I had Tony and Alex out to install 2 can lights with a separate switch, moved a junction box over 3 ft, install a chandelier, and have 3 lights installed underneath the counters/breakfast bar. I was very pleased at their professionalism as well as their consulting skills. I had shopped around with other vendors but their prices were the best that I saw but the expertise was incomparable. They were very in-depth in their knowledge of what the process would look like and helped me understand the what-if scenarios that could occur. Under the current COVID circumstances, they always had their masks available and on while working as well. I would highly recommend them and will be using their services in the future. read more

I hate to do this to a small company but I am rather angry. I called Martini Electric on Monday morning and left a message indicating that I needed some work done. I waited until about 445pm and called them again as I had not heard from them yet. Tony answered and said that he would have someone out on the next morning around 9am. Great! It's now 11am and I have called Tony twice and gotten his voicemail twice. If you don't want my business, then just tell me. But making me rearrange my schedule and wait around for you to NOT arrive is annoying. I have found another electrician instead. On top of that once I described the issue to the other electrician, he was able to walk me through the fix over the phone - at no charge! This company is not reliable at all and I would recommend calling another electrician if you want to get any service at all. read more

I hired Martini for the first time in order to add an electrical socket to my laundry area. The owner, Tony, was very professional over the phone and worked to accommodate a tight delivery schedule. The job was accomplished on estimate and without and any unnecessary drywall holes. I would come to this company again for more extensive electrical work in the future. read more

I like to think that I am a good do-it-yourselfer ... but I found I got myself in a bit of a mess when trying to work out some electrical issues in the kitchen. I called up Martini Electric based on positive reviews on Yelp and VERY glad I did this. Tony called me back within two hours of leaving a message and I had an appointment the very next morning. He would have come out that day if it wasn't for a conflict he had later that day. Rick came out and quickly fixed the problem. I have new switches in my kitchen and the problem was solved. He was quick, efficient, reasonably priced and very friendly to work with. I will definitely use Martini again! Remember this is a small business so if you get his voicemail, leave a message and he will get back to you. He probably is on a site. Support a small, well-run business!!! read more

Tony gave me the best Christmas gift I could've asked for. As I was getting ready to leave for the holiday, I was vacuuming and smelled burning. I unplugged my vacuum and the outlet was so hot to touch. I found Martini Electric on Yelp and Tony was here within 2 hours to replace my fried outlet. I would've been nervous and worried about my place burning down all weekend. Now I can leave in peace knowing that my outlet is good to go! Also Tony is very personable and didn't mind my nosy kitten checking out his work. Thanks again, Tony! read more

Martini Electric - Replaced outlet. So happy it's gone! - Electricians Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

My husband has called this guy many times. He came to look around gave us an estimate. 80 service call 80 an hour and shouldn't take longer then 2 hours. After numerous phone calls we get another emailed estimate of $530 or something near that just for 2 new outlets not including the other problems we had. My husband called numerous times again and he never answers or rarely calls back. He said he was gonna try to come out friday never did, never answered phone so word of advice dont take off work for this guy. My husband called him again and we even went to vegas for 5 days and he still hasnt called back. Dont waste your time call someone else that wabts to work and values service with good communication. read more

Hired Martini electric to install a electrical outlet above my fireplace. They completed the job in a timely manner, were the best price quoted to me, and respectful enough to clean up after themselves. I docked one star as I was expecting them between 2:30 or 3 and they came at 4ish. I wouldn't let the deter you from their service he did a great job. read more

My experience with this provider reflects subpar professionalism and elitism experienced in the geographical area. My employers gave me Tony Martini's number as the electrician they used when they moved into their house approximately 1 year ago. They had a request in June 2013 which prompted me to try to schedule a time with Mr. Martini. Sadly, he never returned the call to my cellular phone. Two months later, additional electrical problems prompted 3 calls to Mr. Martini before they were answered. A service call was scheduled. During the call, the dispatched employee could not identify any problems that would account for why an overhead light was not working in a drop down ceiling in the basement. He suggested a $50 replacement dimmer switch when the basement lighting did not even have dimmer capacity. After much frustration, I simply changed the light bulb and my clients have had no problems. It baffles me that an electrician of 15+ years experience (per Mr. Martini) would not suggest simply changing a light bulb. Additionally, we requested the electrician look at installing a programmable thermostat, a job Mr. Martini assured us was "routine." The technician tried, but I about lost my patience when he classified the wireless thermostat as "defective" when he could not connect a live "c-wire" to the unit. After consulting with House of Heat in Oak Park, we have determined that incompetence resulted in us 1)being charged for 1 hour of services we did not actually receive and 2) not having a working wireless thermostat. In addition, we were basically brushed off on the other repairs and told to go buy our own parts, and that the repairs we wanted were "so simple you could have done them yourselves." Lastly, Mr. Martini's professionalism leaves a lot to be desired. I called to inquire about the charge for over 1.5 hours of work while the technician fiddled with looking for the "c wire (which I pointed out to him, as well as the statement that the unit wouldn't work without proper connection per unit instruction). Mr. Martini gave the standard company line of time worked, etc. It was his comment that "we would give him a bad review on Yelp or Angie's List" that inspired him to offer a 60% discount. While that was much appreciated, the fact that his company did not keep the honored appointment for follow-up makes me completely doubt the interest of this company. Seems like somebody loves those good reviews because of the additional business and will promise anything by phone to prevent a negative review. I do not care if Yelp doesn't publish this because it has been sent to Angie's list and Google Reviews as well. read more

Tony's company installed new panels and did some additional wiring in a vintage 3-flat; I was perfectly happy at the time. Now (a few years later) I've discovered that there's a problem with the wiring and have called and emailed over and over again, and can't get a response. read more

I was really in a bind as one of our 3 building master fuses had blown, knocking out power to my entire unit at the end of a weekday. With little time to remedy the situation, Tony got back to me almost immediately and was there in time to save the day and restore power in time, and installed a dimmer switch I'd been procrastinating on just because he saw it sitting out while we were finishing up verifying that the repair had worked. As a landlord, I've dealt with hundreds of contractors and 95% of them are crooks, Tony has made it into my preferred contractor rolodex of a dozen or so folks that can do the work needed well, at a reasonable price. I will be using him for upcoming projects (plus he and his wife are hilarious and extremely personable). read more

I needed my outdoor GFI outlet replaced and Tony responded quickly and provided same day service. Tony picked up all the parts needed and was able to replace and modernize a 20-year old outlet and get my backyard lighting system up and running. I would not hesitate to call on Tony in the future for any electrical needs. read more

Quick response even on a Sunday. I managed to short out everything in my condo. Tony got fixed and few other issues I was having as well. Great work. Patient, friendly. I would definitely use them again. read more

Updated review: After I posted my initial review, I was contacted by Tony, who apologized for going MIA and asked for a chance to make things right. I said ok, and he did come back and complete the work. I took a star off because he called to say he was running about a half hour late, but then arrived much later. I was working from home and had planned conference calls and another appointment around our scheduled time, so this was a big inconvenience. Given that he was trying to make things right after leaving me hanging following our estimate, I expected him to show up on time. Decent work, but there were just too many customer service issues to not mention them. read more

We are renovating our home and had a couple of contractors working at our house during the day. They called at 5:00pm to let us know that they had blown the garage breaker and in the process of replacing that, they were unable to get the main 200 amp switched back on, leaving us without power to our entire house. Our contractors were not knowledgeable/qualified to fix what they perceived to be the problem and told us we would need to contact an electrician. I have used Yelp frequently for services during our home renovation and Tony (Martini Electric) was one of the highest-rated electricians near the Lincoln Park area. I was not at all disappointed with Tony's service. I called him at 5:15pm to explain the issue and he agreed to come right out. He was at our house by 6:00pm and was able to fix the problem very quickly and restore our power. He is very knowledgeable and was also very helpful in answering other questions we had related to our wiring setup. I would highly recommend Tony if you are in a jam and his pricing is more than reasonable. read more

It is no surprise that this group has won the Angie's List Super Service Award for the last 4 years (won by only 5% of electricians on the site). As a single older woman, I have had my fair share of shady service from various providers. After several estimates and discussion of ideas with various local electricians for the complete rewiring of my 100 yr old Oak Park vintage condo I found reviews of martini electric on yelp and decided to give them a call. Best day ever! Right from the start I noticed a major difference in service. Most importantly, Mr. Martini himself answered the phone, not a receptionist who offers a call back that may or may not come. Equally important, he himself came to estimate the job and began problem solving and offering ideas about how to approach the job during this visit. As he was doing this, he was filming the site on a smart phone and recording the ideas and observations to use in the estimate. Another service plus! He discussed the estimate after he sent it, and set right to work getting in touch with the village of Oak Park electrical permit division to make sure his ideas would pass inspection. Now here's where the rubber meets the road: at exactly the appointed time, the crew arrived ready to work and began protecting my furniture from the inevitable mess. Each and every crew member polite, efficient, respectful of my property, and thankfully very proficient at their trade. Each day I would arrive home to a clean as possible house, and awaken to the same process the next day. Always on time, always cleaned up at day's end. In three days I was newly electrified, without a scratch to woodwork or art glass. Will definitely be using them for all future electrical needs. I only wish I had two extra thumbs to give the service four thumbs up! read more

I have never used used an electrician in Chicago before, and so I took to Yelp to find someone to help us out. We had a fuse that kept tripping, to the point where we couldn't get it back into place. Called a few places, but Martini Electric had the best price and could arrive the soonest, so I figured I'd give them a try. Actually, I called Tony at 11AM and he came that night at 6pm. Other companies told me it would be extra to come after working hours and weren't available for a few days, but Tony had no issues. He was right on time, courteous (took his shoes off without even asking to avoid tracking in snow and dirt) and professional. Fixed our fuse with no problem and then since it didn't take that long I asked if I could ask about a few other things. He didn't even blink. Fixed our fuse for the exact price discussed (which was less than any other estimate) and was happy to give advice about our other issues. I will definitely call Martini Electric next time we need an electrician! read more

I used martini electric for a condo that I was selling and not only are they priced right but they did a fabulous job!

After having a new rear porch installed, I needed it rewired for lighting. I had contacted several electricians to get advice and pricing and found Martini to be very competitively priced and the most truthful in what I wanted to accomplish. In fact all of the things I wanted he understood and crafted in his quote. He told me exactly what materials I was expected to supply and he would supply the rest. The night before the day he was to start he called and confirmed. The next day he and his assistant, Sonia, arrived and got started on the task. Throughout the day I was consulted a couple of times and advised on what the process would be and how the results would look. By the end of the day the job was excellently finished, the work space was clean and all materials were removed. The light sensing and motion sensing lighting all work as expected. The outlets work and are easy to use and everything looks absolutely great. What I like about Mr. Martini is now if I need an electrician, I can call him and know that the work will be done right and at a reasonable price and skip calling anyone else. Plus he is located close to my house, so the business stays in the neighborhood. If you need an electrician you would do well to hire to Martini Electric. read more

Called for service on broken breaker. Tony Martini answered and we spoke briefly, then he cut off saying he would call back. He didn't. I called again the next day and got his voice mail, but again no call back. Not professional. Had used them previously and experienced similar behavior with appointments missed and late arrivals without a call. Moving on. read more

Despite having Tony come onsite to look at the job. Despite showing him the fixture we were going to purchase. Despite measuring the height of the ceiling. Despite a written estimate. He sends one guy with too short of a ladder. Tells me they have to build scaffolding. Insists the ceiling is higher than it is (he didn't think about the fact that the ladder would be on an angle). Tells me we'll have to reschedule and a 2 to 3 hour job would be 1/2 day for two guys. Tells me it's going to cost more than 2x the original estimate. Then tells me I'm being inflexible. I'd rather sit in the dark than give this guy business. read more

A few months back I need to have a new circuit installed. Martini Electric came out for a free quote the next day. The day after that they came out installed the circuit, updated the labeling on my panel, and then fixed some light switches that had been installed incorrectly by the previous electrician I used without my prompting. They were courteous, efficient, and the bill came in at about what was quoted. I would definitely use them again. They cleaned up when they were done and the circuit has worked beautifully. read more

I contacted Martini Electric on a Saturday night and Tony was able to come out on on Sunday. He scheduled me for 2 PM, and was here at around 1:50 PM after caling and saying that he was 10 minutes away. He put in a temporary fix to the problem, suggested how we could avoid future issues, and scheduled another appointment for Tuesday evening to come back and replace a few breakers for a more permanent fix. Tuesday's appointment was a breeze, and I am very satisfied with his service. The price seemed reasonable (not sure what the average rate is for an electrician), but didn't seem too high or low. I will definitely use Martini again in the future if I run into issues. They were easy to deal with and very responsive via phone/text. read more

I moved into my condo only to find out that "cable ready" meant cable was hooked up in my bedroom, but not the rest of the apartment. I have never hired an electrician before and I have to say that this was a really good experience for home improvement. The cable needed to be "fished' through the ceiling from the bedroom to the living room. Tony gave me an accurate quote. The electrician who came in was very professional and helpful and was even able to do complete the job and add in a few extra electrical outlets in less time than the original quote. It is great to get reliable service. read more

We needed a new service and electric work done in our house. Tony was prompt in providing us with a fair and honest quote. He was able to break down the quote for us so we could add or subtract switches, outlets etc to help with our budget. Tony was on par with price with a few other electricians but his honesty gave me piece of mind. His crew came in and worked hard and quick. Despite our indecisiveness they were extremely patient and helped us walk through the process. Our electric works great and we absolutely love our can lights. We couldn't be happier. read more

I had an electrician in because my track lighting lights kept burning out. He told me I needed the tracks replaced, which would cost thousands of dollars. I called Martini Electrics for a second opinion. They told me the individual light boxes could be replaced and that there was likely nothing wrong with the wiring in the tracks. I followed their advice and saved thousands of dollars. It's nice to find an honest electrician in the city. read more
