My mom is dying from Glioblastoma brain cancer-doctors dont know when she will go, but she wanted…read moreto do radiation and chemo. With her decline in physical and mental capabilities and being on Medicare, we admitted her to The Pines in Placerville. Overall, our experience with them has no complaints. Initially, she wasn't very happy to be there because of the differences compared to her private room at the hospital. However, I cannot fault The Pines for that, especially with how the staff treated her and our family. I have worked in a couple dozen nursing homes of various skill and funding levels; all over California and a few in Nevada. I knew what to expect from a place that we weren't paying thousands of dollars a month out of pocket for. I too, was nervous the first night she was transferred there. It can be loud; and there's alot of activity and my mom felt at times she wasn't receiving "service" as promptly as she would've liked. With that said, I very quickly began to know the staff personally and they were all friendly, professional and accommodating. It's very busy there-there is alot of residents and patients who were more worse off in ways than my mother and were far more demanding and not nice about it. The stress on the staff is alot. Yet, overall they handle it like pros. My mother was there just under two weeks before she unfortunately had to go back to the hospital and will probably not leave it alive. While she cannot personally express her feelings about The Pines, I spent everyday there, many times for most of the day and at all different times so I can speak from first hand experience: I know the reviews from others and the reputation this place has. The Director, Colby, you can tell is working very hard to turn that reputation around. The staff works very hard and I pray for their continued strength and determination in what they are doing because it is not an easy job and at times-maybe many times-seems thankless and unrewarding. Just know that for this family, you took an already difficult and emotional period of our lives and were able to ease this portion and truly give help when it was desperately needed. Special shout outs to Amy, Mikala, Colleen, Mai, Abraham, Maura, Michelle, Kelsey, Britni, Bill, Christina, Stephen, Samantha and so many more there that I can't remember your name or didn't catch it when we met: I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you did for my mother. If she was capable of it, I know she would personally express how thankful and appreciative she was for your care, concern and dignity during this very difficult time of her life.

I found out the "patient advocate" was sharing my information (diagnoses, first and last name), with members of the general public-- which got back to me. Was not addressed by the dept of health and human services. Found out from others that they do not address civil rights violations or abuse by county workers, including complaints I filed in 2024. They Hire LMFT's who state they "never heard of LPS" and violate patient rights. Refuse to provide full medical records to patients or their conservators. Do not understand Civil Rights, and violate them when it comes to mistaking medical problems for mental health issues. Very bad culture towards "mental health patients". Have experienced changes to insurance without permission or authorization. Very poor care, very poor quality doctors psychiatrists, mis-use billing codes, and misinterpret billing codes. Very scary personal experiences I had in 2024. Made all my problems worse. Ruined family life when they lied to my family members about my diagnoses, and lied to me about my family members.

So five visits overall,…read moreand the other times were excellent and on time, but having an afternoon procedure I don't recommend. I'm hungry and thirsty because you can't eat or drink 8 hours before your procedure. I got here on time, but of course they are behind schedule saying some people came in out of sequence. What does that mean? Sigh. I appreciate being taken in on time and not made to sit around getting nervous. I still give this place, the nurses and the doctors high ratings, but I'm upset when they can't keep at least close to the schedule. It's not fair, it sucks, and this shouldn't happen. But, after I was taken in having waited and hour and 15 minutes, they explained how sometimes these things get thrown off due to complications etc. I want to thank the nurses and staff there for being awesome. Great place overall When I was brought in for my procedure I had really only waited about 1 1/4 hour. The nurse asked me how I was and I said, "Angry, I was told to be here at 1:15 for a 1:30 procedure, and I've been sitting here steaming I suppose, but now that you are taking me I'm over it." Lol, why do I do that to myself jeez! She apologized and explained how sometimes surgeries go longer than expected, and that this morning one surgery went an hour over. I too apologized and said I totally understood. Anyway, they are great in there and everything went perfect. Doctor Jarka is awesome, and I really appreciate his help. Keep it up El Dorado Surgery!
