Fantastic lunch specials, even on Saturdays! Tawan Asian Cafe recently remodeled the space and opened this restaurant on 44th. It is a great addition to the neighborhood. This is a nicely appointed restaurant with plenty of parking and plenty of indoor seating. I love that they have lunch specials on Saturdays. The Beef with Garlic Sauce was wonderful. The crab wontons were nice and crispy. And, there was plenty of egg fried rice to sop up all the garlic sauce. Their party trays look pretty stellar and are well priced. May be letting them do the cooking for the next party at the house!

I'm still so surprised that this place is not more popular. Every time I need an Asian fix I end up choosing Taiwan. We always greeted with a smile and end up leaving with a smile and so satisfied that it's not too greasy and no msg perfectly seasoned. We usually always get lettuce wraps to start and then stay if we can or get takeout. I love how quiet and peaceful it feels and the manifesting zen I get from the beautiful fish tank.

We came to Tawan tonight just to see the new restaurant as it formerly was Man Wah restaurant. The food was great! Super tasty, fresh and high quality. The wontons and egg rolls were piping hot and with the right amount of crunch to them. The broccoli and Beef was delicious and fresh. The sesame tofu came out like fluffy cubic, crunchy pillows that had a delicious sesame sauce. Service was nice with a very sweet and timely. Ambiance was fantastic as well! I regret to write about this because our seats were epic! There's a large fish tank with large South American Severum and an Arowana. Such beautiful and healthy looking fish. My family will definitely be back! Give good place a look!

One of the blandest Chinese meals ever. People were nice and on time. I would rate the spice level extra medium at best.

Not a fan of the Pho. Chicken had a weird texture. It has changed since we first started going there.

Service is always friendly and prompt, and you can order off of both menus regardless of which restaurant you're in. Some of our favorites include the clay pot eggplant, the XO sauce green beans, the Sichuan boiled fish and the black pepper short ribs. Don't sleep on their dim sum offerings, and we also love their soup dumplings (truly some of the best I've had in Denver/Aurora), their pan fried steamed bun and their chili oil dumplings. Whenever we go, it's always a dilemma of not over-ordering, but that's a very small problem to have. Def worth checking out! Their takeout is also very well-packaged and comes in an insulated bag.

The food wasn't bad, but there are more flavorful dumplings elsewhere in the city. The pepper beef was okay, but came with the smallest serving of rice I've ever gotten from a takeaway. The scallion pancakes are perfectly crispy, but would benefit from a dipping sauce. We also got coconut buns and the coconut rice pudding. I loved that the latter looks like a little bunny! So cute. It wasn't for us though. It mainly tasted of coconut and cream. A bit bland. We also weren't fans of the coconut buns. Maybe they're better hot?

Uncle is a small, Asian fusion shrine that one should place on your must visit list. In the Northwest area of Denver, Uncle has limited seating and a show if you sit at the bar. Reservations are strongly suggested and well worth the wait. Crazy combinations, flavor bombs throughout and a culinary delight you won't regret. Tonight, we sat at the bar and watched the magic happen. These guys are cranking out amazing and delectable treats you won't forget. The Uncle salad was a great starter with charred cabbage, lemongrass, mint, cilantro, arugula, and peanuts lightly coated in a Thai coconut dressing. A slight burn only leaving you to crave just one more bite, ha! The fried soft shell crab in a bao bun with green papayo slaw, coconut mayo and cilantro nam prik was sweet, perfect crunch and memorable. Two for two with one dish left. The cold spicy sesame noodles with seasoned chicken, granny Smith apple slivers, arugula, cashews and nanami togorashi, a perfect closing dish for an exceptional meal. The service, food quality, flavors and preformance from the bar seats were second to none. The concept, portion size, flavor and cost were a real treat in the big city food scene of Denver. If you haven't been here yet, get to the internet and book a table, I promise you won't regret it. To the staff, chefs, and all members of Uncle, thank you for a surprising and incredibly great meal, we will return on our future trips to Denver.

Our bellies were full, satisfied, and we couldn't have asked for a better dinner. Walked in for dinner around 7:30pm on a weeknight. It was decently busy. We waited at the hostess stand. We waited and waited. A server walked by without acknowledging us. Another person walked by without acknowledging us. And yet another person walked by and guess what...didn't acknowledge us. Do we smell bad? Is this normal service around here? Who ignores people inside a restaurant? Imagine if someone walked into your house and wasn't greeted. Wouldn't that be odd? Admittedly, this is such a pet peeve of mine and my tolerance for it is zero. And because of this, your mind starts to wander. Oh, is it because they got a nod from Michelin? Are we not cool enough to be here? Are they a pretentious restaurant? Is my money not good enough? To be honest, I'm surprised we didn't walk out. We waited five full minutes until one of the three aforementioned employees came up to us. So the vibes were off for the entire meal, but as someone who can take a step back, the food was freaking phenomenal. SHUI JIAO - BEIJING STYLE DUMPLINGS ($15) // pork & cabbage boiled dumplings, house dumpling sauce. Dumpling sauce was what I imagine crack would taste like. These were the perfect starter. KKANPUNGGI - KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN ($23) // fried chicken, spicy garlic gochujang sauce served with thai jasmine rice and chinese smashed cucumber salad. Crunchy and crispy on the outside, yet tender and juicy on the inside. This was better than some places that specialize in KFC. No notes! MI XAO TOI - VIETNAMESE GARLIC NOODLE ($23) // shrimp, egg noodles, broccoli, vietnamese garlic butter sauce. My wife's dish, I only took a bite. She loved it and did her happy dance the whole time. My only criticism was it didn't really taste like Asian food. To be honest, it kind of tasted like an Italian noodle dish I'd make at home. Either way, happy wife happy life. They add a 6% kitchen fee to every bill. So yeah, there's that. Will we come back? Yes, because the food is absolutely delicious. It kind of annoys me how good it is considering the poor service we received. I'm not one to completely trash a place, I can look past my own internal bias. But damnit, can y'all just be more hospitable next time?

The confirmation email stated that the order would be ready for pickup at 5:57 p.m. My husband and our 6-year-old son arrived at the restaurant at the scheduled pickup time, only to be told that the order would not be ready for another 10 minutes. Because our son was hungry and becoming upset, they decided to drive around while waiting. When they came back approximately 10 minutes later, they were told it would still be "a while" before the order was ready. They ultimately waited in the restaurant until the food was completed at 6:32 p.m.--35 minutes after the promised pickup time. As a result, our toddler ended up going to bed 30 minutes later than his normal bedtime. What has been even more disappointing than the delay itself is the lack of follow-up. Since the incident, I have contacted Teriyaki Madness 3 separate times seeking assistance. I received 2 responses from the Franchise Services Coordinator indicating that he would contact the Applewood store owner to review the situation and assist me. It has now been 10 days since my initial outreach, and despite multiple follow-ups, I have not received any communication from the Applewood store owner. Delays can happen, and I understand that restaurants get busy. However, the complete lack of response and customer service after the fact has been extremely frustrating and has left me feeling that our concerns simply do not matter. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this location.

Lately it feels like a lot of restaurants are charging more while giving less, and it's getting harder to find places that actually care about the customer experience. Unfortunately, this was another one of those experiences. We ordered three side dishes and three drinks, and the bill came out to around $100. Two of the three sides were served cold, the dumplings at least came out hot, but they were pretty mediocre and nothing I'd order again and drinks were extremely over priced. The waitress was fine, no real issues there, but it did feel like the food may have been sitting in the kitchen too long before it hit the table even though the place was empty. At the end of the day, it's hard to justify paying that kind of money for cold, underwhelming food, then feeling awkward about the tip because the experience just wasn't good. I won't be back. If I had known this is what the experience was I would have definitely gone somewhere else. As an added bonus I felt like crap afterwords, I think it was because of poor quality ingredients. My aim in writing these reviews is to highlight the restaurants and businesses that truly take care of their customers, to give people a heads up about the ones that clearly do not prioritize quality or the customer experience, and to express myself in a world where it often feels like there is very little room to speak honestly about paying top dollar for mediocre experiences. Very disappointing.
