I would shop around.

My ceilings are 21 feet high so scaffolding was needed to remove a fan and change out several LEDs both on my ceiling and balcony. (Note that other contractors' estimates really botched the plan on this.) Greg and Alex were amazing! They were so fast and efficient that my project came in under budget. Greg is a true expert when it comes to electrical work. Having worked with electrical contractors for decades with some mixed results, I can't recommend T&D Electrical highly enough. Their price was very reasonable.

He was on-time, very friendly and answered all my questions (which I had many of). He also laid-out a number of options for me (4). Not just standard heating/cooling but options that included heat pumps and variable/single stage furnaces. He took the time to walk me through this while on his visit (rather than taking it away and sending quotes via e-mail). Finally, he was fair and very responsive as we got to the price negotiation process. He worked with me on the budget that I had and was able to provide discounts to meet where I needed to be. I look forward to seeing how Deljo does on the installation and maintenance process.

What on earth is so complicated about a job like that that you need to charge that much? The technician offered to take $100 off, which just goes to show you that they already knew going into the quote that they were overcharging. They even tacked on an extra $3 for me to use my credit card to pay for the service charge. These guys installed my heating/AC unit in the first place, but they'll never set foot in any of my properties again. If you're reading this review, you would be a fool to call them for anything.

After Yelp failed to point me in a promising direction, I did a quick search on the BBB website and called the only nearby business with BBB membership and an almost flawless service record-- AA Mechanical . I received an incredibly quick response from AA Mechanical. They quoted the price upfront ($160 for 1/2 hour to figure out what the problem was and to fix it if it was minor) and gave me an accurate estimate of when the technician would arrive. An hour and a half after my original phone call a friendly, efficient, professional, and knowledgeable technician rang my doorbell. He solved the problem right away and was even very patient when my landlord showed up with a ton redundant questions just as he was finishing up. The technician patiently explained the problem and demonstrated what he was talking about to ease my landlord's mind. He avoided the temptation to push what would have been an easy sale of a new, and possibly unnecessary, heating system and didn't charge extra for the additional time he spent explaining things to my landlord. Although this was my first experience with calling a heating technician, I was extremely pleased. I would definitely call AA again in the future if I have any problems.

Let me start by saying that Walter was very fast and arrived on time (a little early in fact) in…read morethe northern part of Chicago, which was appreciated. He finished the job and got it done, which is what needed to be done. That being said, I must say that I was extremely displeased in the attitude and the overall rip off job that was ultimately performed. Walter's attitude from the moment he stepped into my house was that of someone that is doing you a favor and not of a business transaction. It was a Saturday and he made it very clear that he was taking time out of his weekend to be here. If you're in the business of repairing a furnace, either work the weekend during your busy season or don't. I don't care, it's up to you, but you don't need to be a prick about it especially since it's your own business. I have to work weekends too and know its part of my job. He had the choice to be there, no one forced him. $125 diagnostic fee. Ok, I get it, you need to be paid for your visit. No worries. $600 for replacement part and labor, plus the original diagnostic fee, so total of $725. Total labor time of 1.3 hours (which included the diagnostic time). Total cost of replacement part $60 (brand new on Amazon). Let's do the math here. Even if he marks up the part to $100, he's charging me $417/hour for labor. Unless you have no other choice, I'd go elsewhere. I would have given 1 star but for the fact that he got the job done.

While inspecting the excessive noise from the furnace they installed, their technician discovered…read morethat their installers had left a melted screwdriver (see attached photo) inside the unit during the original installation. The tech that came out to fix my furnace - again because it was making a loud noise - simply put a long green metal pole jammed up against the chimney to dampen the noise(see attached photo). That was his solution ha. Then they paired the new AC with an undersized return, so it can't move enough air. The evaporator freezes with any normal air filter, and the only way to keep it running is by using the cheapest, least restrictive filter possible thus compromising air quality. And then in that same newly installed AC system the foil-faced insulation inside the air handler came unglued and detached, falling against the evaporator coil and restricting airflow. Absolute F tier quality work. Surprised they're still in business. They're impossible to get ahold of; techs that do show up are overworked and don't give a crap. All of these problems still exist to this day and everything is still under warranty but tired of them coming to my house and half fixing the problem only to call them again and again. All in this cost me about $12,000. Avoid at all costs. Good luck.
