If you want CBD products, go elsewhere. I have been a Mary mart customer since their inception what, a decade ago? I only buy high CBD / low THC items. I have a few favorites, and the last couple of months at least- they have almost nothing. One recent trip, I was disappointed that they are again out- so I ask about the journeyman gummies I like. Yep, they have them. I specify to the bud tender- who I perceive is the manager-those are the high CBD ones, right? Yep. He says. NOPE. I get home, and that is not what I purchased. Today I go in and of course- no CBD. They are always pushing Pennywise hard. It's ok, but not really what I'm looking for. So I ask straight up again: "hey do you guys just not carry CBD anymore at all, or am I coming in on off days?" He says, "it's the market! It's hard to find anymore" I buy one of the joints they are pushing and then I go to emerald leaves. The have all of the CBD shit I like, and the bud tender was totally perplexed when I asked her if they are having any issues getting CBD flower/ gummies. She says, "no, this is the first I've heard of this?" So anyway, I'm an emerald leaves customer now. Don't really like being lied to. It's weird. I used to LOVE Mary Marts bud tenders. They were so helpful. It appears to be different bud tenders and who I perceive is the manager? All of them different over the last probably 4 months. read more

First time in the store because the dispensary i normally go to was closed. My friend & me approached the counter & were asked for id's. My friend who happened not to have his was told to leave, all good. The budtender then a second time very rudely told my friend to completely exit store because he was hanging out by the exit. Absolutely adore Mary Mart, so much so I wanted to improve their Yelp score lol. Pro Tip: always order online pick up for the best deals! Every bud tender is so sweet and knowledgeable, and I never feel intimated or like an "outsider" when I come in. What I like the most about MM is they give honest feedback about their products and will help steer you in the right direction depending on what you're looking for. This place isn't just for dank nugs, they also have plenty of wellness brands and smoking accessories in rotation. I needed a cartridge for the new battery I was buying. The guy showed me some options and I picked one out. I got home and the cartridge is square and my battery is circle. I bought the two things together, you'd think he'd know, but hey. It happens. I went back today and I tell the new guy what happened and I want to exchange. He says we need the manager who was the guy from yesterday! The person who sold me a battery and cartridge that do NOT go together is their manager. My first experience here was a couple years back. I am extremely green when it comes to THC and even greener then. I dont think this place is very noob friendly. They have loud music and everything is behind the counter which makes it very difficult to shop around and see if anything grabs my attention. I think the people are friendly but a little aggressive, they most likely know what they are selling but for a newcomer its a bit overwhelming. My second experience was on their 4/20 sale I ordered online and was told to wait for a text saying it was ready before coming in. I waited and never got a text, 8 hours later I received a text stating they are putting the order back on the shelves... I was bummed but just decided it wasnt a big deal. Overall I think this is a staple of Tacoma. They are very good for the community and surrounding businesses. Its an intense experience and feels difficult to wrap my head around as a noob. I did buy a cheap $5 pipe and it was perfect as a starter/testing the water pipe! I don't live remotely close to Tacoma, but when i am in the area, i stop by here and pick up some necessities. The budtenders i have encountered are very friendly and helpful. They have some cool specials on certain days as well. For example, it was a Tuesday night, and their special was two for Tuesdays or something like that. Two J's for the price of one. Something told me to give them a call just to make sure they had plenty left. Sadly they only had 1 left, but would still honor the sale. The guy over the phone was sweet enough to hold it for me while i made the 5 minute drive. Other than specials, they sell everything else you would need or want to try. As a former server and Starbucks barista I'm not usually one to complain about service, but a couple experiences I have had with the staff here were terrible. A few weeks ago, I went in in the morning (8:45am) to grab an eighth (I'm not picky, but I stay in my price range). The guy who helped me could obviously tell I don't go in there often, as this isn't, and never will be, my regular shop. He asked me what I was looking for, told him "an eighth of flower" and he told me that the menu was behind me. I got a $25 bag, and gave him a hundred to pay. He simply replied with "I have to give you all 5s". I said that's okay and he said "better be, it's 8:30 in the morning." Handed me my stuff, and I left. Uhh okay? Don't you guys consistently make transactions over $20, $50, $100?! Fast forward to tonight, I came through the area to go to a nearby bar. Looking for a parking spot, I pulled into the lot to turn around to look on some nearby streets. The security guard patrolling the lot gave me the signal to turn around, which is what I already was doing. He then came up to the car and threatened me with a $2 fine (lol okay???) for pulling into the parking lot wrong, even though there is no one way sign. Just a fence blocking the view. My point is, I can name about 6 other places in the area that you can get all the same products from the same growers for around the same price, even cheaper. Three totally disappointing visits over six months and I'll never step foot in that store again. This last and final visit this week had me in the store without my glasses so I gave the clerk instructions on what I was looking for explicitly. She narrowed her search to two choices and after she read the potency of the strain, I settled on the Grape Ape. When I got home and found my glasses and read the label on the packaging I found that the potency she had stated to me was incorrect and off by 10 percentage points. But what I really detest is that their mistake became my problem seeing that you cannot return anything even when it's their negligence. Also, after visiting other stores in the area I found their prices here are way too high. I found a place on Hosmer Street in Tacoma by the Bass Pro Shop that has a menu four times bigger than Mary Mart with prices 10-20% lower and so far has a staff that is not incompetent as it is at Mary Mart. There's a whole lot that can seem overwhelming when you first walk into the building. The vibe was right in Mary Mart. We didn't feel rushed. If you know what you are going for the staff is more than helpful. Even with the stupidest of questions that I'm usually good for. Michael helped us out he was very attentive, asked ALL our questions, showed us multiple items, and gave us his honest opinions. My friend really likes the rainbow belts Michael recommended and I really like the mango belts he recommended to me. Oh yeah on Wednesday's ladies they have Wonder Woman Wednesdays! My reviews are rather mixed. I have been popping in the store now for a good 5 months. I am somewhat of a "new stoner"- and I just recently discovered the joys and positive medicinal effects of edibles and joints to wind down after a hard days work or dance rehearsal. I am not a huge stoner nor do I dab or vape or smoke from a bong or even big pipes since I have an athletic/ dance background I still must remain disciplined and not be a total fry lol. I go through about a joint every 2 or 3 days and I eat edibles little by little at a time like a bird. I am also not rich and never willing to spend more than $7 on a joint and no more than $15 on a bag of edibles...this I usually disclaim or explain when I first get to the counter to the budtenders couple of them know me by now and know what i like, which is awesome. I have always had an awesome time with the younger budtendees in my age range who sorta understand more when a broke artist and newfound pot consumer like myself rolls in on a budget. But the problem I have been facing recently, the last 4 times I have been in there especially, is the major push of upsale. The upsaling by some budtenders has been coming on too strongly. Perhaps something shifted in the company: I know factory made weed is super corporate now and perhaps the managers are on a commission- but whatever is going on at Mary Mart Corporate- it is being projected onto the customers in rather pushy and cold ways: Notably by (I wish to keep this polite because I know they are managers and hard working people and it's a tough position to be in...so I don't want to call them "older" or anything but that's the T...its the older ones.) perhaps it's a generational gap thing or a lack of understanding that most young ppl in Tacoma are BROKE AF and can only really afford tiny luxuries here and there. The push of always bringing me the $20 and $30 joints FIRST when they already know I am not going to spend that much on a joint is a bit much. The other night I told the dude I had a bit of a cold and I was just gonna get a couple fruity edibles to ease the body aches: he went into a schpeal about the weed sodas and highly reccommended them I.e liquid marijuana - talked to me for a good 10 mins about it without telling me the price of course and then grabbed a bottle and rung me up. Um the bottle was valued at $38.00 before tax....as if I was that gullible and was magically ready to drop 40 bucks on a bottle of weed soda. It was awkward and uncomfortable to have to constantly say "oh no thanks um ya thats a little over my price range my budget here is only like 15 bucks..." Leaving me to feel emberassed and loserish and insecure about what I want because it may not help them reach their "quota" for the day. I am sorry that my budget is I guess too low for Mary Mart. The upsaling issue is real and the last 4 times have been a bit of a let down and a bummer experience. It is a bold move to push and push such high price items to someone who is just in need of smaller things but if that is Mary Marts way, then I may just start shopping at Emerald Leaves only. Emerald leaves doesn't give a FUCK if you're poor and I like that. Quit upsaling new stoners! They are vulnerable and are learning! Ease them into the ganja world and plz be more understanding of a customers budget. Expensive joints and sodas are too adavanced for ppl with simpler and cheaper needs. read more

Been coming here for a couple years now and looking forward to eventually finding a new place to pick up. I really only go here because it's close. They do have a good selection but the vibes at this place are awful. Parking lot is extremely difficult to navigate. When going in now you're greeted by one or two armed guards now that tell you take off your hat or glasses. After being damn near searched there are cameras and monitors pointing at your from every direction anywhere you look. I understand it's for their safety buts it's ridiculous treating your customers like criminals. Not even the bank has this level of security, it's extremely uncomfortable. If there is a line to any capacity have fun waiting atleast 20 minutes because everyone here is a chatty Kathy. There's no sense of urgency. If you're a cute straight boy then avoid Connor at all costs unless you like being aggressively and uncomfortable hit on. Enough with the winking at me and calling me cute dude. This business is a good summation of most Tacoma business. Serviceable but inefficient, much more likely to let you do than ever surprise you. read more

Have been going to this place for a while, always had a pleasent experience. Today however, one of the employees directing traffic in the lot (female, dark sunglasses) waved us over and told me to park in a spot on the street, commenting at the time that it was indeed a legal spot. I had thought she was helping us out. I then go into the store and when I come out my car is gone. Apparently parking enforcement told my wife to move it or get a ticket. My wife then explained to him that we were told to park there by the mary mart employee. When the parking officer then asked the employee if she told us to park there, my wife clearly heard her deny that she told us that we were good to park there... Said she had no idea what we were doing. What the Hell? Now I will be telling EVERYONE I know about the character of this Tacoma Mary Mart employee, and advising them to head to your competitors. I hope it was worth it to her to save face with the meter man, and lose a loyal customer and have everyone I know hear this story. Everyone else there has always been great, it's too bad one person's decision to lie can cause you guys to lose a repeat customer. read more
