In fact,…read moreI absolutely loathed the idea of going to the dentist, and have put off having a lot of work done because of that fear. Given that I was having some of the worst pain I have had in my life, I caved, and called Glendale Dental Associates at 2:10 pm, explained my situation and they told me they could see me at 3pm...as a new patient. (AWESOME). I got there and all of the front desk/admin staff were really nice and friendly, then got in back and the hygienist was really awesome and nice, and she was totally in tune with keeping my pain free...bringing me cold water (the only thing that made my tooth feel better, etc). Then Dr. Cho came to take a look at me, and he was a super nice and down to earth guy, he didn't lecture me on my history of not visiting the dentist very often, lack of flossing, etc. His main goal was getting me out of the writhing pain that I was in. He laid out the plan of attack with two options, explained both, and was actually able to extract my tooth with the plan of replacing it with an implant shortly after. The procedure was painless, and Dr. Cho did a great job...and again...the whole staff was super nice the whole time. I had a preconceived notion, that when I finally did have to go to the dentist, that they would lecture me about the state of my mouth, that it would be super painful, and it would be cold and impersonal....(I had experienced this in the past)....but this experience couldn't have been more opposite.

The chain told me I needed a filling ... turns out I don't. Very nice, professional staff at this office. They advise you on what you need to do better, flossing or brushing, but not in a preachy way. The doctor reminds me a bit of a "mad scientist" but he is really nice and puts you at ease. I've not had any major dental work here yet, but I believe I can trust them to do a great job when I do.

Dr. Larry Pauley originally purchased his practice from a family friend of mine in the early 2000's. Our family friend had been my dentist since birth, and since I value my teeth, I was initially concerned with having a new practitioner. However, I, along with the rest of my family, have been overly impressed with the services offered by Dr. Pauley. Getting an appointment with him is a breeze; the office staff is extraordinarily friendly and organized; his dental assistants and hygienists are dedicated professionals, and the practice seems to incorporate all the latest dental technologies. Dr. Pauley seems to know all of his patients--and he goes out of his way to make sure that they are satisfied with the level of care which they receive. To my knowledge, Carmel Advanced Dentistry accepts most major dental plans. When the cost of services is beyond the scope of insurance coverage (in other words, when the patient has to pay out-of-pocket), the practice does not overcharge. I also know, from personal experience, that Carmel Advanced Dentistry makes every effort to establish a reasonable payment plan with their patients if they are unable to satisfy their entire bill at the point of service. This, of course, is entirely at the discretion of the practice; I'm cannot guarantee that payment plans are permitted in every case. Dr. Pauley is a dentist with a lot of years ahead of him. I needed braces and unless I went with veneers that would carve my own teeth down to nubs (!!!), there wasn't much else that could be done. She was also very frank about bleaching processes. I was disappointed to hear the bad news especially after already having had braces twice in my life. She recommended an orthodontist she trusted and that was it. So why the 5 star review?
