I've been here twice and ordered takeout once, and have yet to find something I don't like. Ma's kitchen next door has a seating format that's a bit more family/group gathering friendly than Ma's kitchen dim sum & bar. Service is always friendly and prompt, and you can order off of both menus regardless of which restaurant you're in. Some of our favorites include the clay pot eggplant, the XO sauce green beans, the Sichuan boiled fish and the black pepper short ribs. Don't sleep on their dim sum offerings, and we also love their soup dumplings (truly some of the best I've had in Denver/Aurora), their pan fried steamed bun and their chili oil dumplings. Whenever we go, it's always a dilemma of not over-ordering, but that's a very small problem to have. Def worth checking out! We were so excited to try this place after reading all the positive reviews. Unfortunately, we were unimpressed. The food wasn't bad, but there are more flavorful dumplings elsewhere in the city. The pepper beef was okay, but came with the smallest serving of rice I've ever gotten from a takeaway. The scallion pancakes are perfectly crispy, but would benefit from a dipping sauce. We also got coconut buns and the coconut rice pudding. I loved that the latter looks like a little bunny! So cute. It wasn't for us though. It mainly tasted of coconut and cream. A bit bland. Yelp and Google have two different names for this restaurant, so don't get confused. They do have a parking lot, but it's very small. It's downtown, so be prepared to street park. Not a super big restaurant so it does get very busy in there. Shrimp, pork & scallop dumplings (6pc) - freshly made and you can taste the quality. Juicy inside and make sure you eat this before it gets cold. Xiao Long Bao/Soup Dumplings (6pc) - Hot and savory broth inside. Skin isn't super thick so that's always a plus. Probably one of the best one I had in Denver. Clay Pot Eggplant - Well flavor with strong garlic taste. I do have to say, the skin was a little hard so they might have fried it a little too long but the flavor was still there. Beef Short Ribs in Black Pepper - Has a strong and bold black pepper flavor, it's still a tender beef, but it was slightly too oily. YUM!!!! Dim sum fanatic here letting you know this place rocks! The waitstaff was smiling and available. The food was fantastic and fresh! The dumplings rivaled what I have eaten in cornerstones of Manhattan dim sum delight! The only thing that didn't make it to us that we ordered was the wood ear mushrooms so we cancelled them because we were full, but I want them next time. We had the shrimp dumplings, shrimp and spinach dumplings, chicken and scallion dumplings and spring rolls and all were wonderful, hot, and flavorful. The space is well decorated and attractive, and it is also very small! We ended up sharing a 6 top with two other random women, which was fine because we are nice and they were too. We had a little space between us. It gets packed around 6:30-7:30pm. I like having chili sauce on the table for topping my dumplings! The price was very reasonable and we left stuffed and happy. Finally made it. After tears from losing Pinche tacos, I am all right now because of Ma's Kitchen taking control. The space is small, but it is well utilized with individual tables and keeping with the old layout; they have a community table in the center. Where in the past you were able to see the kitchen, it is now concealed behind some doors. I started off the meal with a Thai tea, which I had never had before, and was pleasantly surprised. We opted for the pork spring rolls, which were delightfully crispy with a very light wrapper that was brittle and delicious. Along with the spring rolls, we got the Whittier salad and a hot and sour soup. The hot and sour was right on point and the Woodyear mushroom salad was fantastic. We then had the shrimp, pork and scallop dumplings which were steamed to a buttery softness. Each table has on their table, a condiment station that consist of sweet-and-sour, soy and chili crunch. From what I could tell most of the items that are ordered for the kitchen do not come out with a sauce. This is where the condiments on the table come to play. To finish our meal we ordered the Cantonese daikon rice cake with Chinese sausage and dried shrimp. This had an interesting texture; the outside was crispy and the center was a little creamy. Whaaaaat... another dumpling place? YAAASS, please! I came here on Wednesday and it was busy, but we luckily snagged one of the last tables. The menu is simple and full of hidden gems. We ordered the shrimp/scallop dumplings and pork dumplings, both were delicious. The soup dumplings were also really good, though I think they'd be even better if they offered bigger soup spoons that actually fit the dumplings. The space is beautifully decorated. We came here to have some dim sum and bao buns and were definitely not disappointed! The food was delicious. We got a bao sampler and a dim sum sampler as well as some edamame, eggplant, coffee crusted lamb ribs and shishito peppers. Everything was delicious but the lamb was the real highlight. Definitely a decent place for a bite to eat! Parking is tricky in the area but once you're inside the restaurant the restaurant is cozy and welcoming. Their chili oil sauce is really good. Even though I miss the previous restaurant at this location, I am more than happy Ma's Kitchen is here now! It is cozy, casual and comforting the moment you walk in. We wanted to try everything on the menu! The seaweed salad, wood ear mushroom salad and chilled bitter melon were great starters. Especially the wood ear mushroom salad, I could have eaten all of it. Although the bitter melon was bitter, the sweet syrup that comes with it really helps cuts the bitterness and we enjoyed the new experience. The spicy xo xiao long buns (soup dumplings), vegetable, and shrimp, pork and scallop dumplings were delicious. The signature steamed pork buns, BBQ buns, and vegetable buns were fresh, soft, and much bigger than we expected. The fried sesame balls are classic and always a sweet treat. Service was so friendly and really quick and attentive. Prices are fair for the quality, making it a great option for a casual meal when you are craving dumplings or classic dim sum without heading to a larger, more traditional spot. I went on a weekday evening and there was a line out the door, and I can totally see why--the food is incredible. The menu is packed with standout dishes, but you absolutely have to try the Xiao Long Bao, Garlic Spare Ribs, Spicy Wontons in Chili Oil, Beef Short Ribs in Black Pepper Sauce, BBQ Buns, and Beef Stir-Fried Noodles with Chili Pepper. Checked out Ma's Kitchen for Sunday dim sum. We arrived about 12:15 pm and the place was packed; fortunately, our wait wasn't too long and the weather outside was quite accommodating in the interim. My group of three ordered a variety of items, though admittedly I would've liked to sample a wider variety. (We had some dietary preferences that took shrimp off the table.) That said, even though we were pretty pork focused, I was quite impressed with how much the flavor differences of each item shone through; a nice degree of nuance, and the steamed items were tender perfection. The signature pork buns were tasty, and the filing had more umami than your standard char siu filling. The soup dumplings were plump, and some of the best I've had in recent memory. (A lot of places attempt these and then the soup has escaped the dumpling before you can get it to your mouth.). The veggie eggrolls, while straight forward, were perfectly golden and a great excuse to use the excellent sweet and sour sauce on the table (kicky and not too sweet). The sesame balls were stuffed with red bean and good as well. The stirfried daikon cakes with xo sauce seemed to have been forgotten in our original order, but when that was rectified we enjoyed them. This preparation was a little different than I had anticipated. I'm a sucker for good eggplant, but with that disclaimer, the claypot eggplant was certainly fun (sizzle!) and delicious. All in all, everything was great and sharing amongst three of us made everything neatly divisible. It does seem that the size of some items (the bao and sesame balls in particular) are smaller than what you might expect from typical dim sum restaurants. I think this allowed for more sampling, but you'll want to account for that when ordering. I do think there is some room for improvement when it comes to service. Our server was very attentive with the water, but once items arrived, we were sort of left to our own devices. We wanted to order some additional items and note the missing daikon cakes, but it took awhile to get assistance and ultimately we dropped the extra items given that. The first round of seating after opening looked to turn over quickly, but as we were finishing, things slowed down and some uncleared tables lingered. I did notice that they have a computer kiosk to place takeaway orders now, and I think this may inspire me to do some grab and go here and eat in a more chill environment when not with friends. I think they've done a nice job of converting over the space, but even when Tacos Tequila & Whiskey was here the din could be a bit intense. All in all, off to a great start, and happy to have Ma's Kitchen Dim Sum & Noodles in the neighborhood! read more

Had heard through the grapevine that Ma's Kitchen was pretty tasty, so made it out there with a friend for dinner. They have a small side parking lot which was helpful given all the construction around the area. We were able to get seated and served pretty quickly. They had a decently large menu of items from dim sum to clay pot dishes and appetizers. We ordered the clay pot eggplant, black pepper ribs, and shrimp dumplings. Everything was super fresh and delicious; I especially loved their clay pot eggplant and ribs. The eggplant in particular was the most authentic tasting Chinese eggplant dish I've found in Colorado to date - definitely a must try. And everything we ordered in general was super tasty; the chefs seem to be Chinese as well which lends to the credibility. Overall super happy with this find and will be coming back! read more

We tried our luck at a table for 3 on a Friday at 6pm. The small space (used to be Tacos Tequila Whiskey) was packed, but we learned the larger, Colfax corner spot was also a Ma's Kitchen, and we got right in! The corner spot was a more upscale/intimate vibe with more cocktail options. We had three awesome cocktails between us - highly recommend the cocktails! We ordered the Dim Sum sampler. It was good, but our waitress couldn't tell us what each dumpling was, so it was a roulette sort of dining experience. Several tasted pretty similar (kind of bland), but we had chili oil to fix that. We also shared the short rib noodles. They were very tasty, but I was surprised the prominent flavor was black pepper. Also, is it normal for a short rib noodles dish to have so many bones? That was also a surprise. The best dish for sure were the green beans! So flavorful and somehow so crunchy! Pros: Standard dim sim which would address any basic dimensions sum craving. Good addition to the neighborhood. Cons: I think after eating inside, I'd prefer to grab and go (takeway) if I were to eat here in the future. I didn't love the cleanliness of the place (the table next to us remained un-bussed for quite a while). The eggs rolls and some of the other dishes tasted as if they were previously frozen. Pretty good for a grab and go to satisfy a dumpling or noodle craving, but I wouldn't recommend this for date night. read more

Great location! Love we can walk here for late lunch/early dinner. Small charming little Dim Sum/dumpling option, not even a month old. Staff was very warm, friendly and hustling to make all diners comfortable. We ordered the Scalia noodles, which were basic and delicious, I was hoping we would have leftovers because they would be great as a cold snack the next day. We got the sampler platter with a couple of bites of favorites. The bun was my favorite on there and it was very good. The texture of the bun was on point. Also tried spicy soup which weren't very spicy and meh on flavor. The pan fried pork dumplings were also very good. This is a solid little joint and we will go back to try the menu! read more

Didn't love the szechuan chicken since it's a cold dish and I didn't know that going in so that's more of a personal preference, the flavors were great though! Shrimp and spinach dumplings were fire as was the red bean bun. We waited a while to get seated on a Saturday night but once we did, the service was quick and we got our food quickly. This new dim sum and noodle house might just become a neighborhood favorite! Go in with no expectations, or at least try not to compare to other places because every Chef is influenced by different things and that's what makes dim sum so special no two places are the same!! They are only in their soft opening now, but if this is any indication of what is to come, East Colfax, South city Park, is in for a real treat! Handmade dumplings and buns, delicious dim sum, and that relaxed sort of neighborhood spot vibe! As for the food, here's what we ordered : Braised spareribs, might be the best I've had in years! (if you love the ribs at daughter thai- you will love these!) Shrimp and spinach dumplings, flawless! Huge bite of shrimp, perfectly cooked inside and out! No notes! Black pepper beef buns, never had anything like this at any other dim sum place. They are so good and super peppery! The dough is perfectly soft and fluffy! BBQ buns... Most places use a pre-made frozen version, yes even the popular places. But Ma's actually makes their dough and filling in house. And they are so delicious! Highly recommend dunking in their homemade XO sauce with soy sauce and a little bit of the sweet and sour Szechuan chicken in chili oil - this one surprised me because it's a cold dish, but the chicken is cooked perfectly. It's spicy and refreshing. Definitely nothing I've ever tried before. Coconut buns - these are more of a dessert bun. There's this coconut paste inside, that's not overly sweet, somewhat similar mouth texture as red bean paste, but totally different flavor. The buns are light and fluffy. It's a perfect end to the meal. The lychee martini, (not pictured) might be one of the best I've had in a long time! read more

5/5 stars review-adjusted for Denver cuisine. Would be 4/5 for Austin food standards. I overall really like what they are trying with this restaurant! There's definitely some authentic flare to it, but also some areas Americanized to fit wider tastes. Braised Short Ribs 4/5 - the ribs were well-cooked, the meat came off the bones easily with a slight tug of my chopsticks. The glaze was a bit overpowering and made the dish a little too sweet. I dipped mine in chili oil to counter a bit of that. Canto Daikon Cake 5/5 - this is a very nostalgic dim sum dish for me and I will usually order this and not understand why I like it. But I actually loved the way they prepared this with smaller strips, so you really got a good crunch with each bite and it never got soggy. Shrimp Dumplings 5/5? - to be honest this always tastes good no matter where I get it from. I don't know what bad shrimp dumpling would be (like maybe if it came out cold). Spicy Soup Dumplings 4/5 - they looked a little deflated when they came out and I was halfly right. Half of them had popped already, with some soup still remaining. The other half were still juicy inside. I'm not sure where the spicy part came in, it wasn't really spicy at all but I dipped it in soy sauce and chili oil. I think this dim sum spot is worth a try for sure! It's not like a traditional dim sum with a ton of cheaper menu items (no chicken feet on the menu), but there is some authenticity and some fusion elements here. read more

Have lunch at Ma's Kitchen. We ordered plum sauce radish strip, braised beef noodles, egg plant clay pot 魚香茄子 (come with a small bowl of rice), shrimp dumplings 蝦餃，shrimp fried rice, and Thai tea. They were all pretty tasty. Egg plant clay pot is vegetarian so it hasn't salty fish as traditional way, but still good. The braised beef was very tender and the noodles were so nice. Remember to try their xo sauce. It was perfect with the fried rice. The down side was quite difficult to find parking. Very few next to the restaurant. Went to try out the newly opened Ma's Kitchen Dim Sum & Noodles on Colfax. The restaurant was in an old building, not far from the hospitals and high school in this area. There's a shared parking lot with a few other restaurants nearby. While the spots aren't plentiful, it's better than nothing, and street parking was readily available nearby. The restaurant featured a red color scheme--walls and chairs are all red, giving it a distinctly Chinese feel. Ordered the braised beef noodle soup, clay pot eggplant, and Singaporean butter prawns, Xiao Long Bao, coconut buns, braised pork ribs, shu mai, shrimp and spinach dumplings, wood ear mushroom salad, dim sum combination with shrimp dumplings, shu mai, steamed pork buns, pork and mushroom dumplings, and veggie egg rolls, coconut milk pudding and osmanthus coconut jelly. The beef noodle soup had a clear and light colored broth and the beef was tender and juicy. Xiao Long Bao was filled with broth and unami filling, and the skin was thin and chewy. The eggplant carried the aromatic rich taste of clay pot cooking; the butter prawns featured large prawns coated in egg batter and were crispy from head to tail. The pork ribs were quite eye-catching and a flavor reminiscent of honey-glazed ribs. Heard all dim sum items were handmade, on par with other dim sum places in town. Both the coconut pudding and osmanthus coconut jelly were smooth, lightly sweet, and refreshing.
