I got the worst food poisoning here last week. Projectile vomiting and diarrhea for a week. Reported to the health department and the health department found several serious violations of food improperly stored and not at correct temperature. Also employee was actively sick and working. Please avoid if you value your health. Also please note they are currently propping open the doors so you can't see their health department violation notice which is incredibly deceptive. I will be reporting them again for hiding this notice.

    Nikutama Udon - takeout
    Nate S.

Ordered a nikutama udon for takeout, and it was just an average udon. I wasn't too impressed, but I also didn't think it was that bad either. I thought they didn't include nearly enough broth, as the broth amount only covered about half the noodles. What I really liked was how the packaged the takeout. They divided each portion of the udon into its own separate compartment, which ensured freshness and quality. Portion size was sufficient, definitely enough for a good meal.

I like how this spot is casual and you can easily get a large bowl of noodles for cheap. What you have to be careful are the extra items like the protein or eggs or tempura. That's where they get you. But I liked the options. I definitely would get a regular plain bowl of udon and add whatever toppings I like or just go plain if I'm feeling like it. The Cheese Katsu Tomatama Curry udon wasn't my favorite but I'm glad I tried it. I overall like the restaurant and it's very spacious too which is nice for seating.

Still enjoy eating here. Nikutama with ginger just hits the spot when craving soup. Service is quick and plenty of seating. Very spacious.

First time and I literally inhaled it! Got the creamy broth with a side of gyoza and shrimp tempura. Asked for chili oil but they had some paste type spicy peppers so that did its job. Wasn't spicy, but really enjoyed the broth. Can't wait to return to try other broths! Oh and the shrimp tempura.....BE BEST!

Can't go wrong with marugame! I love their beef udon. It's so flavorful but it can get a bit too salty. Decent portion for the price too We came on a Friday night and it was very busy but we luckily found a table after we ordered

It's a simple cafeteria-style udon place. You order your udon, pay at the counter and take the tray to any open tables available. It's reasonably priced and quick. They have a water/ice station with tempura sauce, utensils and napkins. There is a nice outdoor areas for seating too. This place can get crowded over the weekend and the line gets long outside the door too. During peak time, parking can be hard to find. The parking lot isn't that big with all the shops in the same complex and some space are pretty tight. Plan accordingly when you come.

Delicious udon. The noodle station was a mess last time I went, but it's so good, it doesn't really matter. Tempura sweet potato is the GOAT. Solid spot. Will continue to come.

Great option for quick and cozy udon! This is a cafeteria style restaurant, where you order at the front, they make the food in front of you, and you pay right there. Service was pretty fast for a weekend and it was easy to find a seat after paying. Pretty much everything is self serve, including the utensils, water, and sauces. I ordered the Nikutama with fresh veggies on the side, and it delicious! The broth is definitely on the sweeter side (which I personally like). It's more of a "saucey" broth so it can get a little salty after having a few bites. Noodles were the perfect bouncy texture. I do feel like they could have been more generous with the meat though, since I finished that quite fast. Their tamagoyaki tempura was great as well--sweet and not too oily. Overall, good no frills place for udon!

Quick, easy, and yummy! Seems the prices went up a bit but still quite reasonable. You line up and order like a cafeteria lunch and pay at the end of the line then find a seat. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The udon noodles are nice and QQ and they portion everything very consistently!

I had no idea this restaurant was a chain! It was the best noodles ever when I was I was in Hawaii so I had to stop by the one in San Jose. The noodles didn't quite live up to the memory but was still good, noodles made fresh everyday and cooked right in front of you, with several add on options to make the meal! I love the tan tan broth with my tempera zucchini and sweet potatoes!

Essentially yoshinoya (half beef only) adding udon. Yes I love yoshinoya, but going to a cafe paying 50% more seems not necessary.

Yummy! Wonderful for a quick bite but not fast food in the traditional sense. Fresh udon noodles prepared as you ordered. We had the creamy broth and Nikutama. The nikutama felt heartier and has a nice sweet flavor from the onions. The creamy broth was delicious. Chicken Katsu was a large piece which was good for value and tasted freshly made. Service was excellent and overall place is clean! P.S for families, there is a diaper changing table but outside of the bathroom

Marugame Udon is my favorite quick spot for some high quality udon. I really enjoy the Nikutama and the sweet broth.

First you select a broth (I don't do spicy, so I always pick their chicken broth; but friends and family enjoy the spicy flavors a lot). Then you pick your style of noodle (the fish noodle was fun to try, but I prefer the ramen or the knife-cut or rice noodles). Then you pick your toppings - a large variety of both meat and veggie options! It comes with a little veggies (spinach, corn, mushroom, bamboo) too. My favorite appetizer is their rice spicy honeycomb tripe - great marinade! Recently tried the Hainan chicken dish and it was good too (though I would prefer more ginger than scallion in the oil and the roasted peanuts, garlic cucumber are yummy too!). In the past we have also had the fried rice, which my kiddos really love. But the true highlight is to get the "large" soup noodles where they serve it in a bowl larger than your whole head. Didn't get it this past visit because we weren't that hungry... but it is always a fun order! I enjoy having the treat of a drink with their combo deal. :)

I did 4 add ons (brisket, tendon, wood ear, and pork stomach). The ingredients were all pretty solid. The rice noodle was good. Broth was great. I added the spicy sauce into my broth - their spice is fragrant and flavorful. Overall, it's a solid choice. I'd want to come back and try their Hainan chicken next time.

Surprisingly, the normal Dan Dan noodles ("special sesame dry noodle") were quite bad. The beef and tendon noodle soup is not bad, decent for when I was sick. There is a "beef and tendon noodle soup" as well as a "beef only noodle soup" on the menu - you might think the beef only one would be better value and have more meat, I ordered both to see the difference - even though the meat only one does have more meat, the meat is more tough and very hard to chew. After placing our order, the food came out relatively quick. We ordered 2 beef noodle soups, the works, and 2 beef rolls. Starting off with the beef rolls, these came out cold. I heard that this is what this place was known for. The meat in our rolls wasn't even lukewarm and the pancakes came out super soggy almost like they didn't even try. Please tell me how the pancake look brown and crispy on the outside and still comes out cold and not crispy at all. My nephew even said they weren't crispy and he's 3. The lady told us that the sauce on the inside was salty and that's why they don't give extra and man was she right. 1/5* The beef noodles soup itself flavor wise was good and portion wise it was good for $21, but my noodles had no chew to them at all. I was attempting to pick them up with chopsticks and they would just break into pieces. They do give a decent amount of beef though in this. 2.5/5* for the flavor but don't expect much from the noodles. Same thing went for the works, it was a peanut buttery sauce that the lady claimed wasn't spicy, but my parents noticed that it had a kick to it even though they asked for it not to be spicy. The egg is a nice touch but not too sure if it's worth the price. Noodle consistency was the same as the beef noodle soup. 2.5/5*
