I was first seen by Dr. Haskins at 38 weeks when my baby was breech, and I was recommended for an external cephalic version. Both she and her office staff were amazing about getting me in very quickly. Upon meeting Dr. Haskins, I was instantly comforted by her thorough explanations, years of experience, and calm, reassuring demeanor. Despite the stress of having a breech baby, and my own worst fears about the procedure, she made me feel safe and secure at each step of the process. On the day of the version, she helped both my husband and I feel at ease. The external version itself was nothing short of amazing. Dr. Haskins was incredibly skilled, and after a few very short, painless minutes, my little one was turned head down. I found the procedure to be very easy, and would absolutely ask Dr. Haskins to do it again if I ever have another breech baby. My husband and I were both very impressed and comforted by the precision, confidence, and care that Dr. Haskins showed during the version. Additionally, all the staff at Mercy Folsom were also incredibly kind and gave great attention to our care. Thanks to Dr. Haskins, I was able to have the natural, unmedicated birth of my daughter just a few short weeks later. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Haskins to anyone looking for a great OBGYN and am so grateful for her care. read more

Wonderful caring Doctor and terrific staff. Excellent communication before, during and after care.

I began seeing this doctor in the first trimester of my pregnancy. At first, I felt that everything was great. Both the doctor and the nurse practitioner seemed attentive and caring and took the time to have conversations with me. However, in the last couple of months I have felt that my visits are rushed and I don't really feel cared for during the most vulnerable time of my pregnancy. The front office staff changed and she ranges from rude to awkward at best. When I call no one answers, across 3 out of 4 office calls within the last three weeks. And no answering machine. The nurse practitioner, Jennifer Toth, made me feel very silly for calling about being short of breath. Her advice was to see my primary care doctor to get back on anxiety meds. That's what I need, ANOTHER doctor appointment while I'm pregnant. And I had already told her I was against medication while pregnant. When I told her I wasn't testing my glucose due to it remaining low on a consistent basis with diet restrictions, she was super passive aggressive and made me feel awful. This is a decision I made with the person they referred me to for gestational diabetes. So I am not sure why she had the attitude. The doctor and nurse practitioner don't seem to communicate. Almost everything is handwritten. Their online messaging system is archaic and doesn't always work. I messaged the doctor about scheduling my induction, which she had suggested, a week ago and have not heard back. I have also called the office about this same topic and have not heard back. I'm due in two and a half weeks. I will say that Dr. Haskins is very nice, attentive, and informative. I really do like her. But I rarely see her. I think she may just be too busy. Also, the women who check my weight and blood pressure are always super nice as well. I'm just disappointed in the overall experience. read more

I am about to have my 3rd baby under Dr Haskins' care. My baby remained in breech position even until 37 weeks and she suggested to do an ECV (External Cephalic Version). I was told by peers, family, and nurses that this would be painful. Dr Haskins assured me that her method would be painless. I trusted her lead and indeed she is right. Was it uncomfortable? Sure it was. But it was indeed without pain and it was a quick procedure. A successful procedure! I am blessed to have my baby and myself under her care. Highly recommend read more

My primary care doctor referred me to Doctor haskins due to an issue that came up on a pap. The staff was friendly and checked me in quickly. Doctor Haskins was kind and gentle during the exam. Afterward, she had me meet her in her office and explained everything to me in great detail. She even drew pictures for me. I really appreciated that she took the extra time to make sure I understood everything. I highly recommend her. read more

Just had my 1st visit with Dr. Haskins and I am very happy. She was very thorough and personal, answered all my questions. She made me really confortable talking about personal and private stuff. I recently moved to the area during my 3rd trimester and my insurance only covered a few OBs in the area under my plan. I called Dr. Haskins office to make sure they took patients at my gestation age - they did. I was so thankful because that had been the biggest hurdle in finding a provider. Then, I made sure they took my insurance and medical group. They did, but then proceeded to tell me how much extra work it is for them to bill my insurance plan and they didn't want to have to do all that billing. Ultimately turning me down as a patient in desperate need of a provider to delivery my baby in the next few weeks. Patient care is not at the forefront of their practice. read more

I was traveling for work and unfortunately had to make an unexpected visit to the ER at Dignity Health Hospital in Folsom. Dr. Ruth Haskins was the OB on call and assisted in my emergency laparoscopy. Although the entire ordeal was scary and there were a lot of uncertainties, the time she spent explaining what she saw in the ultrasound and the procedure she would have to do, eased our minds. She was thorough in all her explanations and answered any and all questions we had. It wasn't ideal to have to go to the ER while out of town but the staff at Dignity Health and the professionalism/attentiveness that Dr. Ruth showed exceeded our expectations. She wasn't just playing the role of a doctor; she made herself available to us and was a reliable and comfortable presence in the midst of the chaos. She provided a full write up that described every aspect of the surgery as well as specific follow up procedures. She spent the time to show my husband and I all the photos taken during the surgery and explained every step she took the day of my discharge. She also provided her direct office number in case we had follow up questions. As soon as we got home, our local doctors office called to confirm they had received all the information regarding what took place. Dr. Ruth was timely in getting this over to them and it caught us off guard because of her willingness to go above and beyond. She also personally called me several days after the surgery to check in and to explain the results of a pathology test that had been done. Some doctors can be stoic; they work with various patients on a daily basis and treat you like a stranger, because that's essentially what you are. But not Dr. Ruth. She gave us an aura of familiarity and empathy, she cracked a couple of jokes that made us laugh and truly showed us some good 'ol TLC. One resounding memory from my ordeal was prior to going to the OR for my surgery. Dr. Ruth asked what type of music I listened to. I told her Ed Sheeren and in the midst of the pain and fright, she played a song of his on her phone which comforted me as I was lulled to sleep with the gentle anesthesia. Now, if only, Dr. Ruth lived in Los Angeles... We will forever be grateful to Dr. Ruth. read more

The receptionist at Ruth Haskins office are terribly unprofessional and rude. They will hang up in you and treat you poorly. And Ruth Haskins is condescending and does not have good bedside manner. Find another OBGYN if you want your baby an you to be safe and healthy. read more

I've been going to Dr Haskins office since 2000 when I was 12 and had to have surgery for cysts. Since then I have lived out of state and flown in every year for my yearly check ups. I had a cyst rupture last week while on an airplane, was taken off the flight by ambulance and haven't been feeling well since and wanted to try to get in to see her ASAP. I flew in and saw my Primary Care Dr today (who got me in on a same day appointment) and he of course recommended I see her. The office didn't have any appointments today, or tomorrow but asked me to send my imaging over... So I was optimistic, but for nothing. I guess being a patient for over 20 years doesn't mean anything anymore. It would have be nice if the Dr. I come to see from out of state could have taken a moment to review my ultrasound results or even come out and maybe eased my mind about the continuation of pain I've been having since the rupture. The office didn't even let me know when the next available appointment would be. Just told me she wasn't available and didn't even try to get me on the schedule... 22 years I have recommended this office but I will no longer do so and I know several family and friends that go here because of me and they will find somewhere else after hearing about this. Guess I'll have to suffer and get my women exams in Texas where they could care less about women's reproductive health. read more

Terrible office staff and service! Just moved to Folsom and waited over a week with no call back to see if Dr. Haskins would accept my insurance. I had to call 3 times just to help them figure out what they should have known right away. I finally get an appointment set and its over 3 weeks out when I specifically said I needed to get in as soon as possible. The day before my appointment they called to cancel. I have never had this much trouble getting in to see a Dr. As much as I would like to see how awesome Dr. Haskins is, its not worth wading through the BS. Called another local Ob-Gyn office and got in the very next day. read more

Terrible office staff. But if you can get past the front office gauntlet of incompetence, Dr. Haskins may well be the best doctor you'll ever visit. She is very easy to talk to, thoroughly professional and knowledgeable. She does not just spit out medical establishment pabulum, and is understanding of those who legitimately question the need for certain procedures that most other GYN doctors seem to consider mandatory. As the husband of a patient, I appreciated her welcoming attitude and the manner in which she involved me in my wife's treatment. (My wife's first language is not English, so at her request, I attend with her when she has an important meeting). If it were any other doctor, the issues we've encountered with her office staff would be reason enough to look elsewhere. In her case, it is worth putting up with their nonsense in order to receive care from this very fine doctor. read more

Dr Haskins Dr. Haskins is exceptional. She was recommended to me for OB care by several doulas and hospital staff. I chose her and the hospital she delivers at because of her, after meeting with 5 previous providers. I did this despite her location being 6 hours away. What's to love is too much to write here. She goes above and beyond and personalizes care to tailer to individual needs in ways that medical school can't teach; it's just who she is and how proficient and caring she is. She understood what I needed psychologically, physically, medically and has quick innovative ideas to put any worry at ease. She also has a delightful sense of humor. I didn't expect to feel as relieved as I did when I found her late in my first pregnancy, but I was able to instantly trust her. I had the best hospital delivery I could have thought possible and I know that was largely because of her as well as the fact that she works very closely with the hospital staff (so even though they were strangers to me on admit they knew a lot about me and honored my birth preferences). It would be hard to find a more qualified doctor, too. She is, not surprisingly, where other local MDs and their families receive care. Thank you Dr. Haskins for your Air Force service, your professional leadership, and your outstanding medical care to us and so many others. read more

New patient appt. Unfortunately, working as a healthcare provider myself for over 25 years, I can call out GREAT patient care a mile away and I can also call out "enough to check the box to say I provided patient care" a mile away. My appt was with the MD whom I never met... saw the NP only. Most practices consult with the patient about seeing an NP instead of the MD. The change of provider was never addressed. I made the appointment to a new office for a number of REASONS that actually have some gravity and which I have been procrastinating with follow up for at least a couple of years. I was never asked why I was there and with the few attempts I made to explain, it was clear that really the NP had specific chart items to fill out and an annual pap to get out of the way......her assessment kept going a completely different direction than what I went to discuss and accomplish. I left feeling like the actual knowledge, competence and quality that I would expect from "experts" in the field was totally lacking. "Team" approach to care is ideal and can work great when the quality component is robust. Unfortunately patient satisfaction is a direct reflection of quality care. In this situation the "team" approach is less than the standard expected. Totally disappointed. Will be looking for alternate provider recommendations. read more

I saw dr haskins for my previous pregnancy, which was also my first. I called the office when I noticed some spotting and was really concerned, being my first pregnancy I had no idea what to expect and what was uncommon. When I called them they didn't even tell me to come in and get checked out, just that bleeding is normal and call them again if it gets worse. My pregnancy ended a week later before my next appointment even came. Now I am currently pregnant again and experienced the same bleeding, I informed my new doctor and they performed an immediate ultrasound and informed me that I had a subchorionic hemorrhage and placed me on bed rest. I couldn't believe the difference in approach to my concerns, Dr haskin's office didn't seem to care AT ALL that I was concerned with my bleeding and sort of just brushed me aside, I even called her HOURS before my miscarriage in tears with pain and complaints of bleeding and she told me to use a freakin hot pad, never once suggested I go to the emergency room. Now, I realize there was probably nothing they could have done to prevent a miscarriage, but she never even mentioned to me that I could have a subchorionic hemorrhage and how to care for it or even tell me to seek medical attention. My new ob also went over SEVERAL things with me about prenatal care that Dr. Haskins office never mentioned either, things as simple as STAY AWAY FROM CAT LITTER she didn't even go over. ZERO patient education and ZERO sensitivity to first time mothers. I will never go back again. read more

I was quite disappointed with Dr. Haskins during my second pregnancy. First of all, she seems to rush through my appointment. After that, I was seen by NP Jennifer. She couldn't answer any questions for us. She couldn't even tell me the time for my scheduled c-section. Her response was always: "You can ask Dr. Haskins on your next visit." Sadly, I never saw Dr. Haskins again after my 27 weeks appointment. After my 36 weeks appointment, I was done with Dr. Haskins and selected a new doctor, Dr. Timothy Phelan. I really liked the staff from day one. All of them were so helpful with my last minute switch. Dr. Phelan met with me during my last 3 visits. I have no regrets. read more

Had our first baby visit with Dr Ruth last week. For first timers, we were definitely nervous but she was great about making us feel comfortable. We had a lot of what I assume are silly questions, but she took them seriously and helped us figure out the overwhelming amount of opinions and decisions coming our way. The other girls in the office were the same too, very helpful and sweet. I think in a situation like this, its great to feel so comfortable with your doctor and both my husband and I give her 5 stars. read more

Dr. Haskins wasn't even our OB, but she was amazing! We met her when she rounded on me during our admission for the birth of our twins. I only wish I would've had her as my OB for my entire pregnancy. She was extremely informative, personal and kind when I asked her questions. She had data to support her answers and didn't blow off my questions as being petty or stupid. My husband and I were both so very impressed with her care and attitude. I plan to switch my care to her in the future. I even called her office after we were discharged to ask a question and she responded promptly- keep in mind- she wasn't even my assigned OB. Can't ask for better than that! If you want an excellent and intelligent Ob- consider Dr. Haskins. read more

I had my annual exam today with Dr. Haskins, and I feel very lucky to have found such a wonderful doctor. She spent plenty of time getting to know me and understanding my history (as a new patient). I had seen the same doctors in the Bay area for 27 years, so I was a little nervous about finding someone new, but Dr. Haskins put me at ease immediately. She offered really helpful, practical advice on some issues I've been having, and was easy to talk to. I didn't feel rushed at all. Her office staff was friendly, the wait was practically non existent - I didn't even have enough time to complete my forms before they called me in. Dr Haskins has always been empathetic and responsive. Frequently, she personally calls rather than having an assistant deliver her messages to you. She wrote a supporting document to the insurance company when they denied payment on one of my cancer-related lab tests. I had a concern following an ovarian removal when the surgeon just blew it off in his post op follow up visit. In contrast, Dr. Haskins brought me in for an exam when I told her my concern. That exam verified there was no new problem causing the numbness I was experiencing in my leg following his surgery. She explained the possible reasons for it and what I could expect and what to watch for as my recovery progressed. I definitely recommend her for GYN care read more
