I don't think it is unreasonable to ask the employee if the chicken I just dropped $75 on is fresh. She instantly started giving me attitude as if I offended her. She then stated that their chicken is considered expired after 2 hours. My point exactly. If I wanted 2 hour old chicken pieces I could have gone to Save on. I've reviewed this place before. It has been one of my favourites, but my last experience was a complete letdown. Was the first customer in to order take-out one morning. Now I can't be sure, but, certainly believe what I got was previously cooked, reheated that morning, then passed over to me. The wedge fries stuck together, barely warm, the same with the chicken. Now I know it was take-out, but I live a block away, so the food wasn't left long enough to get as lukewarm as it was, not having just come out of the cooker. I've ordered before, and by the time I got home, the potatoes were still too hot to eat. Disappointing indeed. I think. I will go back, but another meal like that, and it's over. read more

never had Mary Brown's chicken before, thought the $20 Batters box would be a good first try....there won't be another. The guy that took my order wasn't friendly, not 100% sure but I think he may have been the owner? I put my order in a thermos bag so it would be still warm when I got home. From my potato wedges I had maybe 4, one bite out of the biscuit and the rest ended up in the bin. The fries were rubbery and the biscuits weren't great either. Poor service. Gave my order and the worker did not follow. I tried to confirm and said we don't have shredded cheese. Also didn't give me a fork for my poutine and was awkward about it when I asked for it.... Didn't give me my receipt. read more

On the way home from a long road trip, I needed to eat but wasn't hungry for a large meal. Mary Brown's snack menu fit the bill perfectly. Got a snack chicken slider and a popcorn chicken. I was very impressed by the sandwich which had a generous piece of perfectly fried chicken that spilled out the sides of the bun. And the chicken poppers where fantastically meaty. I was the second customer when Mary Brown;s opened a couple years ago. It was an awesome place to get great chicken and the value matched what food you got. I went in this morning and got a Mary Brown mini and a medium poppins. $11.00 bucks, WOW. The Mary mini was 1/2 a bite and the poppins were dry as dry could be. Mary Browns used to be a multi cultural employer and had great customer service. This seems to be no more. Neither of the employees were welcoming and did not even seem to care about my order. The store was dirty and not as clean as it used to be. Mary Browns seemed to have gone the way of KFC in customer service and food taste. Unbelievable. These guys are a direct competitor to KFC, the chicken is less battered and greasy, the chicken flavor definitely comes through better, as for the salads they are similar in the way the're served but in my opinion just taste better. read more

I just ordered the pop in Sweet chilli Thai flavour. I really liked the crispness of the small tenders. They tasted so good and not so greasy which I truly like. My body can't handle certain foods but this agreed with me. I will try other items next time I come. read more

If you are craving fried chicken this is the place to go. Batter is light and crispy while the meat stays moist and tender. Chicken is not at all greasy. The taters are not great. Service is fast and friendly. Price is modest. I would recommend getting take out. read more

Not sure where the first interviewer went but that's not the experience we had. This place is horrible! We also went there to try something different in the world of fast food chicken. Well they didn't do anything better then anybody else. Actually worse. First off the chicken taste just KFC except double the salt. And the menu said "fries or taters" we assumed the "taters" were some sort or tater tot but instead it was a big soggy wedgy fry that was under cooked and bland. I guess that's our bad for assuming The macaroni salad was just noodles and mayonnaise and there's the gravy. That was just beef trio powdered gravy mix didn't even use it. Would assume the gravy would be at least chicken flavoured powdered gravy mix. I'm disappointed I couldn't find anything to say good about this place. But I can't. And I am all about the constructive reviews. Anyway we won't be back. read more

The food is great and there is plenty of it. The problem they have is that the prices! ordered a 3 pce chicken dinner but didn't want the pop and asked for the price without, the clerk rung it up and the price came out at the same price - NOT GOOD !!!! Asked for him to ring it up in different ways and the price always came to the same price. So ended up with 2 unwanted pop - never drink the stuff so why should I have to buy it. They really need to change this policy as there a lot of people who don't drink/like pop out there and we shouldn't be forced to pay for something we don't want. read more

First time and it was amazing. Mary Browns was served super fast and piping hot and juicy.(Not dry heat lamp chicken like the local K**).

Our family of 12 had the family feast package and were able to change the order around to suit our need. Without fail, everyone raved about the non greasy chicken and the favourable wedges. Great service from the owner. Everyone has now changed over to Mary Browns ....loved it read more

I had heard great things about this place, so I went to check it out. I was pretty disappointed and feel like I wasted my money. The food had little flavour, and was quite boring. I would have preferred to go to KFC instead. I'm not sure I will give them a second chance. read more

Our family ate their last night and it was great .We grew up having Mary Brown's and it is nice to see them coming to the west coast finally. The chicken was freshly cooked and so juicy . Taters were great as well .Did not have any gravy so can't comment on that .Had the macaroni salad and agree nothing special about it . Maybe too much salad dressing for my taste.Would try either potato or coleslaw next time. It was very busy there so had to wait a little bit maybe 10 mins. The staff member was very nice and efficient. They have a few tables if you want to eat there. Ironically one of our party was leary about having Mary Brown's so opted for KFC which is across the street . There were no customers at KFC but Mary Brown's had a half dozen or so hence the reason for our wait. I do find Mary Brown's chicken more flavourful than KFC , it's almost like they marinate it before the breading. Would definitely eat there again. read more
