After waiting ONE YEAR for an MRI on my seriously painful back, after epidurals & opiates, bc the orthopedic doc wouldn't see me without one, I had to call orthopedics & bc they knew me from other ailments, I got a PA appointment so she could order the MRI for me. FINALLY! I don't have a rotator cuff bc the doc I had then waited too long to get me the care I needed. My bad shoulder became worse to where even surgery can't fix it. I asked the doctor if he had gotten me care sooner would I be without a cuff. His answer? PROBABLY (with a shrug like, "yeah, & your point is?") I only go there bc I have to.

I have never seen a place that is so confusing to find and so frustrating due to their being zero signage visible on the outside of the building. My wife and I walked around this stupid complex for about 30 minutes trying to find the medi cal office. When, we would run into an employee outside of the buildings, they would refer us to the front side of the building only to be referred back to the side we started on by the employees we ran into. Typical government facilities.... a little signage that is clearly visible would eliminate the frustration of trying to find the proper building.

I find myself compelled to offer this commentary on my experience at Tahoe Forest Hospital because…read moreI have read some of the reports and cannot believe those people were at the same facility. I am a 94-year-old male adult who believed himself to be in reasonable health for his age. I was visiting family at Donner Lake when I found myself short of breath and the left arm swollen beyond normal. My son drove me to TFH. I entered the emergency room and was immediately seated at the in-take desk. There were two other patients seated in the ER waiting area. My information was recorded quickly and efficiently. I was seated in the waiting area for about 5 minutes before being called to go to the treatment area. The staff helped me get to bed in the ER and shortly I was examined by Dr. Amy Little. We described all my symptoms and she ordered tests. About 20 minutes later she returned and very comprehensively explained that I had problems more serious than I had thought. More exams were ordered and treatment was initiated. Dr. Nicolas Vargas performed a thoracentesis on my left lung cavity and removed 1.15 liters of fluid I did not know was there. This was done in the ER with no pain at all. Dr. Haven Ritchie recommended I be admitted for an overnight stay to make sure there would be no complications from the procedure. She also carefuly outlined other issues about which she had concern in terms that I could understand. By late afternoon I was transferred to a room on the second floor. I was received by Nurse Anne and made most comfortable. I remained in the hospital for another day and a half while they were making sure it was safe for me to travel by air to my home in Arizona. During this time, I was being cared for by Dr. David Richie and Dr. Ann Little. At no time was I left I the dark about my condition. Nurse Anne was extremely attentive and there was nothing I needed that she did not supply immediately. She was the day nurse. I received the same quality care from the night nurse, Amy. I must mention that the quality of the food was excellent. It was more than I could eat and the nurses were very good to me, they allowed me to leave food on my plate. By the third day they had me up and walking in the hall. I was deemed eligible for discharge. The discharge activity was conducted very efficiently. I am so grateful to have had my baby boy here and I truly was sad to leave just because of how amazing all the staff was to me, my husband and baby. One night I was struggling with breastfeeding and the nurses dropped everything and spent about 2 hours with me in the middle of the night to help me figure out what worked best for me and baby. I will forever recommend Marshall Birth Center to anyone that wants to have a hospital birth with as little to as much medical intervention. They are so supportive of your wishes with how you want things to go and if they dont end up going as planned, like in my case, they are very informative walking you through the process so you feel comfortable with the unexpected change.

I tried taking my…read moremom here while she was having an allergic reaction so we called them at 5pm to make sure they were still taking patients (they close at 6pm) and they said they may close early since they are getting a lot of people right now. We informed them that we are less than 3 minutes away since we were already driving there from down the road and they said okay. We get there 3 MINUTES LATER and they LOCKED the doors!! They wouldn't let her in and told her to go to Truckee even though we called and told them she was actively having an allergic reaction. This place is run by heartless people that don't care about patient health.

Everything about my visit was amazingly pleasant and efficient. From submitting the "new patient" forms online, to scheduling that first appointment. When I checked in (a couple of minutes late, after having a minor accident in the car), we were seen immediately and both the nurse and doctor who assessed my child (for a full physical) were extremely friendly and caring with my anxious boy. Also, thank you to the police officer downstairs who gave my son a sticker and really made his day!
