I went for a facial on Wed, 3/18 to use one of my 90 credits. Saw Danielle and she was awesome. So, I made an appt to have a 90 min massage on Saturday for both my daughter and me. Scheduled for 9:30 and 9:45. My daughter was so excited as this was part of her birthday present! Well, we arrive at about 9:25 Saturday and the first receptionist couldn't find my appt, so the girl next to her asked for my phone number. I gave it and she said you're scheduled for next Sat, not today. She had been at the desk when I checked out Wed and I said "I booked this for this Sat as I was leaving Wed, so the man helping me must have made a mistake." I thought, in the spirit of customer service, I would get an "oh, I'm so sorry about that, our next available time is so-and-so." Nope. Instead, she argued with me. She said, "Well, we don't have any facials available today," and I repeated that we were not here for a facial, but a massage. She asked who I was booked with and I said I think her name was Jackie. She said, "Jackie doesn't even do facials." So, AGAIN, I repeated, "We aren't here for a facial!" Then, the manager for the little side office jumps up and comes to school me that I need to be respectful as she was only trying to help. Respectful? Because having to repeat myself three times to a woman who clearly wasn't listening somehow qualifies as disrespect. Ok. Got it. Not sure how to make that make sense. And, trying to help? Trying to help would look like asking if we are available at any other time today, finding out if another day would work, and, perhaps apologizing instead of brushing me off the the next receptionist (I spoke with three!). The error isn't what made me decide to never return to this location, but the way they handled it was awful. A warning: if you schedule here, double check before you arrange your day around this appointment because they have no respect for their clients or their time. I am absolutely flabbergasted and frustrated by the administrative runaround at this location. I called ahead specifically to handle my membership, yet no one mentioned that a manager's physical presence was required to cancel. Since I was already driving up to pick up my sunglasses, I figured I'd 'kill two birds with one stone,' only to be told I couldn't be helped because a manager wasn't on the premises--despite the business being wide open! It is amazing to me that a functioning business lacks the basic authority to process a cancellation during posted hours. . The only reason this isn't a 1-star review is the talent on staff. How about the attitude on your General Manager Tracy. My husband isn't much into getting a massage and not a fan of Massage Envy so actually getting him to agree to one is HUGE! He has been here a few times over the last 20+ years that I have been a member and he has a profile with them, to which I usually transfer a credit to him. I dropped him off while I found a place to park. I walk in and my husband immediately tells me they don't have an appointment for him and he said I will wait for you at NYPD Pizza and leaves. I told Tracy that I made both appointments at the same time, to which she responded VERY defensively "we left 3 messages and sent a text. We had to cancel it because he didn't have a credit card on file and we didn't hear back from him. Why didn't he return our messages?" WOW! I said we never got a message and when I said why didn't you call this morning and she said she "couldn't hold the appointment & had to cancel .. and she called 3 times and mentioned calling at 7:30pm last night". We did see a call come thru but he didn't answer because he was in an appt and I mentioned that they are just calling to confirm his appointment and they will be calling me next. I never received a call and my husband never received the other 2 phone calls or text message that she claims to have sent. When I asked what number she text and rather than confirm the number, she responded "the one he just gave me". I said this recently happened to me and I asked if Katie was there and she said "this is MY clinic, I am the general manager". I dont recall his name at the moment but the guy that helped me when my appointment was cancelled, and is very friendly and helpful, walked in from the back and was standing behind her and had a surprised look on his face when he realized what had happened and I tried to get his attention, hoping he would step up, but he would not give me eye contact and said nothing. I said that I have been a member for over 15 years , why would you do this as I am the customer. She said it's HIS profile and there wasn't a credit card on file so I said then the girl that took the appointment should have asked for one .. to which she responded "she is new and this is a learning opportunity for her". I said this is horrible customer service, cancel my appointment and I walked out and joined my husband. What a horrible customer service experience! My husband will never go back now due to Tracy and her very aggressive and unprofessional demeanor. Why couldn't they pull up the appointment and see that I also made one and contace me? I have been a member of this Massage Envy for at least 10 years. As time has gone on, I have seen several of the massage therapists. Although they are all good, I think there are a few that shine a little brighter. My first choice is always going to be Gabby. She is an incredible therapist. Very, very knowledgeable about the body and the muscles and how to help alleviate pain with her massage techniques. Although I get a pretty deep massage, I have always felt much better afterwards and have noted that I am never sore either. She is truly amazing and should be appreciated for her wonderful massage and genuine concern for her clients and their overall health and wellness. Simply Amazing! I have also gone to Brenda and Jackie. Both of these ladies are amazing as well. I highly recommend either of these therapists as they are both very professional and proficient with their craft. You cannot go wrong with any of the 3 I have listed, and I am so happy that they are all still there working as long as they have been. Management needs to truly appreciate these ladies as the gems that they are! I know as a recipient of their massages, you will be extremely happy with their services. Thanks to these therapists! Last, I'd like to shout out their awesome receptionist, André Harper. This man is so welcoming and has great interpersonal skills. I don't know what they are paying him, but it's probably not enough to keep him lol! He not only is great at working the front desk and all the multi-tasking that's required, he also remembers the clients' names! I booked an online session with Jackie, who listed her pressures as up to firm. I booked a 90 minute session. She never asked about the pressure of the massage. The massage was light pressure and unlike any I've had with light rapid movements, think of a scooting your feet across the carpet. I told myself to relax and try to enjoy it.I had been looking forward to a massage for quite sometime. Near the 60 minute mark I asked her if she could apply more pressure she said that she was doing "firm pressure" and she cannot go deeper. At that point I politely said I am going to stop the massage. The entire massage was light pressure with fast rapid movements. The entire massage wasn't good. I could over look the pressure if the technique used was relaxing. I have had many massages and NEVER felt the need to ask to stop the massage. When I got to the front desk I was told I needed to pay for the entire 90 minutes even though I was dressed and back to the front by the 60 minute mark. I was prepared to pay for the time spent on the table, that is completely fair. It is unacceptable to me that I was asked to pay for the entire 90 minutes when the therapist was falsely advertised online. The young man at the front desk was apologetic. I know that there was nothing he could do but follow the policy. This is a crap policy to have in place. I have been looking to get more frequent massages and made this appointment to see how I liked this place, considering a membership. Safe to say, you lost my business. read more

If I could find a way to leave this review for Massage Envy Corporate I would. There have recently been some changes to massage envy procedures that leave much to be desire. Firstly, they changed how far out a client could book sessions. I used to have a standing appointment set up for the same day/time every week when I could book 6 months out. Now, corporate wants to existing clients like me (I've been at this location for 20 years) to compete with new clients for appointment times. Next, they instituted a stupid making appoints in 15 minute intervals leaving therapists with no time to have a lunch break and having growling stomachs during the massage session. Lastly, they have gone to a new system of leaving tips. If a client wants to leave a tip on their debit/credit card, they have to use the "tippy" interface that charges a 3.47% convenience fee. I don't care what the manager or front desk says, massage envy is obviously getting a cut of the convenience charge. This means that I have to make a special stop at my bank to get cash to leave for a tip which is very inconvenient. None of the recent changes have done a thing to provide additional customer service, they are just a way for Massage Envy to squeeze out more money from clients and therapists. read more

I have been a member of Massage Envy for around 20 years. I started in Ahwatukee and moved to Chandler over 10 years ago. I have been going to the Chandler and 101 location all these years. I went on Tuesday 4/12 when I was informed when I was checking out that I could no longer use my "grandfathered" rate at this location. When I told the lady checking me out that I had been there for 10 years and was just there a couple of weeks ago, and no one said this to me. I was stunned! The manager Tracy came out of her office raised her voice and told me I'm no longer profitable and to go back to where I signed up they will honor my contact. I replied that when I signed up they said I could go to any Massage Envy. She yelled back, "It's in your contact you should read it." After this heated exchange I paid, tipped my therapist and left to get away from Tracy. I called the Ahwatukee the location and they gave me a phone number to call. I have called twice and left 2 voicemails, no one has called me back. Both the Ahwatukee and Chandler location are owned by the same Corporation that also owns over 100 locations. I have supported this company for over 20 years! I have paid for friends gifts, referred people, tipped based on current rates and been a loyal customer through COVID. I did not quit paying, So if your thinking of getting a membership and they tell you your membership is good at all their locations they are lying. It's called "puffing". This is an example of corporate bullying the little guy. Shame on Massage Envy. If I don't hear anything soon you may see me on the news! read more

We have been a member of ME for at least 10 years and have never had a complaint. I walked in the door and was told " sir, do you have. Mask?" I told her I don't wear masks anymore because it is no longer a mandated issue. She tells me that "this establishment does and you'll be asked to leave if you don't pick one on". Well, I guess I'm just not a massage guy. I've had numerous "therapists" here, and they all hurt like hell. I have yet to get a massage that was "relaxing". Usually I'm having to fight not to tense-up. The only thing that doesn't hurt is my legs, which they worked-on because the ham-strings can be pulling on the lower back. My lower back is still sore from our visit on Sunday. I have seen no sign that anything is changing (i.e. it hurts just as much now as it did 9 months ago). However, my particular idiosyncrasies aren't enough cause to downgrade them like this. What is enough is that they apparently don't know when not to touch someone. One in our party was in an auto accident over the past weekend. We figured having the massage appointment was fortuitous. Doctors and chiropractors are all closed so we couldn't get in till Monday. The therapists were made aware, and went ahead with the massage. So on Monday we get into our chiropractor and she says that massage right after an accident is BAD. We didn't know. But one would expect a professional massage therapist to know. I am not amused. Therefore I cannot recommend this place for anything more than "I feel like getting a massage". Don't expect them to know anything about fixing actual problems, or what is or is not appropriate for your condition. Because apparently they don't. When our contract is up we will not be renewing. My wife will likely finish hers with facials, and I'm not sure what I'll do yet. Maybe just get a basic do-nothing surface massage until I'm done. read more

I love coming here as a member on a month to month basis. All you have to do is come in and check in with the front desk staff and then sit in the super dim waiting room. Water and tea and candy is available while waiting. Your masseuse will come get you and ask you questions about what kind of pain you have or what areas to work on. Then they will leave for a couple minutes to allow you to change and get under the sheets while the room is also dim with relaxing music. After 50 minutes is over and you are fully changed they will be waiting outside your room with a cup of cold water for you. Your front desk staff will ask you how your massage was and you can tip and check out! It's always a great feeling for the body and mind to be at ease. read more

Walked in tonight (6/3/21) without a mask and had one of the front receptionists check me in and take my temperature and wasn't told anything about a mask requirement. Once my masseuse, Yris, came to get me in the waiting room, we walked to the designated room and went over my problem areas and preferred pressure ( this entire time I had no mask on). Towards the end of the massage when I flip over, Yris asks if I have my mask and I told her not with me now and she tells me that it is still required and that there are even signs on the door saying so. Well Yris, I can read and both you and the receptionists have eyes and said absolutely nothing when you clearly saw I was not wearing a mask. I asked her to hand my my bag so I could check to see if I had a mask which luckily I did so I put it on to finish off the massage. Yris was clearly bothered as her demeanor changed and she threw my arms and legs around and was careless. When I checked out, the girls at the front said " and just so you know, we do have masks available if you need one ". Okay then why wasn't I told anything when I walked in by you guys or Yris until I turned over during the massage ? I've been to other locations that have not required a mask and understand some are independently owned therefore not always having the same requirements but if you're gonna harass me AFTER I walk in without a mask and when the massage is pretty much over what's the point ? The thing that turns me off with massage envy is after taxes my massage membership is around 60$ a month. There industry "tip" standard says a 60 min massage should have a gratuity of 22$ which equals a twenty percent tip. How does that equate? What it really is that massage envy wants us to tip high to compensate for them not paying their massage therapists a better rate and it guilts it's customers into thinking they aren't appropriately tipping. I had scheduled a deep tissue massage, let the therapist know I needed more pressure, was not accommodated. I brought this to the front desks attention after my service and their response was that the app is not booking friendly and this therapist indeed does not do deep tissue and I should have called to book my appointment and to not use the app in the future... No apology, nothing. As a previous JCA for massage envy I find this extremely disappointing customer service from your sales associates. No other location including this one is comparable to their massages and customer service. I booked a massage at this location for the very first time and spent over half an hour to get an appointment booked over the phone as they couldn't find me on their system. After continuous wasted efforts , I advised them to call Mesa Gateway to get my information and call me back. We booked a couples massage and specifically indicated that we wanted one male, one female therapist. Upon filling our forms today, I realized that the therapists were both females. When I inquired about it, they had no one to accommodate my massage. One girl indicated that David was available as he is still on duty but then another young lady said he has left. Apparently the young lady Tried contacting him which remained futile. The situation itself was very frustrating and on top of that it was such a waste having my husband and I leave work early to get this massage! How disappointing! And their fix to this was to offer me a sugar foot rub included in my massage time? I've been too loyal of a customer to massage envy to continually have small mishaps like these. At another location they couldn't find my name on the system and by the time they did, the spot was filled and all they did was apologize! My wife Darcy has been having issues with headaches and a knot in her neck for about 3 weeks now. We have tried a variety of things but wanted to try a massage to help. On 5/6/2022 I called to schedule an appointment for the following day and was able to schedule one for 4:00pm. I gave extremely clear instructions that this was my spouse coming into the location, provided her name, and even had to spell it a couple times for the person on the phone. I was then given a confirmation of the appointment same day and in the morning of 5/7/2022 was provided an additional confirmation to which this was confirmed. My wife (day before Mother's Day) goes into the Chandler location 15 minutes before the appointment at 3:45pm. She was then "checked in" and escorted to the waiting area. By 4:15pm no one had gotten her, and she went out to talk with a "customer service" person to inquire about her appointment. At that time the person informed her that her appointment was scheduled for 4:30pm and not 4:00pm. However, we then later found out that the person who told her this information was the massage "therapist" that was scheduled for her 4:00pm appointment. She then retreats back to the room and then again comes out to inquire at 4:37pm. At which time she is then informed that not only was she checked in incorrectly, but the "therapist" whom she spoke to about the appointment had left for the evening. For her troubles, the "customer service" person then offers to SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR HER ON THE FOLLOWING FRIDAY. Zero concern for the HOUR she had wasted sitting there. Zero concern for the actual issues that my spouse was experiencing. In addition, she felt that CHARGING HER FULL COST FOR THE APPOINTMENT A WEEK OUT was enough. After learning about this, I called into the location to inquire about what occurred and was promptly told that it was basically my wife's fault. I listed the issues: 1. She was checked in wrong. 2. No one bothered to review or ask her name. 3. The massage "therapist" that was supposed to work on her literally lied to her face and then left while leaving her stranded in the waiting room. She left in tears not understanding what the hell happened. The "customer service" person double downed on blaming my wife for the situation. Needless to say, Massage Envy could give us a lifetime of free massages and we would NEVER walk into another location ever again. You would think after the Pandemic that customer service would be a priority, but not to Massage envy. RUN AT ALL COST AND NEVER GO THERE AGAIN. PERIOD! read more

I went into the salon to buy a gift card for Christmas and purchased one, the front desk attendant said that their printer wasn't working and could not provide me a receipt. I thought about this for a minute and decided that I did not want the gift card and to please refund my money. They said that they were already submitted to my debit card I would have to file a refund and of course their printer wasn't working and I could not get a receipt of that. After Christmas I decided to file a complaint with my bank and my bank has since credit my account. I will never do business with massage envy in Chandler Boulevard in Chandler Arizona. Massage envy was not helpful at all and trying to even assure me that I would be refunded by them and made no attempt to correct this problem. read more

The massage itself was fantastic. Laura was my MT and she was very kind and paid attention to make sure I was comfortable. The blonde receptionist at the front desk was also great. From calling to make the appointment to welcoming me in, she was super kind and made me feel welcome! The two stars off are unfortunately why I won't be coming back. The girl that did the pre-massage consultation + post massage wrap-up was way too salesy. Immediately after a relaxing massage the last thing I want is someone trying to force me to buy a membership. Mind you, my massage was a gift. When I said 'no thanks' the first time, she asked why. I explained I just moved here, it's the holidays and I just can't commit to it right now. It was a great deal but not something I can do at this time. Her attitude changed with me. After I used my gift card + left my tip for Laura, the last thing she said to me before walking out the door wasn't "have a great day" or "thanks for coming" but "and next time you come you'll be paying the NON-MEMBERS rate". Yes honey, I know. Thanks. I understand it's a business but no need to be so pushy after someone is there for relaxing. i have degenerative disc disease and have a back fusion. i have gone to this massage envy for at least 15 years. i need massages regularly to maintain flexibility and reduce knots. i have always been pleased with the care i get here. therapists do come and go, but i do have two great guys who give a fabulous deep massage. i would not be able to enjoy life as much without their help . they have been there a long time and have a loyal following. if you can't see Jeff F or Darrin ask the front desk who those therapists refer to and you will be happy read more
