Martin's Bakery is quite literally the only place left in Scarborough that I go to for mutton rolls. Everywhere else seems so stingy nowadays, mostly potatoes with barely any meat, but Martin's always gets it right. The service is always so kind, even when they're incredibly busy, and I really appreciate the extra touch of offering tea or coffee when the lineups are long. I got a mutton wrap butter chicken roll and mutton roll, this place was so packed massive line up, My favourite thing here was the mutton roll wrap, they give a lot of mutton and the bread was really good. The mutton was tender, not a big fan of the butter chicken roll, I would come back just for the mutton wrap, they were quick got me out the door. read more

It's a shame this bakery has a few fake negative reviews that bring their overall rating down. A few of the yelpers that wrote the negative review only have one review on their account. I've been to this bakery twice so far and both experiences were pleasant. The line up of customers is always out the door. However, the owner ensures that they are taken care of with his positive attitude and friendliness. He treats customers with respect by calling them "thambi" which means little brother in Tamil. The food is always great ! The menu only has a few items but the quality is excellent. Try their rolls and kothu roti. You won't be disappointed. read more

Most recommended shop by my friends for mutton rolls. They're known for the mutton rolls but I loved the butter chicken rolls far more. I also got the mutton buns, chicken bun, mutton patty: all similar flavours but different exterior. Would need to come back and try the fish buns and sweet items like the banana donuts! read more

Worth the drive! I saw this place on Instagram and immediately had to drive over. The rolls looked scrumptious. I live in Mississauga so this was a bit of a drive but we made it before 9pm when it closes. They make a lot of the food fresh so there was no issue of them running out of food. They carry both meat and ample vegetarian options. We were a group of 5 adults and we got an assortment of goodies, fish, veggie and mutton. We also got the masala chai. Food: we got their famous rolls, Vada and fish cutlets. Everything was absolutely delicious. I'm not a huge fan of mutton but these rolls were out of the world! We also got some roti , vegetarian (potato) and spicy butter chicken. The butter chicken version was so tasty! They made it fresh so it was piping hot. Everything was a 10/10. The chai was also very good. It was a classic masala chai and not too milky. The best part? Everything came to about ~$37 including the tea. That's dinner for 5 adults! As with almost all other Sri Lankan places, it's takeout-only & cheap. As the name might suggest, there're few cooked dishes: it's mostly the usual rolls, buns & patties. Chicken briyani was so-so. It was moister than usual & very spicy. There was quite a bit of chicken. Underneath the chili the flavour was decent but it was hard to taste something through the overpowering spiciness. It was served with cold curry & onion raita on the side, which were decent. The mutton patty was decent. The fish cutlet was so-so: it had a lot of pepper & was cut with a lot of potato & they were cut in big pieces, so the texture was odd. read more

I've been going to this bakery for years... I'm a Tamil Sri Lankan which is the same ethnicity as this bakery's owners. I'm writing this review to warn others who appreciate good food, and good service. If you're looking for a decent level bakery with Sri Lankan short eats to snack on, this place ain't a bad consideration. However, be prepared to be treated like you owe the employees and the employer of this bakery something. The people who work here have no sense of hospitality and manners being in the food industry. My family runs a culinary business themselves and I'd be disgraced of them if they act anywhere close to how the people in this bakery behave. The people there look like they just woke up from a nap, they take phone orders and forget what order they even supposedly were taking down over the phone, and the best part when you approach them in person to let them know you're here to pick up your order they play the "you didn't make an order, stop trying to skip the line" card. I placed an order for something as simple as 3 fish patties as I often do almost weekly, the lady over the phone said to just skip the line and walk up to the counter and let her know A phone order was placed. When I arrived the lady refused to acknowledge the fact she had taken down an order over the phone just 10 mins prior to me showing up. I even showed her my damn call log lol (should never have gone to that extent). Along with that she had two male employees whom seem to have wanted to become club bouncers but miserably failed try to tell me I'm lying and to get to the back of the line. Idk what world of business you come from, but in ANY Food related business customer service is the major key. It gets better, the owner of the bakery (short half bald guy usually wearing a cap) said to me in these exact words; "If you don't want to wait in the line, we don't need you here. We don't need your business. You can leave now". This caught me by the biggest surprise which urged me to share my experience over this small issue which could've simply be handled professionally and politely. I've been going to this bakery over the last 22 years of my life. Safe to tell the public, If someone from the same ethnicity is writing a one star review about a bakery he's been going to for 22 years, it's really not that great at all. And kudos to "Martin's Bakery" because you just lost a life long customer with a lot of connections within the community. read more

First time trying the kothu roti and it was good. It was like a mashup of a ton of flavors. I tried the spicy chicken. Because it was cooked and chopped right in front of you the heat level was good. The prices are very reasonable just allow time for your food to be freshly prepared. read more

My first ever Yelp review! I live in Markham and would drive down to eat here. I've been working in the Scarborough area for about 3 years now and since then, I've been doing my best to find food gems. I stopped here today after just wanting to have a snack and I ordered 3 fish patties and 1 veg. roti wrap. The entire bill was under $4.00 and I felt like I got a real value. The fish patties were well seasoned, spice was tolerable, and the outer shell was the perfect amount of crispiness - 5/5. The veggie roti wrap was filling and well seasoned too - 5/5. I tried the butter chicken roll, wasn't my thing, flavour tasted like it came from a jar. Their stuffed rotis and buns are really good. Have been ordering the double stuffed mutton rolls and they are amazing!! The best one I've tried in Toronto/Scarborogh to date. They remind of the ones that Quality Bread Bakery use to make way back in the day. Their fish patties, onion sambal buns, banana balls (which I didn't even see when I was in Sri Lanka) and vadai crackers are great as well. The red rice string hoppers were fresh and the coconut sambal was also very fresh. They officially won myself and my family over. Food 5/5 for sure. Only quam, is the place needs a cleaning from the dust bunnies on the wall to the entrance door. It's a tad bit of a turn off walking into that and because of the current Covid situation. But, if you can get past that, the food is amazing and you won't be disappointed. And, the prices are great! Will be back to this spot for sure. read more

I finally got to the counter and she said the ten mutton patties I ordered weren't ready and it'll Only be a few minutes it's been 30 minutes..... horrible customer service.
