I believe this hospital is suitable for simple illnesses/procedures and stabilizing emergency…read morepatients until they can be transferred to a larger hospital. I was reluctant to admit my Mother-in-Law (MIL) on Sunday because of the horrific service I received during my husband's 2 1/2 week stay January 2020. I agreed since it was for 24 hour observation after she suffered a mini-stroke. Looking back, I'm sorry I gave in. My MIL is 90 with dementia. She lives in a memory care facility and she has the mentality of a toddler. All this information and more was provided to the hospital personnel. She ended up in the hospital for 48 hours, shared the room with a woman that was yelling for hours, buzzers going off without being investigated. She woke up in a strange environment and I had to hurry to the hospital to calm her down. Once calm, I moved her out of the room to a quieter area, exposed her to sunlight, and facilitated getting her released from the hospital. The environment a 90 YO with diminished mental capacity and sundowners was put in to recover from a stroke was an attack to my mental state so I'm not surprised my MIL woke up and had a psychotic episode. Never again. According to hospital personnel they don't treat the psychological issues until the physical problems are resolved. She was in for observation so no physical treatment needed. A person qualified to deal with psychological problems could have been called. Maybe we could get a few people off the street if the medical world would change the current business model.
