I don't normally spend much time in Picayune, but lately I've found myself here because my kid has…read morebeen taking the ACT nearby. Twice so far. Let's hope for that 36 so we can be done with this thing. Dad needs a new pair of shoes. Or maybe an old Land Cruiser. Or literally anything else I can buy with the money I won't have to spend on college if she gets a full scholarship. A man can dream. But I digress. When you have four hours to kill while your kid takes a test, you need somewhere to go. And if you're like me, you might as well get some work done. Enter PJ's Coffee. I'm not going to spend a bunch of time explaining what PJ's is. If you're from Louisiana, you probably already know. Get yourself an iced coffee, grab a sandwich, and find somewhere to sit. And there are plenty of options. Tables, chairs, a couch, and those little setups with two comfortable chairs and a table in between. I've worked from pretty much all of them at this point, and they've all been great. I'm sure they have Wi-Fi and would happily give you the password, but I just used my phone's hotspot. Worked fine for me. The service has been great every time I've been here. Everyone is friendly, the coffee is good, and most importantly, they let me sit there and work for hours without anyone bothering me. No interruptions, no feeling like I needed to hurry up and leave, just a comfortable place to get some work done. Honestly, that's exactly what I needed. If you're in Picayune and need some coffee, a quick bite, or somewhere to knock out a few hours of work, PJ's is a great spot. Now, if my kid can just get that 36, maybe I can stop hanging out in Picayune on Saturday mornings. And start shopping for that Land Cruiser.

The ambiance is relaxing and clean. The service is great, those ladies are on top of it!! We had…read morecaramel velvet ice, caramel granita, and beignets! 10/10 delicious!!

Ten, ten, ten across the board!!!!!!!…read more So I was passing through Slidell and asked a friend if he knew a good coffee spot that wasn't [insert coffee shop, you know the one]. And in that moment I was reminded why I rarely ask for recommendations because my taste runs a little too refined for most. Nevertheless I turned to Maps and typed in "coffee," and the first option was an immediate no. But the second one, the name alone, told me everything I needed to know. The only problem, it was the opposite direction I was headed and I was already running late. But I couldn't ignore that instinct. I had to see for myself. "Sorry boss, can't come in today. I was on my way to work and then a gentle fall breeze blew me in the direction of my destiny and reminded me it is a serious thing just to be alive on this fresh morning in this broken world!" Anywho, I'm so happy I stopped. The moment I walked in it felt like home, not in the corny sitcom way, but in that deeper unexpected kind of way. Like walking into a crowded room full of strangers and then seeing your homegirl that instantly makes you feel like yourself again and suddenly the day is yours. Mind you I hadn't even ordered at this point, but that's how good just walking inside made me feel. i felt like a mom that has been saying "you not getting that" all year then christmas day be grinning when baby open that present they been wanting!! Then there's the coffee, I'm still sipping my Beehive Latte now and it's fabulous. And I don't say fabulous often. I was going to go with a vanilla latte but since I sort of felt like I was in Adam and Eve's garden I wanted to try something new. The owner recommended the Crème Brûlée Latte but his wife overheard me going back and forth in my head (out loud) and suggested the Beehive since I like my coffee sweet but not overwhelming. This latte is perfect, pure perfection. I grabbed a chocolate croissant too because they looked delicious and they absolutely delivered. Flaky, golden and brown and no I'm not describing myself. The pastries all looked heavenly. Everything was perfect. Sure, I'm having an exceptionally good day already, maybe because of the weather, maybe because it's Friday, or maybe because I'm an attractive single 6'3 male and ready for eligible suitors. Either way, the service, their smiles, the coffee, the plants, everything was otherworldly. I'd go out of my way to come back. Wanna come with?

I have been to Roots Plants Coffee twice since moving to Slidell area. It's not an understatement…read morewhen I say this is literally the best coffee ever. The lattes are on point. So yummy and so sweet. The environment is cozy. Plants everywhere. Nature makes a space a positive element. I go here to relax when I need a pick me up or simply am craving a sweet caffeinated beverage. My only thing is the prices. They are a bit high, which is why I'm rating 4 stars, BUT totally worth the price for the amount of options you get to choose from and the quality of the coffee. :)
