I recently spent 8 hours a day for an entire week in this hotel's conference rooms, for work. My colleagues at this event were all from various states, ranging from California to Connecticut to Texas. I was actually the only local yokel. So, in addition to getting a feel for the place during the day, I also collected a number of opinions from people who spent each night at this hotel. Why? Why would anyone stay here? The rate one of my colleagues paid was $275 per night. For just a bit more you can stay in one of our fine resorts. The rooms are adequate. The gym was reported to me as being pretty crappy. The only plausible reason for paying that amount is its proximity to Sky Harbor Airport. Personally, if I'm paying $275 (plus tax) a night, I'd probably be willing to shell out an additional $50 for the round-trip cab ride to stay at the Biltmore or something along those lines. One California lawyer I spoke to did exactly that. But to each their own. When I discussed this with a local friend, he was also baffled. Apparently the University of Arizona basketball team stays here too, when they come up to play ASU. This, however, I understand. Would you want your 21-year old superathletes to roam around freely on Mill Avenue or in Old Town Scottsdale the night before a big game? In sum: Location = crap. Price = crap. Rooms = whatever. It's a very nice hotel, particularly if you're an elite traveler and therefore have access to the concierge lounge. Also, internet is free for elites. No, they don't have fridges/microwaves, but you can ask for them to send up a mini-fridge, which they do quite willingly. Comfortable. read more

Good meeting rooms and attentive staff for our 20 person event. Centrally located off the highway and free parking. Granted, some of the Phoenix traffic can be rough. The banquet captain had everything set up for our event by 8:00 pm the night before. Food and coffee was ready to go when our first participant showed up. Basically, I could focus on my job at hand and not have to chase down the little things, like is there sugar for the coffee? I like both the Marriott and the Hyatt Place close to the Phoenix airport. This has been the best hotel I have stayed at for the past 5 years! The hotel is super clean and this is from the eyes of a "clean freak" and some one who travels very often. The hotel is updated, clean, convenient and has a super friendly/professional staff. I was greeted by Tyler at the front desk and I realized little by little that I had forgotten many things given I was from Tucson and had not put great thoughts and effort into packing. Tyler was amazing and for the first time I had the impression that he actually likes his job. The restaurant and other hotel staff were amazing too! It is May people! To have a swimming pool in Phoenix Arizona look as dilapidated as this is unacceptable. I went out to the pool for 5 minutes and turned right back around. Not sure who the genius is that mounted the televisions 20' in the air making it painful if not impossible to watch any sports etc if seated at the bar. I struggled wanting to give it a 4 star because the people that work here are awesome! I stay many times when in Phoenix because it's close to the airport and a reasonable rate. I do this to avoid getting a car and then just taxi or shuttle to the airport the morning or evening of my flight. The hotel needs a remodel badly. I'm surprised the Marriott hasn't stepped up and redone it since PHX is a major hub and the hotel is so close to the airport and major highways for conventions. The Concierge is nice for breakfast or a night cap. The hotel itself is a little dated but relatively clean. Marriott mattresses help ensure a good nights sleep. read more

I recently stayed at the Phoenix airport Marriott. Overall, the staff is very friendly, timely, and personable. The hotel itself...falls short. The hotel: the main lobby is nice, clean, and open. The rooms...not the greatest with the exception of the bed. The bed was fantastic! As soon as my head hit the pillow, I fell asleep which was great for me because I'm on a time difference. The things I would like changed: the rooms are very outdated. The wallpaper is starting to peel off, the carpet looks like it belongs in 1992, the chairs were lumpy, there is no mini-fridge in the room (it has to be requested) and only one bottle of water. I had two phones in my room. The phone on the night stand didn't work because, when I looked, I saw the wire was split. The bathroom looks relatively new but needs to be cleaned much much better. The paint by the tub was chipping off and there was a little mold in the grout. My shower head had lime and calcium build up and the shower head sprayed everywhere. I ended up using more towels to mop up water on the floor than actually using for myself. On the plus side of this, the water pressure is amazing. It feels like a massaging shower head...it just needs to be thoroughly cleaned. Room service was okay and quick but expensive. On average, a sandwich was $13-$15 and nothing special. Again, nothing special but very expensive. You're better off taking an uber into the city. When we booked, we were informed that there was a complimentary breakfast but found out that it's only for people on certain floors which was very strange. I don't remember the bartenders name in the lobby bar, but the female bartender was very nice, talkative, and attentive to guests. This is a definitely a business hotel, meaning it seemed like the people staying there were in Phoenix for work which is something to keep in mind because the hotel does not offer free wifi. Being in 2017, and McDonald's and Walmart offering free wifi, it doesn't make sense why a business hotel doesn't offer free wifi. The woman at the front said that I could use my name and room number for the access code and I could login for free, which didn't work. Still had to pay for wifi. The most ironic thing about the experience was when I turned on the TV and a commercial for the Marriott was playing and saying that it was the ultimate in luxury and how many things were included...which did not fit this hotel. If you're staying for just a few days for work, this hotel is great to just sleep in and relax by the pool later on. If you have to work in your room, the $15 for high speed wifi might put you off. read more

Marriott prices with Motel services- As an airport Marriott I have a minimum expectation that the shuttle will handle a pick up within the 20 minutes stated at the front desk. Not so much here. Confirmed the shuttle should arrive in 20 minutes( it is a 6 minute drive to the airport from the hotel), and I waited and waited and waited. Only to be told to take a taxi. Could have saved me time but just telling me that in the first place. Next up, clean room is a pretty standard expectation when most are paying $200+ a night. Nope not here. Old elevator with disgusting stuff on the floor and stains on my chair in my room. Awesome. Finally, a hot shower is a pretty basic amenity. Not here this morning. Whole city block is out of water. Okay that's fine, stuff happens but when I call to inquire, at least offer a bottle of water or something to wash my hands or brush my teeth. I'm a Gold member so I had access to the concierge level. I attempted to work up there at 8 but the staff was obviously shutting down and didnt have any more hot water for my tea. Save your time and money and try another hotel. read more

The hotel itself is quite nice. You can tell the staff are going through a bit of flux and changeover. But they are working together to make it good. The hamburger was quite nice, although a little bit overdone for medium. The beer selection at the front bar is nice. Is also good that they offer free bottled waters often. The bedding is very nice. My parents had booked a Saturday night here to see a baseball game and visit me. However, I had a medical emergency, and instead of baseball we spent the day at the ER!! All original plans were out the window. Rachel and the team at this hotel were extremely accommodating of us every step of the way. They allowed my parents to delay their check-in twice. They gladly upgraded the room to include a second bed so my folks could care for me overnight after I was discharged. In the morning when we got the bill, the upgrade was comped. The room was comfortable, clean, spacious. The staff was friendly, helpful, very accommodating. Highly recommended!!! read more

Friendly staff and convenient location to the airport is probably the only qualities keeping my score from being lower. It's an old 80's Marriott that has "refreshed" rooms. I'd rank it less nice than the average discount Marriott brand, so pretty bad. The staff are significantly better than average - polite and knowledgable. Using the airport shuttle is both a plus and minus since they don't give you an ETA over the phone so you stand on an island in the middle of the road for what feels like an eternity in the PHX heat. From outside the hotel has great curb appeal. Upon entering the lobby it is decent, there is a 4 seat bar with 1 small television in an hard to see corner. The staff is very friendly and professional. Moving on to the elevator lobby you start to see the age of the building, once you get to the guest room floors you enter the 1980's. Be prepared for moldy smell, gold trim and blonde wood. The rooms also show there age with pealing wallpaper, aging furniture and outdated bathrooms. It's a shame that Marriott has not invested on modernizing this hotel. read more

Such a sad reflection on the Marriott brand. A "remodel" was maybe a face lift at best. Air conditioning still terribly under suited to the weather. My stay this week has been a frustration with simply getting into my room. They installed new touch locks instead of slide in keys which sounds great. But my lock and that at the concierge lounge were unreliable at best. My first night found me locked out because the lock wouldn't open. Showed green not red but flashed green and wouldn't unlock the door. Same was happening next morning to a group standing outside the concierge lounge. We got in when someone exited. My door kept experiencing the same phenomenon but I was able to make it work with a lot of physical abuse to the door. Finally it wouldn't work and I had to get security to use their master key and more physical abuse than I was willing to give. The franchisees here seem intent on providing the minimal necessary services to maintain Marriott brand status. I'm done with this hotel m read more

Jeff the supervisor saved the day! We were booked at a different local hotel and when we arrived it was dirty and smelled really bad. We got our room key and it was worse! We drove straight over to the Marriott. We received a very warm welcome! Beautiful and clean!! Jeff and his staff are so nice. They really helped us. I just returned home from my stay during the Super Bowl. Everyone at this hotel was amazing. David and the staff in the restaurant were exceptional. Our room was clean and cozy. Excellent job by housekeeping! The front desk staff found us a ride to and back from the game and went above and beyond to get us the clear bags needed for the game. The bartender at the hotel bar worked so hard to make sure we were well taken care of. The concierge lounge had an amazing breakfast for us. Marriott's beds are always the most comfortable out of all the hotels I've stayed. I would not recommend Marriott Phoenix Airport for an extended (more than a week) stay, though. All in all, the hotel is nice, and the staff is probably the friendliest I have dealt with in a long time. There is no free WiFi, and you'd think that a chain like Marriott would provide it for free. There are no refrigerators or microwave ovens in the rooms, either. read more

Nice grounds. Convention lunch was great, so were the service caterers. Shuttle is impeccable in my experience. It was running in less than 30 minute intervals. All hotel staff were freindly and professional. The a/c is central and satisfactory at best. The bathroom has only one light switch, it's lit like a stadium in there. The bed was substandard, sheets were rough, pillows either too thick (throws), or too thin. The toilet paper and tissues were something you'd find in a public bathroom at a San Diego beach. Further, wifi is not free and very slow. They offer faster connections for more $. They also charge for internet in the business center. It's nickel and dime for a $179 room where a Holiday Inn Express at $80 cheaper would offer as complimentary. Lastly, the bar and restaurant could use a Feng Shui placement expert to make the spaces more comfortable. The bar is in the lobby, too open, too lit. The restaurant is reminiscent of a low level Las Vegas buffett. I wouldn't stay here again. read more

I was here for 18 nights. I stayed in room 509 and it was very roomie. There was a desk, couch, coffee table, etc. I had a nice view of the front of the hotel. No direct sunlight though...bummer. They have a business center that is run by a 3rd party. Color printing is a plus but when the computers are down it can be somewhat frustrating. The front desk will print some items for you (using printme.com) but their laser printer is set to a low print quality so it wasn't worth doing. There are some really nice people who work there. Jonna ( the bartender) and the bell guys. The front desk people...I don't remember their names but the younger latina and latino guy were extremely helpful and responsive. The people who I didn't like: The older Indian guy who worked nights seemed to be extremely lazy...It was a weekend and I wanted some water and he said he didn't have access to the backroom where they keep their bottled water but guess what...when I asked a couple of nights later, they front desk person had access to the back room. I think he was just lazy. There's also a few other people, 2 to be exact, that work late and are just not that nice nor that helpful. I needed some packing tape to use on my clipboard. I usually ask the bellman (who's desk is like 50ft away) but he was not there. So rather than snooping around his area I wanted to ask the front desk people. The blonde, heavy set woman, said I should wait for the bellman but this was really late at night and after waiting for a few minutes I told her that I knew where the tape was and she cut me off saying she couldn't allow me to go through those drawers...fair enough...but how bout you taking your fat ass around the counter and getting it for me???????? sorry, if my thoughts (of course I didn't say this) sound rude but come on, you're in customer service....what got me more mad is that the next day I the same situation happened, I needed more tape but the nice latino front desk guy told me I could get it myself. He wasn't on a power trip like the fat blond lady from the night before. Ok, other than those mean front desk people, everything was fine. The latina who worked the front desk was realy nice. I had to stay here unexpectedly after returning to Phoenix very sick. I already had a good experience with their airport parking service, and would recommend that to anyone flying out of Phoenix. And every staff member I ran into during my stay was was very helpful and went out of their way for me. It made for the best possible stay under the circumstances. read more

I wanted to give everyone an update from the last review I wrote about the Phoenix Airport Marriott experience. So, the General Manager, Jeff Bhatti, replied to the letter that me and my colleagues sent to them about their associate interaction and they basically told us that they received the letter, apologized for any inconvenience. He also wrote in the letter: "It is our objective to provide each and ever guest a comfortable stay with utmost respect and privacy. Your comments play a critical role in our success and progress. I appreciate the time you took to bring it to my attention. Based on you comments, I have shared my concerns with the staff and emphasized review of our training and procedures. We shall implement and improve any steps needed to ensure that our guests have a positive experience at the hotel. We are grateful for having had many opportunities over several of past years to successfully take care of hospitality needs of our guests while in Phoenix area. We look forward to continue with such relationship and will do our very best to prove our commitment to our objective." When we read that letter, we just looked at each other like that was just BS and were not satisfied by the half ass letter we received from the General Manager. First of all, there were spelling errors in the letter, and second of all, for them to say that they provide each and every guest a comfortable stay with the utmost respect and privacy. The two words he used, "RESPECT" and "PRIVACY" were two elements that the Phoenix Airport Marriott hotel did not demonstrate to us during our time at their hotel. The guest relations worker did not show us RESPECT when she was talking back at us and asking if we planned to make any more noise after I expressed my concern about her sending strange men up to our room w/out any warning or notice to bring down the noise level (which there weren't any, we were just talking in our room. There were no music on, no tv on, no blow dryer on, we were just talking our normal tones but I don't know if the walls are just SUPER thin or what but regardless, we should have received a phone call from them in the first place.). For her to say "So you plan to make more noise next time?" I wanted to be like "No B****, I'm not! Stop being so fresh with me because I wasn't even trying to say that!! I was just bringing up my concern that there were two large men standing outside telling us it is our second warning and to OPEN the door when we haven't even received the FIRST warning in the first place!! Now, THAT is wrong and that is a violation of our PRIVACY!! Additionally, my friend told me that when we got into the hotel room, she noticed that those two men .. the SAME men that asked us to open the door, were checking us out at the hotel lobby. They were looking at us up and down which creeped out my friend. Since, we have 3 young ladies staying in the room, WHY THE HELL WOULD WE OPEN THE DOOR to TWO STRANGERS who were checking us out and Open the door for them?! We aren't even sure if they are hotel security. But regardless, the hotel did not make us feel SAFE or COMFORTABLE at all and again, me and my colleagues are extremely disappointed in how the management has handled our concerns. Basically, the letter that was sent to us was BS BS BS! Our company will never stay at their hotel again and I will make sure to spread the word to all our friends and family because when I do inform them about our horrible experience, they are absolutely appalled that the hotel made no efforts in making up the experience for us in any way. The "thank you for bringing this up to our attention" is BS to us and we will make sure that everyone who is looking for a hotel in Phoenix will never come to this establishment again. We have paid this Hotel for long term parking and used the hotel shuttle to get to the airport. When the flight returns we call the hotel and they send a shuttle to take us back to our car. It has worked fine in the past until 9/6/19. Our flight returned and we picked up our luggage. However, when calling the hotel to get a shuttle to come pick us up the phone line would ring busy once and then go dead. We called the Airport customer service and they received the same results. We tried calling the hotel over a hundred times for the next hour. There was no alternate phone number, email address or another way to reach the hotel shuttle so we were stranded by them. So we decided to call an Uber and pay an additional amount to get transportation back to our car. When we arrived at the hotel, I spoke to the desk clerk that said she just found out there was a phone problem just before I walked in. There was no offer of a refund for the Uber or much of an apology. I gave her my information and asked that the manager call me as I would like an explanation. I never received a callback. To add to the matter we later learned that our car door had been bent as if someone tried to pry the door open while it was left at the hotel. This experience has told us a great deal about using this hotel for parking. There is clearly a poor phone system, no alternate way to reach them and the management is apathetic to a problem rather than address it directly. I am not impressed and very disappointed! read more

The room is clean and the service prompt. My stay has been overall comfortable. In terms of the convenient proximity to the airport and the room quality, this Marriott is a solid 3.5 to 4 out of 5. What really earned an extra star to the 5 mark is the quality of staff here. The staff was very friendly, especially the front desk. I greatly appreciated it after having had a stressful flight to Phoenix from Boston after a few delayed flights and cancellations on the part of the airline (I won't mention their name since they're usually pretty good). The kind lady who checked me in was patient in dealing with me when I had to call my credit card company to clear a charge freeze due to traveling. She even helped me charge my dead phone with the charger at desk, which I suspect was one of the staff's, if not her own. While dealing with my own issues, there was another gentleman who was having troubles with the Marriott check-in app and was getting frustrated, but the staff patiently walked through the process with him. The quality of care and service here definitely made my trip instantly less hectic. Other notes: -Wifi is free in the lobby, but ethernet line-in is paid for by day in the rooms -There is a shuttle that travels back and forth from the Phoenix Airport to this Marriott -The minimum taxi fee from the Phoenix airport is $16 as of 10/22/13, which means you'll be paying a little more than the actual meter fare to get here if you do opt for taxi -The best way to get to Phoenix from this airport is by taxi if you don't have a car (best is to rent a car if you're planning to be moving around a bit) read more

Once again I would highly recommend this hotel for a stay, whether it be for a personal or business stay. I came down with the Seattle University women's basketball team for a third consecutive year and they never cease to impress. Their event staff is specially prepared for sports teams and are fully equipped to handle football, (needless to say those in athletics know what a logistical undertaking this can be). The special touches for our team as well as for our head coach are always welcome and have guaranteed our stay as an annual occurrence. Event set up for our team meeting spaces, AV requirements, and meals were all on point and flexible with our schedule and last minute demands. A high class, very comfortable business hotel but expensive. Business hotels are a genre of their own. I stayed here for a one-day meeting in Phoenix. The service was impeccable - very first class for an airport hotel. I actually got "annoyed" at how incredibly helpful and friendly the staff was (just kidding). That said, this hotel is very expensive in my view for Phoenix plus you have to pay for Internet. Our group commented on how bizarre it is that you stay at La Quinta for $85 a night and get free Internet; stay at a fancy hotel like this one, and you pay $265 and pay another $15 for Internet. I heard the fitness facility was nice; and a free aiport shuttle which helps on the overpriced nightly rate. GREAT for business. GREAT if someone else is paying for your room. read more

The hotel itself is pry 3-3.5 star quality but the service is phenomenal. The hotel is a little outdated but well kept. The cafe inside has good food and a great staff. David was an excellent server with a great attitude. ( he should be promoted) I highly recommend the shuttle to and from the airport.
