I bought Memberships for my husband and myself, thinking this would be great and easy for bi- monthly massages. Since becoming a member I have called over 9 times to book massages for us. They are always 1 to 2 weeks out before we could book one as they are very busy. You will never get one in a weekend either. Finally I get an appointment for each of us. I show up and am told it will be $100 because my Membership expired. I told them they gave us some free ones for signing up and we hadn't even used those yet... they said they had no record. My bad for not reading the small print about expiration (which I will doublecheck when I get home) However, when I booked the appointments there was no mention of expiration and it was gonna cost $100 each. Terrible customer service with so much attitude. I spoke to multiple people and they were both rude. Especially the women who was explaining how the packages work. My mother In law went get a first time massage there yesterday. After the massage was done she had called me since there was a language barrier between her and the employee of the store. I had told the employee she wanted to tip 20% three different time throughout the conversation. Then she offered us a package $60 a month, I was going back and fourth explaining it and so on. After my mother in law decided she would sign up, the employee said " oh no I made a mistake it's $70 a month". After going back and fourth for a few minutes my mother in law decided to change her mind and not buy the membership. Can you guess why? The lack of professionalism and honesty!!! Walked in... instead of a warm hello. I got a " you have an appointment". Then the masseuse was late, apt was at 2:45. She even apologized for running 10 minutes behind. The massage was so bad I couldn't believe it. First time I've paid for a professional massage and couldn't wait for it to be over. I literally paid to get lotion put on me in the most awkward possible way. No warm towel at the end to take it off. Just left there all greasy. Finally, at the time for payment I made it to the counter at 3:48... informed her that the massage was not an hour, that she started late. Front desk employee let me know it was definitely an hour... I told her how is that even possible when it just NOW became an hour. She looked confused. Regardless... very subpar service from beginning to end. After my review, I was contacted by Jeff. He wanted to know what happened. I explained what Happened. He apologized for our experience and offered to have us go in again on the house. My husband and I were both hesitant. My husband was dead set on no but I told him to give it one more try. We went in today and I am so glad we did. I was placed with Sally. She was heaven sent. I told her to please go very gentle and told her about my previous experience. She was very gentle. It was such a nice experience. My husband said the same thing. He was so happy with his massage. He said that's what he wanted all along. We will definitely be coming back! So I have never mad a massage before and my sister was gracious to give me and my husband a gift cert. I called in to make appt and it was easy to get us in. I wasn't asked what kind of massage we wanted or anything. I didn't know what to expect and we both declined legs and feet. I just wanted back, arms and head. He wanted back, arms, head and face. I don't remember what their names were but omg.... I've never been so hurt in my life. I lie I think I felt this bad after a major car accident years ago. I had to ask twice for her to not do it so hard. Legit I was clinching my buttcheeks cause it hurt so bad. There was one spot on my back that she kept rubbing and kept saying it was a knot.. umm no that would be a bone. It hurt so bad I wanted to cry. The 2 minute head massage was great. I walked out and me and my husband locked eyes and he looked like he had just got the shit kicked outta him. I asked if he was ok and he said he didn't feel good. We thanked them and left and as soon as we walked out we both laughed and said how bad we felt and I said I needed a rub because of the rub I had just got. He immediately felt like he had the flu. I made him drink lots of water. Later on that evening we were in the house and he put his hand on my back. It hurt so bad and I gasped and he said it shouldn't hurt like that. He pulled my shirt up to look at my back and I had tiny broken blood vessels all over my back. They look like tiny hickeys or pinch marks all over my back. I'm a back sleeper so of course I couldn't sleep all night cause I was in so much pain. And the flu like symptoms that he felt yesterday, well now I'm feeling them! I have been bed bound al day. I don't know what kinda massage we got since we were never asked, and I don't know the name of our masseuse but looking at the bruises I have, I'm guessing they came straight outta "helgas house of pain" read more

i had the worst massage ever yesterday at massage envy oxnard. i honestly just wish i stopped it and walked out vs continuing for the 50 min. Vonnie performed a no pressure massage with the palms of her hands. I asked for medium pressure and got absolutely none. She didn't use her finger tips to massage it was literally her palms. when re-booking for another i informed the front desk of my experience. All i was offered was aromatherapy next time which i'm not interested in. My husband had a good experience which is the only reason i'll try again at this location again. when rebooking the front desk said i wanted a high pressure massage which is NOT accurate. i just want what i asked for which is medium. Avoid Vonnie unless you want oil palmed on you with no pressure at all. **Update- i've been back twice with Andrea and she is wonderful. management did offer another massage for my bad experience and made good on issue. raising review from one star to 3 based on improvement. read more

Hit and miss. Sometimes you get a great therapist and other times you don't. I love the waiting room with water and hot neck wraps. I'm only giving this 1 star because I had a facial done and really enjoyed the esthetician and the products I purchased, but I've had 2 massages and they were AWFUL. In September, I paid for a 90 minute massage on my vacation at which the masseuse named Donna told me her ENTIRE life story the whole time. When the massage was over I was shocked that she had talked for so long and did NOT feel relaxed. I figured it was a freak occurrence for a masseuse to talk that much through a massage, so I booked another one a few weeks ago. The masseuse this time was, Christine. I told her I struggled with tension headaches and chronic pain, and she told me a massage wouldn't help, but instead I needed to take magnesium. I'm sorry... are you a Dr? She talked the ENTIRE massage about her conspiracies and shared her chronic pain stories with me (which were TMI). Meanwhile, I had marked for the masseuse to NEVER touch my butt or chest. I have a past with sexual assault and it's not an area I'm comfortable with; I shut down. She apparently didn't review my file and reached UNDER THE SHEETS and massaged my bare butt!!!!! I was SO SHOCKED! The previous masseuse, Donna, had told me even if I had my butt massaged their policy was over the sheets. From that point on I was DONE. So, 2 HORRID experiences and then they double charged me in November for my membership. For some reason they failed to take out the $65 in October so they took $130 in November. I called to question and they explained it was "out of their hands". I'll be cancelling my membership and staying the HELL away from this place. Suggest you do the same. read more

The Oxnard location is very comforting and welcoming. I tried many different massage therapists until I found the perfect one for me. Donna is amazing! She is very educated on identifying areas of my body that need recovering from stress, tension and workout recovery. My ongoing visits with her have increased my range of motion and flexibility. She recommended different stretching techniques for the last 10 mins of my massage. I would highly recommend Donna. Because of her I signed up for the monthly membership. I go once a month, sometimes twice, for a 90 minute massage with Maria E. She is so little but her hands are super strong. I will not go to anyone else! She does a good combo of Swedish and deep tissue on me and OMG the BEST. She stretches you and really focuses on what area you ask for, but can also do a combo of the whole body, which with the 90 minute massage she still takes time on the other parts of your body. Best massage therapist I have ever had hands down! On the other hand, when I went to this location for the first time I had a back facial. Got one for my husband and decided to get one for myself to see what a back facial was all about. The esthetician was nice but the back facial sucked. I've been receiving services here for almost a year, and have an overall great experience so far. The facials from Lisa have really improved my skin, her neck and shoulder massages are fantastic and she is very comfortable and fun to talk with. I had to see a couple of different massage therapists here before I found one that best fit my needs - which I think is fairly common. Shelley specializes in deep-tissue and the work she does is truly amazing. She is also very friendly, is always willing to focus on what you need most, and is always checking in to make sure you (the client) are comfortable. The front desk is usually very helpful. I was especially appreciative of how they took on switching my membership from a different Massage Envy out of state. The only thing I wish they did a little bit better is appointment reminders. They don't call you and I've probably only gotten two e-mail reminders in the past year. I usually record my appointments in my phone, but sometimes information gets lost and I have to call myself to confirm because they rarely do it. Overall, though, this is a really nice place to receive facials and massages. read more

She is an absolute angel, that ensures you are taken care of in the tranquility room, while she readies the massage suite. She ensures you are comfortable on your first visit, and remembers your nuances upon your return. Doreen was able read bodily reactions and adjust pressure as needed without verbal communication, and asks if you require adjustments. 10/10! Okay Massage Envy, you may just have lost a customer. I came to you today for much needed pampering. This did not happen. All my esthetician did was try to sell me product. I explained that I wasn't going to buy any product today, but she didn't stop. It didn't feel like helpful advice but pushing a product. No thank you. Plus you got something in my eyes and they won't stop burning or watering. Then my massage. I was very clear, when I walked in the door that I needed my feet worked on. That I just did a show where they took a lot of abuse so PLEASE work on my feet. They were barely touched. When I asked if she was going to work on them again, it was met with rolled eyes and the statement, "We only have 3 minutes left." I also did not like being given a robe without a sash, and when I asked for one, more rolling eyes, and the statement, "I think we are out." I did not care for being put in another room, instead of the lounge area, between my facial and my massage. I felt like I was in a doctors office or a closet. I joined your company with high hopes. I received a gift card for mother's day and made and appointment for a one hour massage for 7/25 @ 11am. I made the appointment 2 weeks ago. Got a confirmation voice mail on 7/24 and I called 15 minutes prior to leaving the house to make sure. Andrea confirmed it and I show up 13 minutes later to be told my appointment was canceled. I was there 10 minutes early to check in. I told Andrea, I literally had just spoke to her and she said "i know i called you right back to tell you". However if I were to cancel I need to cancel with plenty of time or be charged to the card I have to give when making the appointment. This is absolutely terrible customer service. At a time when businesses are reopening and customers can take our money anywhere - not the right strategy in rebuilding customer relationships. Andrea lacks customer service skills, tact and resolution. Absolutely zero logic. Took the situation personal "it's not my fault". "it's not my fault a therapist doesn't feel well". No Andrea, it's not your fault - however, as the first face of contact when walking into a business that is providing lousy customer service - you need to be trained on how to resolve these matters. Okay so I was really looking forward to getting my massage done here but all I ended up with is a disappointment. From start to end it was just a gimmick on taking your money one way or another. 1) firstly I paid for a 1hr massage why is there 5 min being deducted for me to "get comfortable" and the 5 more min for me to dress up in the end? 2) I was never provided a hot towel in the beginning to help me "get comfortable" even though i was told i would. I thought maybe like most places it'll be at the end but nope didn't get it then either. In fact, my massage ended very abruptly and awkwardly in the end and I also felt like she was rushing me so she wouldn't go over time. 3) At checkout I was of course offered their package (like I didn't see that one coming) and when I politely said I was not interested at the moment I was asked "well may I know why?" :/ hmm.. For that kind of service and up sell I will not be going back for a 2nd 50min massage for $100 bc i don't want to commit to a membership! I will say though although the staff was pushy And I know it's part of their job, they were friendly. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! I am a mommy of three who decided to spoil myself with a massage (right before Valentine's Day.) I scheduled my appointment online for tonight. It's been hard to stick with one therapist because I've had a handful of talented ones. They all truly care about your wellness. Today I saw Christine. The only thing I can review with massage envy is their customer service, which I can confidently say is less than subpar. I called twice yesterday trying to make an appointment (at 10 am and then again at 3 pm) leaving voicemails each time. After not hearing back all day, I decided to request an appointment online around 6 pm. Once again I didn't hear back. So this morning I called for a third time and finally got through. I asked to schedule an appointment and was responded to with "I need to put you on hold" and then music in probably 4 seconds flat. I only have a babysitter for my little one after a certain time so I let the receptionist know my schedule, and for whatever reason, the attitude volume was turned up to 10. She gave me one appointment time that potentially could have worked, I just needed to make a few phone calls. I also asked for the following day, and she gave me one appointment with a male masseuse. I personally feel more comfortable with females masseuses so I asked her if there were any available, and that's when the attitude volume was off the scale. I heard a scoff on the other line and "that's the only person available". I politely let her know I'd try another location and thanked her. To which her response was "No problem" and hung up. I'll give the Camarillo location a call and see if I have a similar experience, but even if I get an appointment, I doubt I'll work with Massage Envy a second time. I came into this location and Madison was great! BUT I cancelled an appointment and I was still charged. I called to notify them in regards of this and they said that it already went through to my account, false. It did not. So I've been calling now for the last THREE WEEKS! I work full time 7-430 and I have not been able to contact the manager. I've been told multiple times to call and they will TRY to leave a message to the manager. The biggest take away is that management does not priority customer service. Regardless if it was a Service, restaurant, or store the only reason companies run are because of customers. This location clearly does not prioritize that because I called again today and it seemed that I annoyed the receptionist jasmine. She told me again to call tomorrow and that she will leave a note but it's not for sure the manager will call me. Management needs to work on their customer service and response to those customers who need the assistance or have not had good experience. The only reason I'm leaving this review is In hope that this location gets in contact with me and hopefully to put on the owner's radar that customer service and needs to be reiterated to the entire staff. Tried to schedule an appointment for a facial to use the remaining balance of my Mother's Day gift card. They would not hold the appointment without a credit card because my gift card did not cover the full balance of the facial which was $100 because I was not a member and I had already come in previously and now charged none member pricing!!! I just walked out of Massage Envy for the first time and I'm a little less than pleased. Sorry for the LENGTHY review, but I like to be precise. First, even before I got there, finding out the prices was a pain. The scheduling online is VERY convenient; I do love that, but you have to go through an entire set up profile process if you've never been there. I didn't want to commit to a slot before I knew the price, so I called and Erica answered. She was very sweet, and told me that since it was my first time it would be $50 for an hour long massage and $75 for a 90 minute massage. Ok great, but why couldn't this be posted on the website? I understand that prices may vary by location, but once you select the location, you should be able to see the prices. Anyway, $50 is a great price so I decided to go with it and I booked online with Carley for 4 PM today. I show up today early to fill out my forms. It seems like a lot of people have bad things to say about the customer service or girls in the front, but they were nice to me. One seemed to be training so she was getting the hang of things, but they were both kind and checked me in. When I checked out, I heard a different receptionist ask someone checking in if he wanted a warm compress for his neck... that would have been nice because I showed up so early, but perhaps he was there for a different service. Not sure, but that is not what is compelling me to give 2 stars. I met Carley and she was very sweet! She seems like a gentle person, very soothing to be around. She greeted me in the lobby at 3:55. We walked back and I explained my problem areas. I said I was willing to forego having my legs/feet worked on because I was having such issues with my neck/upper back (I'm studying for the Bar exam, which is another reason why I came to this location- I live so close and was crunched for time). She said okay, and walked out of the room at 3:58. They make it very clear that 10 minutes of the service time is reserved for consultation and dressing. They must take that very seriously because she walked back in at 4:03/4. No problem, I was expecting that. She begins to work on me and is going up and down my whole back. She asked if the pressure was okay, and I said she could go a little firmer because my upper back is really messed up. Her pressure didn't change, and she continued working on my whole back and not focusing on my upper. The point of me going there was to work out my kinks, and I am still sitting here in pain. I could feel her going over knots but she did not work to get them out, she just kept going over my whole back with different movements and techniques. I could understand how this would be fine for a normal appointment, but I specified my upper back was the problem area and even forewent having my legs and feet worked on, so I thought she would understand to really get in there. I'll fully admit I could have said something because I understand communication is key in these situations, but she didn't listen when I told her to be firmer/focus on those areas the first time I said it, so I wasn't sure if she'd listen if I said it again. I flipped over and noticed the lights were still on as bright as they were when I came into the room. Maybe it's just my preference, but I prefer the room to be darker, at least when I'm face up. That made it a little less soothing for me because I could feel the brightness even through closed eyes. The music was great, though, and the environment was generally quiet even though there is one hallway for all of the rooms. Carley ends the massage with a quick head/temple massage, which was nice. I had decided that I was going to give 3 stars because she didn't do anything wrong, per se; it just wasn't as good as I was hoping. However, what made me knock this down to 2 stars was that when she walked out of the room, it was 4:45 on the dot, meaning my massage was from 4:04-4:45 for a 60 minute slot where 50 minutes is supposed to be actual massage time. Being shorted 9 minutes might not seem like a big deal, but when it's 9 minutes that could have been worked on my upper back, that could have made a huge difference. Also when you figure $50 for a 50 min massage, a dollar a minute, and you're expected to give a tip... I just don't feel I got my money's worth. Carley was so nice but just didn't fit my needs. I'm sure she would be great for other people, and, again, I could have spoken up more. However, being shorted almost 10 minutes isn't acceptable in an environment like this. I also expected her to walk me back up to the front, but she handed me water and told me to have a great day. Maybe that's not their policy here. So, moral of the story, I was hoping to be relaxed and have less tension in preparation of my test that is 4 days away, but I am still in pain and have lost an hour of study time (including walking there and back). They said they get complaints all the time about it, and they're working on it, but it's been that way for months and they don't appear to be doing anything about it. I had a membership to massage envy and it was such a waste of money!! They are always booked 3-4 weeks in advance and I would always get a call a day before or day of saying my message therapist couldn't come in. Weekends are always booked as well so if you are working during the week you will have very low chances of finding an appointment on weekends. At the Oxnard location I had Renne, and she was so weird and rude prior to the massage. I was 2 minutes late but called to let them know and when I arrived Renne did not come to get me for at least 7 minutes. I kindly asked her if we could make up 5 minutes and she was so rude to me and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I wanted to leave right then because of how uncomfortable I felt, but I had drove 30 minutes to get the massage and already paid. If you do end up getting a massage do NOT go with Renne. the massage was cut short (ended 5 minutes prior to the 1 hour mark) so I did not even feel relaxed. I now cancelled my membership because of multiple horrible experiences (at different locations as well) and plan to go to local massage places. read more

I forget the name of the cute guy that helped me out (Jose ?) the entire time (long hair, man bun) but he was a sweet heart and was actually helpful. I just so happen to be in the area the same week I had to cancel my appointment, so I figured I go in personally to follow up about my message I had left and wanting to reschedule. Needless to say I spoke to the front desk (wish I could remember name) and she had the audacity to tell me "well we don't check our massages, that why you didn't get a call back." I was calm and collected and asked why, she then stated" we just don't because we busy with other things going on". I didn't say much to her response however I ended up rescheduling. Now let's fast forward to my most recent incident yesterday At approximately 1000hrs I received a phone call to confirm my 1800hrs appointment for today. I went in today to check in. And the girl tells me "we left you a voicemail cancelling your appointment." I immediate pull out my phone and the only phone call I have from massage envy was to confirm my appointment at 1000hrs. I'm thinking to myself "ohhh now they make calls". She said the person I was going to see got in a car accident. I understand accidents happen especially in my field of work, but professionalism and following through on customer service should not be an issue or a reason to blame someone else situation. Which I then felt she was making it seem as if I was not empathetic towards her staff. By far not the case. I became frustrated considering it's my only day off, I ask if there was anyone else to see. They said "no but we have an opening tomorrow". I began to explain my profession and availability being limited. However, They were then able to offer me "points". I then wanted to inquire how many massage credits I had the girl said "13". I also wanted inquire how the points work. She then went on to ask if I wanted to pay $10 more to ensure... I tuned her out!!! Why would I want to pay more something if I can't even get in when I schedule appointment. To those working the blue line needing to unwind from societal stress. This is NOT THE PLACE TO GO TOO. The only reason I stay is for Andrea, Shelly, and a couple others that I can't think of their names, other than that I'm using my credits and canceling soon. Now you may read this thinking is this it. But this has been happening for a few years now, and I see more the lack professionalism and customer service.
