Looked for this little gem in a small strip mall, when a co worker brought in a raisin cake (more like butter bundt - large $6, small $4), but very good. Slightly crunchy outside and moist inside. Better yet near my work. I discovered they sell lulas and other combos range from $5 and up. Perfect ..place to have meal and decadent desserts...Nutella filled pastries to say the least. I ordered the #1 beef/chicken combo, 9.99 - good for 2, Nutella Napoleon and nutella ponchik. I will definitely come back to try the many variety of items. We order take-out from Masis Bakery all the time. The food is great. Our favorites are beef kabob, beef luleh kabob, and chicken luleh kabob. I typically order about 2 pounds of each (so total 6 pounds) and it's plenty of food for more than 6 people. I also really love their ikrah salad. The only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars is because sometimes the meat is burned on the outside. We like to tell them to cook it medium/well. Their dessert selection is also wonderful, always fresh and super delicious. I love their selection of mini tarts. Incredibly rude service. We chose to sit inside because there were homeless people right outside in the patio and one was talking crazy on our way in. The table and chairs we sat at inside was filthy--I had to wipe my seat with a napkin just to sit and noticed that even the napkin holder was covered in filth. Gross. The food is the saving grace here I'm sure. We weren't huge fans of what we ordered because it wasn't what we were expecting, but still good. They have some pictures of food on the wall like a menu but then as we were leaving we saw an actually breakfast/brunch menu that would have been nice to know about since it was 9:30am on a Saturday and what we were actually looking for. Very disappointing experience, especially since the one in Burbank on Alameda is so nice. They don't serve food though their bakery skills blow this place out of the water for sure!!! read more

Like many people have already said, their fruit tarts, cookies and cakes are delicious. I have been coming to Masis Bakery for over 15 years. I used to go to the one in Glendale with my parents and I started going to this one when I moved nearby 4 years ago. I'm afraid though they are going to lose a long time loyal customer if they do not improve on their customer relations. I read a review from 2014 that said the customer service was friendly and welcoming. This was true for 2014, I remember this too. But about 6 months ago I noticed a new face in front. This same woman has been here each time that I've come since. She doesn't say hello, she just coldly says what do you want and gets attitude if you have too many questions or take too long to order. She doesn't tell you the total and just grabs your money never saying thank you or have a nice day. Today she tried to sell me a cake that she wasn't even sure if it was chocolate or mocha . I asked her if she could possibly ask the baker and she just said well I'm pretty sure it's one of those. Really lady? Im not going to buy a cake and let it be a surprise, especially when I don't like mocha. So in summary, the bake goods are delicious, but I'd rather give my money to a bakery that's more appreciative of their customers than to someone so rude. It's a shame because I was planning on using them for an upcoming event and now I'm going to have to hunt for a new bakery. read more

Stopped by today to try a dish recommended by a friend. It was as good as described but I'd like to go into how beautiful the dessert case is. I couldn't resist picking out the Florentine which was a fruit and glaze topped strawberry creme thing of magic placed just so in a bowl made from chocolate, sesame seeds, and honey (it was crunchy). It was like two desserts in one, I ended up taking the cup home to smash into bits and crumble onto ice cream. Seating is limited, so I saw a lot of people getting to-go items, so maybe call ahead and come by for your order. They have a little of everything, including a meat case with cooked and uncooked seasoned meats to make something of your own and refrigerated cases with ready to go items they make. For those of you who like tarts, but can't finish a full one, they have a nice collection of mini tarts too which is a great size for small kids. I honestly love the pastries and food! but the customer is horrible. everyone always has an attitude, especially the girl with the long dark hair and blue/green eyes. me and my husband went in one night for pastries and the Armenian man let us go in front of him because he wasn't sure what he wanted yet. and the girl said NO NO YOU WETE FIRST THEY ARENT CUTTING BEFORE U. and then continued talking crap in Armenian. we walked out. They favor their fellow armenian culture over any other race. will not be going back, change the people in the front counter!! read more

This is my favorite place to get armenian food because it's delicious and they have ma y options to choose from. When I gather with my family and we can't decide what to get we order it from here. And the best part is they have deserts also and its delicious so i get both here. I love getting the plates and by now I have pretty much tried the food part everything they have and everything is delicious. The prices are affordable. The staff is very nice and friendly and helpful with any questions. The deserts are bomb along with the cake. I have started over time to get my cakes from here if I dont have time to go to portos. The food and pastries are really good, the prices are great, and the older lady there is wonderful. BUT, the two younger girl cashiers have the worst customer service around. Twice I've called in an order, they've told it would be ready in 30 minutes while talking to someone else at the same time. Then I show up to have them tell me they don't have any order for me. And instead of being apologetic, they just stare at me rudely like it's my problem...all again while talking to someone behind me at the same time. Like, do I even exist? Am I alive? Or am I a ghost like Bruce Willis in The Sixth Sense? Then one other time, I called to put in an order, the girl put me on hold while she she talked and laughed with someone next to her. I got in my car, drove 20 minutes, and got to the store all while still on hold. I finally get to the counter with my phone in my hand. She then tells me (in person) to wait while she takes a phone order...then finally picks up her phone again to take my call. All while I was standing in front of her. I used to love this place. I used to go to it all the time. And I used to love supporting this small, mom and pop Armenian bakery. But the frustration of having to deal with those two young ladies is enough for me to go somewhere else for my dinners and desserts. I come here about once a week now to get some of their bbq menu stuff and also get some of the bakeries while at it and I'm pretty happy with the quality of the food. I had a cake made for my sons 1st birthday. I gave the bakery the exact picture of what I wanted. They gave me a price and it was agreed upon. When I picked up the cake. The bakery jacked the price up stating we were under charged. The cake comes out and it looked nothing like the picture. 1 it was suppose to be all fondant, it cane out with butter cream to cut costs. The decorations that were on it looked as though an amature worked on it. The flavoring was just ok and nothing to remember. The young lady working there wasbpleasant, but thhe manager was so rude. I tried this place because its close to my moms house and my mom also recommended it! She has tried their pastries and liked them allot, so I said better then driving to Porto's, I'll give it a shot! These cupcakes must of been sitting out all weekend!!! I mean, even kids aren't picky when it come to sweets but NONE of them ate the cupcakes only licked the frosting off!!! I was in shock! Seriously Massis why don't you have any fresh bread on a Sunday/Saturday morning knowing all too well that you're in a neighborhood where there are a lot of Armenians who make breakfast at home and want fresh baked barbari bread. It's not the first time either. It's not that costly to make bread. When I asked the lady at the counter why they don't have bread her response was that it doesn't sell when we make it and when we don't people ask for it. So make it and if people don't buy it then donate it to the homeless guys across from your business on sunland who will have no problem eating a day old bread. That's the risk we all take when we go into business. You keep your customers happy by always being well stocked you won't go out of business! But if you're saving pennies by not having bread it's going to cost you more down the line. Another thing, clean up your store. It's dusty and disorganized. Thanks read more

I had a good experience here despite the bad reviews. Glad I did not read them beforehand since I was hungry. I ordered the salmon and it tasted fresh. Best tasting salmon I have had at almost any place including the chain restaurants where it taste dry, old or just strange. Don't know if I was just lucky this time but I'll try them again and see if it stays as good as it was. Hope so, because I'd like to come back for that salmon. The staff was NOT very friendly and seem pretentious. Also, it is waaaay over priced! $14 for a small container of borscht, a package of walnut cookies and a box of coffee joy biscuits???
