So here is exactly how my experience went with this office.....
The very first time I met Dr. Gordon, she walks in with no introduction of who she is, her face mask is covering half of her face and she just starts talking about the baby and the pregnancy. There is no formal, "Are you Teryn? Hi, I'm Dr. Gordon, nice to meet you," which has been my experience ANY other time I meet a doctor for the first time. Especially when this person is going to be delivering my baby. I honestly wasn't sure if she was the nurse or who she was, since she didn't introduce herself. I simply had to gather that she was the doctor because she started to ask more questions like a doctor would. My husband and I left the appointment both agreeing that was strange and awkward. Where is the bedside manner?
Then, most recently, I was supposed to have an in person appointment that I needed to reschedule. When I called in and asked if I could move it to the following day, they suggested doing a Tele-health appointment over the phone instead. I thought that was strange. This is my once a month appointment at this stage of my pregnancy. Covid or not, don't you need to check the baby's heartbeat? Check that there's no protein in my urine? But instead, they were suggesting to just do a phone call. I thought it was strange, but I agreed because we were heading out of town for the weekend anyway. So, we set up the tele-health call for the following day at 11:30 am. It was on their calendar and on mine.
No one called me.
I was so busy on my end and packing to go out of town, that I just let it go and decided I would check in the following week. There was even a brief moment that I thought, "Maybe I had missed their call or maybe another one of my children had my phone when they called....surely they called me, right!?" Well, we went out of town and I decided to deal with it the following week.
So I call the following week to inquire... I tell the receptionist that I'm pretty sure no one called me and sure enough, she agreed that indeed, no one called me. She immediately went on to suggest another tele-health call, but let's remember that it's now been close to five or six weeks since my last in person visit and also, I still want to get to the bottom of why no one called me on our agreed to date and time?? When I pressed for why no one called me, she totally blew me off and basically said "she had no idea why" with a tone in her voice that could care less. Then, I told her it felt very unprofessional and that it made me feel very uncomfortable to have my baby in their office. She said, "No problem," with again a tone that could care less.
So, I have now left their office and will be starting up with another very well-known doctor in Folsom that was a referral from a good friend. This isn't my first rodeo. This is my fifth child, with four previous deliveries in the Bay Area......all with amazing doctors and experiences, and I refuse to accept anything less than an amazing experience. This was certainly not one. read more
