But I didn't come for the cuteness of the pups, we came for the food lol. I have the chicken tacos and the fry flight. My son had the poodle dog with grilled onions and peppers with cheese sauce. He said it was very good wish I'd gotten him two. The guys who helped us were really nice guy's. The service was a bit of a wait, when we first came they told us it would be a 30 minute wait because the kitchen was a little backed up. Would come back to try some other things, the fry's were pretty good. I didn't really care for the chicken tacos. They were kinda just thrown together. But overall I'd come again.

When I arrived I walked to the back, and it was a cute setup for all our little furry friends to have fun, but for adults and kids to. There were lawn chairs, picnic tables, games, a side for leashed and unleashed dogs, and even a little wet area for the pups. It was also a bar/restaurant where you could eat inside or outside. The dogs aren't allowed in the inside part of the restaurant. The restaurant has hot dogs, sausages, Mac n cheese, burgers, tacos, and etc. The meals are reasonably priced. The hot dogs are thick, so your not getting a wimpy hot dog, it's meaty!! Lol. It might have been too much meat for me almost. You definitely get your money's worth!! The Mac n cheese was pretty good and cheesy, and the portion was great for the price. The fries we ok also. The area is really a vibe. It's chill and everyone is doing their own thing. They even have pup cups!! The dogs all seemed to be having a good time. When you walk in the smell of dogs hits you, but I don't have a dog so maybe that's why it's so strong. If you have a dog you probably won't even notice. Once I got used to that, it was fine. I think this is a fun little place to come wether you have a dog or not. Beer and alcohol are also served. The cocktails seem fun. My friend liked her spicy mango drink. The staff was also friendly! So yeah, check them out!!!!

I ended up parking near the basketball courts. There were many people at the park but there was still lots of available parking around. I saw people playing basketball, soccer, kites, football, etc. I was surprised they had a horse shoe court that looked like they could have a tournament as there were so many lanes. I walked through the park at first, walked to the dog park, then the pond, then circled back to the forest playground, which was huge! If my kids were little they would have loved this place! They had a stage that could have a small outdoor concert. After checking out the kids' playground, I went for a full walk around the park and realized there were 9-11 memorials, military gold star family memorials, and other patriotic displays along with huge flag in the middle of the park. There were areas to have picnics, exercise areas, and lots of open space for pets and kids and any outdoor activities. There were two bathroom areas at opposite sides of the park. One near the kids playground and the other near the skate park. I did about 1.5 loops around the park before leaving. I didn't like that there were people smoking weed in their cars and the smell was pretty strong. But overall the park is nice and perfect for family outings and a day out in the sunshine.

While there is a shaded area with picnic tables, I kind of wish that the dog park had a few more trees for more shade, but that is a very minor complaint. Since the park is maintained by PETA, there is a lot of PETA messaging (e.g., why crating dogs is "bad") in certain parts of the park. Although I disagree with some of the messaging, it did not negatively impact my visit.

On top of giving your dog a great play space, you can actually enjoy watching the cruise ships go by, which makes it a really unique spot. The park is divided into two sections: one side for small dogs and one for larger dogs. I love that they've thought of the details--there are two little kiddie pools with running water, so you can refresh them as needed. It's always clean, well-maintained, and has a few toys out for the pups to enjoy. Another plus is that it's not usually overcrowded, which makes it much more relaxing for both dogs and owners. The surrounding neighborhood is gorgeous (and honestly, I'd love to live there if it were in my budget!). All in all, Bea Arthur Dog Park is a wonderful place to bring your pup for some exercise, playtime, or just to enjoy the views. Definitely one of Norfolk's dog-friendly treasures!

It's much larger than I expected and I love the dog park, large green area with the small three children's play areas, paved bike/running trails and the entire area. It's very big and there are several walking/hiking trails inside the main portion of the park spanning several miles and meandering through a wooded area that follows the marsh. It's well-kept and has multiple entrances from the Shadowlawn neighborhoods. -The entrance from VA Ave has a very small parking lot and then street parking. -The entrance from Indian Rd. has a much larger parking lot with plenty of space and opens to the large, green field with 3 separate play areas for toddlers with climbing sculptures in the shape of frogs and caterpillars. Really cute and has a pavilion and circular paved trail around it. -The entrance from Marshview Dr. has a small lot and this is where the dog park area is as well. Two tennis courts here across the street which are part of a small playground/tennis complex called Salt Marsh Park. Last weekend I finally went for a hike inside and covered about 1/3rd of the likable/walkable space. It's gorgeous! It's also neat bc they have it set up for trail bike riding and it's very well marked and laid-out. I came upon some beautiful areas for sitting and enjoying the view. If you haven't ventured here yet you should give it a try - actually pretty impressive in size and option for a neighborhood co-located park.
