One day this Park will look very different. Just a few years ago there wasn't even a paved path, but now there is a short paved area that leads you to a few trails around the park. They are in the process of adding a dog park and I believe some other park enhancements as well. I see a lot of people using the trails for biking, but we have just used it for some social distancing friendly outdoor time with the pups. We rarely encounter anyone else back there so it is nice to just casually stroll and enjoy the fresh air. The Park is tucked back in a residential area. I wouldn't know anything about it if it weren't for my friends who live in the attached neighborhoods. There is limited parking, but more street parking available in the nearby neighborhoods. Bring your own poop bags for your pups. You should obviously be doing this anyways- but it's still worth noting. There are a few bag stations, but mine never poops near one. There isn't a map to my knowledge, but the trail loop we take is about a mile long. The nice thing about a lot of parks in Virginia Beach, you can't get too lost. Once you've hit the water you can typically find your way back to the real world pretty easily. The views here aren't particularly scenic, but it's a nice escape from urban life and people.

Marshview Park & Natural Area is a moderate to large park. It has been recently updated and boasts a playground, open field, dog parks, pavilions, and paved walking trail through part of its wooded and marshy areas. The park is very clean overall. 4.5* rounding up. -- The Playground -- The main playground area with wood chip mulch is best for elementary school aged and even middle school aged children. The equipment is in like new condition; with close supervision it can work for younger children (note that there are gaps in the openings along the playground system), but the slides are pretty high. As an adult, I thought the slides were great, but my toddler (on my lap) was a bit nervous. There are baby/toddler swings, one intermediate swing, and regular swings. The playground is in full to partial shade depending on the time of day. -- Mini Play Areas -- Separate from the main playground, there is an open field with a paved walking path around it (also accessible from the wooded walking path) with 3 small play areas aimed at children aged 2 to 5. Each one has a faux tree truck that can be climbed on, a stationary animal sculpture that kids can climb/pose on, and another activity (faux stacked rocks, a mini swing, leaf-shaped steppingstone activity). These areas also have wood chip mulch and a bench. -- Benches & Pavilions -- There are numerous pavilions with single picnic tables beneath them, located by the main playground, along the perimeter of the open field, and inside the wooded area along the paved walking path. There are several trash cans. There are a few benches along the perimeter of the playground and one at each mini play area. -- Walking Areas -- There seems to be one main paved walking path/trail that runs through the wooded area and seems to be about a half-mile long. It links up to the open field and the mini play areas as well as the dog parks. There are other short paved paths along the outside of the open field and short paved paths connecting the parking lots to the nearest feature (main playground, open field, dog parks). The overall natural area is much larger than just what is accessible by the paved path, but if you keep to the path, it's easy to navigate. -- Sporting Equipment -- There are no other equipment options other than the playground and mini play areas. -- Amenities -- There is a portable toilet near the dog parks, but there is no restrooms with plumbing, which is not ideal for a long visit. The City has identified this as a possible expansion for the park in the future, but it's currently unfunded. -- Parking -- There are at least three small parking lots specific to this park. The address listed on Yelp is the location nearest the main playground. -- Things to Note -- During peak times, it's usually very busy with kids and has quite a few people walking or biking on the paved path. It's close to a marsh (hence the name), so mosquitoes might be an issue in warmer weather. -- Takeaways -- This is an excellent city park and natural area. The main attractions are the paved walking paths, playground, and dog parks. I just wish they had a restroom with plumbing and it would make a perfect all-day place to visit!

This is by far my most favorite park to walk in the mornings with the puppy. There is never many people on the trails or path and if there is anyone on it they are super friendly! It is not a big trail by any means but if your looking for a nice quite spot to walk and gather your thoughts....this is that spot. There is no map, but the paved trail is about 1/2 mile long. It leads to other dirt trails and you can get some good leg work in on them. All of the trails lead back to the paved path, but some do get kinda confusing when your trying to find your way back, as a lot of paths split off from each other. I always bring my own poop bags for the dog, but they do have stations on the paved path that are always well stocked with the trash cans never overflowing. It is exceptionally clean and never any trash spotted on any of the paths. This trail would be good for walking, running, and biking.

Nice urban park tucked away in a residential area. You can walked on a straight paved path that ends at another little park with kids playground. There are also unmarked trails through a small forest the abuts a marsh. Small free parking lot.

But I didn't come for the cuteness of the pups, we came for the food lol. I have the chicken tacos and the fry flight. My son had the poodle dog with grilled onions and peppers with cheese sauce. He said it was very good wish I'd gotten him two. The guys who helped us were really nice guy's. The service was a bit of a wait, when we first came they told us it would be a 30 minute wait because the kitchen was a little backed up. Would come back to try some other things, the fry's were pretty good. I didn't really care for the chicken tacos. They were kinda just thrown together. But overall I'd come again.

When I arrived I walked to the back, and it was a cute setup for all our little furry friends to have fun, but for adults and kids to. There were lawn chairs, picnic tables, games, a side for leashed and unleashed dogs, and even a little wet area for the pups. It was also a bar/restaurant where you could eat inside or outside. The dogs aren't allowed in the inside part of the restaurant. The restaurant has hot dogs, sausages, Mac n cheese, burgers, tacos, and etc. The meals are reasonably priced. The hot dogs are thick, so your not getting a wimpy hot dog, it's meaty!! Lol. It might have been too much meat for me almost. You definitely get your money's worth!! The Mac n cheese was pretty good and cheesy, and the portion was great for the price. The fries we ok also. The area is really a vibe. It's chill and everyone is doing their own thing. They even have pup cups!! The dogs all seemed to be having a good time. When you walk in the smell of dogs hits you, but I don't have a dog so maybe that's why it's so strong. If you have a dog you probably won't even notice. Once I got used to that, it was fine. I think this is a fun little place to come wether you have a dog or not. Beer and alcohol are also served. The cocktails seem fun. My friend liked her spicy mango drink. The staff was also friendly! So yeah, check them out!!!!

While there is a shaded area with picnic tables, I kind of wish that the dog park had a few more trees for more shade, but that is a very minor complaint. Since the park is maintained by PETA, there is a lot of PETA messaging (e.g., why crating dogs is "bad") in certain parts of the park. Although I disagree with some of the messaging, it did not negatively impact my visit.

On top of giving your dog a great play space, you can actually enjoy watching the cruise ships go by, which makes it a really unique spot. The park is divided into two sections: one side for small dogs and one for larger dogs. I love that they've thought of the details--there are two little kiddie pools with running water, so you can refresh them as needed. It's always clean, well-maintained, and has a few toys out for the pups to enjoy. Another plus is that it's not usually overcrowded, which makes it much more relaxing for both dogs and owners. The surrounding neighborhood is gorgeous (and honestly, I'd love to live there if it were in my budget!). All in all, Bea Arthur Dog Park is a wonderful place to bring your pup for some exercise, playtime, or just to enjoy the views. Definitely one of Norfolk's dog-friendly treasures!

Only portapotty available for bathroom facilities which I guess is normal for the smaller parks in the area. The path is clean and nice but there are bicycles and other wheeled vehicles sharing the walking path. There were birds using the lake but I didn't see any sign of any fish or life in the lake so I am not sure if there are fish or anything else in the lake. I went to the right to start my walk and I am not sure if that was the wrong way but it seemed everyone was going the other way or it was just that I didn't catch up to anyone ahead of me so it looked like I was the only one walking my way. I took my walk on a supposed warm day but the weather changed and it was a little cold so I had to walk a little quicker than expected. There were people jogging the path, walking their dogs, and just sitting by the lake. There are lots of wooden pierlike structures that get you close to the water but like I said before, no signs of fish as far as I could see.
