I was surprised at how friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and expedient the staff and surgeon were at this facility. I called ahead to find out if an hour and a half would be plenty of time because it's cheaper to book a Lyft beforehand, and they assured me that it would be. Not only did they get me assessed for my broken ankle with an x-ray, instructions and a new appointment five weeks from now, but they got me across the hall where I had a boot put on i plenty of time to get my Lyft ride. read more

Dr. Wahlquist refused to see me because I am a self pay patient who is uninsured. I assured I could pay for anything as I have a health share but my job will not provide me with health insurance. His office managers refused to consider my case. This is prejudice. I'm sure if a billionaire wanted to be seen and was self pay they would have seen them. This office is unprofessional and the physician who I heard great reviews about must not be in this for the patients but for the money even though either way he would be paid the same through self pay or insurance. I'm thankful I found Dr. Wahlquist and the team at Folsom Orthopaedic Surgery. I separated my A/C joint (grade 3) and Dr. Wahlquist helped me understand my injury and all of my options, without pressuring me to have surgery. I ultimately did decide to go the surgical route to ensure long term function in my shoulder. Both surgeries went without issue and I'm happy to say that after 4 months my shoulder is beginning to feel normal again, and I'm finally back to lifting some weights. The staff at this facility are kind and helpful, from the receptionists at the front, to Brian (the surgery coordinator), to Shari, the practice manager. Really disappointed with the front office and attitude. We called with need for fairly urgent treatment for a young child and we were treated with disrespect and ignorance. We also went through the intake and then were told the following day, they couldn't treat our daughter (simple break which just needed a cast). Presumably, the front office staff barred us from care because we would not provide unnecessary private information such as where our child went to summer camp and school. I dealt with Dr Wahlquist about 5 years ago for a complete rotator cuff tear. He didn't push surgery on me but explained ways to function without it. The trade off was I am not able to do everything I did before, but I liked the approach of not going through a three month healing process. If you are looking for an office full of people who care and genuinely have your best interest at heart, look no further. This is the place! Roughly two months ago, I was playing with my fur baby and I became a casualty of her zoomies. Consequently, I was unable to walk. I literally had to stay on the ground and hope for the best. I know this sounds awful, but it really wasn't. I had this serene feeling that everything was going to be okay. So, I remained calm, called 911, and asked them to send an ambulance. Little did I know a fire truck would come with all the sirens as well as an ambulance. I was a bit embarrassed, but that feeling faded quickly, as my rescue crew was quite attractive . I was quickly taken to Mercy Hospital ER (great crew of people) and triaged. While I was there, I was told that my bones were messed up. I fractured my left tibia and broke my left thumb. I needed to be seen by an orthopedic surgeon. My choices were to stay the night in the hospital until one made the rounds (HARD PASS!) or find one that could see me sooner rather than later. So, while I waited for my partner to get me, I started searching for one. On my first try, I found Folsom Orthopaedic Surgery. Megan answered my call. From the moment she spoke with me, I knew I found the right place. She was able to get someone to review my X-Rays within a couple of hours, because my EMR is connected through Dignity Health. And, although It was almost the end of her busy day she was determined to do her best. And, she did it! Megan is the best! She was patient, informative, accommodating, and exuded a level of customer service that is fleeting these days. I don't know how she pulled it off but she got me in within 2 business days! And as everyone knows, after COVID, getting an immediate appointment with a specialist is not an easy 'ask'. But, Megan did it! When I arrived at the office I was able to meet her and Nabela, at the front desk. They were just as personable in person as they were by phone. The office is quite roomy and clean. It has a true professional feel. Jenn and Marron took my X-Rays and they were both so engaging. They really took the time to make me feel comfortable, while I was in quite a bit of pain . Once the X-Rays were ready, Terri Palveko, PA came in and took care of the rest. She is WONDERFUL! She really knows her stuff. She explained everything so thoroughly. She was able to tell things about my injury that really allowed me to have confidence in her treatment plan. I truly felt safe and heard. Special shout out to Drs. Walquist and Guilfoy. You have cultivated a really great team. They truly are a treasure. I know this sounds weird, but I like going to Folsom Orthopaedic Surgery! It's like visiting friends. Front of the house staff are very friendly and efficient. The biggest downfall for this establishment is the wait time for an appointment. If u get hurt you could be waiting 2-4 weeks to get an appointment. I met with a PA and got an X-ray. They provided stretches and a huge list of physical therapy places to try. They are worth checking out, but if you are truly hurt, go to the hospital or a clinic! read more

So I was scheduled for surgery and was told that my orthopedic physician had decided to retire all of a sudden. I schedule a new appointment with a different orthopedic in the same office and waited well over an hour to see him. It's very frustrating that they expect us to be on time but they can't be any more close to being on time to seeing their patients at the scheduled time. read more

I was referred to Folsom orthopedic surgery by my primary care physician to have my shoulder looked at to see if I need surgery. I scheduled an appointment with Folsom Orthopedic Surgery. Some awful person named Misty refused the let me have an appointment I made with them. She said their practice doesn't do ANY SHOULDER surgery without even seeing me one time. I asked Misty to provide me a letter in writing saying that they couldn't see me for shoulder surgery to which I was told they will not give me any such letter or formally let me know any reputable way that they don't do any shoulder surgery at Folsom orthopedic surgery. I'm sure it's a violation of some contract they have a CIGNA PPO Insurane that they don't want to honor or even see me the patient even ONE TIME to actually review my case. My PCP referred me there but Folsom orthopedic surgery knew for certain they couldn't help me. Again this is an organization that did not even meet me once but they already somehow know that they can't help me. If I was you I would try and find somebody else if you actually have a problem because this practice discriminates against people with CIGNAPPO insurance..discriminates against a white male who needs Orthopaedic surgery Which SADLY is the title of their practice. read more

I am 77 + years of age. My thoughts are based upon a lifetime of experiences, observations and comparisons. I have no medical experience. Since my transition from private insurance to Medicare I've found that finding a doctor has gotten increasing more difficult. Finding a "GOOD" Doctor near impossible and finding a "GREAT" Doctor a miracle. I look for a doctor to listen to my problem(s) and resolve them. If Dr. Walhquist did only that he would fit into my definition of GOOD Doctor. He doesn't stop there. He explains his findings in a language that I can understand. He summarizes various solutions and makes recommendations enumerating the pros and cons of each. Lastly, his bed side manner, office manner, his personality far exceeds most I've encountered in the past and that is saying a lot! With the above in mind I would say that Doctor SEAN Walhquist is a beacon in the medical field upon which medical standards should be based upon or aimed for. I ultimately decided surgery, which was easily scheduled in 10 days. I was up walking the next day with minimal down time and pain.
