Masis is amazing. I've lived across the street from them for almost a year and it is by far the best bakery I've been to, and a gem for the area it is in. I always come here for their hot plates. Their chicken breast kabob is great... And the price you can't beat. The pastries are excellent too. We got my cousin's 1st birthday cake here and it came out adorable. I'm a fan... The food is great! Not only their traditional Armenian meats, bbqs, salads, but also their sweets. I've walked in here various times to get quick deserts ... In n out. During those times, the service has been Mediocre and didn't make me feel like I was in a friendly environment, since the older employees seem very judgmental. However, I decided to order some kebab bbq catering a few times, and once came in with my wife and child. A few of the employees went out of their ways to help us decide on some choices, and even down-sold a few things they thought weren't worth us spending the money on. One of them specifically admired my fam and upon checkout of our catering order, my wife wanted to have lunch there as well. They gave us a complimentary lunch and coffee without charging us a dim. Super nice of them! Although I did make a large catering order, they didn't have to treat myself and my wife and child to that. Totally genuine. I would recommend this place. But If it feels like bad service, give it another shot and/or have some lunch there to digest their hospitality. read more

I love their kabob meals here! They always cook them fresh once you order. I usually order their $4.99 chicken or beef louleh plates that comes with a good amount of rice and vegetables. I love their Beef Piroshkis also, they're so cheap for $0.85 and yummy. Their desserts are all delicious as well. I love ordering and trying out all of their food, I've never been disappointed with anything. I've never ate and loved so much Armenian food until I came across this place. :) read more

Horrible!! Recently I stopped by to get a dozen ponchik (doughnut filled with custard) to take to my friends house. My friends mom tried one and was disgusted because the ponchik was old and there was hair in it. I wish i took a pic of it to share but she threw the entire box out. I was so embarrassed. Food alone would be 4 to 4.5 depending on the day but each time i order either in person or on the phone the person taking my order has been rude. I'm the type of person if I don't have anything nice to say I usually don't say anything at all... however, in this case.... My family orders from here and said I should try it. First time I ordered there and it was good I liked it, good price everything taste fresh. I didn't eat there it looked a little cluttered and dirty. Yesterday, I came to visit my family and I placed a phone order. I swear you'd think I spoke to her in jibberish because my whole order was wrong and one order wasn't in my bag. I couldn't eat my sandwich because the bread was so hard I felt like I was biting into a rock. I specified several times that I wanted the softer bread. I called when I got home they wanted me to take it back I couldn't because I don't live in the area. She was so nice and said they'd give me the right order next time I go in she apologized and I thought ok I understand people make mistakes.... Boy was I wrong!!!! I called back today and that went all out the door. I called and they said there was nothing they could do. They couldn't loose money, no one would ever say that. Customer service is horrible in this place and make sure you check your food before you leave because they will cheat you! read more

It was not a pleasant experience. The beef and chicken kabob was to dry. The rice needs works. The workers have a different attitude every other day. I think if they step up the quality of food and service they may survive, but honestly it's a fast food bakery with kabob. read more

I really wanted to love this place because it's so close to home. But I walked in there and it was just empty. 5 stars for customer service, but I didn't go there for a smile, I went there for a cake, and a cake is what they didn't really have. I looked around at my 3 options and picked some ehhhh looking cake. Maybe I went on a bad day, because they were also low on "number candles" they were missing the #2 and #0... UNfortunately I was buying a cake for a 20 year old. I'll be going again, and will update my review. We'll see if Masis will live up to its mountainous name (Armenian allusion). read more

If you're looking for a pastry shop and cafe and bakery for reasonable prices and amazing food, you need to stop by at Masis Bakery. I have tried their Sun Valley location which offers fresh kabob plates (which are the juiciest kabobs I have ever tasted), as well as cakes and pastries and other delicious treats. Their Burbank location specializes mostly on sweets as well but with their authentic Belgian Maison Du chocolate de Ange, they can cater to any event and will ensure you have something to take to your next event! All in all, I have never been displeased. The cashiers are very sweet girls who always help me out, and it seems like they are always updating their menu and introducing something sweet to the public. Absolutely delicious food! read more

I needed a birthday cake for a party with just an hour notice. The bakery was close by and I liked the reviews. When I got to the bakery I was met at the counter by another customer. He said he had tried many different items and they were all good. It is interesting how you can look at the pastry and cakes in the display and see different textures in each item. There were 20 different cakes on display. Each one a different flavor. I picked the strawberry shortcake cake. It was big and bright white with red accent frosting. Really beautiful. The cake was delicious. Frosting was light and sweet enough that the kids at it all but the adults liked it very much also. Brought the last 3 pieces to the office to share with staff. The cake served about 20 people for $26.00 Fresh strawberries inside the cake were fresh and firm not soggy. Since i was under a tight schedule i was expecting much less of a satisfacyion level. The food is five star. Who but the service is 0 stars. They are just so rude. It seems as though they do not like people who are not of their kind. It seems to me that they are nice to Armenian or other Middle Eastern people but very rude to everyone who is not. One of the older ladies behind the counter is just plain rude. She looks at you would be the dead eyes. It's like I'm bothering her something. If you don't like people who are not like you and then opening a business is probably not a good idea. This place deserves no stars! Terrible cake and customer service! I ordered a cake for my daughter's birthday party. When my husband went to pick it up he noticed the photo on top was off center as well as the writing and Birthday was spelled wrong!! There was also a huge air bubble under the fondant. He asked them to at least fix the misspelling and they wouldn't do it. They wouldn't do anything about it, wouldn't take the cake back or give us a discount. They did nothing to correct the situation. Helen the cashier was very rude and argumentative. The manager Hovik is a total POS. He did nothing about it and said he wasn't in the mood to deal with us. I can't believe they couldn't at least fix the word Birthday! I paid $70 for a cake that ruined my daughter's party and was embarrassing. No one wanted to eat it after I cut one slice and it was extremely dry on the inside so I ended up throwing it all away. Don't buy cakes at this sorry excuse for a bakery!!! read more

Their pastries aren't bad - your usual Armenian/Middle Eastern puff pastries and cakes that are slightly on the dry side. However, their cooked to order kebab is impressive!! You get a place with bed of rice, grilled peppers and tomatoes, 2 pieces of beef luleh with some hummus on the side for less than $8! Good quality too. I ordered a cake from Masis bakery 1 month before my son's camp themed first birthday party. It was a cute but simple design that I didn't think anyone could mess up. Boy was I wrong. My husband picked up the cake and I was speechless when he got home at how horrible of a job they did. The fondant letters and designs were lopsided and uneven. The colors were wrong. If it was a complicated design i would've let it pass but i just wanted my son's name on top, a teepee in the middle, and little triangles on the bottom layer. I am surprised because they have done a good job in the past (my sisters order their cakes from here). We called to complain and spoke with the owner. He said what they made was very precise and only the color was wrong. He said he would give us 10% off on our next order because of the "minor" mistake. I uploaded the picture. You be the judge. P.S. I got placed on hole for 30 min wow I could hear her taking other peoples order over and over again she forgot about me so I hung up and called back she put me on hold again another 20 minutes so now total almost 1 hour now I called back again now she says OK what does not even respond nicely after having me wait for so long and she gets mad because I told her you had me hold for almost one hour I'm taking my busses to zest house at least I don't have to worry about moldy pastries may god grant me peace to not curse them read more

Origional: I usually have great customer service from the morning ladies. The nicest and best customer service woman should get more pay and should train the others on customer service. However, this last time I visited the bakery this afternoon, the young lady with the long white nails touched my food with her bare hands. The thing even had paper wrapping, and she STILL grabbed it with her bare hands. Some of the staff need food handling training and annual training. read more

Where do I begin??? I asked the workers to slice 1 pound of basturma for me.... i hear them whispering to one another "tell her the opened one is the only we slice so it can finish" the cashier comes and gives me the message. I said no theres different kinds I want this specific one sliced up. She laughs at me takes it and comes back.... i simply ask, o you guys dont like cutting the meat or what? And she replies... no as little kids we dreamed of the day where we would grow up and slice basturma for others.... i tell her she needs to change her attitude and she goes off on me. I am disgusted of the customer service. There isnt even a manager on staff for you to complain to... needless to say, I will not be going back! read more

I ordered take out at 6:40pm and was told it would be 20 mins. for my order to be ready, I arrived around 7pm I paid my order and some pastries and I was told to wait a few more minutes. 15-20 mins had passed and still no food. The girl at the counter was dealing with an annoying customer asking 1000 questions and wanting to try the pastries, I believe that the customer got her frustrated because when I asked about my food she literally said "what food?" with an attitude . I then show her my receipt that I had paid for two plates of food and was still currently waiting on, I explained to her I had placed the order by phone to avoid waiting so long and it had been 50 minutes since I had placed my order. She's trying to ask another worker about my food and the lady replied "I don't know" ....she has me wait 8 mins, then She goes to the back comes back and tells me sorry they dropped your food , it's gonna be another 10mins. I understand Mistakes happen but it was the way they handled the situation that had me really frustrated (mind you other customers arriving after me were getting their food before me!! ) Ive been working in the restaurant business for over 10 years and the customer service that they had was definitely unacceptable. I ran out of patience and asked if they can please give me back my money another lady decides to step in and tells me to just wait a few more minutes my food was coming. Which I replied no thank you I want my money back and she decides to tell me "it's your loss your food is almost ready" . As I am trying to argue for my money back my food finally comes out, so I asked for them to comp one of my plates, which they did, but that still didn't fix their horrible customer service. It's very sad to see that places that have very good food loose customers over their customer service. Oh yeah btw when I got home I realized that they hadn't given me my hummus. At first glance it looks like a plain bakery. I was surprised that they actually serve food here. We always order their beef Lula kabob. It comes with rice, pepper and tomato and a small side of onions. The serving is pretty decent most of the time. Today though the serving seems to be on the smaller side. It's so inconsistent!! The food is okay. It's not the best quality meat but you can't beat the price at $4.99. I just don't like the ladies that work there. They are rude!! A few times that we came in, they didn't acknowledge us upon entering. They continued talking in their language (armenian) doing what theyre doing like we didn't exist. At least havr the decency to tell us that they will be helping us in awhile. I also wish that they'd serve garlic sauce. This is one of those places that comes to mind when we do not feel like driving far....I would still choose Cafe Bravo if it's closer read more

5 stars for the honey cake. The space is weird -- is it a bakery or a restaurant or a grocery? There will be cheesy music videos loudly playing on the TV in the middle of the store. There will be terribly-decorated birthday cakes in the fridge. And from what I gather based on the other reviews, you should stay away from the western-style baked goods. (This should be a rule you follow anyway. I am not a fan of Middle Eastern/Eastern European desserts in general. Plus they have crap tastes in chocolate.) However, one of my friends brought this honey cake to my dinner party and then one day I found myself driving to Sun Valley to buy a tray of it for a party, too. The one from Lilit Bakery is not as good! You have to come here for it! read more

Masis Bakery, literally the only Armenian bakery/restaurant over here in my neck of the woods. The prices are amazing, for under 6-7 bucks you can get a lule kabob plate with a bottled drink. The quality of the ingredients are up to par, the meat is clean, they give you a nice helping of rice alongside the tomatoe and pepper and it's always fresh. Who can disagree that this is so much better than fast food and even better priced. I love this place, my mom sometimes on a busy day, will go down there and buy a couple pounds of already marinated ground beef and make that with rice in all of five minutes! And before I check out, let's not forget the pastries... they are always delicious, decently priced, and great for any occasion or even just as desert after your kabob plate. They also carry allot of import pastries including Bindi brand boxed cakes. Mmmmmmmmm! Enjoy! read more
