I had a list of electrical things that needed to be done, but what got me moving was a circuit breaker flipped and wouldn't go on again--most of our overhead lights wouldn't work. I called Daniel and he was able to come out that afternoon. The switch worked when he flipped it on (of course), but he said it was probably a short and had us turn on, one at a time, all of the switches in the house that hadn't been working when the circuit breaker first flipped. We narrowed it down to an outdoor carriage light. He discovered that the fixture housing had been improperly reinstalled and had nicked the wires and they were shorting out. He was able to wrap them with electric tape and everything worked again.
For the last couple of years our front door light would go out after being on for 10 minutes or so. I thought it was the fixture. Turns out Daniel knew it was because we had an old type of light bulb. As soon as I replaced the bulb, the light stayed on.
Our hard-wired smoke alarm had been making unusual noises (not chirping for a battery change). I tried replacing the battery anyways, but that didn't work. He checked it out and cleaned it , but the final advice was that we were about 10 years overdue to replace the unit! He got it working for the short term and told us to buy a new one--they last 10 yrs.
He looked at a couple of other items and gave me advice on what I could do to update/replace them.
He was very professional and clearly knew a lot about his trade. He could have taken advantage of these relatively simple fixes but he didn't. His bill was very reasonable considering all the things he took time to pull apart and fix. I will call him again, for sure. read more
