We were passing through and looking for a good sandwich place and what we found here was exactly that. I got the chicken cutlet with sauce (chicken parm, essentially) and was impressed. Though the chicken seemed like it was bought from the frozen food section, the bread, sauce and cheese was enough to make this review five stars. The bread, especially, was the best part. I had forgotten how good this place was until I stopped here on Monday during lunch. Fresh sub rolls and quality meats and cheese for ridiculously low prices. Had prosciutto and provolone. So good. Usually only come here when the place up the street is closed. But with that being said, they're also more expensive than their competitor but have decent food. Customer service is good and they will make your food the way you like it. Same as the place up the street. All in all, good but not great. read more

Very disappointed today. I'm not sure if they are under new management but the service today was slow, the staff bordered on rude and the whole place felt different. The sandwich was good as always. This is more of a sandwich shop than a bakery. Their only sweets were rice pudding, bread pudding, chocolate chip cookies, and oatmeal cookies, I think it was. They had a sign that cannolis were new. Not what I was looking for. read more

I see lots of reviews on here about the food not being fresh and today I found out why. I called in an order yesterday Saturday for Sunday 3:00 pm pickup. But something came up and I had to cancel, so I called back today Sunday at 8:00 (as early as possible) to cancel my order. The "oh so rude" phone answerer looked my order and said "Sorry can't cancel it because it's already made". So I'm "Already Made", you just opened up so I know it wasn't made today so it must have been made yesterday and her answer was "I really don't know". I ended the call by saying "I don't care when it was made I don't want the order", she said "Fine" and hung up the phone. All I can say is WOW!!! read more

I love Marzillis food so much and I go there all the time! But, today I had an incredibly bad experience. I had ordered two subs over the phone around noon. The employee on the phone told me it'll be ready in 20 minutes. When I showed up the place was packed. There was no line for walk in orders but the line for phone orders was huge and winding but seemed pretty organized. However, a customer who was in line near the side of the registers demanded her food claiming she had called in 15 minutes ago when most of us had called in way longer than that. So the manager gave her the food and the line went back to normal. Until someone else decided they wanted to do the same thing. So now there are people getting their food in the MIDDLE of the line. After talking getting out of line to talk to the manager he told me that everyone has been waiting and that I should be patient. Clearly he had no idea the mess he was making and how many customers he was really ticking off. I'm trying not to make thing too long. It boiled down the the manager not being firm enough with staff and customers and not having control of any situation that was happening. I know many customers left there extremely irritated. read more

Looking for a place for lunch and found Marcuccis but they were closed so came here. Good prices, decent bread. Got roast beef with swiss. Was ok. Thinner more flavorful roast beef would have been better. Maybe an off day. Will try again read more

Used to be good but they have gotten my phone order wrong the last few times I have ordered. It's a bunch of kids working there now and they are all just lounging and messing around behind the counter. Today I went in to pick up 3 large Italian grinders. Got home and realized I had gotten 2 large Italians and 1 large egg plant and cheese. How does that get messed up? I ordered 3 of the same grinder! I had no time to go back to get the right one and I hate egg plant so I am down a sandwich for gathering I got them for. Plus, when I was in there the girl helping me wasn't paying me much attention, the 3 other employees were standing around chatting and laughing and the girl helping me was just complaining to them how "she better get out of here by 6." There is no place Marzilli's for grinders. Just meat, cheese and peppers. My mother in law brings them to our house in ct whenever she visits and we don't miss a chance to stop in when we are in town. No better beach or road food!! The bread is tbe key and the perfect amount of ingredients. We order them with the mixed peppers. Even Tommie DePaulo the children's author mentions them in one of his books. A classic. read more

Marzilli's is one of the best places to get a grinder, Everything is fresh from the bread to the meat. I did see a few complaints on here but they complained about things that were their own fault. If you don't order extras like lettuce and tomato, or mustard or mayo or heated, then don't expect them and I also doubt anyone has ever said they have great clam chowder. People shouldn't give a 1 star rating because of their lack of ordering common sense This isn't a pizza joint where grinders are heated to hide stale bread. Marzilli's gives you a good grinder at a good price even with extras. Read the menu and tell them what you want on it, always ask for your cheese on the bottom if your grinder is heated and you'll have a good sandwich. I know my Marcucci/Marzilli reviews are similar but so are the places and food. read more

Love this place! Been coming here most of my life. The service is great now that it appears to be under new management. They're very efficient, friendly and cater excellently to their customers. And let's not forget the food, it's outstanding! Their bread is something else, always freshly made every morning. The Italians are my favorite and the bakery pizza is delicious. Prices are very reasonable for the size you get, a large sub is almost 2 feet long and only cost around $10/$11. So, I recommend that if you're in the city stop by Marzillis, you won't be disappointed. read more

I love this place. They have great subs and have always been competitive with prices .however, their customer service has declined drastically. The past few times I've come here the cashiers have been so rude and snoody. They don't even pretend to care about service anymore. The last trip they were so busy and we were waiting forever, one of the workers yelled out 'no more orders!' Like, how about "So sorry about the wait, we're catching up, please no orders for a few minutes folks." No, they've just become incredibly rude. If their subs weren't so great I'd stop coming here all together. read more

I stopped in to get some pizza and bought a half tray and a large Italian sub. The pizza was ice cold and the dough was really tough. The sub was tasteless and the bread was so hard and also very cold. This was Saturday morning. It seems like they made all the bread the day before and froze it and didn't give it enough time to defrost. It was awful and if I didn't live so far I would have returned everything. I've been going there for years and the quality of their products are getting worse every year. I will be going to the bakery up the street.
