I am a new patient at Sutter health and am very dissatisfied with my doctor. The receptionists are nice, and I have no complaints about them, but the reason I am giving a one star review is in regards to Dr. Jessica Wall. I made an appointment for my annual physical/new patient, and all went smoothly until I received my bill. I went in, expecting my annual physical, and walked out with a $555 bill (with insurance). I was set up as a new patient and happened to mention a rash I had (it was gone by the time I had my appointment), and Dr. Wall put in the coding to include a diagnosis (even though there was nothing to diagnose). I contacted billing to fix this issue, but they said I'd have to contact my doctor to have her change the coding. I contacted her multiple times, calling the office and having 3 different receptionists send her messages, marked as urgent, to get back to me about this issue. It took a month to finally get a message from Dr. Wall through the message portal. I politely stated my concerns with the coding, seeing if she could change it due to the fact that there was nothing to diagnose on my visit, and therefore should not be coded as a diagnosis. In addition to the coding issue, the $555 included a very high charge of 5 blood work tests. She had asked if I would like blood work done during the appointment, and I agreed, trusting that my doctor would know best as to whether or not I, a healthy 26 year old female, needed it. She only informed me of the one lipid blood work test, so I was surprised to find that I was charged for 4 additional blood work tests. She did not communicate with me properly, to which I mentioned in my message to her. Since the blood work had already been done, I said that I understand if nothing can be done on that matter, however I was hoping that she could at least help with the high price of $310 just for the office visit (not including the $245 that I was charged for the blood work). After all this frustration, she responded to my message saying that she still had to code my visit as a diagnosis simply because I mentioned a rash I previously had, even though it was gone by the time I arrived at her office. It frustrates me that it took a month for her to respond to me about this issue, and that when she did respond, she didn't see what was wrong for being charged $555 for a simple new patient visit with blood work (with insurance), and didn't try to help with fixing the incorrect coding. When chosing a new doctor, I strongly advise you do not go with Dr. Wall, as she doesn't communiate well (taking a month to get back to me after several phone calls to her office), and makes little to no effort in understanding why her patient is frustrated with an outrageous coding issue that lead to a $555 bill. read more
