Absolutely disgusted with the way I was treated today. Instead of being in a room, I am sitting in the hall way on a bed when rooms 20, 21, and 23 are available. The gentleman who came in AFTER me has been put in room 22. My complaints do not stop there, this gentleman named Terry who is a nurse practitioner in the ER came to see me right as a staff member was trying to give me some information as WHY in the hell I'm in the hall way in the first place, he decided to walk away and help the gentleman who came in after me!! Driving the extra 20 minutes to Folsom is worth it if this is the type of treatment standard Marshall holds itself to! read more

While Marshall Medical Center is capable their billing department is the most incompetent group of morons. I had paid all my charges except one which I was disputing, when sending payment I listed the charges I was paying and stated I was disputing the one charge. They applied my payment first to that charge and refused to address my dispute. Even though I have documents explaining how I wanted my payment to be applied they refused to adjust my billing and address the dispute now saying I have already paid it. These morons are now refusing to acknowledge my correspondence with them and will not return my calls. They obviously have the upper hand in destroying my credit even though I have cancelled checks and documentation. To save my credit I was forced to pay the disputed charge with no response from the morons. BEWARE THEY ARE CROOKS!!! read more

Visiting area when my wife had to be transported by ambulance due to syncope (fainting ) as a result of low blood sugar and low blood pressure. Could not have asked for a better experience considering the situation. Starting in ER and then into regular nursing, all the personnel we came in contact with, without exception, were professional, caring and taking that extra step. Keep up the good work. read more

I spent 5 days at Marshall Hospital with a severe infection. My blood count was so low they thought I was bleeding internally. I had a scope done by a wonderful hospital GI doctor. (Dr. Schneiderman) He was thorough, careful and precise. I was sent back to my hospital room and given something for pain. What happened next, is still beyond my comprehension. I started having severe cramping, level 10 type of pain, I asked for more pain medicine, the hospitalist, not the GI hospital doctor, but the doctor in charge of the patients on the second floor, denied my request. (Dr. Randhawa) I begged the nurse, Emily, to contact the GI doctor, she said she would but never did. I laid on the floor in my hospital room, all night in severe pain, crying. In the end, Marshall did nothing to prevent this from happening again. I filed a complaint and they did nothing. I will NEVER go to this hospital again. The administration at this hospital does nothing to prevent malpractic and negligent care to its patients. I will driving to Folsom from now on. read more

All of the staff in the TCC unit are to be commended ! My mother is 89 and has been an inpatient in the TCC for the last couple of weeks following a bad fall. The nurses and other staff have been absolutely wonderful ! They were very accommodating in every aspect From giving my mom hope and keeping her spirits up to making her special diabetic meals. They've definitely made a bad time a lot more bearable!! read more

Two star review is being generous and only due to the support staff (nurses, food staff, etc, but not the doctors). I am writing this review based upon experiences my wife had, and I therefore shared during her many multiple stays at Marshall. Sadly, they are the closest, and only hospital, in the county. Others are too far away, sadly! Anyway - she was INCORRECTLY diagnosed by the wonderful doctors with having pneumonia, and shingles. The pneumonia turned out to be stage 3 lung cancer and the shingles turned out to be petechia. OMG and WTF!!! If they can't diagnose disease then why do they exist, oh I know because of the money that rolls in. Their chairman is a banker, not an MD, not an RN, but a banker, so that shows where their prime directive leads. But to have a doctor staff that is uncaring (the wife was not visited by a doctor for over three days during a 10 day stay) to have a staff that doesn't respond to a patient(she asked for a physical therapist to help walk her for exercise and was ignored for that 10 day stay) and to have to wait and wait for days to see what they have diagnosed and what treatments will be is absolutely PATHETIC. I already told my wife that if I become ill that she should shoot me before taking me to Marshall. There is an obvious lack of communication between doctors and support staff. Pray you get an RN or LVN that listens and helps, because they are better than the doctors. The communications I talk of should be something necessary in any business. She probably had 4 doctors during her last stay. They never communicated between one another, which was obvious when you would tell one doctor that another doctor wanted to do one thing and this doctor something else. And when this was brought up you are left there hoping that someone makes a decision and PRAY that you will find out what is going on. I told my wife that she, as the patient, was the last person to know what was going on, but then she corrected me and told me I was the last person because she was the one that told me as hospital staff just don't communicate. It is also sad that some of the tenured nursing staff were more knowledgeable than the attending doctors, where do they find these people(doctors)???? All in all, NOT IMPRESSED and hope I die in my sleep before I have to go to Marshall. I could go on and on as the experiences my wife went through staying there for 21 days in not quite a 2 month period are horrendous for a hospital. As others have written the doctors are either unknowing or uncaring, you are an inconvenience to them. To be fair not all, but the vast majority I met and dealt with while with my wife, were that way. And I know from first hand experience that some of these doctors just DO NOT listen. My wife's third trip to the ER I was with her in her ER room. The attending / on staff doctor came in to the room, he asked my wife some questions, which she couldn't understand due to her condition / state at the time so I am answering for her and this BLOWHARD ER doctor completely ignored me, acted as if I wasn't even in the room. I would have given them 0 stars, but the system requires that you give at least one star. I have had two experiences with Marshall and both were terrible. On one occasion I went to the E.R. and the E.R nurses were rude, unprofessional and made inappropriate, personal judgment comments about me that were uninformed and inaccurate I also overheard them openly gossiping and making inappropriate comments about other people (have they heard of HIPAA?). They really need training in appropriate professional conduct. read more

This place is HORRIBLE!!! okay i installed this app just to write a bad review for this place it was so bad! So 2 years ago i come in with severe stomach pain and other symptoms and they tell me "you have gas, here's some pain meds for the pain, go home."the next night I'm in so much pain I'm turning pale white and my boss sends me to mercy in folsom and they admit me immediately and determine i need emergency surgery for my appendix AND my gall bladder!!! Next, 3 weeks ago, i had 11 consecutive days of allergic reactions with worsening hives and no idea why, i went in twice, the 1st time they tell me to take benadryl and go home to follow up with my doc (who has to be booked like a month in advance). The 2nd night i go it takes 6 hours to give me steroids and benadryl. I went in a3rd time with swollen lips, hives and a closing airway and they finally take things seriously and their answer is still "uh, we don't know what is wrong". Then 3 nights ago i go in with tightening and pressure in my neck and chest where i can't lay back or do anything physical without my symptoms getting really bad, they give me pain pills (not what i wanted) and send me home and say "try this, we don't know what's wrong". Same thing the next night except they give me steroids and ativan (no history of anxiety). The next day (today) Idecide to go to mercy folsom since iwas down there and my skin is so pink it's almost purple and hot to the touch and they say "it doesn't seem urgent, your blood pressure is fine. You should take a benadryl and go see your doctor" which i can't see my doctor for 3-5 weeks! Not to mention i told them previous history. The er is becoming a joke. Where's the compassion and effort we pay for? read more

Came in from out of state went into ER the experience was good. Was admitted and the hospitalist or Dr assigned to my case right away didn't get me (but I was so sick I didn't know better). On our way home from South Lake Tahoe our 9.5 month old son became very sick. We stopped at Marshall Medical Center in Placerville. They rushed us right in and with 20 minutes they'd take his vitals, X-rays and viral tests completed. We did still wait close to 2 hours before the doctor saw us but they were understandably busy. i guess your first shift emergency room personal are to busy flirting and playing video games 10 feet from my room while i was in so much pain i was kneeling on the floor.. The young man that was setting there looked at me 3 times and gave a sarcastic smile like i was acting. i was told i would get some ice for my back. I guess the ice was in another building. i hope and pray that the staff on Sunday Morning at 0300 never have to go through what i went through. Yes i walked out on my owen. That young man didn't care for this man or had any companion. i hope some day your hospital needs to explain to there staff when a person walks in at 3 in morning that it isn't a joke. When i guess its OK to bring your phones in and watch shows and laugh while a senior person kneels in pain in eye sight of him i hope and pray that someday he gets a warm hand and a blanket or even a moment to make the patient fill welcome, Not a burden to there flirt and video time. I once served my country unfortunate for your hospital i was in Search and rescue we where all trained that the person that you have in your grasp is in a moral state of helplessness and needs your fool love and care. i do not blame all your staff i feel sorry that these young people have no moral understanding for real life its not a video game. i would be ashamed if my son or daughter treated any one the way your staff treated me that night. It saddens me that i would be jumping over my counter to help my fellow man. I left my old review below so you could all see how much they have grown: As you can see in the below review not only did I despise Marshall but they seriously had hurt me a couple times in the past and caused me to go through more pain and suffering than what was needed for my condition. But the last time I came in I truly believed they saved my life. I had been going to mercy becuase I did not trust marshall. All mercy docs wanted to do was give me CT Scans and nuke my already damaged pancreas. So my wife and I decided to give marshall a shot when I was having an attack again. ER handled everything very quickly and the triage nurse noticed the severity of my pain, checked my blood sugar levels and saw they were through the roof. Mercy never diagnosed me as diabetic due to my pancreas now not producing insulin. Marshall rushed me to a bed, set an IV (first try GREAT JOB!!!) and got me the medication I needed. I fell asleep (or passed out) to find out that I was waking up in the ICU. The nurses still took great care of me once I hit the regular hospital floor. I could not have been happier honestly. I left my old review which was from about 6 months ago up so you people can see that this hospital has definitely turned itself around in the last few months. I couldn't be happier that they are close to me and I will always return there when I am in need of Emergency Medical help. Thank you marshall you guys are awesome!!! Oh and my wife and I just had our first child and the birthing center here WAS THE BEST THING I COULD EVER HAVE IMAGINED!!!! Have your baby here seriously all the nurses were the sweetest things in the freakin world!!!! Old Review: If I could leave a 0 out of 5 I would. From the beginning, if your not in the waiting room for 45 minutes you will be admitted and placed in an ER room where you will not see a doctor for 2+ hours. Nurses will ignore you for this time no matter how bad you are feeling. I have had chronic pancreatitis for 3+ years and been admitted to UC Davis and Mercy hospital and Marshall over 10 times. They know this they have record of this yet they still ignore you when you are suffering. They are beyond rude to your face, (no matter how kind you are) and will continue ignoring you while the gossip about all the other nurses behind your back. Sorry ladies you shouldn't be talking about who got what STD in the nursing department its not professional. And make sure your ER bed is clean, I have never had Staff infection in my life and the first time i was admitted there i contracted it (WEIRD RIGHT???) I also know others who have said the same, also there is usually drops of blood on the floor from the nurses who do not know how to set IV's in this hospital. If you are unfortunate enough to get admitted you will have nurses who will do the LEAST amount of work possible. Once again you can see this on other users reviews. The last time I was there I told the doctor that was seeing me what was going on, pancreatitis inflammation usually last up to a week with intense pain without eating anything for a week, after a nurse ignored me all day with my medication i was in extreme pain and the next nurse came in and brought me two tabs of Tylenol. This place is a joke. I then told them to take out my IV cause I didn't have a nurse all day and I wouldn't have one at home either so it was basically the same thing. So I went home took old pain medication that had been prescribed to me at an earlier date for the same condition and healed up with difficulty at home on my own which took me longer to heal so longer to get back to work. I am strongly considering legal action regarding the possibilities that I have MRSA from this hospital who does not clean their bedding or utensils. As well as the BBB for not taking care of their patients. I strongly recommend any other patients who have been treated wrongly or have any issues do the same. read more

From bad to worse to just plan mean. I am in the er..i had a stroke and im not that old. My son, his dad and i have been here all day. I asked if they could bring my son a Turkey sandwich, which they always do for everyone. They said,"WE DO NOT GIVE FOOD TO PATIENT'S FAMILIES",and she was extremely rude. I told her we live 25 minuted away and i cant buy him anything right now and i dont want them to have to go home. I am very scared and terrified.dont want to be alone.They said i have a bloodclot in my brain. I didn't want to be alone but this nurse didn't care. She acted like she had to buy and make the sandwich herself. So here i am..terrified..and i just watched the nurse give someone else who is NOT a patient a sandwich.. Worse hospital evet..this is just one of many stories about this joke of a hospital...whats good for one should be good for the other..its all about who u know. They are the worst in patient care..in every way..they are rude..crooked..and think theor better then everyone.. read more

Marshall hospital is the worst hospital in all of the greater Sacramento area. There doctors and PA's are terrible. I was involved in an accident several years ago and was originally taken to Marshall hospital from my accident site on HW 50 from Pollock Pines California which is a little town above Placerville were Marshall is located. I was later transported to UC Davis medical center, where I was cared for professionally by high quality and caring cardiac doctors and PA's. I was told by the transporting staff that they have a saying " go to marshall to die, Go to UC Davis to live". I have been in a lot of emergency hospitals in my 55 years of life, as well as military field hospitals on 3 different fronts and Marshall is the LAST place I would ever want to go, and probably would be if you are seriously injured. read more

What a nightmare to try and talk to the Office Manager regarding a billing error. Now that Dr. Solis has left the Cameron Park office for Kaiser, I will be in need of another family doctor OUTSIDE the Marshall umbrella. I have been seeing Dr. Solis for over 10 years and loved him. It will be hard to replace him as a family doctor to my entire family, but will not miss the office staff.....except Kathy, of course. absolute joke. i can't believe male nurse david (something) would treat me like a dumb animal and laugh in my face when asking about my new symptoms and pain levels during my second er visit that week due to prescribed medicine not working correctly. when i called the front desk to ask for anyone else to relieve him, since i felt absolutely stupid and worthless, i was met by the head of nursing staff who, although apologizing, offered only excuses on how he 'wasn't used to this equipment' and 'wasn't supposed to be taking care of me'. and he got right back to 'providing care' for me, albeit with an even sharper tone. if he could've been looking down his nose at me harder, he was. i am appalled that during said visit getting nurse help would be such an incredible hassle. when i was lying on my bed, writhing in pain and holding back tears, mashing my call button to get any sort of response at all, i shouldn't have to behold an upturned nose and grimace, and a disgusted voice asking me why i'm making a face like that. i should not have to feel like i'm an inconvenience to them, or just straight up bothering them. and especially at the end when i was being discharged, my rn (as standard procedure) asked me if i smoke. i confirmed that, yes, i do, i get it; stop its bad for you and all that. she proceeded to lay it into me that if i could only see what happens to someone who keeps up the bad habit, i would quit - to which i let her know that yes, my grandmother had died of lung cancer, right there in the hospital, where unfortunately she had received my same level of apathy and 'care.' i get that its protocol, but she would go on and on for awhile. thats not what i came in there for. i barely got what i came in there for. i only came here due to my sweet mother's recommendation and worry, but now doubly know not to dare breath this place's way, lest i invite in bad jujus. read more

I feel horrible for the handful of patient ,kind nurses that are there. Most of the nurses and Dr.'s are rude and arrogant ( No it alls who like to talk down to you) I'm used to UC Davis and have a medical assisstant cert to start. I also have worked for a Dr. ( a kind one, that understood compassion). Due to the fact that I'm rural; me or 1 of my children often end up here in the Placerville ER for severe colds/ infection and so on. I would go to UC Davis for anything serious ( They are not prepared for certain injuries like burns, or any trauma really. I I have spent many hrs here over the last 6yrs. 1 Dr. in particular is a real A**hole. I've had him twice now. Once for me and my children for ear infections and strep Throat. Another time for Pneumonia. Both times he treated me like an idiot and acted like I had no idea what I or my children had ( Both times I was right). Negative star should be a option because this hospital needs a couple so maybe the staff would be a little more welcoming. The doctors and nurses are very nice its the receptionists that need to act like they dont hate thier jobs and be a little more nice to people. Their faces are the first ones you see and sets the whole mood for your visit. Walked in to get labs and told my paperwork waant here called doc office got the papers resent over , went back up to desk told the lady amd was told go sit down will call when we have a minute. Finally got checked in went up to lab handed my paperwork to front desk lady and with a very bad attitude she tossed a paper at me that almost flew on the floor and said did anypne tell you that we wont be doing routine lab work for walkins anymore you will have to go to another facility. Im sorry but isnt a hospital supposed to do lab work and anything else a person needs. Really sad that this is how I got treated. read more

I have lived in Placerville for over 45 years. I have been to Marshall hospital several times in the early years and was very pleased with their service. I moved away for about 9 years a county over during that time my wife had become terminally ill. We came to Marshall but they could not diagnose Her M/S which finally took her. When I moved back up here I began to have issues with my upper abdomen, several trips to Marshall and no success with what the problem was. My personal Doctor sent me to another hospital to have an MRI which showed a problem with my Gallbladder, a growth on my liver and Avascular Necrosis.I took the X-rays into one of Marshalls Surgeons where he stated that I had some major problems and that we needed to do some exploring inside to see what the first problem that needed the immediate attention. I said OK but I had an appointment with a local Gastro. Doctor for a complete exam. After his exam there was nothing to be found to be causing the pain in my abdomen. I returned to the original surgeon and was refereed to his associate to check out what the problem was with the Necrosis After two expensive X-rays and office visits I was told that the x-rays were not clear enough to really see what was going on but took the time to feel the pulse in my thigh, upper leg and foot and said he did not see a problem but refereed me back to the first Surgeon I had seem, note that he never looked at the original MRI pictures that had already been done and what was found in it. I was sent back for more X-Rays, CT scan, Though we already had the original X-Rays. I was told too just call him on what it showed. During the call he said even though it was not that clear it looked as though the Gallbladder vessel hole was enlarged and I noted that it had been opened about three years ago by another surgeon due to it being too small, at that point he apparently decided to look at the original MRI that he had previously concurred with from another hospital of the Liver and Avascular Necrosis but now said that it shows that my Gallbladder Vessel was enlarged and I told him again that I had the surgery to open it to remind him and that we were suppose to be looking for the original issues I had when first seen. He stated that he did not operate on Gallbladders an that I need to go back to the Gastro. Doctor and have him look at it for surgery to close the opening in the Gallbladder. I realize that Doctors only practice medicine and that curing someone has sort of been shoved to the rear because the more tests you can do more funds are sent from the insurance company. In this case Social Security Disability. I am still living on medication which is also expensive and it becomes very difficult to pay your rent, eat,buy gas to go see the Doctors. Enough is enough hows is a person suppose to live when everything goes to tests and nothing goes to curing. I'm still waiting to have my other knee replaced but again have to wait until I get caught up on my medical bills. I have had 4 of the most expensive x-rays available showing exactly what has been a problem for a long time and now the first X-Ray has changed and according to the MD that reads them everything has changed from then to now. I still have avascular Necrosis, the lump on my liver and the Vessel that was opened up is now larger than the surgery that opened it up made it too large, They guess. So if you are going to Marshall Hospital get ready to have the ,"lets run in circles until you have nothing left to pay for what is wrong" I guess we are getting ready to have our Government decide what tests we can have and I know they are not going to pay for it. What ever happened to caring for your patients? What Happened to making people feel better? When my wife was so weak to go to the hospital because she had so many tubes and equipment it took a crew of para medics to move her, her personal Doctor came to the House and performed the procedures needed to keep her comfortable. And did I sue him for Mal Practice? NO I thanked GOD that there are a few Doctors that truly care for the well being of their patients. read more

My mom had been Marshall patient for years and our recent experience was shocking. She was Dr Tse patient and then was assigned to the nurse practitioner, Jessica Santos, after Dr Tse left. She had been on Warfarin/Coumadin for years for her AF/artificial mitral value and suddenly was told to switch to Xeralto by the nurse practitioner. I told them she has been on Warfarin for years and has done fine and Dr Tse never mentioned that to me/her and if she is even a good candidate for Xeralto. They wouldn't listen to me and told me if we don't go by their recommendations then should leave the Marshall facility and find another doctor outside of the facility. I was also told that the same message came from the board of the medical director for EDH location, Dr Holtry. Her blood range was way below the expected numbers but they didn't even adjust her warfarin dose. I then called her cardiologist office and he agreed that she shouldn't be switched to Xeralto because of her artificial mitral value. I just couldn't believe the way they treated and ignored her health and our concerns. read more
