I think I've been to all of the donut shops in the area and I've found Mary Lee's to be the best. I could easily find myself stopping in for a donut or two every morning if I don't watch myself. The only negative to me is the price. Donut shops around here are sure proud of their donuts. Most of these places charge right around $10 just for a dozen glazed donuts and Mary Lee is no exception. Including tax you're going to pay right at $1.00 for a regular glazed which seems a bit high to me. If you want a cinnamon twist you'll pay $1.89 plus tax! I called that day and told them he said come back in and we will replace it when I came back in and showed them my phone record and explained what happened they broken English said you will pay we do not remember. I love Mary Lee Donuts! I recently started working night shifts in Mandeville. After leaving work one morning, I was at a red light, looked over and saw Mary Lee donuts. I thought oh exciting this is gonna be good. I love Mary Lees because the ones in my area Ponchatoula and Hammond, are AMAZING! One of my favorites is a blueberry cake donut. I saw theirs in the case and it did not have any icing on it whatsoever. Just a bare dry looking donut. I asked the man serving me if there's anyway he could put icing on it. He said no at first but I guess he thought about it for a second and then he said he said he could even after eating it with icing. It tasted so disgusting. I swear it had to have been at least 3 to 4 days old. I don't see how they stay in business after reading reviews from 8, 10, 12 years ago. I'm so amazed that they can even keep their lights on. I should've known better when there was no one else in the parking lot or in the store when I pulled up. The roads were busy with traffic. You would think after reading reviews themselves, the owners would change something but nope still operate the same way like I said I don't know how they stay in business. DO NOT WASTE YOUR $$ oh I do know how they stay in business. They upcharge their nasty donuts. But I promise you you'll only go there once. This place has been a long time favorite. The staff here are hardworking and kind. They accept credit cards as long as your total is over $7! They have such the wide range of options even in the early afternoon. I gotta say that I'm partial to their Mardi Gras sugar crystal ones or a freshly made hot glazed one if I get there early enough. Lots of different color sprinkle, filled, apple fritter, long Johns, etc. I highly recommend them! It's a little out of my way, but I plan to go to them from now on. Mary Lee Donuts sells kolaches. Ok, now that I've gotten the one good thing out of the way, I will continue. This is my least favorite donut shop for several reasons. They frequently have service, quality and availability issues. The donuts are downright awful. I'm not sure how long they leave their stock in the case, but on most occasions my donuts have been stale and flavorless. The apple fritters are the worst of their specialty donuts as they come soaked in grease to the point that they are not edible. The standard donuts are not soaked in grease, but have little sweetness and are often hard as if they've sat in the case too long. If you do like donuts as described above, good luck finding what you need. They are often out of many different types which is frustrating when your kid wants a specific donut. Service is slow and not particularly friendly. It seems as of there are only two employees who do their best, but it seems like it's more of a chore or inconvenience rather than something they enjoy. The one redeeming factor is their kolaches, but even that will probably not convince me to return. Sorry Mary Lee, after probably 25 visits, I can't do it anymore. read more

The owners here are very nice and customer service is great. The doughnuts offered are the basic glazed, sprinkle, etc. and would be much better if served warm. On the plus side, this place accepts credit cards! Other local doughnut stores are cash only. read more

Donuts are my kryptonite. Sorry for the bad review but I wish I had looked at the reviews first. I thought I would give them another shot after a one-time visit years ago. Unfortunately, nothing had changed.I asked for one glaze and one long chocolate frosted donut. The plain donut was cold, withered, and barely had glaze on it. I was asked if I wanted a cream filled chocolate donut. I said "sure." I didn't realized that the worker/owner would pull out a bowl full of custard and fill the donut right there. Okayyy... maybe they only did things fresh, I thought? The flavor of the custard belied that belief. The custard had a sharp tangy fermented taste to it. Anyway, I was charged $4.20 for 2 (bad) donuts! The capper: I couldn't use my debit card because my order was under $7. I had to scrounge for all the money I could find. Silver lining: I was a little short and she let me keep the donuts -overpriced that they were. Sadly, They gained and lost a customer in one day. ps. if this could be negative stars it would. this first happened to me about a month ago and I didn't say anything until it happened again today. Both trips in the woman behind the counter charged me 1 cent over what was on the board for everything we ordered. a dozen charged $8.30 but $8.29 is listed, a single sprinkle donut charged $1.00 but board says .99 cent, same for our milk and for our sausage rolls. so i mentioned it this time since it has happened twice and the lady said, "oh it's only a penny" i told her if you do that to everyone you serve all day every day then you have stolen a lot of money. she just walked away then.i will never go back, the donuts aren't even very good it was just the closest place. read more

Worst donuts I've had in my life. I created an account on here specifically to share with everyone my experience. Walked in around 7am specifically to find an apple fritter since donut king was out at the time. The lady informed me she had fresh glaze that just came out, I saw them sitting there on the counter. I decided to get one glaze along with my fritter. I then walk out, take a single bite of my "fresh hot glaze" no.. Cold, nasty, and tasteless. I left that donut in the parking lot for her. Fast forward the drive home I get to my house throw the fritter in the microwave hoping I just had a rough morning and took it out on the donut.. Nope after 20 seconds in the microwave my apple fritter was leaking grease and somehow still hard..? Never again will I use this donut shop. You want a good donut, try donut king 1.5 miles away. This is actually for the Covington location but I couldn't find it on Yelp. I stopped in one morning last week to pick up a dozen donuts and the gentleman behind the counter ran my credit card. Something happened and he asked for my card again and made some groaning sounds (as if something was wrong and he was upset about it). I asked him if I would be charged twice and he assured me I would only be charged once. Before completing the transaction and leaving with me donuts I checked my online banking app which revealed I indeed HAD been charged twice. I walked back to the counter to show the man and he showed me a receipt and said "only charged once". Needless to say, I had to dispute the charge with my bank who happily reversed the charge. The donuts were plain and cold and pricey. Do yourself a favor and drive to Buttercrisp donuts - there's no comparison. read more

1-star is generous here....It was Saturday morning at 7am, excited to make a rare donut run and try a new place...unfortunately, I was sorrily disappointed... I should have heeded the early warning signs (I.e. no other customers & front window sign also selling pigs-in-a-blanket)...A donut shop with no customer on Sat.morning?? Cake donuts were a minimum of 2-days old and like eating cardboard. Glaze were not much better, maybe 1-day old...Certainly were not fresh. I honestly threw the entire dozen in garbage and should have returned to ask for a refund. If your craving donuts, find somewhere else. If I could have given negative stars I would have. I needed two dozen glazed donuts they only had one and it was 830am. The donuts were nothing special and I was charged nine dollars for the glazed and 11 for the mixed which I really didn't want I wanted glazed. My total was $23 so roughly I spent almost $12 a dozen. Seems a little ridiculous for a mediocre donut. I don't mind spending money on things but that was just ridiculous. I will never return. read more

Today was the first time to stop here. We order regular glazed doughnuts and the were really good. Now they were not made to order but are just as good as Mandeville bake shop and butter crisp. The customer service was also great. Our friends got a coconut doughnut which also just as good and an eclair which was filled with fresh cream right when we ordered it. Now the eclairs dough was more like cake it is thicker to hold in the cream so it does ooze out the sides or make it soggy. So yes I would recommend them. read more
