to upsell how often I go.. I was going every other week but then decided to upgrade myself and go weekly. What the hell... This is my weekly treat to myself. Dennis is really good for deep tissue but he hurt himself so my new guy is Brano. He's just as good. For a little guy he sure can put the pressure on. Can't wait for my Friday appointment... The whole membership deal is not bad at all... 1 free massage a month and they have a location in Costa Mesa so I can get my massage when I am in Southern Cali. The atmosphere is on the lower end of massage places, but quite a nice version of the chain (I've been to others). The front desk girl was pleasant and the massages were prompt. The temperature in the rooms was great and it's very clean. It's also about as inexpensive as massages get without some kind of deal. The massage therapists I had were ok - nothing bad, nothing excellent. The massages felt very nice and helped with immediate tension, but weren't particularly effective as massage "therapy" (my regular place is wonderful for that). With a physically active life style and sedentary job, there are times when a massage is pretty necessary - tightness or soreness in a particular area can really benefit from it. This is not a place for that kind of massage, in my opinion. The therapists were a little chattier than I like (silence is golden during a massage). I'm sure I should have been a little more clear about my preferences. If you prefer silence, it's not their default setting, so just let them know. My husband and I have both been to this location a few times, mostly out of convenience, so this represents multiple experiences. At Massage Envy they use Murad products, which I had heard good things about from a friend, so in a last ditch effort I decided to give a Massage Envy facial a whirl. I went in about 2 weeks ago with inflamed, broken out skin. I left with skin that was much more calm, with less inflammation, and skin that ultimately cleared up (I am still shocked about the last one). Kristi really knows her way around the Murad product line. The facial I received helped my face so much, and the products she recommended that I took home, have helped me maintain my glowing complexion. I am still in a state of shock that I FINALLY found a facialist/product line that has cleared up my skin. I'm very picky about massages and my last eight massages I thought were subpar with other businesses. At 37 weeks pregnant, I scheduled a prenatal massage. I show up for my massage and they notify me they do not have an appt for me. I showed them the 4 minute call record with their location from the day before. They said they could get me in a week later with a female therapist and would cover the cost. I booked this appt for a week out for an hour massage. I arrived at 3:55 for a 4pm massage. Massage started at 4:16 and ended at 4:58. Pretty sure that's not an hour. I've been coming to this location for around 8 years now and a member for almost 11. Once I find a therapist I like I stick with them. Right now I see Leahann (sp?) every couple weeks. She is awesome and always fixes my problem areas. The front desk people are almost always friendly and easy to work with, but there seems to be a lot of turnover. The only thing I wish management would do would be to hire more deep tissue therapists. My regular therapist was out for awhile and no one else could really do what I needed at the time. I am always looking forward to my bi-weekly visits and I recommend coming here to get away from the stresses of life, if only for an hour or two. read more

Went for my first massage ever here and it was just ok. Their techniques didn't really align with my needs so I was a bit disappointed. As for the reason I'm giving this two stars, I couldn't believe how forceful the front desk was in trying to get me to sign up for a membership. They said "it's important to keep up the progress we started on your muscles every month" which is clearly some bs they say in order to get more money out of people. I had a gift card from Christmas that I finally had an opportunity to use. I work two jobs and have children so I'm very busy. I scheduled a 90 min massage. I have had massages at lots of places resort's, spa's, you name it and this was by far the most meh experience I've had. She never touched my hands or feet!?! That is a part of the massage I personally look forward to. I'm a hair stylist and expressed to my therapist that this is a focus area for me. She never touched them! She spent 20 min rubbing an area I can only describe as my arm pit!? Why?! I don't know anyone who has "triggers" or "tension" in their arm pit! So strange! My issue is that you are paying for an hour massage, but by the time they get you, you undress, talk about focus areas ect you are only getting a 50 min massage. And they always end 5 min early. DONT SIGN CONTRACT!!! I have been a member for a year now and have only been able to do 4 massages because the lack of time. So when my year contract was up, naturally I would not re-sign another year contract when I can't find time to use it. They continued to charge me for a new year contract when I specifically told them I didn't want to re-sign. Then I come to find out I was suppose to sign a cancellation form for them to stop automatically taking money out of my account! So I tell them okay I will sign now that I know but I want a refund for this month. They told me a manager had to talk to me but wasn't sure when one would be in, but would have them call me right away. This was 2 weeks ago and I have called 3 times since receiving the same response and NO call! This is very frustrating and VERY unprofessional. And then when I know I have 8 massages left, they tell me that if I cancel I have within 30 days to use up my 8 massages that I paid for!! Their contracts are a SCAM!
